Good productions. Interaction with players. Affordable and family friendly
I love the Hoogland! Its nostalgic for me have done a lot of my poetry shows here its like stepping into NYC for a few hours.
Excellent atmosphere, very nice theater, and the play production was very good, those young children went all out to learn their parts. We really enjoyed the show and will be back again
As a first timer, I was happily surprised. The facility is clean, easy to find, and I love that the parking garage is right next door (cost $2 and they accepted cash & card). I was able to purchase tickets at the window just before the show. The drink policy was a shocking and pleasant surprise. Yes I will pay $2 for your plastic cup so I can take a drink (water, soda, wine, &/or liquor) inside the theater! There didnt seem to be a dress code, at least not one that was enforced. Business casual was appropriate. Leg room was definitely an issue because Im a leg crosser. Isle seat was necessary for me, though it looked like the ground level seats had a bit more leg room. I wish they would have provided a little more information about the show ahead of time (aka family friendly, adult content, adult language, etc.). All things considered, I had a great time and I will definitely go again!
The theatre is awesome. Agents working on behalf of hoogland, not so much. Took my kids for the Halloween carnival. I saw and felt so many racial disparities that I wanted my money back. Literally, when a white child won a game they received 3 pieces of candy at a minimum. When a black child won a game they received 1 piece. Literally. Not to mention how my child was cheated in a game. I paid 60 dollars for ten pieces of candy. If your a person of color dont waste your time or your money here. Its totally not worth it.its dehumanizing. Im disgusted and wont be returning.
Saw a youth ballet here and had great seats. I could see the dancers and hear the music even in the back of the theater. It was a little confusing to get to my seat, but the great staff helped so much.
The show was great. Dancing and music was really good. I am a senior citizen and found it hard to understand the speaking part of the show. Never the less I enjoyed the show. It talks about American history which sucks. Why were we Americans so prejudice? It is an embarrassment.
Took the kids to see frozen. They had a blast and it kept their attention the whole time.
A fun place full of variety. I have both played with and worked with the symphony that rehearses there. The community theatre events they host are always fun.
The theatre was really nice. I appreciated them having booster seats for the kids. Also, we were at the top of the theatre just before the balcony seating began, and we still had a great view. My only negative is that it was SO warm in the theatre!
A wonderful place to see a play!Great atmosphere!
Great experience. Beautiful facility. Youth in Harmony 2019
Just came from the alley cats show. These guys are so talented. Good singers. Good harmony. Funny and very entertaining. Please keep them coming back. Worth the price just to see their suits
Beautiful and practical performing arts center with nice meeting rooms. Springfield is lucky to have this resource.
Went and saw The Little Mermaid ballet recital and it was done very well. The facility did a fantastic job of getting my tickets to me quickly when I didnt have an opportunity to print them off at home beforehand. I was prepared for it to be an ordeal and instead it went amazingly well and I know ill end up returning for another show.
Excellent entertainment by Dual Pianos! Those 2 gentlemen love music and enjoy sharing that passion with the audience! The Hoogland Center is a great place to watch a show since all seats are good. Ushers are friendly and helpful in finding seats. Love the art gallery too!
Had a wonderful time, comfortable and good sight lines.
Seats comfy and spacious, all have a good view. Fairly priced. Affordable parking next to building. Warm environment. Friendly staff. Hope to return in near future.
Great place to see local venues.
Small theater good seating. Adult beverages served.
It is a nice venue. Ive been here for several plays/concerts. That its a nice building and clean. Have had no issues with staff or anything. Some of the performances have been hit or miss but that takes nothing away from the actual venue.
So many wonderful performances, a wonderful place to take in the arts
Great place to enjoy the arts.
It was nice and the play we watched was great. Besides the air being on in the middle of winter it was a pleasant evening.
Great laughs at the big dogs vs the pups!
It is a nice vinue. Sense it is a local theater, sometimes you wont get Broadway quality, but you also wont pay Broadway prices. There is a lot of local talent, if a show peaks your interest Id recommend you giving it a try. You wont be disappointed. Also the online ticket sales were easy to use.
Great theatre(s)...
Great place for concerts and shows
Great place to catch some wonderful community theatre as well as the occasional traveling acts. Only 4 stars because the ticket counter has some odd hours. You are likely best getting your tickets online and paying fees to pick them up.
Went there and filmed for holiday choir, always fun & professional
Ive been in three different plays I loved them all and I think everyone will enjoy it and their service provider
The Hoogland is a complex with theaters and for musical, performing and visual arts.
Its a great place for school plays and choirs etc.
Great place to see a show. Quality is always excellent, and its always a good time!
A great facility supporting the local art and theater community.
We go to Rocky Horror live each year here, VERY fun time.
Downtown Springfield theatre for local theatrical productions. Community driven cultural site with building-specific cups available for purchase and priced/free parking nearby, depending on the time of day.
Good local theatre!!
Club Lacage was a perfect night out!
The site itself is ok but we seen a murder mystery dinner that should have been called just a dinner theater. Did not like it!
Wonderful production of Rocky Horror Picture Show!!!! Thankfully yours very grateful XO Meow

Great community event location
A true gem in downtown Springfield where you can experience the best live theatre Central Illinois has to offer. You can see everything from music to improv to live theatre all with very reasonable ticket prices.
Beautiful theatre! Excellent place to both perform and observe.
Small venue, most seats are great. Clean, elevator available. Enjoyed the art gallery. Price reasonable.
Rocky Horror picture show was awesome.
Charlottes Web was fantastic! Love going here to see the kids preforming.
Wonderful place for many arts programs to meet, rehearsals, classes, and 2 theatres for groups of all ages to perform & showcase local talent.
Snug seating, but nice facility
We enjoyed the play and the facility is very nice. I look forward to future plays.
We had a good time. Great performance!
One of the few places to catch amateur live performances in the area and they do great job.
Love coming here. There isnt a bad seat in the house!
Seats are small and cramped. Everyone around us was complaining about lack of leg room. Left at intermission because seating was so uncomfortable.
As always, I was able to see a quality performance in a beautiful, clean, well maintained theater.
Amazing place for community arts
Great local and visiting plays, musicals, and concerts. Multiple theaters and a nice art gallery
Great variety of shows with local talent
Great resource for the arts, especially plays. Love the SAAC Gallery, too.
The Hoogland has great shows; good seating and reasonable prices.
