A wonderful walk through West Virginia history at the Mountain State’s birthplace. Start in the basement and watch the docudrama video bout the story. The video is very old, 1970s to early 80s. Has a Little House on the Prairie but is surprisingly entertaining and informative. The day we were there we had the museum to ourselves most of the self-guided your. There’also some neat display about the history of Wheeling. Th city has quite a story to share in its own right.

A nice little trip through history. I knew that WV separated from VA during the Civil War, but not the story of how that happen. Two hours were a good amount of time to see the exhibits and enjoy the beauty of the restored building.

I sat these steps as a child in the fiftys, wondering why the steps were so worn, little did I realize the historic events that took place here especially during the Civil war!
