Beautiful course with great views but thats about it. Staff in the clubhouse were not at all friendly and did little to make us feel welcome to the course. There are no signs or maps of the holes at the tee boxes so you often have to guess. The carts and equipment are generally dated and rundown. No ball washers or club washers along the course which seems odd given how muddy and dirty the course was in many spots. Drink cart lady was not very friendly.Novice golfers on a very difficult course so we ran out of balls and was surprised the drink cart lady, several staff that drove by on carts, or staff at the clubhouse were not willing to help get us more balls. When leaving the same unfriendly man in the clubhouse just stared at us while we left. No thank you or how was it?. Have played just as nice courses with far better amenities and service for a fraction of the cost.
Great course but not for beginners. Now for the bad part. First two days I played the 9 hole course and it was great. The third day, I played the 18 and there was no place to even buy water. I was told that the cart would be by but it never showed. The cart died on hole 14 and I couldnt finish the course because there was no one to help. When I got back to the clubhouse with a push from another cart, no one was around.
I love this facility. It has 3 9-hole courses. It is quite challenging and maybe not the best for casual golfers. It offers stunning views of the area. The staff is friendly and helpful. If youre in the area and want a nice golf service, you have to come here! Its one of the top three courses in the area.
We just golfed last Saturday. The fairways are disjointed. There are no images on the signs at each tee. It was hard to see whether they were doglegs left or right unless you follow the carts ahead of you. One sign pointed us into a bush instead of pointing left at a Y in the cart path. I would get a yardage book if you are playing for the first time, if available. I did not see one at the desk. Great vistas there!!
One of my favorite course in Tucson. Not the easiest golf course, with a few blind shots and forced carries but great views and has been in excellent condition every time Ive played it the past three years.
Greens were great and the course is in really good condition considering it’s August. Had a great round. Kudos to the greens keepers and staff.
Course was in good shape. FUN!
Great location on west side to Tucson, grounds well kept, staff helpful and friendly, next to golf course, well kept rooms with very nice furnishings.
Challenging as all get out but what a fun day. Choose your tees wisely and download Swing by Swing to help you get around. Jaw dropping scenery...stunning. Every single person on staff was so friendly. Cant wait to come back next year!!
Great greens and views of Tucson. Unfortunately this place is painfully slow. Three hours to make the turn and unfriendly staff that believe this is the best club in Tucson. Many other tracks in the area worth a visit before Starr Pass.
Good lunch! Liked the Turkey Club.
Amazingly beautiful desert course. Long, unusual hazards and you utilize your golf skills here.
Enjoy this course will come back
Challenging desert coarse and excellent friendly staff.
Golf was great. Cart ladie was really rude. Ruined the rest of the day
Played last week. Fairways were full of dirt and mud. Much worse than other resort courses in Tucson this summer. Honestly, the fairways were much worse than the rough in many places. Greens were excellent though, as were the staff.
Had a lovely time resting and enjoying the even view. Close to town. Totally recommend a stay here.
Played for my birthday in November and had an awesome time! Would definitely play the courses again as soon as I can
Pristine condition, great layout need to hit straight though
My wife and I got to stay at the Starr Pass suites which included this golf club. while theyre in the middle of renovating most of the suites we found it most relaxing to Nestle in the western mountains of Tucson. We enjoyed their very well maintained pool and they had plenty of amenities such as trail maps, excercise room. I woul lookup up Groupon for the golf course very good deals. The staff was very helpful. The room is clean and the bed was very comfortable. While these suites re away from the main part of the city you will do well to bring some groceries to the room so you can stay and enjoy the facility. The Catalina BBQ which is on the golf course has one several awards for its brisket. I did not get to try it this trip but I will next time.
We played on Christmas day. I had to rent clubs. The course only had one option - a Taylor Made M6 set with regular flex shafts. The guy said the course had 60 sets of them. For a course that charges over $70 for rentals - it would be nice if there were options. Stiff shafts and a better players club option. I asked the guy in the pro shop if he had any other options and he couldnt have cared less. When the outside staff brought me my rented clubs, every single one of them was filthy - Covered in mud - even the driver. The driver had impact markings all of it - even all over the top of the club. So out of 60 sets, I believe I got the one that was in the worst possible condition. We stopped in the clubhouse after the front nine for a quick lunch. Apparently, a quick lunch is not an option at Starr Pass. Any food order would take a minimum of 20 minutes just to receive the food - and that wasnt guaranteed said the bartender. We had to opt for candy bars instead of real food. After the round, the outside staff was nowhere to be found.I paid for all four people in my group plus the club rental. It totaled over $470. Its a shame because the course was fantastic - but the overall experience was worse than any municipal course in Tucson.
I am not a golfer. i joined colleagues for a round while we were in town for training. i had a very enjoyable time. beautiful course. fantastic staff. also enjoyed their bbq. delicious ribs, brisket, and great drinks. would recommend to anyone.
