Simply a great place to walk around or chill out near bathrooms, drinking water fountains, and playground equipment. Theres even a place where those wishing to serve meals to the less fortunate can gather for a perfectly acceptable breakfast or lunch group.Of course, the area can be used by families or even just individuals wanting to sit down and enjoy the park while their children play. The playground equipment is generally well-maintained and isnt dangerous past normally acceptable levels. Those wanting to go to play Pokémon Go will find a Gym and at least a few Pokéstops nearby within reach of this park, which spans (conservative guess) at least more than 4 square blocks or so.
This is a good location for a park. The tress look beautiful. Theres ample outdoor seating for large groups. When I went in the middle of the day there were multiple groups of homeless at the park. Im updating to say I felt rather uneasy here and should have given it the one star originally. After the police report a couple days ago Id say trust your gut more.
Have had lots of good times there very pretty in the summertime expecialy in the morning
Great place to practice awareness and self-defense skills.
Its a nice little park with swings and some basic older equipment and tons of room to run.It can have trash scattered around. It does have quite a few unhoused people, but as one would expect, theyre kind park mates. Its the random folks that come through to creep on people or yell on their phones or do drug deals that make it a place to go in a group. Nothing crazy, just wouldnt recommend it alone. We still go.
I love GBP, Although it might be a while before thats open again depending on the whole COVID-19 & everything thats going on with that. Other than that youre gonna love it here. This place is great & so awesome they have everything. ️
Brings back childhood memories of swimming in the pool ( its closed due to Covid-19
There was a murder by the pavilion, I wouldnt necessarily say the place is kid friendly....
Beautiful park and in the spring all through summer they have a large swimming pool with 3 slides, picnic areas and a pavilion with a historic railroad museum next door
Not the best area I feel, due to some adults arguing publicly w verbal language, for the 3rd time now. Overall my kids had fun, parks are parks!
Was nice and clean. Families were out with the children and ask were having fun. Nice place to enjoy your self
Good park. Just wish the pool was open.
An ok place to eat your lunch before having to go back to work
Me and my wifes favorite park here in springfield we take our neices and nephews here to playthe pictures are of my niece running me over on her friend the stegosaurus
Honestly there seems to be a large quantity of questionable people there and I chose to leave after 2o mins due to the safety of my children
Swimming pool is large and modern. You need to keep a close eye on your belongings or they might get stolen. The lifeguards are highschool kids not security. Leave valuables in your car or in eyesight. The Frisco Railroad museum is a must. Open on Saturdays by appointment. Educational and historic... Top notch. The park itself is well manicured and comfortable. Very nice park.
Just a cool historic place.
Love the Pool! Nice people, barely any hood rats, family respectable place. Playground nice too but dont go there alone, always with another family, just in case.
I love grant beach. Its a great place to look for Pokemon. The park has non dangerous play ground
The Isle of Grant beach park is a great place out I love it so much I live in it
The railroad museum is open 2-4 pm and is fascinating. Tour the train for free! Also the public pool is here and a good one to visit. Pavilion and other park amenities make this one of our great Springfield parks.
I was at the park with South Street Christian Church. On Sunday mornings we bring hot food to anybody that needs to eat. Wonderful experience.
If you like the homeless and the shady types with a sense of possible danger. With a surprising number of hot white trash looking chicks taking mixed race children to the pool (not that there is anything wrong with that)In fact, their usually never married and dont have a man, just the kids which are happy to be at the park.Im just funning cause its all fun at the park, with a pool, and the cool train -take the tour of the old steam trains - its cool, dont be scared of the locals, they are cool if your cool - good times PEACE
It was great... U can buy all the drugs you want right there in the park.... Good quality at a great price...Plenty of dirt legs there too also st a great price...If your looking to get high and laid its the place to go... Be careful though... The find about one dead person a week in that park..... Usually from heroin overdose..So dont do heroin and youll be ok
I have enjoyed the times that I have spent at Grant Beach Park..The landscaping is great very well managed and plenty of space.as well as the park has a full sized open frame train that is available to the public occasionally and that can be entered. It is something that my children enjoy doing there
Great park,Great pool!!!! Just mind your business an enjoy the Pool/Park an dont concern yourself with what others are doing an youll have a great time..... We love the Beach
Was really fun and my little one loved the change of pace
We love this park and go here often with the kids. I took off a star because its very hot in the summer with very little shade on the playground equipment. The slides get very hot. The rest of the park is fairly shaded though. The playground could use some updates, but dont get ride of the weird disk climbing thing pictured here. Its my kids favorite
We met with Springfield motorcycle riders and Kearney St car group for a ride for an autistic young man to show our support for him.
Perfect day kids lovven dady time
Not the best park but it gives the kids something to do for a few.
Its got the boys & girls club there for the kids. Plus a Train museum for free to see.
Had a wonderful time at the pavilion for our first family reunion in 11 years, trash cans and electricity were available and convenient, overall a great day.
Had reserved the pavilion for a church picnic. Was full of homeless people when we arrived and started cooking. Most of them left before we eat, but fed those that came back or stayed around. Had no problem with anything.
Staff is friendly and amazing, the patrons could remember that they are using public resources and act a little more accordingly but hey everyone is having fun and thats what matters
Lots of great memories as a kid here. Wish the city would fund some improvements for it. I hate to see it being lost to thugs and gang members.
