Obelisk Monument reflecting wonderfully the verse crazy populace. Loud heat and sweat of the city shaded to the cool water, branched trees, overhead canopies. I rest thinking of the expanse of freedom expressed so many ways.
The National Mall is the Peoples Lawn. Although there are travel restrictions currently, it is a nice place to visit and reflect on American history while learning about more topics at the nearby Smithsonian museums. The museums currently require advance registration online.
This place brings back good memories, its also gives me a memory that I never had.
This is a beautiful park with a pond, ducks, birds and other wildlife plus benches to sit and relax so you can take in the peaceful scenery. This gem is hidden right in the open between the Washington monument and the reflecting pool. If you walk along the sidewalk you will bypass it but it can be seen from the sidewalk and holds more than what the eye can see from there. I definitely suggest checking out.
Great place to just relax. With COVID going on there are not a lot of people down there
Less busy than the reflecting pool, the constitution gardens is a great place to sit and read a book.
Just being by the gardens and the water, made the whole experience peaceful and serene.
Beautiful fall morning and the monuments were good shape.
Just wonderful people I have tea with them on Sundays
The site of the world-famous cherry blossom festival. Unfortunately in 2020 it was in the middle of the quarantine period, so the entire park was blocked off. This wasnt too bad---the car traffic was cut off but you could still walk around, observing physical distancing rules to other hikers. Curiously, they drained the reflecting pond so we could do the Forrest Gump walk across it.
One of the interesting areas of The Mall is the Constitution Gardens located in between the Lincoln Memorial Reflection Pool and Constitution Ave. NW. This is a 50 acre nature area with a small pond and quite green space for those wanting to escape the crowds found around the many monuments and memorials along The Mall. The pond is surrounded by a walking path and there is a small island on the north side where you can find the Memorial to the 56 Signers of the Declaration of Independence. The island is connected by a footbridge and is easy to find.Unfortunately during my recent visit the pond was filled with algae and scum which wasnt very pleasant to see. Not sure how the NPS can help clear its waters but, at least at the present time, the pond didnt look very nice.Otherwise, a walk around the Constitution Gardens pond is rather good and something potentially worth doing if you plan to spend significant time at The Mall visiting the many attractions here.Note: There is a food kiosk setup at the west end of the pond, just a few minutes from the Vietnam Memorial and there are park benches in the area, potentially making this a decent spot to rest your feed and to have a quick drink or bite to eat.
A great oasis in the city.
A nice Garden with peaceful environment & low disturbance. The local policeman [ I think its the watchman himself] was a kind jolly good man. He allowed to take up my drone to catch the total upward view of the garden. And there in the meadows had a great time & best location for watching up the ducks that swim along the nice pond.
Wonderful park area. Great place to enjoy the shade on a warm day.Much of the DC downtown area needs significantly more trash receptacles are better placement of those that are there. Curious why the lake does not have fountains to keep the water moving. The moss and algae all over them is unsightly.
This is one of the best places to take photos of the Washington monument. But it also smells horrible in the summer with the algae and duck poop. Please throw your garbage out as well when visiting. The pond is not for plastic bottles.
Beautiful area to walk and absorb your surroundings. Theres a tribute to the authors of the Constitution, just over the little Bridge. Definitely worth walking over and looking at. I thought it just took me on to the little island and I could see the Ducks better, boy was I surprised when I saw that contribution . Absolutely beautiful. Definitely worth walking.
On a beautiful day the National Mall is the best place to be to admire our nations capital.
Lovely place! Great for a peaceful walk
But if you close your eyes you can see history
Best park in DC by far. It has an instantaneous charm. A great place for relaxation.
Very breathtaking and relaxed. A good place to visit if you want to see the beauty of our governments monuments.
Very peaceful and interesting. Not only do you get to see the signatures but the stones list the town and occupation of each signer.
Perfect for a nice walk or a sleepy day in the sun
From a hidden corner, beautiful scene.
Just amazing to see.
The monuments are beautiful and very moving at night.
I love watching my kids interact with the local wild life and it was a great place for a picnic.
Constitution Gardens was beautiful and peaceful at night. No one else was out after 10 pm. The ducks and geese were there and it was dark. We had to use a flashlight to read the words on the walkway.
Really nice place to reflect
A subtle monument to the men who, in an act of treason, courageously signed their names to the Declaration of Independence.
Serene and tranquil park. Just like the city itself.
So lucky to have been able to visit our nation’s capital for work and have some time to see the sights!! Very impressive!
DC is a wonderful, wonderful place to not forget those who have fought for our freedoms!
Great views and hidden location despite being on the Mall!
Was in D.C. for a conference so everything we saw was after dark when we had a chance to explore. Lucky everything looks amazing at night & is lit by great big lights! I enjoyed everything but wish I couldve seen the Vietnam Memorial in the daylight. Everything else was great for pics & viewing. Very few people & lots to see!
Serene, beautiful location with a great view and beautiful trees
This place is a beautiful place and for those who havent been here should make plans and some time. You will truly love an enjoy your time spent hete
Breathe taking, could feel the history.