One of the top three best golf courses in the entire Tucson area. Great design.
Very quiet during monsoon season. Great bbq at Catalina BBQ. Pool and spa. Spacious units.
Great course. Difficult for a beginner. Beautiful desert scenery, plant and wildlife. Enjoyed every minute!
Was in good shape. No food available.
Great layout, enjoyed the aesthetics
NOT HAPPY! We played today Mon the 22 we were charged $25 extra for separate carts! 2 weeks ago it was$15. Not for nothing but the full time summer residents should be treated a little better in my view point!
Quiet and beautiful location. Nature comes to visit. Great scenery.
Beautiful course! Tough, narrow fairways on the Rattler and Roadrunner courses. Greens were very slow. Amazing scenery and wildlife. The course was in amazing condition.
5 star experience from bag drop to 18th green. Stunning desert course
The service personnel welcoming and friendly. They helpful and very accommodating
Staff was super polite & friendly. The course was gorgeous and very challenging. The views are breath taking. Will be back!
Living just off one of the tees on this course, its understandable there will be times when grounds maintenance will be out doing their thing. But under what logic did someone make the call that 530am is an acceptable time to go out with gas powered weed eaters and leaf blowers mere feet from the residences? Are you kidding me? I get home from work at midnight. Who made the poor executive decision deciding its perfectly fine to get people out of bed at 530am? Getting lawn maintenance done before the sun gets high in the sky is not an acceptable excuse. Before it gets too hot is not an acceptable excuse. I myself work outside during the hottest time of the day. If I can do it, grounds keepers can do it. For several weeks now, the absence of simple logic and critical thinking skills has been apparent with the appearance of gas powered lawn equipment before 7am. Stop it.
Beautiful day in the desert and the course was in great shape- greens were true and fast. Service was excellent!
Awsome place, room are quiet when you shut the doors. But the doors have a one way lock from the out side(in the main room)
Awesome golf!!! The views are amazing and golf course is in great condition. Definitely one to keep in mind.
Wonderful course good shape but need Marshalls. At was very very slow.
Awesome course. I would rate the course fairly high on the difficulty level and not a course for beginners or short hitters. Loads of gulleys and washes to drive over. Longer course. Exceptional views. Manicured to perfection. Lightning fast greens. The starter said You cant read these greens but you sure will remember them He was right with putting the leading cause of a higher score. Highly recommend it !
Its just a beautiful course overall. Beautiful scenery, friendly staff, wildlife, I would reccomend to anyone
I was there visiting a family member for the holidays, I got lost so I stopped and asked a housekeeper by the name of Lety (at least thats what her name badge said) for directions. She was very rude and disrespectful towards me & my family because she believed we didnt speak spanish, it was very unprofessional and it made my visit horrible. I called in to the hotel & I was transferred to someone by the name of ray who was a supposed manager, but the way our conversation went he made me feel as if nothing would get done. I do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel.
Nice place to play golf! Hard course though.
3.5 hour round of golf. Greens nice. Very wet with lots of plugged shots. Rattler fairways very thin. Coyote side in good shape.
Beautiful see me and our conference dumped a lot of people on them and they dealt with it graciously and quickly. food was amazing
Absolutely 5 stars. Everything about this place was wonderful. They were not hotel rooms....this was like a house with everything one needs including a dishwasher. The bed was amazing. The view was great.
Wonderful setting. Love the friendly staff and tequila shots.
We had a great time here and the staff was friendly and accommodating. They got rental clubs for each member of my family and made everything easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend.
Great Golf Course and Hotel. Pro Shop Personnel could be more friendlier. Why does Golf now get cheaper rates then the people staying at the hotel? Makes no sense.
Course is very green.Fairways were very wet and sand traps were lakes. Give them a break perhaps a monsoon last night. Long and challenging
It a great place to golf and view the city. More club!!
One of the toughest courses in Tucson. Also one of the nicest. Great staff as well. If you like a beautiful and challenging golf course you must play Starr Pass
Very beautiful golf course the people are nice and the scenery is gorgeous I would definitely golf here!!
Just simply peaceful, beautiful and relaxing.
Okay. A bit pricey for what they offer. The place is like a maze...so confusing.
The course is in great shape. Pace of play was great and the staff more than helpful. Saw the beverage cart 3 or 4 times through 18.
Wonderful place to stay and visit with desert wildlife...
Very nice golfing clubs and very hard to golf at Starr pass
I get to drive the cart. And lose some balls trying. Hahaha Fun with the boys, like it spending time with hubby.
Love the gym and the spa here!
After reading some reviews wife and I had some reservations about this resort/golf club. We traveled from Gilbert to visit the Sonoran Desert Museum. The room/suite was very clean and had obviously been recently renovated. The kitchen was fully equipped. It was clean and bright. We would definitely recommend it.
