Had a great time with our tour guide John. We had a private excursion through the canal with many interesting sightings of manatees, birds, and . The sunset was amazing and the view of the Rocket pad was awesome. Our guide had a lot of information as well as plenty of jokes. The bioluminescence was something to see. With every paddle stroke it was like lightning in the water. I highly recommend you try out this tour. You will enjoy it. Side Note: bring bug spray and you will enjoy it even better. Thank you for the awesome time.
While in Orlando, another guest suggested BK adventure & the bioluminescent kayak tour. It sounded amazing, how could we not check it out?! There are a few tour options, but BK Adventure came recommend & I know why.Elias was our guide, he was knowledgeable & we had a great time! All of The staff was really friendly & they had several tour options including rafting=something for everyone.Keep in mind the tour is at night & you will be paddling through the ocean current...I got a little intimidated at one point, but the added thrill was extra fun! With that being said, all safety gear & lesson provided :-)
My husband and I had an amazing time! Tuesday before last we did the Sunset kayak tour with Jon. It was beautiful watching the sun set over the water and we saw 4 different dolphins and a couple manatee which was so coo. We decided to go back last Saturday for the Bio-luminescence tour at 11pm and were blown away! Sebastian was our guide that night, the moon was beautiful and the water was like glass. The sparklies in the water were very cool and again we got to see a couple of dolphins playing. Both Jon and Sebastian were very knowledgeable and patient guides. Definitely recommend!!!
Our guide was Vincent and he was AMAZING! We went out hoping to see either a manatee or a dolphin. Not only did we see both, but in 2 different locations, the manatee kept coming over to us and LOVED to be petted. They were just laying in the water, rolling over on their bellies, and wanted to be petted. They would reposition themselves and come again, over and over. The baby was the cutest. I uploaded videos of our interactions with them. Vincent knew a lot about the local area, the animals, the fauna, and the locations. He was knowledgeable, respectful, and fun.
My wife and I had a great night tour to see some glowing jellies. Our guide, Eli, was awesome and knowledgeable. it was great to get out and see all the stars in the sky, the milky way and learn about biodiversity and see some amazing animals.
We booked the sunset/bioluminescence tour on 11/14/2020 and even though we had a good time there were some great things and some not do great.First the good: the guides were really good about making sure everything was working and everything was accounted for. They were always making sure everyone in the tour was accounted for and even stayed with those in the back so no one was left behind. They made sure we saw the bioluminescence and even had the knowledge to explain it. We thought they were professional and willing to answer any questions we had. We wish we would have seen more wild life at the beginning but we understand you can’t control the environment. Now the bad: when we checked in we were told we were going to be split into 2 groups but this was not the case. We had 24 people in our group and ended up going out with 12 boats. We had 2 child with us and we kept getting rammed into by other boats. There were other parties within our group who were “playing with each other” splashing and ramming each other which caused them to ram their boat into ours. Again we had children with us (11 and 7). We felt there were too many boats to try to navigate at night especially with this group because they were trying to get in front of each other and not paying attention and hitting other boats. Not safe at night. It was also hard to hear the guide at the front because we were in the back of the 12 boats. Even despite the disrespect of the other patrons we did have a good time. We just felt a smaller group would have been better.
This was so cool, and the staff was incredibly helpful in assisting me after I left my shoes at the launch site. Tips for your trip: Bring Bug Spray, schedule near a new moon, and if possible go during jelly AND plankton season (Oct/Nov). Have fun! :)
First- the good. The activity is really, really cool. Its one of the few places in Florida where you can do this, and if you can- you should see it in person. Our guides were good (Heather and Mo- both were terrific). The not-so-good. Arrivals were tremendously disorganized. There were multiple companies running tours at the same location- and there was no direction as to where to register (you arrive in the dark). Their weather/rain-check policy is ridiculous. Fortunately, we did not experience this, but it is pretty clear that if your trip is canceled due to severe weather, there are no refunds- just rain checks. If youre from out of town and dont intend to return any time soon, youre out of luck- so prepare to dispute the charge with your credit card company. If you have multiple people in your party (say you have 4), they will be putting you into two tandem kayaks. This is not clear in during their reservations process. If you want all 4 of your people in single kayaks, you have to tell them when you make your reservation. There were some people in our group who were expecting single kayaks who didnt get them.If you opt to pay for the upgrade for the clear bottom kayak, dont expect much. Actually, its like a canoe and a kayak had a baby- and the worst traits of both were inherited. Tremendously unstable, completely uncomfortable and an 18 wheeler is more maneuverable. Save the extra few dollars and get a regular kayak. The best activity is around you, not under you- and the clear kayak is simply a gimmick.Overall, its a neat excursion- and as long as you know what youre getting up front, its worth doing. Just get a regular kayak and pray for good weather.
