Edwards House. This was one of my favorite places we visited when we went to Springfield. It felt like we were travelling back in time. The guide was amazing and explained details that we would not have noticed in the house, because our current reality is so different.
Art fair was well represented with alot of different art mediums. Great area for displays. Alot of shade.
1st experience here -- my 11 year old is taking a drawing class, and really likes it!
Nice place to learn new craft
We just had our wedding ceremony at Edwards Place and they were fantastic to work with. Very flexible with requests and prompt in responses to emails and calls. The venue presents a stunning setting with the rich colors and antiques. Our guests were wowed by it. I highly recommend working with them!
Had a great time! Thanks Poppy
This place is a fun combination of local artists, and local history. One side was the Springfield Art Association, and they had a gallery setup with pictures and sculptures from local artists. Walk through the next door and you are in the historic Edwards family home. They actually have the courting couch that Mary and Abe sat on together. There are certain pieces that have been completely restored, others from the time period, some the actually belong to members of the Edwards family, and then you have the fun game of the wallpaper. Pieces of the original that are still there, right next to the accurately recreated brand new wallpaper. Its fun and shows just how much time they have taken to restore this home.
The Springfield Art Association is a gem of Springfield and the pride of Enos Park Neighborhood. As a resident and community developer, I am eager to share the friendly and collaborative nature of all of their staff. It is a pleasure to work with them on community programming, attend classes and volunteer. My children have participated in art camp, both in teaching and attending. I strongly encourage those of all ages to join the fun and create some space in your life for art.
Wonderful. Very imformative and enthusiastic guide. I really loved tgis tour and would highly recommend to anyone interested in historical places.
Good event space and very accommodating. Great place to see local artists!
Informational tour guides provide you with the history of the Edwards family of Springfield. A good way to kick off your Lincoln tours if your curious about the era in which Lincoln was surrounded by.
I love the Metals class/jewelry classes taught by Meghan. Ive taken two classes with her and really enjoyed them both.
Attended a Sangamon County Historical Society joint meeting with the Arts Council at Edwards Place about a portrait of John W. Bunn by Cecelia Beau, a famous portrait artist.
The Springfield Art Association is here. They have classes, exhibits, and public events. It is a fantastic way to be introduced to local artists and new art forms.
I took a jewelry class there and learned a lot. I was a complete beginner and now I am making my own jewelry. I plan in taking the intermediate class at some point.
A great community art center. I especially enjoy their art classes.
Fabulous event highly recommended