Casitas were ok. Coyotes and birds at the back door. Birders will enjoy the location.
JW Marriotts Starr Pass Resort rated 4-1/2 stars: home to an excellent 27-hole desert-style layout, comprising the Rattler, Roadrunner and Coyote nines. The elevated first tee on the Rattler, the longest of the three nines, gives you a sample of the spectacular views youll enjoy from the course. A dramatically scenic desert-style course that can challenge and please in equal measure.
We stayed in a condo this time (Ive stayed in the hotel before and loved it.) I love the area and the hotel, and walking around the grounds cant be beat. The condos are fine, but all the windows in ours looked at other condos and so are dark inside. And it seems like most of them are the same, but I couldnt be sure. Stay in the hotel instead with spectacular views, if you can.
Wonderful course. Great clubhouse. Excellent staff!
I have to say, as challenging as this course is, its one of my favorites. Im no scratch golfer, so I cant speak for the teas across the street, but I cant imagine being disappointed from a round here. Well worth it.
Second time playing. Great course. Lots of plane noise. The grill at clubhouse had servers that were indifferent to the point of being almost hostile both times we ate there.
Absolutely amazing. Beautiful resort, easy access, close enough to downtown and casino Sol. One of my favorite resorts in Arizona.
I dont know what happened to my original review. But more than happy to repost. This is truly an amazing hotel, location and service level. The staff are fabulous, nothing is too much trouble. Everyone gives a warm, friendly welcome to the hotel. The patio, bar and restaurants are 5☆ I cannot wait to visit this resort in the future
Amazing views fun course. Shot making needed. Tough greens
This is probably one of my favorite courses in Tucson. The course is very well taken care of, as well as being a beautiful desert course. Some holes are challenging, I lost 4 balls, but still a great course. Id recommend it to anyone.
Very nice
Playing here was a fantastic opportunity for me. This was by far the best course Ive ever played. Patient employees and very professional.
A home away from home with comfortable beds, nice kitchen, clean bathrooms, and cozy living room.
Great desert golfing, wonderful food, good service!
Windy and coid but in wonderful condition... still enjoyed the course.
Desert/target golf at its finest - and most picturesque. Be accurate off the tee or bring an extra dozen balls and just enjoy the great course.
BEAUTIFUL SETTING AND TOUGH COURSEAfter a 4 1/2 hour round in chilly weather at 5:45 PM, I forgot to stop and pick up my clubs at the drop. Went back at 7 PM and they were not to be found in the restaurant or hotel lobby. Called and pro shop did not know where they were. Called loss prevention and they did not have them. Figured they were gone, so my golf days are over. Got a call back from lost prevention and they were in the bell hop closet. Still have to golf, darn. Course is tough and very beautiful. Had tame dear on the greens throughout the round.
Great resort. Love our room. View of the dawn this morning. Relllaaaaxxxxiiing! Roomy, decent kitchen with gas stove. Lots of nearby attractions and groceries. Great desert landscaping! Definitely a repeat visit place.
Very well kept course, also challenging. Best to play with someone who has been here before. Lots of blind shots, but a fun course and usually well priced for its quality, especially on golf now
Wonderful resort. Cant wait to come back. Beautiful!
Very Challenging course from the black and gold tees. Fairways were being reseeded when we played and they let the greens grow to prepare damage, so they were really slow and driving on the fairways was prohibited on 9 holes. But overall a great course.
Cart path only and NOT told at checkin.
Excellent course. Highly recommend.
Nice view everywhere you go! The resort rooms are spacious. Its kinda hard to receive room service at time because they literally have to drive to your room. I felt like the rooms were a bit outdated with their accessories.
A great coarse tuff coarse good people in pro shop the coarse is in very good shape if visiting a must place to try your game
Awesome course. Friendly staff. No waiting during the week. Well maintained.
Great golf fantastic scenrry really good food.
Great golf course. Well maintained, friendly staff and clean facilities
Great golf. Excellent condition with fast fareways and greens. Although the fareways are generous, they require precision drives or roll off into the brush.
Played just yesterday morning, great course. Only grievance was this rude older woman working the refreshment cart that looked like she woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Rudely asking us to move our golf cart so she can go through. Also after taking a breakfast ball on the first tee with no one waiting behind us, she commented with a very demeaning tone, How many balls are you going to hit? Its called a mulligan. Seeing her around the course, she never asked us once if we wanted anything but continued on with a stern face. My advice is if you cant be nice to the customers, stay home. Not sure what was the cause of her poor attitude but what a disgraceful and embarrassing display from a worker of a seemingly high quality golf course.
Great golf course, shot placement is a must
Very hard, will not visit again for a while until my golf game is improved...very nice views and lots of wildlife though. Did do well on the Par 3s.
My favorite!! Beautiful area, lovely units! Quiet and away from the city noise.
Beautiful. Great views. Worth the trip
I work here your welcome
