I am mobility impaired and partially dead, so I had to be next to the tour guide to hear.I had to carry my Walker part of the time cos of gravel paths. Next time, I will rent a scooter. At the Peyton Randolph house, a woman in 18th century yellow and orange brocade period dress and hair walked by the window. 30 people saw it. The tour guide said no one has lived there in 79 years. It was a great birthday gift for my niece. I highly recommend it if you can walk fast.
Went on the Haunted Williamsburg walk, it was awesome! Thank you, Iris, you did a great job!!! Got home and looked at my pics....is that blue streak a ghost by you?
Cool looking house unfortunately nothing really spooky about the house at the time of day I went but the shops and scenery were perfect for picture taking. When the sun was going down is when the house started to feel vibes and the eerie nature of the house.
Loved it! Covid 19 limited what we could access but the staff did a great job working within guidelines.
One of original 88. Great house, tour shows how rooms were used. Outdoor areas were built on later
Due to Covid I was unable to visit the inside of the house but the outside was beautiful! The tour guides were so informative and helpful!
Staff is very friendly, reenactors are awesome some are very in character, shuttle drivers are very helpful and friendly!
It was awesome if you had a pass you could go around back and go in parts of the house
The reenactors brought the house to life.
Our Extreme Ghost Tour guide Denny whipped out a spirit box and we heard childrens voices at first and then we heard a mans voice. That house is scary looking during the day at nighy it is super creepy!
Went to Colonial Williamsburg, so disappointing! Most of the houses were closed, it looked like a ghost town!
The tour of this original Williamsburg home was fantastic. Our guide was very informative. This is the second time we toured the home. The last time was from the perspective of the slaves who lived there. Both sides of the history are fascinating.
Liked the exhibit or back of house tour
Visited at night during a ghost tour, and it was very creepy. Made me feel uneasy and all the hairs on my body stood up. Pictures didnt come out well, blurred photos, randomly deleted photos, and my flash even stopped working. I loved it! We even think we captured a spirit on film! It is a museum during the day and you can take a tour of the inside, but at night, Id stay off the lawn if I were you. I want to go back and learn more about this house...maybe capture more ghosts on film!
Nice old school place
As many times as Ive visited Colonial Williamsburg Id never gone in the Peyton Randolph House. What a shame, there was so much history in this house it made the whole trip worthwhile. The guide was excellent and had so much knowledge not just about the house but the whole time period.
The tour we received from Robert Watson at the Peyton Randolph house was the best I have ever been on. It (alone) was worth the price of admission to colonial Williamsburg. Robert told our small tour (with great believable passion) the paradoxical story of liberty loving men like Peyton Randolph who also kept slaves as personal property.Robert answered our questions patiently and was full of great information. I’m sure the Randolph house is worth seeing regardless of the guide, but Robert really helped to make our Williamsburg experience special.
Worth the trip and the wait. Nice peek back into history. Needs a little more domestic life and daily life of a slave if thats how their going to advertise it
Great haunted tour worth Lonny. Just finished up and going to the witch trial! Love Williamsburg every time we vacation here.
Colonial Williamsburg is always a great place to take a drive to and walk around. The Peyton Randolph house is interesting because it not only has the house, but there is a great childrens area in the backyard that my family loves!
Very much enjoyed the history. The period furnishings and costumed actors made Williamsburg come alive. A very enjoyable visit!
The most haunted house in williamsburg
This was the best tour that day. Awesome place to visit.
Interesting visit. The guide was very informative.
Very educational and definitely worth the visit. One of the places I would recommend the most. Story gets you invested fast. Definitely stop by if you get the chance to. Itll be worth it, in my opinion.
One of the original houses, beautifully maintained. An historic gem in CW.
Did the Haunted Williamsburg tour and this was definitely the scariest story. Thought were actually saw a ghost in the window!
This house is a must visit for any tour of Colonial Williamsburg. Our tour guide Ken was absolutely awesome with his knowledge of the Randolph family, history, and its overall significance to the founding of the United States. I highly recommend it.
Learned some interesting historical facts from tour guide. Great place to visit in Colonial Williamsburg.
Only the exterior is open currently. :-(
Loved the history and how well kept the buildings are.
Great story with a great guide . She brought history to life
This was the best tour of the day!!! The tour guide, Janice, was hella-passionate and informative. Her dialogue with my daughter, son fiancee, and me was not only riveting... but also intuitive and intellectually stimulating. She didnt just answer questions blandly... she raised the bar and gave opportunities to dig in and really think. If there had been a tip jar I would have been beyond willing to contribute. The home is fascinating in and of itself, and the history we learned made it even more impactful. GREAT TOUR!
