Beautiful church with a spooky cemetery! I love Colonial Williamsburg and have been there many times, unfortunately I have never been able to attend an official service here. Where else could you see George Washingtons church pew?
A great place to experience. I was surprised it was still an active operating church despite its location. It was beautiful inside and full of history. The burial sites in the floor were very interesting as I wasnt aware that was something that was practiced. Very peaceful and worth a look.
Beautiful historic church where Washington, Jefferson and other notable Virginians once worshipped. Very friendly and welcoming. My fiance and I were given a very interesting and engaging tour. We stayed for noon prayers and were made to feel very welcome. Hope to be able to visit again and attend a service or concert here.
Im not a parishioner of BPEC. Its in Colonial Williamsburg where I live and its worthy of a full day or twos exploration.Come and sit in the same pews as some very notable historic figures. No, really, they have plaques that tell you who sat where.
Was there for a funeral service and so impressed by the warmth and hospitality by all the staff. From the person answering the phone for needed directions, to the greeter at the gate everyone was wonderful. Such a magnificent 300 year old church rooted in rich traditions.
Beautiful little historic church in colonial Williamsburg. Still holds services. Its open for the public to walk through.
The church was nice and the lady inside was very informative but my husband walked in in his hat and was trying to put my sons sweat shirt away and 5 other things (parents you know what Im talking about) and before he had a second she was telling him to take off his hat. Just not very Christ like of her. Love people!!!!!
If you are visiting colonial williamsburg it is worth the time to visit the church and learn the history. The church is very active and depending upon what time you are visiting you can attend an actual mass. If wanting to just walk in and look at the building then figure about 15minutes to be there.
Beautiful historic church! Incredibly kind and helpful staff. A must see when you are in Colonial Williamsburg!
Beautiful. Historic. Attended evening concert for fourth time. This is really worth going to.
Here is a delightful piece of history that give you a sense of what life was like at that time period. Some things have changed since then but others still remain the same. As a secondary thought here is also a wonderful place to get out of the heat and just ponder all that you are baring witness too.
Nicely preserved active church, so not always open for tours. Within Williamsburg Historic District, so no close parking. Suggested donation $1.
1715 AD wow! Great volunteers. Very informative.
I live the church building at Bruton parish. All of the history in this one spot is simply amazing.
The lady who said she was a volunteer was very rude! The building was beautiful and full of history, but unfortunately is nothing more then an idol and a money making machine. Too bad.
This is a beautiful church to check out on your tour of Williamsburg. It’s actually one of the places George Whitfield preached at on Dec 16, 1739.The building has recently gone under some renovations as of late 2019. One of these renovations included a brand new pipe organ. The only reason for me not giving this place five stars is that one of the custodians who was there to tell people the history of the church didn’t even know about George Whitfields preaching here, which was a very historic event due to this churches opinions which differed from Whitfield’s. (Originally Whitfield was going to give his sermon outside the church in the grass.)
The Christmas concert was beautiful! If you can make it down here you will enjoy it!
One of the birth places of America. We love visiting is church building and attending the almost nightly various types of concerts. Its a must if youre in Williamsburg!
Always great to visit...this time we found a plaque to my wifes 7th grandfather who was a founding person of the parish.
Very cool historic church there is a grave yard on the grounds for former Members
A very beautiful and solemn church. I highly recommend visiting!
Beautiful church erected in 1683. We expirenced a wonderful and talented Organist, Stephen E. Henley, that played a fantastic concert. Highly recommend visiting this church in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg.
In historic downtown Williamsburg. They have been an operating church continually since the 1700s. Beautiful building.
It is my church and it is historical and beautiful. Clergy are awesome, and parishioners are welcoming.
Fantastic, wonderful services, very friendly people, guides were over the top. I would highly recommend Bruton church not only for the services, but for the history..
Very good historical church. Graveyard outside where you can look someone up.
History and architecture adding up to a wonderful day in Old Colonial Williamsburg. We had a well trained guide and learned about the State Governors seating area.
History in the present is always an amazing experience. Will always re-visit, love me some Williamsburg
Nice historical church that is part of Colonial Williamsburg. Stop by the visitor center for passes to go inside.
Beautiful church steeped in the history of our country. Despite being separate from the surrounding Colonial Williamsburg, it appears to be quite active.
We went to a bell ringing concert,it was very impressing. The church was packed not one empty seat.Enjoyed every min of it.Would recomend. Gets you in the Chrustmas spirit.

Simply beautiful; our family had a wonderful time!