My boyfriend and I just went yesterday night and it was one of the coolest experiences weve ever had. Our guides John, Sebastian and Josh were professional, funny and very knowledgeable of the area. They even gave us some insight on astrology with pointing out the different constellations that were around us along with some really bad jokes lol! They really made our experience a great one, we couldnt have asked for better guides. Thank you for making our experience an amazing one, definitely will be back one day.
We did the sunset tour. It did rain for half of our tour but we still had fun and enjoyed the adventure. Sebastian was our main guide, he did a great job leading the group and giving us information. It was hard to hear the information sometimes if you werent the first few kayaks next to him. Our other two guides were Sammy and Moe. Sammy was friendly and made conversation, making sure everyone at the back of the pack was doing well.
Tour was great, our guides were very nice, amicable and informed. We (including 2 teenagers), enjoyed the bio luminescence experience very much. I think it is worth it. Weather was on our side as it was raining all day, except when we arrived, we hear that if it rains mildly, the experience may even be better!Be prepared with mosquito repellent, it is a must! The only down -not BK tours fault- is that there are various tours and other independent travelers leaving at the same time, so there are delays awaiting for others to depart. Our tour was scheduled for 8:30 we ended up leaving around 9:00
Sammy and John were AMAZING. Omg they were so knowledgeable about everything. Next time I come back to Florida I want to book another trip. It was so beautiful
Just went tonight and it was great: Sebastian was fantastic, saw a bunch of comb jellies, and the weather was perfect. Didnt see much of the algae so it was as illuminated as the pictures but will definitely be doing this again.
MO WAS THE BEST GUIDE!!! We came from Chicago and we had a blast! I was scared as hell in the beginning hahahha but MO made me feel comfortable and towards the end everything was awesome! I’ll definitely come back again!️
Amazing experience!! Bonnie, (I think brad?) and Clayton were so great and funny and easy to listen to and Bonnie had so many cool facts about everything!! GO HERE AND DO IT
The clear kayaks were extremely awesome, as you could see straight down to the water. The bioluminescence wasn’t super bright but it was still noticeable especially as the kayaks move through the water and light up the bioluminescence. We saw an alligator too which was super creepy, our guide was extremely cool and had clearly been doing this for a long time. My boyfriend caught some jellyfish with a net that the company had. To top it all off, I was really impressed that they rescheduled my tour so quickly. I Looked up on Google maps how far of a drive it was from my hotel in Orlando and it said 45 minutes, but when I checked the day of several weeks later it was suddenly a 2 Hour drive. I started to panic because I knew there was no way I could make my tour on time, so I called them and tried to reschedule, and they rescheduled for the very same night, just a tour right after the one I was supposed to go to. Super impressed with them and would absolutely go again.
DO NOT WASTE YOU $$$ There isnt any bioluminesense!!!....only stinky water and mosquitoes. Our tour guide Ginger Snaps was so good and kind but my kayak seat was rigged and very uncomfortable for that length of time and they should not decieve you into thinking you will see what they advertise. They know full well there is way too much boat traffic for any Bio to form so they KNOW FULL WELL YOU WILL SEE NOTHING BUT A FEW BIRDS AND AN ALLIGATOR. NO BIO. Well maybe a smidgen....I mean I know they want to make $$$ but ripping ppl off isnt the way...
I booked the swim tour as a 9 year wedding anniversary date with my husband. From speaking to Sandra at booking to pulling out of our Parking spot when it was all over, this is HANDS DOWN one of the best dates we’ve ever had. “X” was our tour guide and he was nothing less than perfect. He was cool, fun and SAFE! He was very informative about the wild life. He shared great stories. You can tell he definitely enjoys being out there with us. He made my anniversary that much more special when before we hit shore, he huddled our group (8 of us) and on the count of 3 yelled congratulations on our anniversary. This is something that my husband wants to do again ...today... a day later lol thank you so much for being part of our memories! Till next time
10/10 highly recommend!!!! Absolutely amazing experience. My boyfriend and I took the 3 hour kayak tour with bioluminescence, worth every penny!!! Great for all ages and group sizes. Eli was our guide and he was fantastic, very knowledgeable and funny. We were laughing our whole tour. On the way we saw manatees, birds, dolphins, horseshoe crabs, and jumping fish (mullets)! Once it got dark, the water was bright blue and it was indescribable, you have to see it for yourself!