Nice scenery for a bike ride
Come here every year, its a good place to be for memorial day weekend and see the motorcades and talk to veterans. Time well spent meeting those who have served proudly and are still with us.
Simply amazing place. Its a must see. Makes me even more proud to be an American, seeing our nations history.
Best architectural structure
I got sent to Baltimore for a service call from work, and took my wife with me. We cant wait to take our daughters back some time in the summer.
I went during the spring and the gardens were absolutely gorgeous and oddly peaceful.
Would be really nice if ponds were not full of dark green algae and the smell was not so bad. Greatest nation in the world and we cant turn on the fountains?
Great area to walk around.
Very scenic and beautiful, including at night. Prepare for some walking.
Nice place to relax on a bench away from all the tourists although it is still on the national mall and close to some of the DC must see spots
Beautiful inside and out - a must see when visiting Washington DC
Washington DC is so underrated in the UK. I preferred it here to NYC. Beautiful. Welcoming people. Stunning museums.
The greatest document in human history
We had a great day. We were part of the Honor Flight with Veterans from Illinois.
There is quite a bit of history put into the monuments there, it is a very facinating place to explore.
I recommend coming here after viewing the Vietnam Vet Memorial. The energy of the Vietnam memorial was very overwhelming and heavy for me. Coming here after offered a place of contemplation and reflection.
Nice peaceful spot to have lunch.
Great layout. Great building. Great view. A famous place appeared in so many films.
Constitution Gardens, Officially established in 1965, National Mall and Memorial Parks actually protects some of the older parkland in the National Park System. Areas within this premier park provide visitors with ample opportunities to commemorate presidential legacies; honor the courage and sacrifice of war veterans; and celebrate the United States commitment to freedom and equality.
Constitution Gardens is a park area in Washington, D.C., United States, located within the boundaries of the National Mall. The 50-acre park is bounded on the west by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, on the east by 17th St NW, on the north by Constitution Avenue, and on the south by the Reflecting Pool.
We visited this area on a field trip with my daughters 8th grade class. Probably one of the most memorable moments is having the students look up the names of local service men from our state and county find them on the wall and complete a rubbing. The students then were able to take those back home to Illinois and give them to the family members .
Interesting. Lots of people from other. Countries
Very beautiful spot. Nice walk to see national monuments as well as the Vietnam wall. Cool today at 25 degrees but still enjoyable. November is a great time to visit since the crowds are non existent.
Great place to visit and relax
Dark at night but still got some great pics. With a look
It needs to be cleaned up, the water is too low and looks kinda gross.
Beautiful gardens, trees and other plantings are mindfully arranged, and artfully coordinated creating a sense of harmony between the water features and the historical elements.
The scenic views are lovely minus all the trash that people just throws down in a non amusing way. One can tell that the state is very underfunded for workers.
Enjoyed my visit
Beautiful. Nice place for reflecting.
I visited at night. I was amazed by how many people was there in the dark. There is no much lighting which is ok. Still you feel safe. There was people doing cycling, jogging or just walking like me. Still lokks amazing in the dark.
Peaceful, relaxing.
Vietnam War Memorial, breath taking. Im 68, saw The Wall for the first time, and cried like a baby, and couldnt stop sobbing. Other Veterans were there, all knew it was my first time there. One by one they spoke about their experience, their first time to see The Wall, and how they reacted, was very similar to mine. What warmed my heart is when a Vet walking by said, Welcome Home! This still brings a tear to my eye, as Im writing this. It was a must see for me, and I will never forget it!
Literally one of the best places I’ve been
Its a must see
Stunning place to visit
Never knew there was a declaration of independence memorial honoring the signers. Nice to see.
Big place
A nice garden with a good view of the Washington Monument and is close to the WWII and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Both sunny and shaded trails to walk on as well as benches & restrooms to easily access.
Beautiful place to vacation love Washington DC in the capitol and the monument️
Its all there in Constitution Gardens. The WWII Memorial, the mirror pool, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Abraham Lincoln Memorial. Fabulous places to visit
Awesome space
Looked really Nice and well maintained.
My daughters loves to look at the ducks.
Goose Poop and Scooters Everywhere! Beautiful views from every direction, except down on the ground where the goose make poopies!
It was a very nice place and it had amazing places to take pictures with the washington monument and cool treea to be in that picture
Great place some parts of it are very very very hot.
Great place to go for a nice quite walk. Park is clean over all and offers sitting areas every so often. Would like to see more drinking fountains along the way as on hot days it can really dry you out.
Beautiful..must visit
Very very nice and picturesque..
Constitution Gardens is a grassy area with one lesser known memorial (in honor of the signers of the Declaration of Independence) and a pond. Often tourists overlook it, but there are advantages to paying it a visit:1) Respite: Locating just south of the World War II Memorial closer to the Lincoln Memorial and off to the side provides a quiet space for people to reflect and rest. There are benches throughout and the trees offer some shade from the hot summer sun. Since its off the main Mall walk way, there are never crowds.2) Location: You get some of the most beautiful views of the Washington Monument from the Constitution Gardens.3) Food: Theres a snack hut with water, chocolate, etc. and theres never a fine!
This is a nice well maintained city park. There is enough space to relax with a family. And, bathrooms are nearby.
