Wow. Our son might have found a new hobby because of the live interaction with these fabulous staff! Also, we are especially grateful for Claire at the glassblowing shop, who took our report of a lost item and offered extreme encouragement to a child. she went out of her way to provide information and gracious Conversation.
Interesting peek into history. I had no idea that glassblowing was a thing in 1607 Jamestown. If you time it right, you can watch the gaffers at work and the shop has their wares for sale at very reasonable prices. My only concern is that the buildings and placards are dated and in need of upkeep and repair. I hope my purchases help fund this cool part of our history. Its part of the National Park Service, so you can get a passport and your stamp here.
Beautiful skilled artist demonstrate the art of blowing glass. A wonderful gift shop available to use cash or credit.
Friendly glass blowers are willing to answer any questions. Nice selection of glassware created on-site. My favorite part of the historic Jamestown area.
Our family always enjoys visiting the Glasshouse. Although the current environment with the virus required some changes, the artist give a superb history of glass making and demonstrations are enjoyable for all ages.
Very nice. Little path to walk with informative signs then a glass blowing demonstration and a lovely little shop.
Was pretty cool to to see the glass house ruins then have a demonstration! Gift shop was filled with many goodies!
Love the glasshouse. The artists dress in period clothing and work much like they would have in colonial times. It is really fun to watch them work! You can purchase items in the shop and when I went they had an area with special pieces for sale as well.
This is a must stop. Must shop place for ME! I have bought one piece of green glass for every trip down here. Love thia place.
A must stop when if you’re in the area and exploring historical sites. My wife and I had a great time watching glass being blown and sculpted into something great. An employee came to us and explained what was happening while the other blew the glass. When you’re done watching, make sure to stop by the store connected to it for some amazing pieces for sale. We got a cute smaller flower vase for around $10.
Been there numerous times but always good to listen to what the glass blowers share with the people.
Beautiful glassware for sale. Good gifts handmade at the working kiln. Tradesmen onsite doing and teaching
Very informative and great educational opportunity! Beautiful glass souvenirs at decent prices!
We had a perfect little stroll down to the Glasshouse and found such a cute little beach! The water was a bit more rough than the Jamestown Beach Event Park, but we still dipped our toes and captured some great shots! If it wasnt for exploring here, we would have never realized how badly we wanted to take the Jamestown Scotland Ferry! The ferry was awesome! Absolutely love everything about this historic triangle! Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown forever our favorite little towns!!!
Wonderful place to visit and they always have great glass blown gifts
Interesting demonstration of glass blowing. Nice to find an authentic souvenir
Very interesting engaging. Plenty of things to see and do in a close area.
I love glass blowing, great demo, answered all questions in detail and excellent shopping....for glass blown things.
Beautiful blow glass and men working there are very informative.
Great experience to watch them blow glass. Nice gift shop.
It was a small place with a short glass blowing demonstration. But the mosquitoes were pretty heavy there. Not a bad spot to see once but probably wont go back
Really neat stuff to see and worth the stop. The person who works there is very talented and knows what he is doing. The kiln is really cool to look at. Amazing place. Definately go here.
Very interesting experience! They blow glass right before your eyes! They do a great job explaining the process!
Very interesting history from the 16th century. Beautiful drive in the island then headed to the glasshouse for souvenirs.
Beautiful glass. Very interesting to watch and learn about the process. Even my 6 and 8 year old grandkids were fascinated by it.
AWESOME PEOPLE WORKING THERE :-)REALLY COOL HOW THEY MAKE STIFF FROM THE LIQUID GLASS ;-)Visited here a few years ago and HAD TO GO AGAIN ;-)
The Jamestown Glasshouse is an interesting and wonderful place that everyone must visit! The artists that are there blowing glass are true masters of their field! They explain what they are doing every step of the way and answer all of your questions. The artist working when I was there was making gorgeous vases! You can purchase many items that have been made there and all purchases help support the running of the Glasshouse and Americas parks!Every time I go, I purchase a new ornament for my Christmas tree!!
Visited during our stay at Anvil Campground. Beautiful glass pieces, and they do demonstrations so you can see how its made.
Didnt get to see glassblowing but beautiful glass pieces

A short walk through time. A brief self paced walking tour.
Excellent display and description of how glass was made by early settlers.
Fascinating part of the Historical Triangle experience. Wonderful step back in time. Great artisans in period character.Lovely gift shop with beautiful examples of the handblown glass for sale. Bit pricey but wonderful souvenirs.Highly recommend.
It was a great demo. The glass blowers were very informative with each step of the process.
Interesting craft and they took the time to answer several questions.
This is a good idea for someone who want to be up close to the person blowing glass. Their projects are authentic to the time period so nothing too exotic or fancy but its still dang amazing how fast they can produce the work.Lots of people willing to share with you and answer questions. Definitely worth stopping by if you are interested in how glass was produced.
Loved this experience!! Also, found it cool that they make a glass piece every year, for that year only.
Loved this. If you are gonna be on the Jamestown/Yorktown/Williamsburg area, this is a must see. All the people there were happy to explain the process of glassblowing and answer any questions. The glassblowing demonstration is amazing and very interesting. Would recommend for any age. The shop has many amazing handmade glass items that, considering they are made by hand without much of any modern tools by only a few people, are actually reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the app experience and would return.
