Spent my birthday here yesterday and this place was the gift that kept on giving. Absolutely a feast to the senses. It was wonderful to see so many people still love nature and a big pat on the back to all the parents who took the time to share with their kids. There is no computer game more amazing and dramatic as Mother Nature. Immediately became members. This is a must see over and over again!
A little oasis right on the National Mall, I love the smells, the varying textures, teeny flowers and exuberantly large leaves.
This garden is incredible. The plants are beautiful and the artwork is INSANE! my favorite piece is the metal tree. Its absolutely gorgeous!!!! Plus, for some reason, the squirrels are super friendly at this spot. Its very easy to feed them by hand!!
Beautiful! It’s amazing standing where so much history took place
Loved it. Under rated. If you visit the Smithsonian and weather permits, I would say to alo go here!
The Smithsonian Pollinator Garden has a few to enter...nominal considering all of the museums are free to enter. It was worth it for me...we were able to get up close and personal. I’m not sure who the Wookiee belongs to in the video
This is such a exotic botanical garden to explore. When I was a kid,in the 60s,I would hook school and walk to the Mall.Back then it was known as the Botanical Garden. They had a old fasion Coke machine and I got a number of cokes for free.Inside it was always warm and cozy. The smells will intoxicate you send your mind to places far flung and adventurerus. The pollinator program is sponsored by the Department of Energy. My pics are from Butterfly Park @4900-4944 block of East Capital Street,South East Washington D.C.
In other words a butterfly garden with lots of shade and places to sit. Good place to wait before the museums open or just to stop to rest ones feet.
Amazing effect for such a small plot of land! The flowers are lovely.
Wonderful shaded pathway, great plaques about pollen, and very big sculptures of some pollenators. The garden itself could use some maintaining, looked like a very neglected overgrown mess.
My son absolutely loved it... Wonderfully maintained place
If the weather doesnt bother you, its a great free outdoor garden with many informational placards to read and beautiful flowers to enjoy! There will be friendly bees and other pollinators in the garden so keep an eye out!
Nice exhibit. Wish it were larger, but a nice exhibit for kids and adults anyway.
The indoor butterfly pavilion is located inside of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. For some reason, the indoor butterfly pavilion got conflated with this place listing (an outdoor garden and a lovely one, at that). I submitted multiple edits to Google Maps informing them of this issue....The indoor butterfly pavilion has many colorful butterflies on the loose in a humid, plant-filled mini ecosystem.Admission is $6 but Tuesdays are free!
Very informative can actually make you Anderstand what you need for your garden in order to bring some spiesies and or sessional Flowers
Great outdoor space to help our pollinator.
Sometimes kids are scared but its pretty zen and lovely. Tuesdays are free!
Nice walk thriugh.
Worth a detour from visiting museums to see mostly native plants and the wild butterflies and birds they support. Informative signage about habitats and plants are well labeled. Good place to get ideas for your own mid-Atlantic garden.
First thing you need to know: I LOVE BUTTERFLIESEach ticket is roughly $6, unless you plan to attend on Tuesdays (I think Tuesdays are free days). Once you enter the habitat (although it is quite small) you get the sense that you are in a different world immediately. There are all types of butterflies fluttering all around you, some may land right on you - your head, your arm, your leg, etc.Make sure you watch your step, you dont want to step on one!The enclosed area is quite humid so be prepared. If you are a fan of butterflies I would highly recommend the exhibit. Its a small price to pay for an experience so rich. Where else would you encounter so many types of butterflies
Great exhibit, horrible staff. One young staff member discouraged any contact whatsoever with the butterflys. Made for a very stressful environment.
Its a nice place to sit and relax during the day.
Very cool bring your butterfly lover Here!
