We had a 3-hour night tour of the monuments. It was perfect. Monuments at night are beautiful. We had a car and driver, in addition to the tour guide, so we got the guide’s undivided attention. The next morning, The guide took us to Mount Vernon, followed by lunch in Alexandria, and dropped us at the airport. Both tours were absolutely perfect in every detail.

Wow. Where can I even begin....Let me just start by saying Id just moved to DC (yes, during a pandemic). I had a boat tour planned where I intended to propose to my partner for early Nov and the captain of that tour canceled on me about a week before. Of course, that sent me scrambling to find alternative plans to propose before the weather turned cold. (Hey Im from California, ok, dont give me too much of a hard time)I found Custom Tours of DC via an exhaustive Google search and sent a message in on November 2nd hoping for a miracle that theyd be able to put together a boat tour for me and my partner THAT SAME WEEKEND. (Mind you, Id already gotten several No responses by this point from people who told me they were closed for the season starting on Oct 31st.)Adam got back to me the very next day and said he had a boat, captain, and a tour guide whod be willing to make my proposal trip happen. After a small email issue we got everything booked on the Thursday before I planned to propose. (Crazy!)They coordinated everything I needed and even helped me to disguise the photographer Id already arranged to join as a part of the experience in a way that left my partner (and now fiancee) completely unsuspecting. Our tour guide Bob was amazing and came through with all the local food recommendations he could think of after delivering a ridiculous level of historical facts about everything DMV related. (Seriously, the guys knows more black history than me and thats saying a lot.) It was literally the most beautiful day/evening spent with an amazing crew of folks. Glenn (the captain) and Bob (the tour guide) were the most chill dudes and I honestly couldnt have imagined it turning out any better.Custom Tours of DC will forever be apart of me and my partners story of getting engaged on a boat tour during the sunset as we sailed under the Fredrick Douglas bridge.Highly. Adam, we had a perfect day on a 3 hr tour of Washington DC. What a wonderful and smooth driver was Francisco. Extremely polite, always opened my wifes door. Rebekah was the best. Friendly, bubbly, and very knowledgeable of DC and its history. We most enjoyed the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and also Lincoln memorial. More amazing is that you arranged all this on a 3 hr notice after our days plans had changed unexpectedly. We are senior citizens, fairly mobile, and very glad that as two people in the back of an immaculately clean Audi A8, we could stop for a bathroom break, a Panera sandwich when hungry and get a smooth ride home.Again 5/5 stars review from 2 very picky customers.Scott & Polly Pierce.

Our family book a tour back in July while visiting the DC area. I have to say it was well worth the money paid. Larry was extremely knowledgeable and gave us facts that we wouldnt have known if we had tried to tour DC on our own. From the pick up to our hotel to the end of the tour at Iowa Jima it was great day for us. We were really taken care of during our tour. I would high recommend Custom Tours of DC to anyone. This tour was the highlight of our trip and was AMAZING!!! I can’t begin to explain how it made DC come alive for my family! Monte was so knowledgeable, so engaging, so excited about the sites and the history behind them, he engaged my children, taught them so much I asked him so many questions he completely made history come alive from for all of us! We saw things we never dreamt of seeing, in addition to all the main icons in DC, we went through Georgetown drove by the Embassies the Cathedral, all kinds of special places. Monty was an amazing tour guide! He was incredibly intelligent and knew all the answers to every question I had - and I didn’t have many because he knew so many details to begin with! The driver, Russell, was great as well. We never got lost or had any issues with navigating, etc. I would definitely recommend this tour company for someone visiting DC for the first time.

Called at last minute and we were booked for a trip 2 hours later. Johanna was great to us. As others were being herded like cats to buses we were able to make it very customized to what we wanted to see.

Rebecca was amazing. Exactly what I had hoped for and more. She knew everything. We asked many questions and she was able to answer to the last detail. It is clear that she loves history and loves what she does. All of the girls and the other mother adored the trip. It was a game changer for them as far as studying and being in DC. I contacted Custom Tours of DC to make arrangements for our organization’s Washington retreat. Although I wasnt unable to give them much advance notice, they were extremely accommodating! Loved the knowledge & passion displayed by our tour guide, Monty about Washington DC, government, history & politics. Wealth of information and offered a unique perspective on the rights of citizens that are not afforded everywhere around the world! He compared and contrasted his experiences in the former Yugoslavia and current Kosovo to those we experience in the USA. He was flexible as well when our children got tired and helped us with narrowing down where we wanted to spend our future days and what to skip.

