OVER PRICED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!!! MOST EXIBITS DONT EVEN WORK! SHUT THE DOORS ALREADY.. WASTE OF SPACE!!! Let me add understand are suffering due to coronavirus but the prices you guys are asking just to go visit the snow port exhibit is mind blowing bc its not worth $80 for a family of four just to see that thats all..
Really nice place. Went here with a Field trip full of 5 year olds. They had a blast. Plenty of stuff for them to do and see. This place is hands on. The pop exhibit upstairs is where we spent a lot of time. The kids loved it. Theres so much they can do... banking, grocery shopping, cooking, animal vet, water play, farming, tree house, firefighting, building, and more. They have a Imax theater and demonstration all day. My only complaint is they need more help. A few more employees on the floor would be nice when the kids were asking questions.
Sci-Port is an amazing family adventure spot. Both children and parents will be intellectually stimulated in a fun, safe, and family friendly environment. My kids loved the experience.
Great, local place to bring kids to get them interested in science with interactive exhibits. Ive heard their annual Snoport is a blast too! They recently renovated and its a great, little science museum.
So much fun for everybody! I would definitely take my family back. There are so many activities and play areas for the kids. Multiple learning stations that teach kids about different things they could experience. So many hands on experiments for kids it was hard to get mine to leave. You have to go for $12 a person! Also they have a planetarium.
Excellent little science museum in the heart of Shreveport. They did an excellent job with sanitation of the exhibits and ensuring everyone’s safety and health during the pandemic while still allowing kids access to learn about the many different parts of space. The staff was very nice and helpful!
Took my nephews and sister from out of town. They loved it! We even got to pick the movie in the science area because we were the only ones there, which was nice of the staff! They adhered to all the safety guidelines for COVID too!
Was great. I enjoyed the Red River Revel Run!
The adults and children alike really enjoyed the IMAX movie. Loved that most all of the learning stations were interactive...there were stations building the human skeleton, stations teaching making a paper airplane and then a launcher to see how far your plane would fly, a pitching cage to measure how fast you can pitch a ball, many stations teaching the solar system, live animals ..flop eared bunny...a very large king snake...and many, many more interesting things!
Not worth the money, half the exhibits are closed and/or more than half of the machines don’t even work. For being shut down so long for renovations not much was truly fixed or changed.
A waste of 15 dollars. 75% of all attractions were broken or didnt work at all.
Thanks for the invite. The students from Jack P Timmons Elementary School really enjoyed themselves and learned a lot today. Thank you for letting us watch the Panda movie we all ️ the show
Good place for learning Science kids and adults can enjoy. $12 admission..The IMAX movies are extra of course but worth it.
This was the best interactive museum Ive ever been to. Im well into my 20s, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Most of the exhibits were in poor condition, nonworking & paying full price for half this is ridiculous Your response a month later explains everything I dont even remember all the stuff that was closed & then you want to charge extra for the few things that were open, smh. I would be embarrassed to bring my out of town guest here and you should be too, if you cant provide the exhibits than close it down.....
This place is amazing! We took my two year old niece. She had the best time! They have several little rooms with themes for the smaller children. Like a tiny town. They have a grocery store, a paint store, a dress up shop, Doctors office, Dentist office, paint store and more. They also have a water area and a farm area. For kids who are older they have a lot of cool science areas with experiments. My niece was having so much fun she didnt want to leave. Cant wait to take her back again!
Always have a nice time here.
Its a great place especially for a person interested in science, but its a lot of things the kids can enjoy playing and learning with.
Was in the area for the Mardi Gras parade! It was my first one in Shreveport and pretty awesome. The only thing I recommend is to get there early and get a spot where the parade starts.
Very interesting and great things to see and do. Maybe it was the time however there were many exhibits that were either broken or not working.
Really fun! The small kids area is the best! Imax cool too!
Great new interactive learning adventures that feature local history, flora and fauna. Wonderful staff and educators as well!
