My family likes to hike. At Lands End, there are endless picture moment opportunities. Everywhere you look, there are beauty of nature that will for sure to inspire you. It truly is breathtaking. From the cliff house all the way close to Golden Gate Bridge is about 4-5 mile walk, but it doesnt feel like workout at all. Its just a moment to appreciate nature and enjoy family bonding time.

If you want isolation and quiet, this is your campground. We got a few tv stations but no T-Mobile cell service. Check your directions carefully before going there as it can be difficult to find even if using GPS. The roadway going to the campsite is narrow, curvy and steep in one area. We have a 27 travel trailer and often found ourselves having to straddle the center line while driving precariously around blind corners. The camping area has only 8 spots for RVs which are fairly close together and depending on how good you are at backing can be difficult to back into. I wouldnt think of taking a fifth-wheel into this campground. Tons of shade.

Absolutely beautiful location. Even the pit toilets were clean, the shower house has hot water. Staff is very friendly. Two reasons it didnt get 5 stars: the camp sites for tents are *very* small, and theres no brush between sites, so no privacy. We had reserved one site and with someone else right beside us, we wouldnt have had room for our tent - barely had room for our car. The ranger (?) was incredibly kind and helpful, and offered to ask our neighbors to rearrange/move, but let us change our site to one slightly more secluded.Second reason, and the reason we wont go back despite the incredible beauty of the area, is that we had no cell service even with Verizon. Concerned about safety of unable to make a phone call or see tornado warnings etc.If we lived closer, it would be a regular jaunt for day trips! There were multiple hiking trails, picnic areas, in one of the most beautiful parks Ive ever seen - clean and well maintained.

This review is specific to RV camping only. We spent one night at Stone State Park. First, the roads to the camping area are tight. If you have a large rig, dont even consider this park. The camp site was small but nice except that trash filled the fire ring so it was unusable. Before covid19 I would have just grabbed a trash bag and cleaned it out, but not any longer. Camp sites are electric only, no water or sewer (I am probably spoiled by the state parks in my area where electric and water are both usually available even on most tent only sites). The shower in the ladies room was very dirty, be sure to wear shower shoes! My husband shared that the mens room was even worse. We also could not find a dump station on the map nor did we ever see one in the park, thus the need to use the bath house and the disappointment with the condition it was in. If we had planned a longer stay, this would have been a major issue. The park is very pretty, and probably great for day use and hiking. I cannot recommend it for RV camping. Too many negatives.

TL;DR - camping is cheap and good for a night. Avoid the latrine and you’ll be golden. This review is specific to the camping at Stone State Park. First, for the $11/night fee this place can’t be beat! Buuuut that $11 comes at a cost (of course, right?). The sites are sandwiched together, so if privacy is your thing, snag #19 (more secluded, though a trail cuts through its edges), or go someplace else. Another con, the latrine avoid it at all costs and go to the facilities up the hill. Let’s just say I hope it’s just because Covid, but the thing has visibly not been serviced this season. Also the facilities were meh - apparently the men’s is worse than the women’s. But, running water! Flushing toilets! Showers! That’s a win.On the park side, it’s gorgeous! Dense woods provide great coverage for camping. Watch out for those raccoons at night! A fellow camper lamented over a couple of raccoons ransacking their campsite for forgotten morsels in their tent. The trails are short, but beautiful, steep, and a gateway into a world of chirping birds, buzzing insects, and if you’re lucky, darting deer.

Was 6 years ago, not much to remember. My brother, his wife, 2 younger children and his stepson with his girlfriend and my wife and I with our adult son along with his girlfriend and his son, we all decided to camp at Stone State Park while we held our family reunion in Riverside during the day over the weekend we were there. There were some issues, but we seem to be able to resolve the issues reasonably. Understandably, I had couple that was under 21 and restless and his dad was working to reel those two in plus my my own couple who are older and know better were acting up, so were trying to get them settled down a little, if they got kicked out they got no where to go since they came into the park with us.In the end everything worked out, my brother, his wife and 2 younger children decided to stay an extra day and his older son and girlfriend left the park before everyone else.Enjoy Stone State Park and Loess Hills. I grew up across the river in South Dakota and I dont live in this area anymore, but I do try to come back often, but not as often as I would like to.

We tent camped here one night. This is a very unique and cool campground in a huge park with lots of trails. The park is very well planned and pretty. Lots of animals and nature to enjoy. The campsites are all marked well and include nice burn pits for cooking and a picnic table. This is one of my favorite campsites. The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is that the bathroom facilities were in need of some serious attention. They are updated facilities but EXTREMELY dirty. The bathroom was filled with hundreds of millipedes and bugs and the shower floors looked really bad. The price was only $11 to camp; almost half as much as most camping weve come across. Would camp here again and again and again if they decided to clean the bathrooms more.

There web site said my 38 foot fifth wheel would fit in site ten. Upon arrival I stopped by the ranger station, tooted the horn and she ( a park ranger) waved me on. Down the hill and around the corner, the road getting skinny two-lane barley held my rig. As I looked up the hill the left side of the road is washed out. Site ten was a tent site. I backed up and turn around, down a hill and around a corner. I stopped by the ranger station ask for my money back . Lol . I had to fill out a form and send it to park headquarters. Finally got my money back after a 5 week wait.

I reserved and paid for RV space 6. It was barely long enough to get my RV in. It certainly was not wide enough. The sites are also first come first served on the honor system. Four other RVs in nearby sites and campers in tents and vehicles. I think I was the only one who paid. Two young guys in a tent next to me FLYING HIGH all night. Felt very unsafe. Stayed only one of two nights reserved. I would not recommend it for over night use or leaving a vehicle unattended.
