I went for the first time ever last night & it was amazing :) I felt very safe ~in this pandemic~ and Im so happy theyre open & operating safely.
Great venue, one of the hidden gems in DC. Amazing production with local artists. I went to see Exquisite Agony, (Exquisita Agonía) if you don’t speak Spanish they have subtitles in English projected onto two screens. Fascinated by the high level of the Artists, definitely I will come back for more.
Great venue. The table church has a service here every morning on Sunday. Great acoustics, ample seating but I will say it’s a little tight.Cute lobby. On site parking is available.
This is a great community theater, their commitment to bilingual productions and education in performing arts is phenomenal. My recommendation is that you arrive early for seats closest to the front because the seats higher up are not designed for individuals above average height and weight.
The interpretation was awsome, the play amazing and the decorate and lights excellent.
Great shows, a long block from the Metro, buses go right past, good restaurants all around, elevator for the handicapped. Parking on top of the Giant and in the shopping center across the street. Tivoli Square may be the best public space in DC in the summer.
Nice intimate atmosphere for performance venue. Polite and courteous customer service.
Went on a 3rd grade field trip, saw a play about Picasso. Perfect content for the kids, emphasized he zest for life and living to the fullest. Bilingual production. Really in impressed. Located downtown DC. Rough commute for showtime, got stuck in am traffic. Lovely theater, small and intimate, but professional.
Love the location. Parking is not a problem at all, it was very accessible. The kids had a great time and the show was absolutely spectacular. Will go again at the next opportunity.
Another one of DCs hidden gems. This theater is worth visiting just to see the architecture and read the history as you walk up the stairs and queue for the lobby. The black and white photographs and descriptions give a glimpse of a DC not often discussed or remembered. The bonus of GALA is you are then treated to a professional performance inside. (Which is also beautiful and, if the grid is not too bright you can see the beauty of the ceiling.) This theater works hard, the actors stay with local residents to make it affordable for everyone to produce and then see the show... Plus provide support and activities for local schools/childrenDo yourself a favor and enjoy a night out at GALA... For so many reasons youll be glad you did.
Saw the Flamenco show today. It was amazing and this is a fantastic theater. Great size!
Ive seen In the Heights and Fame here! Both have been incredible. Great and helpful staff as well.
Saw my favorite local band, The Tragic School Bus perform here. Great spot!
Great theatre, location, repertoire. The theatre itself is intimate though capacious, with good sight lines and sound. Stagecraft is of the highest quality. The neighbourhood is vibrant. The slate of plays they put on are challenging for both the production and audience sides. Lastly, the staff are engaged, professional, and helpful.
Have not seen a bad production here. Some I have liked more than others, but the theater is intimate and comfortable. Pick a higher seat if your Spanish is rusty. The subtitles worked well for my non-Sp friends.
I’ve always had a good experience here. Good shows, and friendly staff and environment.
Great small theater that produces Spanish language plays and musicals. The audience is always interesting and they have a decent bar.
One of our newest Community hubs. May we support it for future generations.
I love this theater because it shows plays in Spanish. Its a great place for teachers to bring their upper level students. The plays are usually very good!
Great theater, quick and friendly staff, excellent shows.
Small but enough for a great performance.
I very much enjoyed the theatre for the level of intimacy you feel to the performance as even the back rows have you close to the performers. This is a departure from what you may experience at the Kennedy center for example. Dress in layers, as it was noticeably warm for both myself and other attendees. Its a shame I didnt capture a photo of the theatre ceiling as it was quite gorgeous!
Great place to experience small productions with the family. Some presentation are interactive with the audience. My famy had a great time learning about Flamenco Dancing.
Popeyes is good ladies and gentlemen. No matter what!, you can just indulge in your in one of your favorite decadent cravings, who gives a f***?, for the record, I dont.
The space was amazing..great dressing room for performers, great stage space.
I always love GALA. Wonderful people, interesting productions, and I get to practice my Spanish comprehension.
Fantastic. Amazing the best everyone.
Excellent productions. Extremely professional and fairly priced. I have been to numerous productions and enjoyed each one more than the previous. Public parking available at the Giant supermarket for $6 with your validated parking stub. ENJOY!!!
Great experience, friendly staff.
Great experience and opportunity to keep engaged with our roots.
Amazing flamenco performance by Reditum tonight! Congrats to everyone at the theater for the great work.
For the most part this venue offers a decent curation of Hispanic theater. However Im not a fan of their annual flamenco festival only because its the same old acts after a while and their selection of visiting artists could be stronger. I love and appreciate flamenco so I know what Im talking about. Thus far one of the best acts was by touring artist Jose Barrios but that was several years ago. For dance youll find better acts elsewhere in DC.
Very nice theater you can see perfectly well from every seat.
Gala has a variety of offerings, both in English and Spanish, including some really spectacular shows. Definitely a heart way to spend an evening. Nearby are several vaginal and upscale restaurants for before/after show bites.
The talent is truly amazing!
This place is easily accessible, multiple entries and exits.
Saw a live recording of a podcast here (Radio Ambulante). Nice space, nice lobby, good location.
Great bilingual theater with groundbreaking new works, family friendly offerings and an after-school theater program.
Very nice play and stage Como Agua pa chocolate
Wonderful Spanish performances. Awesome staff. Committed to arts. Excellent parking. Great location.
Im a Spanish teacher from Hampton Roads. Once a year I take my students to the matinee performances. GALA has delivered every time with their strong performances. I love this place!
Been coming here for over ten years, and we were season subscribers a few times. A great asset to the community.
Small and cozy. A great venue with provocative content shows.
Intimate theater with a descent price that gives the opportunity to see plays in Spanish. Translation monitors are around the stage for non Spanish speakers
Excellent place, plays and class A+ actors
This place was pretty cool. I did not expect the black box theatre. Drinks were okay but pretty expensive.
This is a great place to see flamenco.
Superb performances. Really worth going. I try to see every show.
Its a good place for funky shows and entertainment. Also will help the neighborhood art society.
Wonderfully renovated classic theater!
Saw a Flamenco show here. Great place
Excelent latino theater
Live performances, in a venue with no bad seats.
Nice theatre. Comfortable seats.
Really nice, cozy, theater
Seats are uncomfortable & there isnt much legroom.
One of the oldest places in DC I hope it stays there for historical reasons!
