Beautiful cathedral. From the outside it looks nice and once you enter in, it will lift your spirit and filled you with awe. It has beautiful marble all around and art. It is worth visiting and attending mass. It is also the church were president Kennedy’s requiem mass took place.

One of the most beautiful interiors of any U.S. Catholic cathedral. On a sunny day it is radiant. It is both solemn and uplifting.

It was cool to look at, architecturally speaking. I was hoping it would be open so I could visit the inside, but no such luck.

St. Matthews Cathedral is a beautiful example of Catholic architectural splendor. The multitude of chapels and bursting array of iconography is not to be missed. I only wish there were readily available guides for visitors. If there were, I missed them.

Heavenly acoustics lift the beautiful voice of the cantor. Massive pipe organ, tremendous mosaics, an array of colorful marble walls, floors and columns add to the wonderfully celebrated mass I attended after the March for Life this weekend! Way to represent the Church!

Beautiful Cathedral. For history buffs, this is where the funeral for President Kennedy was celebrated, and they have a marker on the floor remembering that event. A few blocks from the White House. Some of the nicest images of the Evangelists Ive seen, and use these images often when talking about them.

This Catholic Cathedral may not be impressive from the outside, but it certainly has a beautiful interior : bright, shiny, beautifully decorated and with several side altars that makes prayer easier and peaceful. Sundays at noon they feature a great classic choir that makes Mass memorable

The outside of the building was breathtaking. It was so intricate and beautifully ornate! I really wish that I could have gone inside on our short weekend trip we went here and I’ve never seen a church of such stature I was hoping to go inside, but I just don’t think it’s adequate to charge $18 per person! Thank the good Lord who supported these efforts made the shrine is free.

Beautiful both inside and out. We came here for mass while traveling and attended a Latin mass. My husband is familiar but I always struggle with Latin. The booklet they provided was a big help for me to keep pace with the prayers and responses. The priest was a decent orator and the parishioners were all very kind.

We just had our wedding here with Monsignor Jameson. They staff was very experienced and communication was great. It looks amazing and is very large. There’s not really any parking so be prepared to use a nearby parking garage.

This has to be the most amazing historic church I’ve ever visited, the energy of this place captured me as soon as I walked through the doors. Immaculately kept up. I was able to sit and let my thoughts flow freely, others around me doing the same. No one bothering anyone. I made a small donation and lit a few candles for family and friends. I will always come visit this church whenever I’m in town. Just beautiful ️️️

I was staying at hotel near there so decided to take a walk inside this beautiful building. To my surprise this is where services for JFK took place. Having only watched the TV coverage and reading magazine coverage when it was happening, I felt like I was in a time warp. It made those moments come alive for me. Im so grateful the church memorialized this in tile.

A beautiful church tucked in the heart of the city. Although we went for Sunday mass, be sure to visit when you have time to spend in the various chapels.

While the outside of the church seems rather unassuming and quiet, the inside has many beautiful murals and stunning marble columns. This historical church is just North of the metro stops, not far from White House. Peaceful place for reflection.

This is an excellent place to worship or just tour. Monsignor Jameson, the priests, and staff are top rate. The choir sings with angelic voices. Whether or not you are interested in worshipping, it is worth touring for its historical significance and adoring its magnificent pipe organ, Italian marble, and artistic tile work.

Always like attending mass here when in DC. This is where President Kennedy had his funeral. Quiet place to sit and think. There are some people out front asking for money help everytime I have visited.

Its in DC so theres not enough parking around the church. Most attendees parked on the streets adjacent or parallel to it. I parked on 18th St so theres a bit of a walk to the church. The interior of the church is baroque architecture. The art work on the foreground feels like being in a museum.

The Catholic Cathedral of DC, seat of the Archbishop. St Matthew is a beautiful red brick Roman Catholic Church. It has the distinction of being famous for having conducted the requiem mass for President Kennedy. Inside you can find a round marker on the floor that designates where JFKs coffin lied during the service. The Cathedral itself is gorgeous inside. The chapel dedicated to St Francis of Assisi is one of the most beautiful of any church anywhere in the world. So peaceful and beautiful inside, definitely worth a visit to take in the art, architecture, and pay your respects.

It was near my hostel, and I came here to attend mass before leaving DC. The architecture was amazing the intricate rosettas caught my attention. The small chapels along the sides were good space to be alone...

This church being the seat of the archbishop of Washington is quite large and is central to the downtown. It is almost entirely covered inside in red, green and white marble and has a number of pieces donated by Popes on their visits to DC. There is always a lot going on here with services or other meetings etc. So you can find some way to get get involved if you would like.