Very nice
Full of good history of a man who would have been as well known as Washington or Jefferson had he not had a stroke and died in his 50s.
One of the most haunted places at Williamsburg. We took the haunted ghost tour and learned so much about these history. It was fun and the kids enjoyed the tales.
Took a tour. Beautiful place. Interesting history.
We saw this after hours in the ghost tour. Beautiful historic home and lovely to see by candle light without the crowds!
Very knowledgable guide, tour was about half hour. Lots of buildings to explore, takes you back to the time to possibly learn something you may not have known.
Very nice presentation. Young man very knowledgeable
One of many must see historic homes at Colonial Williamsburg. An honest reconstruction/restoration with a storied history during the pre-revolutionary period. Peyton Randolph owned and occupied the residence until his death just prior to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. He was a community leader who advocated for independence. His history of slave ownership is also strongly intertwined with the history of this house.
Our guide was terrific! Very sad story about the slaves here and interesting story of the father of the revolution.
Good at night for ghost hunting, great in daylight for being a beautiful house.
Very intersting history guidr was great
Loved it. We actually got to talk to a lady who was the governors wife. (In Colonial times) It was great talking to her. She gave my husband, two granddaughters, & I some information about her life & duties at that time period.
Over 30 people died in this house that alone makes it interesting. Even though I am a non-believer in the super natural it was an entertaining experience to visit the location at night and listen to the history of this prominent piece of American folklore.
Amazing tour through the house. We learned so much.
Loved the history of it
This tour is an important part of understanding the key players in Williamsburg.
Very interesting stories from our guide, she was a great source of information, about the house, the time period, and the people that once occupied, and worked at the house.
I didnt get pushed down the stairs by a ghost. I was disappointed.
Super creepy vibes
History....story of slavery....300 yr old lovely home...
We were lucky enough to see the restoration and construction of the out buildings as they took place a few years ago. The home as you see it now is one of the better examples of recient CW projects that expand the learning experience. The visitor sees the house as it was at its best. The outbuildings were made using materials, tools and methods that were just like the originals. Much effort went into the accuracy of the restoration.
It was nice to see how the rich lived during the colonial times
Pretty cool until the ghost tour freaks you out
Fabulous tour guide. Very interesting.
This is always a highlight of our trip. Love it!!
A must see in Colonial Williamsburg. The house is one of the authentic, original houses in the historic village. We visited the house at twilight and went on the last your of the day. The fading light in the house made me feel like I had stepped back in time.
It was wonderful to see the house!
Great history. Beautiful structure.
Tours every half hour. Too long to wait unless you arrive just before it begins.
This was a grate night and Sam was grate very interesting
Great Collional Williamsburg Ghost Tour
Beautiful old historic home. Must see when in Williamsburg. Very significant historical figure in American history who quite possibly could have been our first president if not for his untimely death.
The tour was fabulous. One of top two tours while in Colonial Williamsburg. (The other was the coffee house tour.) The hostorical facts of the house and its inhabitants were fascinating, but lets face it - our guide made the tour. I dont remember her name, but her ancestors were owned by Carters who were related by marriage to the Randolphs. Her attitude and information was spot on. She was so personable. She held every member of our group spell bound (ages around 6 to 75)
Amazing home and stories. To be standing where great men and women once stood is a amazing feeling and experience.
We are longtime visitors to Colonial Williamsburg but we learn something every time about the culture in the colonies and the early life of our nation. Langley AFB is currently located on one of Peyton Randolphs many plantations. His law library was sold to Thomas Jefferson and at Jeffersons death became the seeds of the library of Congress.
Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable!
During the day you hear much different stories than on a ghost tour at night, but both are equally amazingly presented.
Loved the tour and learning the history.
Dont ask meh questions
Great tour!
Very interesting. Hard to imagine life like that, but the staff helps to paint the picture.
Great way of learning about our American history. A must see.
Marvelous tour, knowledgeable tour guide.
Spooky ghost stories of this place.
Great informational tour felt the history in this house
Great place to visit
Great history!
A lovely tour of a period home and the history of the family who lived there.
Spooky!
The tour guide was as old as the building and couldnt remember half of what he was supposed to say
We stayed at the colonial houses in Sept 2015 and plan to go back. Staff was wonderful location was terrific. My favorite US vacation and worth every penny.
Absolutley love this haunted house. Couldnt get enough of it.
Loved it, it was so scary I saw the light tern off by itself and the person told me no one has been in there since he died!
Great interpreter.
