Very beautiful; paved & unpaved trails, with plenty of water access to a pond & a creek. Very nice scenery with picnic tables for a nice family setting. Great place to take your dog for a wonderful walk & a cool dip in the creek!!! Nice walking bridge & this area usually has a nice breeze blowing. Took our cheagle dog (Shadow) out there & he had an awesome time; got a lot of exercise. We frequently visit this beautiful, peaceful, & serene park. One of the nicest parks in Springfield, MO to visit.
Very rustic and natural park. Awesome nature trails, but are not designed for regular or jogging strollers as there are stairs and steep paths. There are paved pathways for strollers but they only go around about half of the lake. The shade trees and views are absolutely lovely. This park is a great spot to observe the natural wildlife that Missouri has to offer.
Conditions vary depending on recent rainfall. After wet weather the sinkhole spring can run pretty quickly, flushing algae from the creek and lake. The looping trail is not stroller or wheelchair friendly, but covers forested, wetland and glade biomes in a relatively short distance. Great for teaching children the differences between biomes.
First time out walking a trail in a while. First time with my son. Its an easy fun walk. I did it in flip flops.
This park is amazing! Took my cat on a walk here and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was okay. I enjoyed the fact that most everything was kept more natural than something like Nathaniel Greene, but it made things less stroller friendly, so we didnt get to see much of the park. The waterfall and bridge were pretty cool, and there are a few gyms and stops for Pokemon go players.
Absolutely beautiful! A great place to walk, and fish.
Great place for walking, hiking and angling. Good largemouth bass fishery.
We stumbled on it when we drove by seeing the dam and found the beautiful lake. Its really nice and have nice trail and spring. Ppl r having fun in the lake. Its a nice place to relax and getting good education from the center
Such a nice little park of the edge of town! If you’re looking for a quite place to take a jog or stroll this is it! I believe fishing is allowed here as well and it makes me want to get my permit again Beautiful place!!
Our family lives not too far from here and its been a great place for us to hike around the lake and enjoy the beautiful scenery and nature. The trail goes around the entire lake and we can usually hike it in an hour or so depending on how many times we stop and look at stuff. The trail is paved on the side of the lake by the parking lot but it is much more rugged on the other side of the lake. In warm months we like to wear shoes that can get wet because there are a few good places along the trail to stop and wade in the water. If its during the rainy season, plan on getting your feet wet and muddy on the hike.
I liked the trails there. I do not know if I would fish there though. There are other places that the water is cleaner you can fish at.
My favorite park in Springfield! Has a huge trail leading around the whole park of varying difficulties. Some of it directly by the lake is paved, but majority of the trails are maintained, but not paved. So many gorgeous little spots throughout the park.
Good place to take a walk but you have to worry about someone breaking into your vehicle, guess thats everywhere nowadays, its a shame thiefs can find anything but a job.
What a great little hidden gem right here in the city! Had no idea it was even there but definitely worth the time. Parking will be a little iffy come summertime but willing to walk a bit to get back there. I bet the fishing is good too (before you ask, i dont know if they stock it). Go. See the ducks and geese and other critters!
Read the walking trails and walking across the bridge and looking over the lake had an awesome time had family from out of town that thought there was very beautiful there a good place to visit and enjoy watching some wildlife we got to see some water turtles and see fish swimming in the water I would recommend going there for a family outing go for a picnic
I thought it was all right. However, I did see some shenanigans but youre never going to be totally isolated from knuckleheads.
Very similar with Sequiota Park. Higher difficulty than Nathaniel Greene Park, same difficulty as Springfield Nature Center. Not as crowded as the ones mentioned above. The two piers were occupied by anglers. There are other observation decks along the trail. The green trail can be easily missed.
Its a little close to the highway so you cant excape the sound of semi trucks so well but it is a very nice place to go.
Nice park, nice trails, a hidden gem! Check it out!
This place is BEAUTIFUL! They close at sunset but I love just walking down the docks and watching the water. They have trash cans too so go pick up some food and have a picnic but please pick up after yourself. A beautiful place yo fish as well, BUT dont forget you have to be licensed to fish.
Great place for hiking with dogs. However, wear long pants if you’re sensitive to poison ivy! It was everywhere! Luckily neither my son nor I got a rash, but instead of enjoying the hike we were mostly scouting where we placed our feet in dense areas of the trail...
It is a great place for walking trails and fishing. Its a dog friendly atmosphere, dogs are always welcomed.
It was nice...a little mossy but two fishing piers. Nice!
Great park, the signs were very informative.
If you are looking for a place to take a nice walk on a sunny afternoon while learning about the natural habitats near Springfield, this is the place. The mile long nature trail takes you through several micro habitats, and well designed interpretive signage helps you to appreciate what you are seeing. Part of the trail is paved and wheelchair accessible, and part is an unpaved path through woods, wetlands, and fields. An easy walk with some minor ups and downs to get the blood flowing. The staff are friendly and eager to help.
I like fishing here but the growth in the water right now is making it hard to fish. They need to drag the water!
Great hiking trail for families!
This is my favorite place to go walking. Peaceful and beautiful. The trails are dirt and gravel. Also, nice are to go fishing.
This is one of my favorite places to run and hike. Real Ozarks complete with a spring, a glade, and wetlands. Its connected to the Ozark Greenway trail too!
This place is absolutely beautiful and free. Im not the biggest outdoors person, but I went with my son on a school field trip here. He was able to fish, get in the water to learn about living creatures, and he was able to walk on a trail. This was a super neat experience.
Fun trails and pretty sights.
Great place to take a nature walk and hike.