BAR NONE the BEST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. The tour guides John and Cameron were funny and made the group laugh continuously. The water was so bright and colored wonderfully. I have never seen anything like that in my entire life so i didnt know what to compare it to but the best way to describe it is straight from the movie Avatar. My boyfriend and i went for his birthday weekend and on August 8th this weekend we did the tour, and i highly recommended this to anyone to experience. This time of the year with the moon not being full was perfect timing.
This is an absolute must for any one who is interested in an adventure. We had Tyler and Peter as our tour guides and they were truly what made our adventure so much more fun! They were extremely informative of the how the bioluminescence functions and even pin pointed at important land marks like the NASA faculty (which is very close). Through out the journey to the island and back, they both kept us engaged, worth every penny 5/5!
Megan was our guide on the bioluminescent kayak tour and she was super cool, chill, and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed the paddle and it wasn’t a very difficult paddle at all. The Indian River is definitely a must see.
Firstly, I would like to say that the bioluminescent factor of this outing was great. The conditions were perfect and this is a perfect launching point for the makings of a magical evening for all ages. However, this company- a complete disappointment. The photos on their website are misleading. My cousin and I each booked a $75 glass bottom kayak. $150 total. Per the photos on their website this is a single kayak and when we arrived we are told we would be riding tandem- which is problematic because as a seasoned kayaker, I knew this was not my forte or comfort zone especially for a trip out in the dark. Secondly- these were canoes not kayaks. The staff on site particular a woman named Mo said this confusion happens “all the time” where those that book the tour believe they are getting a single kayak. I’m not entirely clear why a company wouldn’t make it more apparent than a tiny print section slipped in a paragraph if this is a common belief (due to their misleading photos and description showing single kayaks). A different couple complained and were put in separate canoes, they paid the same price as everyone else but, were asked first about groupings and got special treatment. When we asked how much a rental was for a tandem they answered $75 and how much for a single they also answered $76. I’m not clear how we paid $150 for a $75 rental...We were told we could not go on the tour and “try” to get a refund- which was not very encouraging because the website, though entirely vague about this tandem canoe venture was very clear about one thing- and that was no refunds. My cousin and I drove 3 hours to get to the location so at that point- we made lemonade. It was her first time kayaking so it was extremely difficult to balance together and there were no instructional strokes practices by the guides in the water for her to have time to get a feel for it before we were shoved off and told to keep up. Our boat had a small crack in it and we got Absolutely soaked on the 1 hour paddle that was advertised as an hour and a half and launched 23 minutes later than the time advertised. The guide that was to follow up the rear “Mo” often went ahead of us as we lagged behind about 30 feet from the group (as I mentioned- we had a first timer on board). There were 8 canoes in our group and the 2 guides went in kayaks, actual kayaks. The queue and exit was a complete cluster and no one was practicing social distancing and most of those attending the tour (with exception to the guides) were wearing masks while huddled. The paddles, canoes, and life vests were not sanitized before being handed off to the next launch group upon our exit. I recommend highly this location but, find another guide group, this one was a nightmare.
First, our guide Kamary was amazing! Very informative and fun. It was a great experience, we can’t wait to do it again. And hopefully get Kamary again.
The experience itself is 110% worth it, but the tour guides made it even better! Isabelle was AWESOME and has the best fun facts as well as some funny jokes. Truly a great experience with BK adventures, recommend to all. It’s nothing like you’ve ever seen before :)
We went on the bioluminescent tour as a mini break away from quarantine. Shawn was our tour guide. He did a great job in explaining why the water glows. Plus, he had great dad jokes and puns to entertain us along the tour. Photos & videos are hard to take on phone, but the experience was great. The water hitting the paddles look amazing and watching the sea life interact with algae that causes the glowing is magical.
1st time experience and was awesome .. Kate and Sean are great instructors. We toured at night, was the best
I took my SO up here for her birthday and it was amazing we did the sunset and bio tour the dolphins were so cute!! Kamary was super fun and chill
The professional, safety-conscious staff let me swim at my ease. They were on time, well-equipped, and informative. If you go on this tour you should definitely plan to swim. It is unforgettable!
Chuck and Josiah are so knowledgeable and made evening highly enjoyable! I had never kayaked before and it was one of the most fun activities I’ve ever done! I highly recommend this tour!
Didn’t see any BioluminescenceAnd told us that it’s coz of the Moonlight, If you guys know that it won’t be visible then don’t organize it while it’s full moon,Also was bitten terribly by mosquitoes and long wait hours before the startNot worth the Money instead got rashes all over my bodyYou have to give refund for situations, you should have postponed it coz u people know we are not gonna see it as ur more experienced in organizing the tours. Please don’t make people foolThank You
We had a wonderful guided tour by our new aquatic friend, Shawn. Thanks, Shawn. Keep looking up!Brian & Lisa Barlow, Dana & Logan Sechler, from Wisconsin.
