Sonoma Overlook Trail

Great hiking spot with lots of small trails. This one is beginner level because there arent any spots that are too steep or too long. Theres always a turn, rest spot or some shade nearby. The scenery is very pretty with lots of trees and tall views. The trail itself is pretty easy to walk without many obstacles but a few rocks here and there. Theres always a clear path and lots of signs to point you in the right direction. You cant get lost here.

Great hike. Fantastic view from the top. Bring water as it gets pretty warm during the afternoon.

The Sonoma Overlook Trail is a great trail to hike and get a great view of the town of Sonoma. The surrounding landscape view is great and the entire loop trail up and back to the parking area is about two miles total. There are also a few other trails that connect to the loop trail for those that wish to hike longer.

Great little hike. Even family friendly. Took our 4 year old! Be careful on hot days, even though it is mostly shaded the open areas can get very hot.

Great little trail that branches into a few different options. The views were beautiful, trails well maintained, and they werent crowded at all! If youre staying in town and need a dose of nature, this is a nice option thats very close.

Great quick little hike. Nothing too spectacular to see but can be quite beautiful on a nice day. Good spot to get a quick hike in and right near downtown Sonoma. You can begin this trail from multiple locations, but the main entrance appears to be the one right off of 5th St W.

Beautiful short trail that is up hill most of the way. The trail from the parking area/kiosk is closed, so you have to walk through the cemetery to get to the other trailhead. Park in the same spot and follow the signs!

This trail is very historic, and gives a great view. If you are looking for things to do this is the place too go.

A nice hike, pretty easy but theres an incline. View is nice and you can see SF from the top in nice weather. As of March 2019 a pert of the trail is closed and theres a path that overpasses the closed bit. Look for the sign with the map for more info.

Easy to moderate hike with great views and a bunch of deer along the path. Vegetation was dried and the path was okay and well-traveled ; however, the maintenance of the path left too for improvement. You might find an entry book along the route to do a diary entry which was kind of neat. My friend added an entry. The views at the top made it a rewarding experience. Enjoy!

Great little warm-up spot to get the blood pumping and enjoy the Vista overlooking Sonoma. I hiked it early in the morning in August and the temperatures were cool and pleasant, and I saw some deer off the side of the trail. Interesting flora and fauna being out in a dry coastal climate!

It was a great hike! Wear sturdy shoes and stay on the trail. The view from the top is absolutely beautiful.

I was in Sonoma and I wanted to take a quick jog in the morning. I looked up a place that I could do so. I was lucky to find this place its a nice trail that goes up to the top of a hill. You have a nice view up there. I think it must be a mile or two to the top. Its an ice climb.

Nice short hike with a good overlook of Sonoma town. Recommend if you have an hour to kill in the area. Highlight was seeing a California King snake.

Good challange

Easy hike that goes through Mountain Cemetery for a short section. All uphill until the loop at the top. Partial shade, no water, potential for infected ticks. Great views. Well worth the short hike. Doable in less than an hour at a slow pace. People run up in less time.

Great scenery from the mid-point of the trail. The experience of walking on this trail is enjoyable!

Stunning views. I love the path starts at the top of an old cemetary. The look out bench gives you views as far as San Francisco on a clear day.

Not a long hike but it does have a great view of Sonoma. Saw quite a few families with small children! So enjoy!
