What can I say? I have never been until this visit to DC, but if I ever visit DC again, this will be at the top of the itinerary. This is an incredibly engaging museum that rivals all others in DC.For believers this will be an overwhelming immersion in the history of the bible from the beginning through today.Even if you dont identity yourself as Christian or Jew, I can pretty much guarantee that this experience will become embedded in your memories.I had no idea what to expect. The last time I visited DC this museum did not exist. Being one of the newer arrivals in DC, this museum has taken a deserved position as a MUST SEE attraction.I cant even begin to describe the many surprises here that make this a world class museum.Extra points for being open during the pandemic. All protocols in place of course. There was only one bummer that actually became something more to rave about.I visited on the day after the last big crowds from the 2020 Prayer March and The Return.According to staff, it was the busiest weekend in the history of the museum.Because of the pandemic, all the water faucets were off limits. They had NO water available except in the snack bar and that line was 30 minutes. I happened to bump into one of the chefs for the top floor restaurant and told him I was in need of hydration. The restaurant was closed, but what does he do? He GIVES me a box of water and a can of sparkling water. I offered to pay, but he would not accept it.This was first class customer service at its finest!Do not miss this experience!!!I visited the last week of September, 2020.

Quite an amazing Museum and nothing at all like I was expecting. The exhibits were all very well done and maintained. I appreciated the fact that they had areas that appealed to a variety of age groups, so that the kids had things that would keep their interest, while adults could also be intellectually stimulated. My expectation was that the Museum would be pushing a religious agenda, but that was not the case. It showed the historical narrative of the Bible and its influence through history. The museum also has hundreds of different bibles throughout the centuries to view and learn about. Highly recommend visiting this Museum if you ever have the opportunity to do so.

What a great time we had! This place is so beautiful. There is so much to learn and see. You definitely need a full day to see everything. Alex in the gift shop was super nice and helpful! The only problem we had was finding parking. Other than that, we had such an awesome time! Will definitely return the next time I visit DC.

Very beautiful and realistic exhibits. I was surprised at how modern it is. The use of technology to tell the stories and interactive tools made the experience different than I anticipated. Also there was an exhibit with an actress who stayed in character the entire time, she was phenomenal. Im going to come back and bring my father.

I went here on 1/1/2019. There are 6 floors to it. I went with my grandmother (who visited from Florida) and I felt the presence of the Lord in the museum. The little diner on the 4th floor had very delicious pasta, and nice views of the city. I especially loved the animated features of The Creation and The Fall of Man. I was the best way to open 2019, a sign that God the Holy Father is always with us. This museum deepened my understanding of Catholicism, and it is the most uplifting. I will return, when COVID-19 is through. I also loved the little bookmark which contains how many days, months, and years, I was born after the birth of Jesus Christ. I have that bookmark in my bedroom today. So far, best museum in the city. I’ll go to more DC museums in the future. I enjoyed the place where songs that reference God were played, including Johnny Cash’s #1 hit, “The Devil’s Gonna Cut You Down”, my favorite country song, that references God. All in all, awesome museum, will return in the future, let alone how realistic the exhibitions were!!!!

This place was a great visit for us. 6 floors with a full restaurant on the top and a great snack shop on the first floor. The snack shop is actual on the 2nd floor but you have to get to it from the elevator near the front on the 1st floor by the gift shop.3rd floor is a great place to start. On floor 2 is a 10 minute virtual flight through DC. I think it cost an extra $5. We got there around 10 am and left just before they closed at 5 pm. Awesome experience...plan to go back some day. They have the best security i have seen for a museum. The guards were polite and outstanding at what they do. You all rock!

Always a great time here! It was a busy weekend in DC with the Return event on the national mall so long lines to get in but they moved very quickly and my group got in at a good time. I spoke to one of the really friendly workers and he said that it has been pretty quiet since reopening in July but that the weekend I went with my group was the busiest due to the event. That being said, you probably won’t find any lines when you go!

Great place overall! My kids had so much fun with the scavenger hunt. This is a 2 day place if you really take your time and read the exhibits we were there for 4 hours and only saw 2 of 6 floors.4 stars because if you do have to return its another ticket you need to buy so depending on how many people are on your party is not worth to pay again for another ticket(s).. they do have a yearly subscription but if youre not a local I do t know if that a good deal. They should offer a 2-3 day pass to really get to see it all without a rush. Also for a museum of that promotes the Bible I did see unbiblical stuff (hint.. bookstore).. not sure why they would do that but I caught it and was disappointed about that..

This place is AWESOME! Interactive, educational, inspirational. There is something for everyone (Historian, scholar, believer or just curious). My kids, ages 10-3, loved it, especially the 3rd floor on life during the times of Jesus and the 4D movies on the Old and New Testaments. I really enjoyed the exhibit on how the Bible has shaped Western culture (with examples in science, arts, business, etc). They are the only museum that we visited this week (including several of the Smithsonians) that continue to allow participation with interactative exhibits and touch screens by handing out individual styluses for the screens. There was so much to see that we rushed through floors 5-2 in 4 hours, but still missed the Christmas shop and temporary exhibit on Malta Nativities. You really need 8 hours or 2 days.

We were there for 6 hours and just barely saw everything! Overall I was very impressed, especially since I was expecting fundamentalism that I would have to take with a grain of salt (Im a Presbyterian, were pretty progressive!), but instead I found it to be largely academic in nature. My main disappointment was that there just isnt much Jesus in it! It was very heavily Old Testament, I think Jewish visitors would get nearly as much out of it as Christian ones. Please, cant they add just a few more things about Christ??