Went for the first time today and had so much fun. My favorite thing about today was Greg who shared so much knowledge with us on various things that kept us intrigued and engaged!I highly reccomend going and listening to what all he has to say. He definitely made todays learning fun and exciting.
If I could give a negative star I would. It’s sad that such a great place has gone so far down! Over half of the exhibits are either not in operation, being worked on or just broken. Yet none of this is reflected in the cost to go. Most of what can be done isn’t meant for children over 6 years old. This trip was to reward my grandson for his AR test scores but we were all disappointed so much, we left. We started with the much advertised Sno-port and was totally disappointed in it. So we upgraded for an additional $10 each to add Sci-Port, within minutes we were regretting spending any money here. Take your kids to the Aquarium down the street or to Gators and Friends in Greenwood. Don’t waste your money here.
I took my 5-year-old for a day of fun since the weather was cold and rainy. The people working at the front desk were so friendly and helpful. The admission seemed a little bit pricey; it was $24 for me and my son. But perhaps a membership would be well worth the price. We spent most of our time upstairs in the little play town. It was super clean and well-maintained. There were comfortable benches and couches to sit on while you watch your child play. We make Sci-port a must-do every time we visit the Shreveport area.
The children had the best time. And slept the whole ride home.
We enjoy ourselves everytime we come here! The best part about it is the kids zone. My kids have a blast in there! To me, it is worth the $12 each for them to have a good time.
Very pricey for what you get. Sci Port used to be clean, interactive, and great fun for kids. I took my grandchildren and found too many exhibits with broken parts, filthy, or simply not working at all. They seemed to have a skeleton staff in which only one person working one exhibit in which he didn’t have enough supplies to accommodate all SEVEN children. I used to go every year taking many students and looked forward to going again but was very disappointed. I don’t know who is over Sci Port at this time, but they need to step up and revamp, clean, fix, and update what is one of few places to take children in the Shreveport/Bossier area.
Children love this place. We went on a special price day so that was nice. Would have been very expensive for the four of us so we wouldnt have went without the special price. Enjoyed the imaxx movie. A good way to spend the afternoon.
What an AMAZING discovery center!! We were 2 adults and had the BEST time. Not just for kids, #adultsciportSo glad to have met Greg in the planetarium. He showed us our birth sky when we were born, and explained how the zodiac actually works based on the scientific study. We were amazed. He also showed us about the green screen they use in the news, how the light works off color to make it all work.We enjoyed the various learning centers of pendulums, space, gravity, and the vet center for the kids. There is a music center, and a pitching net that shows your pitching speed. The Sci-port center is not expensive, worth the 12.00 and plenty free parking.
I love science museums and so glad they decided to get this one back going. The new Lego part is pretty cool. More exhibits were functional than any other time Ive been. My youngest son had a blast. Will do the imax next time.
Pretty cool place. Good for an outing or a school field trip.
We were disappointed. A lot of of the exhibit things didn’t even work..the kids area was great tho. Admission I think could we cheaper due to a lot of things not working. IMAX was good but of course that’s extra. Maybe our expectations were higher since were from Dallas and have amazing museums.
A great place for family fun with excellent permanent and seasonal exhibits. Its a wonderful option for little ones to run around using their abundant energy in a safe, educational environment. Its a particular blessing when inclement weather keeps families with small children indoors.
We were disappointed. The children’s room is the only thing still up and worth something. This used to be such a fun and exciting place for kids. For so little to see and do, the price should be lower. We were in and out in ten minutes. Hope they renovate and improve soon.
My daughter loved the kids area upstairs. She was running around for hours just exploring. We will definitely be coming back. The staff was super cool and helpful. The place was clean, well as clean as it could be with all those toddlers running around. I can’t stress how much fun she had though. Definitely worth the money.
Great place to spend time with family.
