IG: eatgoseeI strongly favour small wineries with small volume production focusing on turning out good quality wine over eye dropping yields. The personal nature of sitting with an owner or manager to talk about not just in detail about each tasting but also the operations and realities of running a winery is the reason why I go on a wine tour: otherwise I would just find a wine shop and drink my way through the samples.Step forward Peter Cellars who runs precisely this from a vineyard that you would have to know was there otherwise you risk driving passed it. The Incredible Adventures Tour Company from San Francisco brought us here for about an hour where we tasted our way from a rose (highly recommended) upwards to Cabernet Sauvignon and ultimately a Syrah. There were about 6 wines all together. Peter talks you through the profile of each wine, the production process, its awards (many are award winning) and of course whether you enjoy it or not.If this is not enough, there is a family dog that likes to make an appearance at some point.Wine is of course available for sale should you want to take some away with you. You need to book in advance however as unplanned visits are not accepted. I recommend making this a pit stop together with a collection of other smaller vineyards in the area; I would not want to drive out of San Fran (where you are likely coming from) just to come to this vineyard unless I made such journeys regularly and lived in the area.
BEST stop on a recent Sonoma Wine Tour. I could not be happier with my wine club membership and every bottle shared, is a hit!
Great setup. An array of delicious wines and a beautiful view. Would highly recommend
Wonderful time, wonderful wine & his dog does not bite.
My tour passengers always enjoy the wines at Peter Cellars.
This is a very small, but wonderful vineyard. It is at Peters house, at an outdoor seating area built for wine tasting. This was my favorite place we visited on trip to Sonoma. Every wine we had was excellent.
Came to Peter Cellars Memorial Day 2013. Immediately our group of people felt right at home and enjoyed our tasting. This was the best wine that I tasted all afternoon. I signed up for a membership and looked forward to my two shipments a year. If I could give any advice, I would ask that they be better at responding to emails, but overall I really have enjoyed my experience with Peter Cellars. If nothing else, the wine is AMAZING.
Great hospitality, even better wines. Bonus playing with Rupert.
Lovely wine well worth a visit.
Great personal will experience, delicious wines
Excellent wines that are reasonably priced.
You come to Sonoma for the wine and the reds here are exceptional.
Nice guy with nice place and great Merlot️
This is supposedly the smallest winery in Sonoma and it is amazing. Peter has a great taste, shows you around his vineyard and you can try his wines from different years. Wines average about $30 a bottle, which is reasonable considering he is a one-man show.Great place, my personal highlight of Sonoma
Had the pleasure of stopping into this small winery in January 2013. The wine was great (tried a very nice pinot noir), Peter was friendly, and the dog running around added just the right laid back ambiance!
Lovely reds and nice owner
Super cool winery! Loved the family style atmosphere, beautiful Golden Retreiver and friendly, knowledgable owner. I highly recommend the Pinot Noir and Cabernet. Dont leave Sonoma without visiting Peter Cellars. 5 Stars all the way!
Lovely wine, nice tour
Thanks