My experience was awful, in fact no experience at all. Not only did me and my whole family base a trip to Florida just around doing the BK bioluminescence tour and you cancelled on us due to weather conditions which is understandable, the part that was really wrong was that once we left the tours we called to get our money back and you said “no sorry your 400 dollars is non refundable. “ I would not recommend going to BK tours unless you want your money to get taken away from you! Thanks for nothing. It’s one thing if we didn’t show up to the tours and you kept my money but we showed up and you canceled and then refused to give my money back. i am 16 years old and i saved up all summer for this tour which was on my bucket list. Cant even tell you how upsetting this is for me and my best friend.
Staff amazingly friendly and funny. Our ride was super cool. We got to see a lot and the guides (Peter and John) were so awesome and understanding. Already planning to go back again.
Not worth the money! Honestly, if you just want to kayak at night, then go for it. But other than that, wasn’t the experience I paid for. I wanted bioluminescence kayak, and what we saw on instagram(which is why I even paid for it) was nothing at all what we experienced. Look, I don’t mind kayaking, but I thought the bioluminescence that they keep promoting, would have made the night a little more romantic since My husband took me out for my birthday, and it just wasn’t that at all. Instead we went far out to sea, pushing against the current and winds that are pushing your kayak away from the guide you’re supposed to be following, because it’s honestly just a tour of the area, with fish flying everywhere and hitting us. Just wasn’t how it should have been. Not to mention our tour guide gave us maybe 5 mins of info about manatees. The rest our tour was just us paddling. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. I’d also like to add when we arrived there there was not much organization going on there was so many trucks there that you didn’t know where to sign up there wasn’t a guide telling you where to go everything was just not organized. On our tour guide someone actually got lost and they didn’t know where that person was it was just a terrible night.Never again
Please do not go with the group bk, if you want to go there’s other groups their. We drove 12 hours away to check this off the bucket list and see the bioluminescent water. When we called they said there was no refunds if we didn’t show up. That was understandable. However when we showed up on time and it was storming like crazy. We tried to wait it out as long as we could but we had to leave. We were so disappointed and couldn’t reschedule because my dad had to get too work. So we called them and they REFUSED to give refunds they said it was their “policy” but it’s not a law so they could give the money back if they wanted too. So Bk I hope you enjoy the 391 dollars we couldn’t get back that my dad work so hard to get. So please if you want to have a good trip and your money back if I gets rained out please don’t go with this group.
We enjoyed having Shawn as a guide! He was very friendly and knowledgeable.
We highly recommend the sunset/bioluminescent tour! A once in a lifetime experience. Thank you Sara, Sam and Xavier for an educationally humorous evening. The photos dont do it justice, you will not regret it!
Thanks to Alex that could tow us aroubd she’s great would definitely recommend and go again
Awesome people, great experience a most do experience here in Florida Thanks to our guide Xavier very knowledgeable guy and funny make our experience very unique and cool! Thank BK Adventure
We didnt experience anything they advertised. I get its nature and it varies. But the ad said clear bottom kayaks. None there. It was a 1 hour tour in the dark. The guide really tried to smooth it over but I didnt enjoy myself.
Just got back from our new moon tour! It was awesome! From the very start they were very attentive and easy to comunicate with. John was a great guide! Super knowledgeable had some fun facts for us. He was enjoyable to hang out with. ( hope he felt the same way)I say hang out becuse we were the only ones on the tour. Such an experience exploring the island and playing in the bioluminescents. I definitely recommend bk adventures and John!
I booked the biolum and manatee watch kayaking tour for four of us on March 16. Very pricey but I figured it would be worth it. I was so wrong.First was the manatee watch. Ya, we saw them. But what I found so interesting was the competing kayaking tour had a very interactive guide explaining the life of the manatee, the migration habits, what they eat, sleep cycles, etc. Just an incredible amount of detail. Our guys were on their phones and talking to each other. Then we came back to base, regrouped and went to seek the luminescent fish. We did a lot of paddling for nothing. A walk on an island full of dead horseshoe crabs is supposed to replace the light up fish???If you really knew there was no chance of me seeing what you advertise and, quite frankly paying a ridiculius amount of money for it, why cant you just advertise it as a dusk kayaking trip and adjust the price according??
