This is The best place to visit I go there every week and love it I recommend you to go there it is amazing and there is 2 Rail lines NS witch is really busy with train traffic and CSX witch is not that busy with train traffic and they have an HO Scale model railroad in the Southern railway caboose that use to be a wooden boxcar / Freight car ! And also on the CSX line there is a tunnel for the trains to go through they also have a ATCS ... Advanced Train control system witch is something like the dispatcher has and red is a train and green is where it is cleared to and also they have a old train depot with a railroad steam train bell you can ring and a working telegraph system to there hours are 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday and 10:00 until 2:00 on Saturday so if you are driving near Spartanburg SC drop by and amtrak also run there every night and every morning the night one is Amtrak number 20 that is scheduled for 11:39 PM But alot of times it is late and runs around 1:00 AM or later and the morning one is Amtrak number 19 that comes at 4:00 AM and is always on time and the night one runs from New Orleans LA to New York NY and the morning one goes from New York NY to New Orleans LA and the both go through GA SC NC VA WV NJ then NY Penn Station so come here if you are near Spartanburg SC drop by Hub City Railroad Museum on Magnolia ST in Downtown Spartanburg right across the RR tracks from Krispy Kream KK and enjoy your vist !!
The Best Place To Railfan
The staffs were very welcoming but some of the facilities were not well-maintained.
Very educational. Volunteer run and informative. Our niece is addicted to trains and we got to see multiple pull through. Would recommend, especially if you have small children.
Great place for kids young and old. One of the best places that you can get up close, safe and legal to a real train when it passes by.
Lots of history packed into a small place. Nice folks. Worth a visit.
It is a great place to come even when it is closed. They have a lot of local history inside when it is open. When it is closed, there is a great park to sit and wait for trains to roll by.
Kids enjoyed it.... Will be going again while the grandkids are here.....
We love visiting the train depot very nice and lots of history my grandchildren
Very good interesting history!
One of the trains came by while we were visiting.
The little rail car was so exciting for my son and a great place for a child to experience a rail car and see a model train set and station. The museum is more historical for the parents.
Opened Wednesdays and Saturdays. We love going around Halloween so we can get pumpkin donuts from KK and then walk through the old graveyard beside the depot. Small but very informative! Kids can ring a huge bell and learn more code. Souveniers and you trains available. Large train display that looks like a town. Donation ran,so I normally give $2/person. A new restaurant has opened beside the drop. Staff is always friendly and can go on and on and on about trains. Theyre so excited about trains!
This was a fun experience to take my toddlers to. They loved the caboose. They absolutely enjoyed seeing a train come into the station. Its such a quaint little museum tucked away in downtown Spartanburg.
Historic place to visit. I really enjoyed the collections and the displayed antiques. The employees are also friendly and welcoming.
I loved the railroad museum. It was really interesting!
Good to see the train items preserved. Nicely done. My kids love trains. Its great to see all the items that were in and around train stations back in the day.To bad the last guy to post missed the point of the museum. Its sad when kids like him get pulled aways from their social media. Its like a new addiction and they get cranky.
Very interesting and the staff/volunteers spent a nice amount of time with us.
An excellent little museum chock full of local railroadiana. Spartanburg was the hub city and an important junction for many decades. The volunteers love what they do it and it shows.Admission is free but I enthusiastically drop a couple of greenbacks in the donation box.
Nice people and very educational