Lots of trails. Lots to learn. Fishing. Restrooms.
Very beautiful walk, and very educational.
Full of algae, but interesting area, nice paved paths the bridge and waterfall was really cool
Its pretty nice walk, its a long way around the lake, But I enjoy the walk. I one day want to fish it. But the lake has a lot of algae in it but you can see the big bass and Stuff swimming around. But I havent been able to get out there with a fishing pole in my hands yet.i definitely recommend the walk around the lake though. Enjoy
Love this place. Peaceful and calm. Great trail.
Beautiful, relaxing, fishing, hiking, and all the history marks
Beautiful location, great place. Do watch out for the fae though; theyre everywhere. Very fun.
Great walking trails that go from dirt to pavement. Also good for fishing. Quiet and peaceful never too packed with people.
Mixed trail coverage (stone, dirt, gravel etc), bathrooms at the Watershed Center, great examples of Ozark native flora.
Nice short walking trail alongside a pretty little lake.
Nice trails and posted information makes it educational.
Great place for a hike thats not too far from Springfield! Only negative is half the time, you cant walk more than 30 feet without coming across a spider web across the path. But hey, nature!
Its nice the trails r nice to enjoy and so is the fishing
Love the Watershed. Beautiful trails to walk.
Very nice trail especially to walk your dog on. Mostly very friendly people and a really pretty place for kids who havent had much chance to really see the outdoors
Went fishing. Water is really clear with plenty of top clutter!
This was a sweet gem of Springfield I found. Beautiful trail, a bit challenging a few up hills, different terrians. Beautiful scenery, the trails are maintained, but not all paved. I did get some bites, so wear bug spray. This place was busy at 7 pm! You can fish there and there is a small waterfall where some kids were swimming! Loved this place!!
Very nice well kept walking trails
Really nice clean park, awesome walking trails
The person that showed us around and explained things did an awesome job. He took us on a long walk, a lot of beautiful things to see. A lot to learn.
I have always loved coming to this park to go on my walks. Its not nearly as popular as some of the other parks in Springfield, but I enjoy the walk significantly more. You can also bring a fishing pole as the park has three separate little docks for your party to fish off of.
Very nice Nature Park and walkways. Beautiful pond with many birds, but fishing isn’t the greatest. Caught small Bluegill only. Fun day overall though. It’s worth the visit. Free entrance. No fishing fees either.
Nice walking trail along lake edge with a couple of piers going out to a gazebo.
Beautiful relaxing and secluded place to just enjoy nature.
Amazing place. Beautiful scenery. Trails were easily marked.
Great Park. Great place to fish or to just walk around. Just dont bring a stroller as some of the walking paths are gravel and also there is Bridges with stairs
Nice place close to town. Nicely kept trails and lots of birds and other wildlife
This place has some amazing short trails with spectacular views. There are tons of spots where you can just sit and relax, or take photos, write, read, draw, or whatever it is that you like to do.
It is a nice place to walk or fish. The trail is wooded for about half of the walk and it is relaxing to feel like you are away from everything for at least a little bit. They also have pretty flowers in bloom at the moment.
It was good to get away and get some alone time. Perfect place to heal
Nice pretty area by the water.
Nice park with nice facilities.
This is a great place to walk or fish. The natural spring is beautiful. I spent two hours just walking and enjoying nature. If there is a downfall it would be that it is only open from sun up to sunset. I plan on visiting more in the future.
Valley Water Mill Park has some great hiking trails and fishing piers. Highly recommend for a family outing, bird watching, and reflection time.
Close to town but very much back to nature. Kids enjoyed the water, lots of turtles and would have loved to go fishing but didnt bring any poles.
I took my 7 year old there to fish. That was absolutely impossible! There was so much green slime in the water! We will be finding a new fishing spot
Great place to hike
Wish there wasnt duckweed on the lake but otherwise great little hiking loop.
This place is awsome
Great place to hike!
It is a very beautiful place to go for a peaceful walk we even sat down in the octagon and had lunch
Beautiful views lovely trails.
Beautiful nature park. Great to take the grandchildren for strolls. Be sure to take insect repellent or prespray yourself at car before venturing out. The staff is very courteous. Restrooms available. I try to visit at least four-five times a year because it changes wonderfully with each season.Would be difficult for a wheelchair to travel about on most pathways though.
This place is really beautiful. Love the trails and views. Lots of wild life and you feel at peace here.
It would be picturesque if not for the hoards of trash left in the water by fisherman. Otherwise, the trail is well taken care of.
Great trail with a few little stops along the way. Dog friendly.
Its nice to go there and said our fish are you can walk around this is a nice place now they fixed it up really nice
Beautiful place to take a stroll love the natural terrain walking path
Clean, quiet, great trails an fishing spots!
Fish are under stocked for the level of fisherman/ woman...but the scenery is great with a good walking trail and a bridge overlooking the watter.
Its very peaceful
Short paved and mulch trail very easy for all ages. There is education signs and a restroom here.
I love this park.......Its my secret never took anyone here yet......Demitra will be first.
It’s a neat little place to take kids. They love walking back to the creek and catching little frogs
This is a good walking place the terrain is not difficult for kids. We go there with all of our kids and grandkids they are able to get through real good. There are a couple of little places the kids can walk in shallow water
The scenery and the animals
Great place to hike if you like a little up-and-down on a trail. Lots of wildlife and the area has a lot of character.
Awesome family place
Great quiet place
Wonderful place to walk, enjoy nature, fish, and picnic. Good place to spend time with the family fishing or taking a stroll arou d the lake.
