Give one star since the preserve knows they dont own this part of the creek but still has it on their paper maps. Stop pulling down our signs and making trails to our backyard and if you see ATVs then its our friends and family on our land not the heritage preserves land. Thank you!

**Trailhead update** if you dont want to park in a sketchy neighborhood, a new parking lot at the mill is now open! This was the last piece that needed to be done to turn this place into a a true gem.

Half stars, half trail. Storm washed out the trail.

Getting to the preserve entrance can be a little tricky and generally its a nice quiet walk. Its good to have a place thats working to protect native species!

The kelly road entrance is sketchy but the neighborhood Idlewood is not Chicago . We walked from Idlewood to lake Saranac all the time .Those woods are awesome and its cleaner now than 40 years ago

It needs a little work. The map at the trail entrance is missing, and the Peters Creek crossing has washed out some. Youll have to get your feet wet to complete the trail.

A diamond in the rough. The reviews of this place dont do it any justice. This property, just like any other SPACE preserve, does not permit hunting. It is not a hunting area. There are no gunshots in the sign at the trail head. However, the area (Clearview Heights... a subdivision?) isnt great. There are loose dogs and ill-maintained houses with some shady owners. I recommend driving here, unlike I did. Its difficult to walk here even before Clearview Heights as there are no sidewalks, crosswalks, etc. The main trail is obscure, but is moderately easy to hike. Wear boots! The stepping stone paths through the creek are not exactly stable, nor are they fully above water. This place is a great, beautiful hike. Do not let the area or negative reviews deter you from coming. Its a great and decently challenging hiking area with an abundance of the rare dwarf-flowered heartleaf plant. Check it out!

Great little gem that I somehow had never heard of in nearly thirty years in the area.

I give NO stars.....Veary bad part of town, its in the middle of a well known hunting area and trails are not marked, so you may end up in fire range without knowing. It is not safe for family or solo travels.
