Great volunteers!! Wonderful place!
Very interesting and fun place to visit. 5 original shop buildings from steam locomotive days built in 1917. Operating turntable, motor car rides on about a 1/2 mile section of track, and a large operating HO scale model railroad, railroad memorabilia on display, and a very friendly staff. Admission prices are very reasonable. Guided tours are available or just walk and check it out at your own pace. The fenced in area of the museum covers about 10 acres, but the entire complex sits on about 30 acres. The complex is currently under restoration so some construction may be going on. This is good because every visit shows you something new. My kids love the place and never want to leave. Check out web site for special events they are so much fun! Also,if you are a nature lover there is a large wooded area on the grounds and the complex is bordered by the Big Sioux River so along with railroad stuff to look at there is a very good opportunity to see many nature and wildlife related items also.
Friendly people everytime we go!