Myself and two friends booked a tour on a whim and decided to make a camping weekend trip around a tour that we easily scheduled online at 10:15 PM for the Florida Bioluminescence Kayak Tour.Bonus: We were extremely lucky to have Tori and Sammi as our tour guides! They were absolutely fantastic and highly recommend them both! It seems like the staff really gets along well and helps to make the experience more enjoyable for guests.Double Bonus: It was unexpected but I was impressed with the COVID precautions that they had in place and hand sanitizer available while sanitizing the life jackets in between use.All in all if you are interested in the outdoors and a fun and interesting experience, you should check out BK Adventure! :)
Our group had a great time. Jon was an awesome tour guide! Highly recommend! ️ ️ ️ ️ ️
We booked our trip for Friday August 21st the 12:00am bioluminescence tour. Can I say what a terrible experience it was. First the tour started over an hour late, ok ya things happen we get that. I feel because our tour was running so late our guide RUSHED thru everything. All we did was paddle stopped at a cove for about 5 minutes tops. Our guide was so far ahead of most of us we couldnt hear a word she was saying. Our tour lasted an hour at best due to our guide paddling like a mad women to get finished. Then when we got back to our launch site the guides took off not worrying about if everyone was accounted for and if we had a good time. To say the least we didnt. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO WITH A DIFFERENT COMPANY THERES A FEW OUT THERE!!
My friends and I went as a group and the two instructors X and Tucker really made sure that we had a blast. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone! :)
We chose the midnight tour - bioluminescence on clear kayaks - the night was perfect - the stars were out - the bioluminescence was lighting up the water like a flashlight - the tour guides were wonderful-highly recommend this for date night - family night - any night - it would be great to get together with a bunch of friends and just go - recommend you schedule in advance because the tours fill up fast we were surprised that the tour was filled for the midnight slot - we were so thankful to have been part of it
Our kayaking adventure was amazing! The bioluminescence was brilliant and captivating. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and informative. I would definitely do this again!
I experienced the Bioluminescent raft tour with my family this week, and it was so magical. Our tour guide Jay was so knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this tour!
Had a great time doing the bioluminescent kayak tour. It was a very cool experience. Would definitely recommend using them.
What an awesome experience! Heather was our guide and she was extremely knowledgeable and informitive about the biology, wildlife and even astonomy of mosquito bay.
Aside from the fact that I never received a response from a message I left, my experience with BK Adventures was awful. I completely understand that the weather put our take off time an hour behind, but to come back only 30 minutes later than expected is short changing everyone. When we got into the kayak, my husband’s knees were just about touching his chin and the guy pushed us out into the water before allowing any adjustments. This obviously made our trip very uncomfortable as it put all the weight in the middle of the kayak making paddling difficult for both of us. The “guide” and everyone else was so far ahead of us that once we finally caught up, we missed everything that the tour guide talked about. At one point (during a break), a neighboring kayaker told the guide that his ankles were submerged in water. Not a promising sign when the response is that sometimes they leak and if it becomes a problem then they’ll find a sandbar to try and dump it out. To top it all off, we saw absolutely nothing (only Mother Nature can be blamed). Unfortunately, the entire experience with this company and its employees is less than desirable. It was a waste of my time, my money, and my hope for a fun new date with my husband.
We took a tour with Max and he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to answer pretty much every question, as well as give awesome facts about some of the wild life we saw. He took us to specific spots to see dolphins and manitees as well as many different birds. He was awesome, and the tour was very fun. He even gave us local tips on where to get some delicious food. Well definitely have to come back and take the bioluminescent tour!
Worst group you could possibly go with. We were left stranded.. The main guide was saying something and we had no idea.. Turned out it was a gator.. Been nice to know since we paddled right passed it.. Horrible experience as even worse guides.. We were out for 40 minutes and they came In an hour late seems like our guide was just trying to get rid of the group and go home.. I want my money back
Wonderful people. Amazing experience.
Wonderful time! Maddie and Sarah are amazing guides. Thank you so much
It was AWESOME! At first I was a little scared going out on the water at night because our eyes needed to adjust but after a few paddles out it was fine. We went out during the comb jelly season and we actually got to hold one! It lit up in our hands as we passed it around. The tour guides were very knowledgeable about the area and it’s history as well as the ecosystem around us. I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone.
Guides were amazing and i had so much fun, give rohaun a raise
We went out just after a huge thunderstorm on July 4th, 2020. It was amazing. The wildlife had been spurred up from the rains and we saw a pod of dolphins, manatees too and jumping fish among them also all kids of birds. The fire works and the view of Nasa/Kennedy Space center, perfect! Then, theres the whole 2nd part with the fireworks in our case. sunset and BIOLUMINESCENCE under a fl moon was Spectacular. Aubrey, Mo and cole were top notch tour guides. Do this. Do it with them. U will love it
We came on Sunday and booked for the clear kayak tour at 8:30 pm. I was really Looking forward to this kayaking trip although we did not see the bioluminescence as the pictures on the website describes. There was definitely a lot of paddling with no purpose- I don’t recommend the clear kayak, If you go just book the normal one. The bioluminescent was bare minimal, as we got closer to the trees you could see very little as you smackYour hand in the water or against your kayak. But all we did was a lot of paddling. Maybe if we had booked the sunset one we could have atleast seen manatees or dolphins but I willHonestly say I was quite disappointed. The photos and website were basically false advertisement. BUT a little flying fish came into my kayak so that’s one highlight. Kayaking through the dark also cool. Bioluminescent not cool.