Great place beautiful
Always a fun time, love the slides!
Fun spot for the family any day. The railroads museum was more fun than I thought it would be!
Never even stopped here. Cmon man its Springfield Mo. Only way I even go to this highly overrated city is if I have a service call there. Cant stand it
It is just a cool place to be
Too much hood for me. Do not feel safe when I have to look at a swat team posted up harassing children in full uniform and making everyone feel uncomfortable. Not the atmosphere to have a day intended for fun
I worked here for years. I know it doesnt look like the best place but the people are great and the pool is the best in Springfield with so many options and a separate place for the little kids.
Beautiful simple and clean. The pool area is amazing as long as there isnt too many people.
Great big park and the swimming pool is good for little ones for sure.
Great swimming but not so clean park
Nice park with a pool, baseball field, and a train engine you can visit.
Nigerians in America Organization adopted a 0.5 mile road around this park. Its a nice place, but neighbors of this area need to adopt better attitude to littering .
So cheap to get in ($3) for adults and the slides are so much fun! They also have great tiny water park for the babes. Definitely come here for a fun time with family and friends
Awsome little park in Springfield. Many memories made there growing up. Still have some of the playground equipment I played on as a kid! Nice place to take the family and enjoy the great outdoors.
I’ve been going to this park since I’ve been a kid and my children always have soccer games there. I think parking needs to be addressed because the likelihood that you find a parking spot less than a block away are slim to non on active weekends!
Since closing the homeless shelter Grant Beach Park pavilion has become the go to hangout for the homeless. Besides finding used needles and condoms laying around you also dodge the city workers flying around the walk paths in their trucks. Honestly take your kids to any other park in town unless you hate them.
Thank you FREEDOM CITY CHURCH..FESTIVAL of Hope was a BLAST..THANK YOU.JESUS..
Grant Beach Park was the first park that I was introduced to in 1972. Thats when we moved to Springfield Missouri. Friends ofours bought our first city bus ride to get there, from Park Central Square.
Very nice place.
Take my kids here to play pretty often
Great place to get your pockets emptied and free toe tags after dark.
Its clean and never been too crowded. Lota for kids to do. Very nice park.
My kids love it here ad its close to my house
Went to the train museum...so intresting!
Quiet a place to take the grandkids
Peaceful, cool last night at grants beach. Good times.
The park has some nice features, imcludimg tje railroad museum amd swimmimg pool, but overall its rundown and unkempt. It also has a high volume of foot traffic. Its so nice to see people being out and about, but the park does not keep up well with its popularity.
Good to let the kids run out of energy
Clean, huge, great snack bar!
Ansolutely terrible place to have your kids swim or adults for that matter, life guards dont moniter at all, 6 to 7 kids bullied my two boys tried to drown one and hit him Life guards did nothing, I tried to make them do something and a 15 year old from the group of bullies assaulted me punching me in the face, Life guards stood around and laughed. Terrible terrible terrible authority no safety at all dont ever go there.
I have just been going there to see my grandson play soccer. I used to go to the park years ago but havent been recently until now for the games.
I love the energy here I am just wondering why they took out the pull up bars on the playground? Who does that?
Great family swimming area. It is a very open field park. Large shelter house, but poor public restrooms. Be mindful of a large homeless population.
The pool area is great and the lifeguards are caring and kind. The bathroom definitely needs work. Were excited to see how they did up the park.
Have to be careful on what times and days you go can find most of the homeless and drug users here. I personally only go there when there are events at the park. There is a swimming pool there.
Needs to be cleaned up and maintained better.
I love the pool and Park. Teenagers need more supervision. That is my only concern.
Cool place to take Grand lils.
Theres a swimming pool and a train real nice picnic area
Park was mostly clean. However, grass was uncomfortably high to walk through with 4 yr old granddaughter.
This is a very rough neighborhood. I applaud the people of the community that are bringing in so much positive actions to this area. You can see and feel the impact they are making.
Nice park popular place there..
Center city wild west, I do not recommend!
My husband and I have spent many days at Grant Beach. Its close to home for us and will always be special to us!
The water was just right
We love to take our kids there
Nice Park. Has playground for the kids, baseball fields, and a locomotive with several rail cars available for tours.
Love the park just wish they would enforce all laws and have pda or security on site 24 hrs a day
Its a relatively nice park but its somewhat hindered by the neighborhood its in. You definitely do not want to be there in the later hours when it starts getting dark
My boys love going there
Nice little family park
Super fun for kids, not very busy
This park has good playground equipment for kids, picnic tables, built in stone grills, a train museum open on Saturdays in summer and early fall, a large pool and water area and a pavilion that can be reserved. Overall, everything is in good condition, sometimes the park can be very busy and sometimes there is a lot of trash laying around and sometimes people you dont want to have your kids around will wonder through.
Very clean, well lit but could use updates
So many homeless...
Comfortable area to have a picnic with the family & friends.
Nice place to hang out
Great pool. Needs lockers
My peaceful place.
We love the slides!! Plenty of room, decent concession stand. It would be better though, if some of the life guards would allow a parent to accompany smaller toddlers on the smaller water slide.
Great park! Need more. police visibility especially dark times!Still miss the old swim pool! Why did they make it do small!!
Nice park but lots of homeless people hanging out. Litter is an issue sometimes; wear shoes lol
