I love this gym. The staff is very friendly and always greets me by name. The routes change often so theres no getting bored. And while its a bit smaller than some other gyms it has a real sense of family, plus its almost half the price of some of the larger less personal gyms. Theyve also done a fantastic job at keeping customers safe during the pandemic.
Just moving back to the area. Went in tonight and was able to find out about setting up climbing times and about the equipment they sell. This place is great, not only do they have an awesome facility, but the cleanliness protocols they have implemented are second to none. Knowledgeable, friendly staff and a great facility, what more could you ask for?
I love this gym. My partner and I have been members for years. The staff is caring and friendly.
First time going everyone was super helpful and I had a blast. Definitely coming back!
I started climbing 7 years ago at Source, everyone is great and friendly . I am83 and I recommend that you visit source and take a test climb you may be surprised in the experience.
Hey! :)I got a member ship to this place last year and can not be more satisfied!!! Amazing people who works there, very friendly, helpful and experienced! Always smile on their faces when you come in :) that makes your day! Membership 100% worth it! Unfortunately had to cancel it, because I moved to another place, but I will come back when I visit town for sure! :) Can’t wait!
Awesome place and idea to take the kids. But beware, unless you’re with a member, this place is absurdly expensive. Like whoa. lol.Kids had a great time though. The gal who ‘showed us the ropes’ was awesome and very friendly.
This is a great place for beginners and experts to learn or practice climbing. Safety is important here and the staff is amazing. very friendly and loves to help regardless of your skill level. If you’ve never done and want to try you will feel comfortable here.My daughter is learning to climb here and Im very happy with the price, instructors, facility and courses.
Was here for an 8 yr olds birthday party. We were greeted by a very friendly girl who directed us to the party. The instructors were awesome with the kids. They gave clear instructions, were very attentive and it was obvious they enjoy what they do! The kids were engaged the whole time and were having a blast. We will be back for lessons. Would highly recommend this place to friends and family.
I joined the gym last month, and the number of unsupervised children is terrifying. It seems like every time I go I have to tell kids that the weight area is not a playground. Its an accident waiting to happen. Nothing against the staff, they correct behavior when they see it; but they dont have enough staff to babysit and a lot of parents dont supervise their kids. Otherwise they make good use of the small space, they set a good variety of interesting routes and change it up frequently. Would recommend going an hour or two before closing if you want a safe environment to climb in, its less overrun then.
I am not a gym climber. Theyre smelly, confined, play lousy music and have way too many people in them. That being said, when youre relegated to climb indoors, the Source is great! Not as smelly, decent music, can avoid the crowds when timed right and best of all, the staff. Very cool people! You guys rock!
Took my kids who are 5 and 7 there yesterday for the first time. We left to get lunch and my kids couldn’t wait to go back. So we went back. This morning they asked if they can go back today, so back we go. Staff is friendly, helpful, and very patient and engaged with my kids.
Really nice climbing gym, with lots of routes. It can get pretty busy in the evenings, but still is workable. The employees are helpful and I have really enjoyed climbing here!
Loved this place! They have top rope, belet, and bouldering, as well as a small gym and section for kids. Its relatively small but theres a surprising number of routes and the staff is AWESOME. So helpful and down to earth, I will definitely be coming back with my niece soon.
Excellent staff, great routes changed weekly, and safety is top priority! Ive been bringing my son here since he was 3 years old and he is still in love with the place.
Been going there several times a week since they opened! Theres always a wide range of routes and usually a few that I cant even get to the top of in the three months that theyre up :-) challenges are good!
The source is easily the worst gym in the area. Narrow selection of routes that all feel the exact same. The settlers here have a serious lack of creativity. if somebody took me to the source for my first time climbing I would probably think climbing as a sport sucked. I hope they go out of business. Dont go here.
Great local indoor crag. Come get you grip on
Great facility! Very safety conscious and friendly too! Keep in mind that they have a reputation for grading their routes hard!