Sam was our tour guide!!! She was the best cant recommend her enough !!!we were late because we got lost and she waited on us and was all smiles when she saw us took thru the whole place and even wanted to give us the whole hour and half because we were late!! We saw dolphins and manatees !!!
As florida native and water sport enthusiast, I am ashamed that anyone would come to florida and think this is how we act. The company made commitments they didnt honor, the tour was a lot of paddling around with no purpose, our guide was unprofessional, he purposefully evoked fear in the customers, and inaccurate in the information he was rambling. He have never left anything early... we could not leave this fast enough.
I and 3 other friends did the clear kayak bioluminescent tour in merrit island on 4/8/20. All together, our tour had 6 people, 3 kayaks. We had the awesome pleasure of being guided by Steve. He absolutely made the tour, the best experience ever . Our tour was at night and it was a full moon, calm waters, perfect weather. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Steve is extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife of the area. He loves his job and it shows. We learned tons of great information and even got to hold a conch like crab shell thingy lol. I give this a 10/10 and definitely recommend. Our group had 3 couples (:
First it was different kayaking at night. It was a perfect night our guide said and we were in between the season of both the plankton and jellyfish. That said the jellyfish are as big as your fingernail so don’t think big think tiny. They plankton sparkle like glitter every so often but not like the pictures I’ve seen. That is keeping your shutter on the camera open to get a good pic. Imagine 24 people in 12 kayaks with 3 guides all paddling wherever not in a line but bumping into each other constantly in a small area. Then you all stop and a little speech given then you move another 30 feet all bumping into each other as some cut in front of you and crashing along. All the while you are avoiding ramming into the kayaks and you are trying to see the bioluminescence. You’d think you could see them as you are all paddling or bumping into each other but basically you have to swish the water constantly to see them well enough. You really can’t tell the difference between the plankton and jellyfish. Mullets might be jumping but didn’t see any. Would I go again? Not really. The pictures are nice but what you actually see is not what the pictures show. I was going to take a group but thought to check it out first. Not taking anyone now. I don’t think the clear kayaks would be much different. One suggestion would be each guide go with 4 kayaks and do the reverse so everyone isn’t all bunched and ramming each other. You could still take out 12 kayaks.
Awesome Experience! Very cool to see and experience FL wildlife that way. Our guide Max was very personable and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend if you want to do something fun and different. Kayak launch point can be hard to find, definitely use bug spray and wear appropriate clothing!
The Bioluminescence Tour was amazing!!!We paid a little extra for the clear kayaks, but it was totally worth it! We did the 9:00PM tour. Which was a perfect time to have the best experience. Our tour guides were great! I would definitely do it again!
We took our kids for a kayaking adventure and had an awesome time! Our guide Jared was super. He fit right in with our family. The sunset was Spactular, the bioluminescent were not the best this time of year (March) but the stars and breeze was simply the best!
I had one of the most amazing experiences of my life last night. If anyone is looking for an adventure you definitely need to check it out. Luminous Bioluminescent phytoplankton glow while you kayak under a blanket of stars and celestial bodies. Its bittersweet I couldnt capture this to share with you all, but it really made me experience and take in everything in the moment. The guides were amazing and they really went out of their way to help us out.
The sunset tour was incredible. We saw manatees swimming right next to our kayaks and were even able to reach out and touch them. The sunset was breathtaking. The bioluminescence was even better than I expected. It’s truly out of this world to experience. Our guides, Angela and Vincent, were very informative and friendly. Highly recommend! We will be back.
We had a good time despite being first time kayakers. I highly recommend protecting yourself against mosquitoes and chiggers. If you want to take pictures of the bioluminescence then PRACTICE before you go because it is very difficult if you are not familiar with professional camera settings. Guides are local and very knowledgeable :) I would do it again
First, bring bug spray, wear long sleeves, and quick drying pants. Mosquitoes are out and aggressive. You’re by a body of water in FL, expect mosquitoes. Besides that, this was awesome! Seeing the fish swim, jump, and splash through the blue neon colors was beautiful. In the dark areas, the tiny fish moving almost made the water looked like it was full of fire flies. Steve, the guide was very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this company.
