I was going for a stroll on the boardwalk and stopped by the surf museum with my son for a change of scenery and some air conditioning. For just a few bucks we could read up on the history of the area but this place wasn’t really made for kids under six.Plenty of exhibits, lots of history to be shared and even a fun video. If you read everything it would take an hour but a fast stroll can get you in/out in 15 minutes.

Such a nice hidden gem right along the boardwalk. Past it quite a few time before we finally visited, but so happy we finally stopped. We walked around without a tour guide, but you can also get a guided tour. Price was very reasonable about $5-$10.

Really nice displays and history of the surf and rescue as well as the coast guard. Nice gift shop with goods from local artists, which is great to not have everything made in China.

A detailed history of a bygone era. If youre a history buff and was previously in or is in the US Coast Guard this is a cool place to visit. Memorabilia and photos from a time when the USCG was The Lifesaving Service. The building itself reminds me of my old station in NC: Oregon Inlet.. (the old one under the dunes...south of the bridge.)

Very rude staff of women. An older gentleman took us on a tour and he was knowledgeable and friendly however the old women and one slightly younger women who contributed no knowledge but much unprofessionalism. They need more actual veterans or intelligent people who know and appreciated this place.