Super friendly Staff, fun sized facility but everything you need
Took a belay class from Hannah and it was great! I feel confident in my new skills and look forward to getting more into climbing, definitely will be back!
Great fun place to workout. Climbing is a Great workout. They have some very great climbs. This a place for your first try at climbing or even lead climber. They have great training and the local collages even high schools use this place for there training programs. The people here are so great at helping. They even have great store dog. After she get to know youll have friend for life. If you need a place for a first date this could be so much fun. From little kids to the old like me youll have a great time. The prices are good. They have all the gear youll need. They sell somethings too. STOP BY AND TAKE A LOOK AND A TRY. Maybe well see each other there.
Great climbing center, staff is super helpful. Keep up the good work guys!
Great place to workout and have fun Climbing. Good people too help you out. They great for learning from the first time. Or if you know how to climb. They have great teacher at all levels. The rentals you what you and need. You can even buy a few things too.
Good teachers. Pretty busy all the time
Ive been a member of this gym for over a year now. Friendly staff, amazing people, challenging routes, and of course there is Coava Bean, the best gym dog ever. It can be busy at times, but I love coming here! If you are new to climbing, the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. There are classes to learn how to belay, lead climb, improve technique, and more.
Awesome gym, had a great time working 5.6 to 5.9 routes. Met a really cool belay partner. Definitely hoping to make it back to this spot.
Great place to climb in vancouver. Everyone there is awesome and the routes change out enough to make coming back every week a fresh experience.
My husband and I visited here for the first time, it was an amazing experience. The staff is very friendly. Bryan our belay instructor was super helpful and we loved his jokes. It can be super scary trying new things but the environment here and the other climbers are so inviting that it put us at ease. My husband and I are severely afraid of heights and it was nice to feel so much support while trying to conquer this on our first try with wall climbing. We definitely may have found a new hobby.
Welcoming atmosphere, but presents difficulty for parents with children who climb. My son was allowed to Boulder because he is on a team, but he has been climbing for six years and wasnt always on a team...I find these types of restrictions extremely frustrating and somewhat galling.
FUN FUN FUN!Great staff and friendly atmosphere here! Routes are changed up on a regular basis too. Plenty of routes to choose from on all climbing levels!Ive taken a few classes here as well and the instructors have been great as well.
Something for everyone here. New routes regularly
I went for my nephews birthday party and we had a blast! ALL associates were super friendly, nonjudgemental, happy and so much fun to hang out with while we climbed. By the end of it we felt like they were just invited to the party. Extremely helpful with all ages of kids.that attend the party! Highly reccomend doing a childs birthday party here, its not the typical, bowling or arcade setting which made it fun and so interesting!! You can climb in what ever you show up in or rent straps or shoes! There was street parking and the place are multiple spots to climb up.Highly highly recommend this place! Atleast check out one time, it will be worth it!!
First time climbing and this place was so much fun! A little pricey, but it lasts all day. Fun for everyone!
Super friendly staff. New routes going up all the time. Always fun!
This place is amazing. The staff is super friendly and extremely helpful, and they keep the place ridiculously clean for a climbing gym. The people who climb here are also amazingly friendly and kind and will help with beta on routes, technique, etc. This is a real community and I cant say how fabulous it is.
My 10 year old loves climbing! Great friendly and knowledgeable staffs makes it enjoyable and we’ll come back for sure when he’s older!
Ive been a member here for about a year now. The staff are super nice and helpful. The routes are good (and rated pretty well) its always a fun time even when its busy.
I love the Source! A great place for both experienced and beginning climbers. You wont find a better atmosphere anywhere! The staff is beyond amazing, making sure everyones being super safe while having a good time. I could not recommend the Source more!
We went for a 5 year olds birthday party, all the staff were friendly and very helpful! Everything was pretty well-organized! The center was clean, kids had a great time!
Very cool place! Good prices and great service
Nice little gym. Routes change on a regular basis.
Awesome place for beginners, we watched a lot of advanced people too. The staff were very helpful and we had a really good time.