We had a fantastic night. The bioluminescence was great. With the clear kayaks, if you looked through the bottom it looked like you were cruising through the galaxy. We encountered many schools of mullet that light up the water when they dodged the boat as we approached. They look like shooting stars. We also saw a real shooting star just as we returned to the ramp. A perfect evening. Rachel was a great tour guide.
We had a a fantastic time! Sebastian was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable of the history around the area. He made the experience 100 times cooler with all of his fun facts. Matt also did a great job of wrangling us in when we got off the beaten path.
We had a great experience in night kayaking. It was our first kayaking and our guide Rachel and Nigel were awesome guides. Especially Nigel was guiding us a lot he was making sure that we are doing ok. Thank you for the awesome experience.
Rachel was amazing! We had a blast even with a little drizzle. We saw manatees up close, dolphins playing & birds that I have never seen before. The tour was peaceful, serene, mysterious and beautiful. We loved listening to Rachels stories and unpredicting happenings in the wild. Everyone was so upbeat and positive, a great way to run a business. It surely made an impact on us. Thanks again for a memorable day.
My girlfriends and I thoroughly enjoyed our bioluminescence raft tour. The water glowed and sparkled with each dip of our oars. The raft was comfortable and the paddling was easy. The best part were the finger mullets looking like little shooting comets. Our tour guides Dylan and Wyatt were the best! I highly recommend this trip.
Thank you to our two wonderful guides for a relaxing and fun and informative kayak experience!I’m the guest who was accidentally locked out of her vehicle at Haulover Canal- AFTER DARK! Our two guides were calm and patient and helpful in trying to find a locksmith for us!! Thank you! Thank you!
I took my niece on the Bioluminescence tour, and it was truly a bucket-list evening. The waters are freakishly warm and very shallow, so any level of experience will be fine. The glowing schools of fish are something you have to see to believe (and I mean you HAVE to see it, good luck capturing it with a camera ;-)
Had an AMAZING BEST EXPERIENCE out on the clear kayaks tonight with Nigel, Rachel, and Vincent guiding our tour. Can not wait to book again! A manatee put on a full blown show and mullet fish danced through the water all around us. Will be back at the new moon. The bioluminescence was mind blowing!!! Thank you BK Adventure.
Had 5 star experience with our kayak guide Angela. We didnt have any trouble finding the launch site, we just followed the GPS right to it! If you arrive early to the area during daylight hours, you can see manatees at the viewing station (follow the signs).
We took the clear kayak bio tour this week. The experience left a lot to be desired. On a regular kayak, this would have been a peaceful experience. These boats were like managing a bathtub! In the shallow water, it was difficult to navigate and we had very little instruction. Thankfully no one tipped and the kind guide towed our last boat in, as it was very difficult to steer. We were thankful for the clear night and the beautiful starry sky. If you join this tour, go with the regular kayaks!
Excellent tour! Definitely recommend!
Felt so amazing seeing the water light up! Would recommend to anyone- the bug spray and long clothing is no joke though! It is literally called mosquito lagoon. The tour guides were fun and the experience was unforgettable!!!
It was a very fun experience! We saw tons of manatees and a few dolphins and more. The area was beautiful! The best part was our guide was just as excited to see everything as we were! Tony was super knowledgeable and fun and made sure we got back to the mainland (since we Ubered in) and even gave us a lunch suggestion.
We had a amazing time! we had 3 first time paddlers in our group and Audrey handled the challenge like a champ! We had a local fisherman (before the paddle began) come up to us to have WORDS with Audrey about the boat ramp. Audrey handled his attitude in a very professional manner.Thank you guys ! AND give that girl a raise!
The whole group got there on time so our tour guide got to start the information about the tour (safety and all that). She was very informative. She helped us get into our kayak and eventually out, also nice. Once we got into the water though it was kind of a stressful trip. My husband and I do ok at kayaking but we couldn’t quite keep up with the tour guide and I think other groups felt that way too. As soon as we caught up, she’d start paddling again. When she was waiting on a group to catch up she would inform the group on some things about nature but you could barely hear and there wasn’t really a time all three groups were up there because someone was always trying to catch up. Lastly, the bioluminescence in the picture online is nothing like going out there. I was thinking you could see it prominently and all over of the place but it was very faint light and you had to know where to look. I would not have paid the money I did if I would’ve known what I know now. Maybe the trip will be different for someone else. Good luck!