Our American tradition. Love Williamsburg
Bruton was the State Church. It is interesting to tour, worship at noon, and return for evening concerts. Donations are accepted. No pass needed.
Beautiful church. Saw organ/harpsichord recital. Amazing
Beautiful old church and the ladies working there are super knowledgeable about the building and history.Well worth the visit.
Heard an excellent vocal/piano recital here recently. Everyone welcomed us! We felt at home there! Thank you for all your hospitality.
Rich in history. Visit the museum also.
Williamsburg ghost tour was a great. have not been to the service but it is a beautiful building.
Always lovely to visit and attend services as well.
Outstanding historical church for the US with very knowledgeable people there for any questions. Keep in mind this is the US, and not Europe. So while its GREAT, considering this is a colonie in the 1700s, it cannot compare to going in a major European church of the same or earlier period.
️
Trinity Sunday. That holy mystery explored. Nicene prayer affirmed our renewal. Gospel from Paul in ltr to Romans mentioned his physical pain bringing endurance. Sounds like Sciatica.
Beautiful, historic church in continuous service since 1715. A great worshipful experience, offering multiple Sunday services and weekly musical concerts.
Old colonial church. Service was nice
This church is a wonderful, peaceful place to have a religious experience. When in Williamsburg, go and encounter Gods presence.
Peaceful. Historic and a must see in Colonial Williamsburg. Take time to sit and ponder the place where those who used their passion and intelligence to create this republic. Pray for those who shed their blood that future generations might be free. Thank those who protected this historic structure for future generations.
Both a place of gorgeous history and welcoming worship
Filled with history. Wonderful visit.
A true survivor of the colonial era, Bruton Parish Church is an icon of the core of old Williamsburg, the part of town now known as Colonial Williamsburg. Its been in continuous use since the parish located to the current site on Duke of Gloucester St. in the early 1700s.Numerous political figures of the pre-revolutionary period attended here, as Williamsburg at the time was capital of Virginia, the original of the British colonies, the flagship, if you will. And Bruton, being the flagship church of the capital, served as a very active place of worship for the local gentry as well as for visiting dignitaries. The church is open to the public for viewing most days when not in use for church functions. Since it is an independent entity (not owned or operated by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation), there is no admission charge, but donations of any size are welcomed as you enter. Docents are present to assist with questions.A must-see site in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg.
Enjoyed a very professional quality musical program.
Visited here while on vacation. Amazing historical place
Great sermons! George Washington went there!
Great visit. People friendly. Makes you feel like your back in 1700s in worship
Beautiful place.
Friendly people welcomed us to the 9:15 service.
Beautifully renovated church that was an essential part of life in that period.
Beautiful and lots of history including Found Fathers as church members!
I mean its jesus so can I really give it anything but 5 stars?
This is a big and beautiful Church full of history. Can you imagine the very church that our founding fathers visited right on Virginia! This is a working church, so be aware that services go on, be respectful of what is going on. The lay out and history are very impressive!
Love the services. They still have an awesome pipe organ and don’t mess up the music by adding in the piano. You will not find drums and brass instruments here. The members are very friendly and accept you as though it was your home church. So impressed.
Historic church with great worship services
So beautiful. You can feel the history in this place.
Colonial Williamsburg Grand Illumination was amazing, as always!
The concert series is wonderful and being able to sit where the founding fathers sat.
Heavenly April Eve. Ewes and white horses flowers and Love ever present
16th century church in Colonial Williamsburg, and has about 500 parishioners and very nice place. It has about 125 concerts a year that helps the church financially.
One of the many restored buildings in Colonial Williamsburg. Be sure to talk to the interpreters about life in the 18th century!
Ghost tour....do you see any....I didnt. Great history lesson though.
Such a beautiful, historical place. Plus it is still an active worship center
An active modern congregation welcoming visitors to an historic area. Phenomenal music program! We worship elsewhere, but never miss a concert/recital/performance here. Support their musicians!
We always go to the evening concerts. when we are in Williamsburg. They are always great and have a variety of programs.
Historical church with knowledgible members of the current congregation donating their time to share the church history with visitors.
Patrick Henry, George Washington among many other founders of our country went to church here! Patrick Henry attended while at William& Mary!
A wonderful experience. Great evening concerts.
Sit in the balcony. Go for the organ show and the warm 1700s glow.....
Interesting to see the names of those who worshipped here ., .
Great historic church. One of the originals in Colonial Williamsburg. Candlelight Organ Concert Tuesday nights. Services Wednesday at 11am as well. 2000 member congregation. Docents very friendly and welcoming.
Very cool and worth the $1 donation.