Really nice spot to climb. Pretty small and most of it is belaying, so if you are going there to boulder theres not alot of it. But for belaying its great! The guy that works there is super friendly and helpful and we never felt rushed out at closing time. My only suggestion would be to have some music, it was a little quiet for my taste. But otherwise we had a great time!
The staff here is awesome! Great with kids and super helpful regardless of your skill level.
Source Climbing Center was a cool place to spend an afternoon. Day passes are reasonably priced and there were no significant hoops to jump through before being able to climb.Megan was nice and helpful.
On the smaller side, but there are around 5 autobelays, an overhanging lead wall, and a bouldering area. The grades are legit and I liked the setting. Staff was nice, too.
Great indoor rock glimbing gym. They have auto-belays, top rope, lead climbing, and bouldering. The upstairs has a small weights and exercise area as well as a kids section.
This place is great. Newbies get a lot of help with the auto-belays and theres a fair amount of belay / top rope routes if you prefer those as well. Bouldering is available off to the side too. Staff is very helpful and friendly! Great place!
3 stars as far as modern climbing gyms go... but 4 stars for being the only gym in Vancouver. The pros:1. The setting isnt too easy. Assuming the tweaky problems dont hurt you, youll get strong if you climb here.2. Its a GREAT deal for the money. Sure, the place is smaller, but if youre a resourceful person, its got everything you need to make you a strong, fit climber.3. Great location for those of us north of the river.4. The staff is great and everybody there is friendly and encouraging. The cons:1. Its small. Bouldering is a constant challenge in choosing problems that dont top out over somebody. If the busy nights had any more people, itd actually be a problem.2. Too many auto-belays and a second floor that is both useless to an adult climber and always empty. But Im sure when the day comes, Ill be glad birthday parties happen up there, and not in the main area.3. Grimy old holds. Not much that can be done about that I suppose, because holds are $$$.4. The setting is clunky and just not that fun. The movement in particular is lacking. Hastily thrown together problems that probably work better for smaller people/kids. It IS plenty hard though, which is better than the alternative.5. There are a TON of spinners. Havent had so many holds spin on me anywhere. I think its the wall texture. Keeps things interesting I guess.Overall, great value and more than enough for most climbers. Will definitely continue to use if I stay up north.
I saw pictures of a birthday party that one of our gymnastics friends had hosted here. I never knew the place existed and was SO excited to show this place to my kids. They had traveled alongside the national Guard and their rock wall in the summer and they couldnt make a hard enough climb for them, and good lord they tried.. Anyways, my daughters birthday was a few weeks away, so we were going to go there out this facility to see about having her birthday there. I had my 2 kids, and a child that is with me 90% of the time because of her drugged out parents. The TERRIBLE customer service I received by the black haired lady at the front desk was apolling. Said I couldnt sign for the 3rd if I didnt have court documentation of her being mine. Whatever, Ill call the parent, even though I have her insurance card and sign for her on everything... so I go over to the computer to sign for my legit 2 kids, and she literally starts yelling (repeatedly) at us from across the lobby that 1)I cant sign a waiver for her (if she would have stopped yelling and watched I was going to call her parent to see if they werent too strung out to sign a waiver online.. 2) yelled that she couldnt even be in the facility without one.. (did I need to escorted her out while signing a waiver??) Is this how you normally treat new guests? When we have a party we go all out and invite whomever they want, including their families. I work in at a school and could have sent alot of people your way, I can make sure to tell them not to waste their time.
Great place. Very caring and attentive staff
Great gym in the heart of Vancouver with very friendly staff that helped us tremendously with our kids first time.
Friendly and helpful staff, affordable rates, and plenty of climbing space. I use the bouldering wall and auto belays often and rarely have to wait. They also have top rope routes, lead routes, and a bouldering treadmill. Vancouver is lucky its only rock gym is a great one!
Route setting here is pretty spot-on.
Small gym, few bouldering routes, climbing routes overlap with bouldering routes so when its busy, they are difficult to access.