Great discovery experience to satisfy curious little ones. However, some of the exhibits are starting to show their age. Admission could be cheaper because of that. But, my preschooler had a good time, and thats all that matters.
Broken, and deteriorated. with the bonus of rude, uncaring staff.not worth the money.
Great experience! So much hands on.
Great place to learn some science. See Mr. Gregs presentation. My only complaint would be is that some of the exhibit machines are broken.
This was definitely a place for kids, and there were about 50 of them running around on a school trip or something. It had a lot of information about a lot of different scientific things, like magnetism, electricity, the solar system, how dams work, how oil rigs work, just a lot of neat stuff. A lot of stations had hands-on learning equipment, like operating a Mars rover type robot, testing the magnetism of different object, etc. It was fairly cheap as well, like $15 or something. There really werent any staff trying to go around helping or explaining things, which doesnt matter to me, but the kids probably wouldve enjoyed it.
Fun place for kids and adults
There were a lot of exhibits not working. So that was frustrating, but the childrens museum that was inside was working. That was awesome for my 3 and 1 year old. They had a good time.
So excited to be collaborating with Sci-Port for a new, exciting, all ages, interactive adventure exhibit! Adventures of Intrigue at Sci-Port Discovery Center is going to be the perfect compliment to their already awesome programming.
My granddaughter had so much fun exploring all of the different areas. She was literally crying that she didnt want to go. Well be back.
We really enjoyed our time at the Sci-Port Discovery Center. This place has loads of hands on projects and displays. You can spend hours building and trying and testing. Lots of stuff for kids to do. Almost everything was in good working order. Admission wasnt too bad. We had a great time.
Lots of family fun and learning hands on!!
I went here as a child and sci port is not what it use to be by any means. A lot of the exhibits don’t work. The children museum was pretty cool but the bathrooms inside of it were disgusting. I know this place could be so much better than it is. It’s hard to see it so run down like that.
Love going here with my kids. They always have different events going on to teach your kids something educational
Complete waste of time and money. Most of the exhibits were broken. Also very limited staff to help the children enjoy and fully grasp the experience. My three kids did not enjoy it.
The best part is the kids place upstairs. Other than that, its a dud. A lot of exhibits need updating.
Very disappointed. After a year of supposedly renovations, we revisited. Nothing had changed. Most everything is broken, missing parts or not working properly. It’s pathetic they charge 12 dollars a person. Someone needs to do a thorough walk through with notes and fix it up. Never again. The children’s museum in Jackson is much better.
It wasn’t a bad trip. I was disappointed that a lot wasn’t available. We went on a Sunday, so it wasn’t much staff. We decided not to do the IMAX show, because after paying for 8 to get in, that was enough. We watched a 10 min video in the planetarium, and one staff member did a little demonstration on force. They are working on putting in a new exhibit. I’m hoping that IF we decide to go back, there is more to see and the new exhibit will be open. Also, the gift shop was closed because they were doing a Madi Gras parade later that day, which was disappointing. My kids love the gift shops.
My niece and nephew had a wonderful time. Staff is pleasant and lot of hands on activity for the kids.
