We love St. Bernadette’s parish and school! We’re starting our second year at St. Bernadette’s and have had great experiences thus far. Fr. Don is wonderful spiritual leader and parish director and Mrs. Dalmut is a fantastic principle! Our kids are happy in the school and our whole family has grown so much in this faith filled community. Both the parish and the school put on great events throughout the year that enrich our family life. I highly recommend St. Bernadette’s Parish and School!

Just attended an ecumenical prayer service, celebrating the week of Christian unity. It was a beautiful service and the pastor Fr Rooney gave a moving homily

Father Don Rooney denied my mom and sisters a blessing. Like who does that? All the negative reviews of him are so true. Talking to him I realized that he takes being a priest as a job and not a vocation. Oh but he’ll keep asking for your financial support. Cause that’s part of your job description. And DEFINITELY racist. Don’t believe me ? ASK HIM FOR A BLESSING. Good luck BAHAHAHAH

Why mix the Catholic Church and politics? why cant you just go there to fulfill your responsibility? because you know that church/mass is not an option right? why criticize? go to church and feel the love and the closeness of our Lord; dont you just go there to see whats good for you or not. Or how people treat you there, or how they look at you. Nobody here is going to try to make you come here every Sunday because THAT HAS TO COME FROM YOU! you know if you are a good person and follow Jesus teaching you will save yourself right? or you think someone else will do it for you?

For some reason the priests get up and read their homilies. Get out in the aisle and speak from the heart. This is old school thinking at this church. I now go to Nativity Church.. Father Martin is very inspiring and compassionate.

If you want a Vatican II pastor look to Queen of Peace in Arlington. This pastor at St. Bs is into pre Vatican II model of church. Father believes in making all the decisions himself. Vatican II mandated the empowerment of the laity and parish councils. How is it that Stewardship is a one way street? Pray, Pay and Obey is the order of the day! The parish pulls in $45,000 a week and yet WE THE PEOPLE of the parish are banned from having any input into decisions about how it will be spent. This is clericalism ... Father knows best...and to heck with all of us!!! Holy Spirit in Annandale may open up. Think about it Fr. Kevin.

Wow most of the comments about the St. Bernadette is about a year ago and during the election campaign and the implementation of Obamacare mandate... To rate St. Bernadette on that is a bit unfair. During the time the Catholic Church had to defend its beliefs from the impending unfair immoral law. Also everybody in the Springfield area loves Father Martin, who occasionally performs the sacraments in St. Bernadette. We all fall into the hole of looking for the right Priest. I remember when Fr. Trung was at St. Bernadette, I could not understand a word he was saying, gospel nor homily. We have to just remind ourselves that we are there for he Lords word.. Also there is a reason why we hear certain messages during the homily. Its Gods way of speaking to us. Sometimes we just have to stop complaining and just listen.Overall the Church is well maintained and clean. They have 4 Sunday masses and a Saturday one. My only complaint, just like any other in the area, is the traffic. The turn and volume of cars in that area makes it a congested area.Like all places of gathering and there will always be someone who complains... We just have to remember why we gather... God Bless!

I have been a faithful Roman Catholic parishioner for years but after Sunday evenings mass with Father Kevin Larson I am out of there. Every time he preaches on Sunday he has focused on sex, sex, sex, and more sex. I am tired of hearing all his homilies focus on bedroom issues: abortion, the need for women to cease and desist all birth control, the horrors of masturbation by men, women, and teens, the horrors of pre marital sex, and divorced people who happen to meet another signicant other to carry on their life. There is something wrong when a celibate male priest talks about these issues to the exclusion of all other important issues affecting our families and nation. He is not a pastor in my book. People are out of work, there is uncertainty among peoples, economic struggles, health issues, teens are struggling to understand God as all teens do, there are people dying in our parish or facing terminal illness and yet Kevin Larson talks sex every single time he preaches. I have heard him for 3 months in a row and that is all I hear from his lips. I talked to anther Arlington Diocesean priest and he suggested I leave his parish and find spiritual support at Nativity Parish in Burke or Our Lady Queen of Peace in Arlington. I will do that and I will tell the pastor when I go to the next parish why I am leaving St. Bernadettes to come to his.I hope the Personnel Director at the Chancery reads this or someone in the Chancery. Father Kevin is either burned out or lost in EWTN pre Vatican II theology that has been condemned by a number of CAtholic bishops.