I love this gym!
Awesome staff and friendly atmosphere. Great classes to learn and good variety of climbs
Very friendly and helpful staff. We had never tried the automatic belay before but it’s great. Definitely recommend for some climbing fun.
The people at Source are great and they foster a fun and supportive atmosphere. They have been very helpful in my journey as a beginning climber and prepared me very well for transitioning to outdoor climbing!
Great place for children’s birthday party’s, the staff is friendly and helpful
Awesome place to climb, and the only joint in town. They change their routes often, and has a great atmosphere. A ton of climbing routes and bouldering too.
Really great place. Friendly staff, love the auto belay system. Gives you a great workout.
Great rock gym and atmosphere, just wish they had a slightly larger bouldering section, but they have a lot for the space theyre working with. The people here are amazing.
Realkt helpful staff. Inviting. Friendly.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Its obvious that they all love climbing, their work, and the people they work with. Its a bit busy if you go around 4pm, but other than that a very laid back and affordable climbing gym. Compare rates and population density work PRG and planet granite. This place is a good value .
The source is great, both entry level and advanced routes for all. Staff is friendly and the place is clean and has a wonderful environment.
Been climbing here for around eight months and have always felt comfortable with the friendly staff and other climbers.Ive taken Climb 201 and 301 and have been impressed by the instruction and follow up.Facilities are clean and routes are added often. If youve never climbed before, youre a seasoned pro, or anywhere in the middle, youll find something your speed at The Source. Highly recommended.
I love this place. Great climbing, friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Come climb! One of the best things Ive ever done :)
Always enjoy climbing here. Great staff!
Great place for a good climb. There staff is layed back friendly and very organized, the gym is well maintained and has climbs for all skill levels.
Fun place to take the family in rainy weather. Helpful staff. Be aware that during birthday parties the entire second floor is off limits to kids, which is tough on the weekends for school agers.
If i could rate this even higher i would! This is the best place ever for adults and children! We have always had such a wonderful experience and love the staff.... Staff recognition goes too Brian and Megan, we recently had my daughters 7th birthday there and was so impressed with how well they did with the kids and also loved how they bounced ideas off each other! THANKS AGAIN!!!
First rock gym Ive been to and I love it! They change up their walls and routes to keep it interesting and the people who work there are so great. We have two kids in their summer camp right now and its been awesome for them!! Glad we found this place :)
Love climbing here! Great vibe, good people, and knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Great place to climb. The staff are awesome and work very hard to make everything as safe as possible. They have auto belay systems, top ropes, lead climbing, and bouldering. Its a lot of fun if you go by yourself, with another person, or with a group.
Nice option on wet days and chilly nights. Great staff and lots of puzzles on the walls
Friendly staff, realistic routes, and supportive environment.
A knowledgable and always friendly staff. As a chronic novice climber, I love the assortment of routes they have. Theres something for every climbing level at the Source. And they change the routes often!
The employees are all super friendly and helpful, facilities are well kept, and lots of fun routes to climb! Love it here.
Fun place for the family. Friendly staff. Lots of climbing space with auto belay.
Lots of fun to have for all ages.
I live nearby and am lucky to have this as my prime climbing gym. As mentioned in other reviews the size of the gym is on the smaller side but extremely high quality per square inch. Great staff everytime I have used the gym and all routes are very well taken care of! Definitely recommended!
Small but nice climbing spot with friendly staff for the Vancouver community with stiffly rated routes. Pay no mind to that 10 year old climbing 5.10- that felt like 5.11 at PRG and making you feel like an ant.
Super friendly, great for kids, they even have a slide that the kid has to climb up a wall to get to you
Nice climbing gym, nice people
This is an all around great climbing gym.It has a few auto belays, two dozen top ropes, a lead section, large bouldering area, workout area, and a kids area.Plenty of beginner routes but lots of very challenging ones as well. The staff is super friendly and they refresh the routes at a good rate too.
