Its cool especially during blooming season
Quiet spot, for a guy you hear very little about.
A nice little memorial on the side
Very easy to miss/forget with the other giant memorials in the DC area. The is a really well done memorial it is one of my favorites. I will say it does tend to be neglected a bit with broken dirty benches, untrimmed hedges, and a sort of raggity feel. It does not feel up to par with the other national monuments in the area which is why I recommend everyone to go show support for the nice little park. It does have its upsides if you were one of the people like me who walked everywhere it is a great place to stop and rest and admire the DC area from afar. Before making your way back to the mall area. Overall I would recommend you make your way here but make sure you stop to see the Jefferson on the way.
I love this place. Specially in spring time, because of Cherry blossom festival lot of people come visit this area. Its always crowded during spring/summer. This place is really good for walking/strolling. You should come this area during Cherry blossom, you will surely love it. But getting here its tough as there are so much traffic around this area.
People really need to read up on this man and get an understanding for what he and his work means to this Country. Im so glad we stopped here and read the words that hed written. He had very influential ideals that shaped our Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights.
The Memorial is a little known one, not crowded at all, about one of the founding fathers. Overshadowed by the Thomas Jefferson Memorial it is a nice spot to come, rest, and learn history. If you are going to walk about the Tidal Basin you may as well visit this memorial.
Absolutely beautiful!
Off the beaten path and not hectic area. Relax and stroll the area. The Cuban Friendship Urn was by parking area.
Often forgotten, but always profound, the George Mason memorial is a little known treasure tucked away behind the Jefferson Memorial. A great place to sit and read on an autumn day. Quiet, but inviting, its well worth the visit.
The cherry blossoms, the magnolias, the walk around the memorial and all other museums in walkable distance. The cycling path, the walk path. You could just spend days wandering in around this area!
The George Mason Memorial is one of the lesser known memorials on the National Mall. Its along the Tidal Basin close to the Jefferson Memorial. Its a circular plaza with several marble benches, one that has a large statue of George Mason, a man who influenced the Bill of Rights. I wouldnt make it a point to go here, but if youre walking by, stop by!
Great little memorial. Very relaxed experience compared to the other memorials around the tibal basin.
An often overlooked spot along the tourist circuit that tends to be pretty quiet because all the tourists are looking at the Tidal Basin. Especially nice leading up to cherry blossom season when the magnolias are blooming.
Presently under renovation, the memorial is great location to take pictures of the cherry blossoms with the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial as the background.
A decent memorial, the fountain and flowers are nice. Unfortunately the highway and planes overhead ruin the atmosphere
Closed for the fall but the main statue is still up. A good reminder of a not often talked about Founding Father.
Peaceful memorial, tucked away and mostly overlooked from the busier areas of the National Mall. I overheard a young person say, who is this, as they walked pass the engraved: Author of Americas First Bill of Rights. Plenty of benches, plants and views out to Arlington, Va, surround the statesman from Virginia.
When George Washington calls George Mason the wisest man of our generation I take notice. When Thomas Jefferson calls George Mason a mentor. I wonder why I have not noticed this superhero of the creation of the United States before. I admit my history may not be at a scholarly level, however this man is really important. His contributions helped form this country. The memorial is small and diminutive by comparison to Jeffersons huge prominent monument. The George Mason Memorial is tiny compared to the Washington Monument that is an always visible part of the DC skyline. Interesting, so very interesting. This man will be a part of my historical research as I gain a few more insights into the creation of this nation.
Unnoticed and tranquil in its simplicity. Although the George Mason Memorial is only a short walk south west from the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, it seems to be easily and often overlooked as its nearly always empty and free of any crowd. The memorial itself is the size of a small plaza with George Mason sitting tranquilly overlooking a nice circular reflecting pool. Its a proper tribute to a man who stood for the individual rights of all people and, unfortunately, is often denied the accreditation of having laid the foundation of our Federal Bill of Rights by his authoring of the Virginia Declaration of Rights. Take a seat next to good old Georgie and honor his memory with a selfie for the ages.
I parked on the other side of the bridge to walk over to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. I saw this small garden memorial as I walked and decided to visit in on my walk back. I found myself looking at this bronze memorial quite a while before photographing it. I feel like I found a hidden treasure. For anyone wanting a quiet spot, a reflective moment, a unique memorial to visit...I would highly suggest stopping in this small circular park and take a moment to breath.
This Memorial is a Hidden Gem. Its simple clean and gives you information about George Mason.
Cool memorial. Go Patriots!
Nice place. Smaller than The other monuments but I recommend to be there. A mandatory stop before the big monuments after the parking lot near the river.
Its a nice pit stop if youre walking around in DC. Quite a quaint place that remembers a founding father at the same time. Feel free to sit next to George Mason himself if you feel lonely.
Poor George Mason. So many other big and beautiful memorials in the area and his is small and easy to miss. Not very well maintained as I was tripping over loose stonework.
George Mason is sadly the forgotten Founding Father of the US. The memorial is very peaceful as many pass right by it.
This memorial is beautiful but for some reason neglected by visitors:(. Sunsets from this area are beautiful and its the ideal place to rest before visiting the Jefferson Memorial.
Nice little garden and sculpture, kind of lonely and out of the way but worth seeing.
Quiet place to relax off the main trail.
George Mason, a sadly forgotten Founding Father, gets what I think is just about the most personal memorial on the Mall, sitting on a bench with his books in the park.
I hope they finish etching the stone soon! Thats why there is blue tape and a plastic drop sheet
Really nice memorial to George Mason!Beautiful area, nice statue!
Beautiful memorial and glad I got to stop by
George Mason is a favorite of mine, but I was greatly disappointed by the neglect shown to his monument. The fountain was broken, and the pool was empty except for some leaves and trash. The benches were covered in bird droppings, and the shrubs could use a trim. I was saddened to see his memorial treated so poorly.
Nice memorial, small compared to the other memorials in DC. But it is off alone, and rarely crowded. But if you are seeing Jeffersons Memorial, you might as well stop by.
Nice place
The forgotten Founder

Interesting memorial.
Nice memorial
Cherry blossoms!
While sight seeing this place was not very popular.
Kind of hidden behind the heavy traffic crossing.
Quite. Fewer tourists.
Nice simple statue of George Mason
He has very fat legs