We took a 2 week vacation in Florida with our 2 kids (19 and 21). We only took a few pre-booked excursions and we are so glad that the Sunset and Bioluminescence Tour with BK Adventures was one of them! Our guide, Nigel, was great - he had lots of information about the area and wildlife and was very accommodating. We were extremely lucky that we were the only ones booked on the Sunset portion of the tour (there were 10 more guests joining us for the Bioluminescence portion after dark). We were happy to have a single dolphin following us down the estuary, but when I told Nigel that Id be over the moon to be able to see manatees (as I assumed wed be out of luck, since we werent visiting in the winter when they are the most plentiful), and he responded with OK then, lets go....I wasnt sure what to expect. What we found were a group of about 4 playful manatees that gave us a wonderful show! They were curious and came right up next to our kayaks - I was so looking forward to seeing these gentle giants, and my kids got an even better view of them. It was an experience that we wont forget! After a 1/2 hour break back on shore, where the rest of the group joined us, (and we had to watch out for a hungry raccoon, who we were warned would hop into your car looking for a handout, given an opportunity), we headed out again after dark for the Bioluminescence part of the tour. The glowing dinoflagellates were spectacular - kayak paddles left blue trails, handfuls of water sparkled in your palm, and fish shooting by underwater were like streaks of lightning. It was an amazing experience!Back on shore, we met a mama wild boar and her piglet RIGHT behind our car in the parking area - there is a lot of wildlife in this area (it IS a wildlife refuge, after all), so keep your eyes open...The tour (really, 2 tours combined) was well worth the price! Tip your guide - they deserve it!
I cannot RAVE enough about how awesome this company is and the adventure they took my fiancee and I on! We did the sunset tour and we had such a special experience that will be cherished FOREVER! We kayaked right up to wild dolphins, we floated right into the sunset, the comb jelly were gorgeous, and to top it off we were right under the Milky Way (I EVEN SAW A SHOOTING STAR)! The tour guide, Tony, definitely made this trip EPIC! I recommend this company to anyone looking for a kayaking trip that you will cherish for a lifetime!
Definitely an experience.I must say this was a beautifulBioluminescence Tour.We did have trouble kayaking, especially in the dark but their tour guide Matt was amazing and made sure we didnt stay behind.I would recommend this but Id also recommend to bring that change of clothes too. lolIt was fun.
My friends and I had an amazing time our guide Jared was awesome a perfect calm night saw alot of tenophors
I went to the bioluminescence in August late at night. It was very interesting. The bioluminescence is a white glow that the water has when it is disturbed by the kayak paddles or your hand. This experience is appropriate for most ages. Just be sure to bring bug spray and/or wear long sleeves and pants.
Not recommended for anyone who has kayaking experience. We chose BK and paid more for their trip because they supposedly had smaller groups, but this was not the case at all. The group was way too large and they constantly made us count off to manage the large group. We had to paddle into small coves and get eaten up by the bugs rather than keep paddling in the open to truly experience the bioluminescence. The guide was too talkative. Sad to say, but this was not the experience we were expecting.
Was a excellent time doing the Dolphin and Manatee tour. Guides we had were amazing and really knew their stuff. Got to interact with many manatees and dolphins. Would highly recommend
This was one of the best experience ever! Me & some friends did the bioluminescent rafting and it was magical! Bailey was our tour guide and he was amazing! The bioluminescence was breathtaking, magical, and looked like I was in a real-life Pandora. It was also raining, which made the experience 10x better! We saw fish, dolphins, manatees. I will definitely return.
Ashley & Steve were great tour guides! We did start a little late, waiting on others, however, they made up the time at the end. They made sure everyone was together and safe. I, personally, enjoyed the sky, stars and bright moon while kayaking at night in the middle of the river. It was amazing!
Fantastic tour. We went on the 9pm bioluminescence tour. It was a rare opportunity and Max did a great job leading our group. Definitely worth staying up late.
We drove through rain/storms and sat traffic to get here. By the time we got here we were so over It 4.5 hours of driving and when we got to the area there is pretty much nothing to do but wait and be eaten by mosquitoes. Bring bug spray. lol But once we hit the water who cares about the drive? It was AMAZING. I loved every minute. Dillion and the other gentleman that lead the group were entertaining and just fun. they did an amazing job. Then you had the entire water lighting up. We were lucky enough to see a lot of fish scouting across the water. Larger fish below where it left light glowing in large blobs. Fish were jumping so much many people had fish jump in the kayaks. It was so much fun listening to the children so happy and it was just amazing. The stars were incredible. Everything was amazing. We will be back to do the clear boats. In the end my long hair managed to get wrapped around the life jacket and the flashing light that was attached. The guy took so much care not to pull my hair and unwrapped every strain gently. Thank you so much! Worth every penny and the drive.
