Amazing venue for a showing of The Great Divorce. Intimate with great acoustics. The only downside is that, when we visited, the temperature in the auditorium felt very high. Several in our group commented that it became very uncomfortable towards the end of the performance. I would advise dressing in layers so adjustments can be made. Highly recommended.
Im British what can I say. Theater is old and compact. The intermission refreshments folkloric its compactness can induce conversations. So unusable in todays phone culture. Productions are good and attract good actors. Some of their comedies outside shakespear are really funny. Ask for senior citizen prices if you qualify. It seems to have an infectious fun from customers and staff a nice change in this World. Starbucks across the road. Tapas on the corner etc.
The Great Divorce by the Fellowship of Performing Arts was terrific! Highly recommend anything they offer. The theatre itself is super as well in every way. Will definitely return!
Everything was magical, they have intermission where you can buy snacks. If you put a question in the box, you can ask the actors yourself. I went as a Field Trip so we automatically got to meet the actors after the show. I even got pictures with the actors. Plus, there are plenty of food places right by the theater.
We saw Timon of Athens and it was fantastic! The concession stand was lite but had good options. There is a parking garage connected to the theatre and other public garages within one block. There are no public WiFi options and cellular service gets cut off once you enter the theatre. What a fun experience!
The performance was great. The seating is a little dated, but comfortable. We were seated near the center stage area, but it looks like all seats have a good view.Get there early to park since it is next to the Capital One Arena. Plenty of garages and some street parking, but can be challenging on Event nights. We arrived about 45 mins early and was fortunate enough to park a half a block away. We will be returning to see future plays.
I would love to see anything the Fellowship for Performing Arts put on there. This was a gift, and a great one.
The theater was quaint. The restroom was dark. The seats were close together. But the performance was wonderful.
Old style interiors - theatre is not modern - but cozy enuff to enjoy the film - historical feel
Thought Everybody was wonderful. Very much a London play. Good introduction to new director. Acting superb.
This is a nice theater. I didnt notice a bad seat in the house. The box office made picking up my will call easy. The ushers are welcoming and polite. The seats need a bit more padding. An additional bathroom would be helpful. Ill be back for another great performance soon.
A total must visit in DC. Staff is kind, shows are punctual and the seats are comfortable!
If youre going to the Arena, theatre, museums, or other great Gallery Place activities, dont go to Tasca...okay, okay...I say that only because I want a table there. I go regularly for reasonably priced and well prepared tapas and sangria. Recommended.
I really like this venue as you feel so close and a part of the performance. Legroom in the seating could be better, but good comfortable seats otherwise. Lots of nearby dining options that are walkable. Plenty of parking options nearby as well.
Its a very interesting and fun place to be and you can take acting classes there.
Throughly enjoyed our evening watching The Great Divorce.
A venerable theater... not as flashy or capacious as the Harmon Center but more intimate... always a great place to see a show. Pretty nice acoustics too. What REALLY makes this place is the amazingly talented people of The Shakespeare Theater Company DC.
Wonderful performances, clean and organized space, free coat check
The Great Divorce is an absolutely fantastic play!!
Very good theater. The only issue I experienced is that the volume was a little low.
Small intimate venue. Great staff who are willing to assist the patrons finding their seats. For the show I saw I attended no photos during the performance. Dont know if it was the specific show or a venue policy. Was not aware that the venue sold drinks prior to the start of the show. If you get the opportunity to see a performance here you definitely should.
More of a musical kind of guy but the play The Panties, The Partner and The Profit adapted from 3 of Sternheims works was very well done. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I went last night to see vanityfair and it was awesome! Great performance, great acting, great cast. I recomend this theatre!!! You will love it
Always good. Vanity Fair much better than the Post review.
Great summer camp for kids 5 to 17. Acting, stage fighting, Shakespeare, and sometimes even dancing.
We loved the show Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis and enjoyed the accommodations by Shakespeare Theater.
High School group doing Shakespeare. Not bad.
Great shows, all seats have great sightlines
Saw Martin Luther on trial. Didnt really want to go as K thought it would be full and too serious. But it was fantastic! Both thought provoking and funny.
I know DC has a plethora of wonderful theatres, but I believe STC is the most innovative.
Always top notch performances, and great vibe.
Saw the CS Lewis one man play. Beautiful venue. Needed better temperature regulation as the auditorium was a little to warm.