All I can say is WOW!!! I am an Executive Assistant who wanted to plan a memorable team building experience for my leadership team while in DC. I stumbled across this tour company while doing research on the area and from my very first phone call they were completely professional! I even got a personal call from the owner to ensure all of our needs would be met. For my private group of 14 they recommended the convertible Mercedes van which on a beautiful spring evening was spectacular! The tour guide LARRY CLARK was PHENOMENAL!!! His knowledge of US history combined with his passion of the subject and sense of humor had us all engaged completely! We had planned on a shortened version of the tour because we had such a tight and exhausting agenda however this was so SPECIAL we stayed out almost our entire four hours! The first day we had George who was awesome. He took us to see things that we would have never known about. The second day we were with Bob. Bob got us into the Archives when I thought it was hopeless. Both guides were very knowledgeable and accommodating. My parents weren’t able to walk far but they both were super sweet and helped out with this. Very patient men:) Ceaser and Mark were our drivers and were also very helpful. We had to cancel our trip last minute and reschedule, but Adam was easily able to accommodate our large group. We spent an entire day seeing the highlights of DC, which isnt nearly enough time! The 3 hour evening tour was fantastic. Next time i will do 5 hours as the 3 felt like 45 minutes. This tour was well worth the money! A fantastic experience. We probably saved ourselves a whole day of our vacation because we were able to see so many sights in a short period of time, thanks to the driver picking us up at the curb and the guide knowing what places to see in what order. We saved our feet from walking and the headache and cost of trying to figure out where to park. The guide gave us so much great info that we wouldn’t have known if we had toured on our own. He was fun and perceptive...our whole family of 5 enjoyed the evening very much. Highly recommend!

Great company! Scheduling our private tour with Adam was done with ease. After hearing what we wanted, he arranged transportation and a guide. My wife and I spent the day in a Mercedes Sprinter Van touring D.C. with our 7 kids. Bob was our personal guide who was well versed in everything D.C. and history in general. Very personable. He made things very interesting and fun for everyone. Its definitely a tough thing to do with our 7 (ages 3-13), but he was great! Cant forget our driver, Russell, who seemed to get us from place to place effortlessly even in heavy traffic. Highly recommend them!

My tour guide, Adam, came up with a nice custom package.We started with from a marina. The captain took us up to Georgetown Waterfront. Adam pointed out monuments along the way. Seeing the Lincoln memorial from the water was really cool. Adam also filled us in on historic significance of some of the features like the mouth of the C&O canal. The tour continued upstream where we stopped and were able to swim at the Three Sisters. I had specified a nice picnic which Adam had ready to go.As involved as our tour was I found the pricing very reasonable, considering a private boat tour and a sizeable boat as well.Adam arranged everything, soup to nuts.

My nonprofit organization was looking for someone to take us around DC and show us the sights at night. Considering most of us were local we were looking for something low key, but fun. The memorials at night are fantastic.- It’s not for everyone, but those interested in religion will get a LOT out of the Religious Heritage Tour.

I want to express my appreciation for the job Custom Tours of DC did for me and my family. I could have driven them around, but I would have spent so much time trying to park and dealing with traffic. Instead I booked a private tour. Adam worked with me over the phone setting up our itinerary. We went in an SUV with our guide Tracy and our driver Monte for a 5 hour tour. They took us to the memorials on the Mall, into the National Cathedral, and we drove around to all the sites we wanted to see. Ive been in DC for 11 years now, but I never learned so much until this tour. Tracy was amazing with her knowledge of history and the city. Custom Tours of DC is a great way to have a group see areas not open to normal free public tours. Adam was able to get two of my groups into areas of the Capital not open to normal public tours. This involved getting information to Adam early so he could personalize the tours for us.We also had Adam take the groups to Mt. Vernon for a personal tour of the mansion and grounds. “The monuments at night are Epic!”Especially when they are accompanied by wine! Let me back up a bit. I wanted to plan a special night with my fiancé. We both live in DC and have seen many of the sights, but I wanted to do something special that’s specific to DC before she had to go away for an internship. I thought of a night tour coupled with a nice meal and chilled wine. Adam at Custom Tours of DC put together an evening limousine tour of the monuments and a picnic that turned out amazing. Our guide Larry started off in the back of the limo with a tour. He knew his facts well, but more than that, it was the way he was able to tell the stories that made it so good. I don’t usually write reviews, but I had to this time. The private tour I booked with Custom Tours of DC for me and my 13 year old son was outstanding. It was his first trip to DC, and I wanted him to get an introduction to congress and the government. Adam worked with us to get a reservation on a Capitol tour, and he was able to take us around to the congressional offices, committee meetings, and the Library of Congress. We even went through a few tunnels between the buildings, which my son thought was pretty cool. We ended the day with a tour of the memorials on the mall. Thanks for setting up such a perfect day!

It rained at the start of the tour, but the tour was still was worth it because of the rainbow it created right over the buildings. We got some awesome pictures. Adam was an amazing guide! Not only was he knowledgeable about the landmarks and history of D.C., he knew all the alternate routes to keep us moving through our tour while the pope was in town! Most people would not have attempted to even try to get a motorcoach tour through the national mall at a time like that, but Adam cleared his schedule, met us at our hotel, and adjusted the tour and route so that we felt like WE were the celebrities in town!