This Museum is truly its name sake only go if you are interested in how the Bible was compiled and later printed and distributed they vaguely get into the overall story line of the Bible. The story is accurate however the images of how the actual people look during the time is not. I did learn how Consatine destroyed the original artifacts and later after his conversion recreated the artifacts to include everyone in Egypt looking European starting with Adam so with enough money and power i guess you can rewrite history to make it what you want instead of what it actually was.

The museum is gorgeous, easy to navigate and very informative. The Life of Jesus exhibit is amazing. You really got a feel for daily life during his day. I will say that I think there was way to much use of videos throughout, especially just with experts talking. I could easily watch videos at home. I go to a museum for the experience. Too many videos just feels draining after awhile. I would have liked to see the a side by side translation of the piece of Dead Sea scrolls. Not just a tag that says it was a piece of it. But overall, it was a great place to visit and I will go back. Great gift shop too.

I went first to the Esther play in PA and dropped down to Washington for this museum of the Bible. The two went together and what a blessing! I was advised to start on floor six and work my way down. That was absolutely perfect. I was thinking I would be out of here in an hour, but found several displays that really interested me. I really felt that I was walking through the Red Sea, listening to God as Moses heard him with the burning bush, and was so moved by how different religious beliefs coincide. I spent two and a half hours and could have spent the whole day. If I could have rated it higher than a five star I would. Everything and everyone here are wonderful.

Bought the tickets online for a discounted price of $20. Regular price is $25. Military don’t have to buy online tickets since their discounted price at the door is $20 anyways :) We got there at 10am on Sunday and there was a short line to get in and pass the security. It was worth the price. We spent about 6 hours there. There was plenty of free Sunday street parking around that time. First, we went to the 3rd floor for a 30 minute walk through experience which was perfect to get in the spirit. You won’t be allowed to take your coffee/drink with you in the theater so make sure you chug it while waiting to get in. The wait was no more than 5 minutes. It’s a 6 story building with a cafe and a beautifully stocked gift shop. Unfortunately, they don’t offer military discounts at the gift shop. There’s a place to check in your coat/jacket. There was a temporary exhibition on the lower level, which was wonderful too. Manna restaurant (Mediterranean food) on the 6th floor was delicious. There was a children’s experience for kids to play and learn under parent/guardian supervision. Very well put together museum.

We visited November 2020, which turned out to be a great time to visit even though it was a weekend!Firstly, the place is crawling with security, inside and outside. Going into the museum was like going thru TSA, except we kept our shoes on. Your bags/backpacks go through a big machine and your pockets have to be emptied. You walk thru an airport metal detector. We bought tickets online for $19.99.Someone recommended starting at the top floor and working your way down, which is what we did. I’d recommend this as it’s more chronological. There was so much to see, we spent 6 hours here and still didn’t see it all. There were so many Bible manuscripts which was super cool. The museum restaurants are closed, so you can leave the museum and come back within the same day right now. There was no food in the neighborhood that I wanted but I’d recommend taking a break and getting lunch then finishing it afterwards. We got there right at opening and were there for six hours—no crowds, no lines, and it was amazing. We had plenty of space and time and only a few rowdy kids interrupted our visit. It was awesome and I’d recommend it. The guided tours and experiences were the highlight. So much effort went into them and the technology is top notch. Very bright strobe lights and fog used in a few of them, fair warning.

So much to do here! Originally I planned to visit for one day but realized I couldnt see everything in one day so I went back for day two! I did the Bible in American History tour and the The World of Jesus of Nazareth tour. I found both tours to be informative and I learned new information. The Bible in American History tour included commentary on how the bible was used during slavery time to control the slaves so the tour was inclusive. I also spent some time after the tour to go back through the exhibits and learn even more since there is only so much you can include in a 45 min to an hour tour. There is also an interactive ride at the museum that takes you through Washington DC to different buildings that have bible scriptures written on them. Very interesting to see! There were also several short movies (12-15 min) on different floors of the museum. There is a cafe on the second floor mezzanine where you can get a snack, coffee, smoothies, etc. Then on the sixth floor there is a open seating restaurant called Manna where you can have a lunch/dinner type meal. I got a salad and a pizza. The salad was big enough to serve two people.

This is the first time ever my boy is being forced to wear a mask anywhere we have been to since the pandemic. My girl is old enough and she will allow the mask on but the boy is just too young and pulls the mask off. We were told that we cant get in if the boy does not allow the mask to stay. He was crying profusely as he was being forced to let the mask stay. At the end, I let my girl and my wife go in and I and my son walked back to the car. I felt mistreated. I do not know if it is because we are black or if this strange rule applies to everyone. I would complain to the authorities if I knew which one to complain to.

3rd floor is the best. So go to the 3rd floor last have been twice and each time its like I have fresh eyes and learn something I didnt come across last time. Beautiful decor everywhere to keep you interested even while walking between exhibits. Staff is VERY friendly and knowledgeable. The costumed actor in the World of Jesus: Nazareth was very entertaining, we had a great time learning from her. Will definitely be back a 3rd time️

Great museum with so much history. My highlight was the walk through old testament tour, but the old Bibles and manuscript section was also very impressive. You can save $5 by booking tickets online. Normal admission $24.99, online $19.99

This was truly an amazing eye opening experience!! There is soooo much to see and do!! I loved the 3D interactive tour!! I had no idea the museum was so huge!! We only saw half of one floor, broke for lunch and still didnt see everything!! And there are seven floors!!! We have already planned our next visit... we will probably need several visits to be honest!! So I will definitely be getting a membership for free entrance as well as tours for special sections!! Love this museum!!