There is something magical about an older classic style theater.
Steeply sloped seating eliminates blocking of sight lines but sound can be muddled.
The theatre looks nice and has a nice location. The issue is that the seating is very uncomfortable. They really need to update the chairs padding. Without that your feet are falling asleep the whole time since the padding is shot. Enjoyed the show we did see though
Beautiful place to your event
Im surprised this place doesnt have a higher score - it won a Tony for Best Regional Theatre! Ive seen several plays here, all of which were beautifully produced and very fun to watch. I love that they have programs like Free for All that allow you to watch plays for cheaper than normal. This is a place every DC resident should go to at least once while theyre here.
My daughter was talking a 2-week summer camp on performing. We are happy with it.
High quality productions - always delivers
Great performance and very affordable if youre under 35. Highly recommend for date night.
One of the top theaters in the city, and deservedly so. They perform a lot of Shakespeare, but quite a few other things as well. Not as edgy as Studio Theatre or Woolly Mammoth, but each of them has its own niche.DC is no New York I guess, but its a good theater town.
This place is great and you must go.
The performance was unbelievable good
Not a bad seat in the house. World renown acting. Great location. Dont miss the Free for All every summer.
We went to see Noura while visiting DC. Great venue and enjoyed the play. Lots of good restaurants nearby.
Always great productions, I definitley recommend checking them out. They usually have an intermission where they sell snacks and merch. Most shows are a Shakespearean play, but they also include one or two non Shakespeare plays during the season.
Excellent theatre for Shakespeare and more.great dining options nearby at many price points. Good transit connection by bus and rail.
The performance that we saw was great in every way, acting, lighting, sound, and set. The later rows could be raked a little more, but I guess its too late for that. The prices are a little high.
I watched the production of As You Like It on November 2 at the Lansburgh Theatre. The acting was very good, especially Jaques role was very well conceptualized and played. However, I was disappointed with the overall production -- the dreary, dull colors of the curtains and background failed to create the ambiance of the legendary Forest of Arden. I was looking forward to a magical evening in the midst of a natural setting. Watching Shakespeares love poems written on post it chits and stuck to grayish brown curtains was somewhat jarring.
Beautiful modern theater space, excellent show
Shakespeare Theatre Company is one of the best companies in the region for classic plays and musicals. I highly recommend it.
Beautiful place and comfortable
The Landsburg is much smaller than Syndey Harmon but a nice venue
With two theaters, you can see some great theater. Coming up at the Harman Hall, CAMELOT!!!
Saw Waiting for Godot. Was a great production, see it if you can
A great place for stage plays. We have seen many here and enjoyed all of them
Amazing shows and great theater
Nice little theater. I love what the company has done recently, especially their work semi-sponsoring David Ives. Not just Shakespeare
Nice small theater to see a show. Feels intimate
Saw a great play Noura and the staff super friendly
A lovely space to see a play!I found the headset very helpfulAcross the street from the Folger Shakespeare theater on 7th.
Wonderful theatre and performance of Waiting for Godot was top notch.
The best shows Ive ever seen in my life are here!
No bad seats - a smallish venue. They do a good job at intermission and you can order refreshments in advance.
Vanity Fair. Great fun.
Top notch venue with top notch acting
Small theater but cozy. Convient and friendly.
Nice little place to catch different plays .
Shakespeare can and is continually rediscovered by Washingtons Shakespeare Theatre. It is a company that is neither afraid to experiment with the classics nor to present traditional interpretations.
Under-35 tickets make this the best deal in the city for young professionals. Consistently wonderful performances.
Wonderful theatre venue that is a must go
Always a good time to see a show at the Lansburgh. Plenty of nearby restaurants.
Screwtape Letters is a must see play and book to read!
Excellent show. Many restaurants in the area.
Excellent venue, a block away from Gallery Place Metro.
Intimate, yet comfortable, theatre. Not a bad seat in the place.
Lovely little theater -- not a bad seat in the house.
This is the place to view the best plays in town.
Vanity Fair was remarkable.
Great preshow experience.
When they stick to Shakespeare, STC is good generally.
I never miss a performance, if i can help it. Superb on every level.
The best shows in town.
Excellent show
Great plays!
Wonderful shows and staff
Small, comfortable venue
Very nice venue.
Nice place to see a play.
