Pretty easy hike, but as I discovered today, not very suitable for someone pushing a wheelchair. Easy walk tho if its just a walk. And there are horses to watch too.

The trails are awesome. I look forward to the season when you can go off the beaten path and go explore the large rocks. Currently it is closed sometime in February until the end of July. Once it opens up come August Im going to be all over this place.

Beautiful spot. Great place to see wildlife, cows and horses! Ive seen rattlers and tarantulas out here, s get your camera ready! If you go far enough out, you will be alone with nature; even on the weekend.

Beautiful but because of Covid-19 some of the park is closed. We couldnt see the sand formations because the Perrigan Falcons are nesting. We are definitely going back.

Really good hiking trails that are good for all ages. There are options to take more difficult routes, but the main trail is fairly easy. Some small hills & a couple really fun caves to explore. There is access to water & bathrooms at the entrance. Plus there is a pool & park near the main entrance, but I have not used either. Last time we went we found a really cool tarantula.

Very cool rock formations to see. However, all the trails except for the Stage Road are steep fire roads, some badly eroded. Even though I came during the middle of the day on a weekday the park was full of off leash dogs that were NOT under any semblance of voice control as required by Ordinance 38. I had to use my hiking pole to fend off the dogs.

This is such a peaceful and wonderful hike, with nice views of the mountains, there are some water crossings and lots of cows. I really enjoyed it and am planning to go back for a picnic as there are many tables and benches throughout the hike.

On the northern, lower slopes of Mt. Diablo, this secluded regional park is accessed by a two lane, in out road that is fully paved...but that was done long, long ago. there is parking for about 150-200, most of which is not shaded. there is an open picnic area adjacent to the trailhead, but if you hike or mountain bike, bring water, because the north and east slopes of Diablo are unforgiving. there is an equestrian center nearby which is a pleasant way to pass the time after a day in the hills. sorry, no pics. the trees make it tough to get a representative shot.

I have been blessed knowing Ron & Ruth Ford since the 60s. My Mom was a Life Guard there for years. We were there every day during the Summer months. Our family had ur Family Reunions there for several years. Excellent surroundings to stay the whole day. Big Oak Trees shading the grass area. The lawn area also had places to get a tan. Great clean changing rooms, showers, and the parks layout you always had a scenic backdrop. Baseball Field, Volleyball, hicking, dance floor area & Jukebox. I started working in the Snack Shack with Ruth Ford & loved it. I also flipped burgers, worked the major corporate private company Picnics.I too was a life guard there. I moved to the San Mateo County for 18 yesrs. I have driven to Castle Rock Park since I moved back to Concord. I will never forget the Fords, its the greatest place on earth I might drive up there next week. the memories

This park is so beautiful and filled with various amenities; picnic table, grills, huge field, trails, pool, basketball courts. Its great! We go there at least twice a month and its never crowded. If you need a walk in nature or just a place to relax come here.

For climbing this is a very rich area. BUT, it is a mile mildly uphill hike to get to the turn out for the pine canyon/castle rock. Then its across a creek and up steep unmarked canyons. The trails are not marked after the turn up hill. Mountain project is a great resource but it will require a full morning of strenuous recon before the pay off. The payoff are amazing views and flakey sandstone cliffs. The creek is nice to hike along in winter but dry in summer. Overall, excellent for adventuring but not for a casual day climb.