Awesome!!! Loved everything about this quick little excursion! It was amazing watching the glass artists work! Spent a small fortune on hand made glass in the store lol
It was so cool to see them make the glass.
Jamestown glasshouse is one of my favorite places to visit in VA. I bring home a new hand blown piece of glass every year. Ilve it.
Nice place for a family event.
Fascinating to watch glass being made. The fire keeps it warm this time of year. Cant wait to go back and see what they make on a different day.
Such history! And, a beautiful views. Beach could have been cleaner.
Wonderful and informative! The host answered our questions and told us interesting facts about the history of glass making and even allowed us to to examine the finished products.
Its very interesting to watch
Came here with my 7 and 5 year old kids and they loved it. The location is right on the water in historic Jamestown; museum is interactive and you can see actual artisans hand-blow glass and explain the process as it occurred back in the 1600s. Great nature trail and beach walk access next to the original Jamestown glasshouse of 1608. Great gift shop as well. Recommend it!
Fascinating to watch them make glass items, could watch that all day. Not too far from the parking area. Beautiful views of the river! Good spot to picnic if you bring a blanket.
Very fascinating to watch and beautiful surroundings - fun to buy items after seeing how they are made. This would be great for children
Great place to watch & learn about glass blowing. Beautiful pieces which can be purchased.
This is a charming little place of historical significance. It also has a small beach from which you can sit and watch the waves!
A great glass blowing demonstration which is part of the national park historic site. Free trail, exhibit and demonstration, and you can buy items that are hand fabricated there. Family friendly fun near the water. Interesting history!
We enjoyed our trip to the Glasshouse. Our son is here from Texas and we wanted to get him some one of a kind glass pieces to display in his home. The staff was awesome and they made this an enjoyable place to visit. And by the way the glass pieces are beautiful!
Glass makers were very friendly and knowledgeable
Its a cool place to check out. History is awesome.
Best part of the entire place. Got to see them blow glass right in front of us!
Love visiting this place! I always enjoy watching the process and I love picking up new pieces. I do wish they would put more colors in their lineup. The green and blue glass are standard, but theyve been stuck on teal and its not that awesome. I miss purple and red.
Very interesting piece of local history
Very interesting and the person making the glass items was very informative
Just peaked in the door. Looks pretty neat. One of the fellows was giving a tour.
I love watching the rebirth of this almost lost art. The demonstrations are so interesting and being able to take home pieces of glassware made onsite is icing on the cake.
Great demo and the girl telling about his work was very knowledgeable. You can buy items that they make right there in the shop.
Great to see glass made.
This is a great place to visit. The art of glass blowing has not changed all that much. Lovely items to buy and they can ship also
Good demonstrations of the history of glassblowing! Beautiful handmade items available for purchase!
Great demonstration. You can also buy blown glass.
This place is so cool. So glad we made it here on our trip to Historic Jamestown. The people who are creating amazing glass products for the Glasshouse do demonstrations all day showing and explaining how they make them. Bought some souvenirs and they were able to ship them to the west coast for me so I didnt have to keep them safe on the plane home.
Its amazing and very educational
Awesome place friendly staff, awesome Glassworks and demonstrations
Awesome place to see and interact with history experience. Love the staff and workers. Please come and see them and support them.
An awesome experience, especially since my recent genealogical research indicates that Im a direct decedent of some of the key players (Native American and English). Great for the family to understand all of the aspects of the birth of this nation. Now 400 years later, we are a blended group of people with strengths from all over the globe. Hard to understand why we see ourselves as separate races, groups, genders, or people. We are simply Americans. Getting into our history offers a much needed perspective. Good and bad things brought us to this point, but our focus should be on the future :) as one people
Fascinating and beautiful glassware.
Always excited to visit the Glasshouse here at Jamestown. These people are very talented. We did have a problem with the lady in the gift shop area. She didnt want to give us the military discount because our National Park Access pass doesnt say military on it. Even though I have a military ID she said that my Access Pass had to say military on it. When we went down the road to the Jamestown Settlement, the fellow at the ticket counter informed me that the pass that says military on it is only an annual pass. It expires every year. My pass is lifetime. These do not state military on them due to non military people are eligible for these passes. He also said as long as I had military ID, I should have received a military discount.I hope this gets straightened out.
Get your personal hand made blown glass here. Great learning experience of past US civilizations.
Neat place to visit with friendly glassblowers
Very interesting. Glass pieces are lovely
Dont miss this quick side trip to see actual glass wares being made. The staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions. Down the trail is the ruins of the original glass house.
Interesting, but Id like more information while viewing the craftspersons.
Very interesting. We watched wine bottles being made. The folks working there were very friendly and happy to answer questions. I recommend you check it out!
Loved the glass blowing demonstration! The glass blower demonstrated great skill and technique.
Fascinating place to visit! The people working there are keeping the art, as it was practiced by Jamestownians, alive. They are also very friendly and knowledgeable and you will learn a lot talking to them. Dont forget to buy a glass, vase, ornament, etc!
Great history, demos, reasonably priced gift shopMUST SEE
Nice people and very knowledgeable
Interesting to watch knowledgeable people
Very informative, staff were interactive and friendly.