DisappointingI was so disappointed because this place could be spectacular if some work was put into it. So much of this building was completely closed off to the public and not in use. The cafe had been shut down. There was a whole cafe area but it just had a few vending machines in it. There was nowhere to get actual food. Im surprised a cafe didnt make a pretty good profit in this place. A lot of the exhibits were either cordoned off or just didnt work. My 5 year old loved it (because she doesnt know any better). She was disappointed that she couldnt do a lot of the things she wanted to do because the exhibit was broken or otherwise out of order.I have to say that the best part was probably the PoP Childrens Museum. Its a massive room, taking up most of the second floor, containing small rooms decorated to look like a grocery store, clothing store, dentist office, veterinarians office, etc... There are also a lot of activities, such as the massive water table and an area for babies, 2 and under. My daughter really enjoyed it. Everything is built on a kids scale, not an adults, so its more interactive and enjoyable for children. It also looked newer and more updated than the rest of the museum. Kids rule in the PoP Childrens Museum. One of the best things is that its a whole separate, closed off area where kids can run around and you dont have to worry about them getting lost because they cant leave. My daughter would have stayed in that section alone for the entire day if we had let her.The lady running the front desk was pretty unfriendly. We had never been to the Sci-Port Museum before and I had a few questions for her. When I walked up to get tickets, she didnt even acknowledge me until I asked her if this is where we get tickets. Then she just stood there and stared at me like I was speaking gibberish. I asked if there was a particular order to the exhibits or if we just go through the museum at our leisure, however we wanted to, and she stood there and stared at me like I was a moron. I asked her if the tickets were for all day or if they had specific time limits like the aquarium and, again, she just looked at me like I was from outer space. Perhaps the most disturbing incident occurred when a girl (about 10 years old) came up to the counter and said she couldnt find her parents. The lady behind the counter acted like she didnt have a clue what to do. She started asking the kid questions like, were you with your mom or dad and what does your mom look like?. Of course, the kids description could have described at least 30 different women I had seen walking around in the place. The woman just stood there like she was completely dumbfounded. So I asked her if they had a PA system and could page the kids parents over the loud speaker. Again, she met me with that blank stare. So I asked the kid if her mom had her cellphone with her. When she said yes, I suggested to the woman behind the counter that she call the kids mom and let her know the kid was safe and at the front counter. I dont know if there was something wrong with this woman or what, because, again, she just looked at me like I was a complete idiot. Because this woman was so uncooperative, I ended up letting the kid call her mom on my phone. I made sure my daughter didnt leave my sight the entire time we were there because, obviously, the lady in charge didnt have a clue. All in all, I would not recommend this place and we wont be going back unless there are some updates and renovations to the exhibits.
Wonderful for kids of all ages got the IMAX theater going multiple interactive sites and the planetarium is to die for the gentleman running the planetarium is simply incredible
After 2 years of renovations, over half the attractions are still either gone or broken. Very small children maybe 5 and under will enjoy the trip, but Sci-Port is still a shadow of its past self and nothing like it was when I was being taken so often as a child 20 years ago.
Don’t go. We took my grandson here as a reward but most of it was broken or for kids under 5. It’s a waste of money.
Decreased activities due to Covid but still a blast for children.
Great place for kids & adults to learn and explore. Was really impressed with the whole experience. Plenty of parking and the admission price was fair. If you like science then you will love Sci-Port!
The planetarium and the curator are simply incredible the rest of the staff is fabulous they have many exhibits that are Interactive a beautiful fish tank welcomes you as you walk in bring your kids of all ages and have the time of your life
Fun place! Lots of activities for small children. If you choose to see a movie at the IMAX dome area- make sure you ask what movie you’re paying for. We saw one that was really boring (Apollo something) my 5 & 6 year old were not impressed either. Try the popcorn!
A lot of stuff was broken. There was a pizza crust in the women’s restroom. I went there as a kid and so much stuff was taken away. Not that many things to do in there due to half of it being broken. Staff was on their phones every time we passed. Spent a max of 40 minutes there and left disappointed.
Thus is a very fun, affordable place to go. Take your family, they will enjoy it. There is lots of fun science exhibits for all ages. Its air conditioned and has a cafe onsite. Plenty of restrooms available. This is a good place to spend the day with your family and it isnt ever priced like a lot of places these days.
Definitely not 2&4 year old friendly.... and way over priced. $40 for 2 adults and 2 toddlers.
Great place to take the kids, they had fun, I enjoy seeing all the kids having fun. I had a great time also.
It wasnt as awesome as it was the last time I went witch was years ago but the kids had fun and thats all that mattered
We had fun here. My son has an issue with loud noises, so we were concerned with the movie volume. Its the first movie he had seen in theater. There were several other activities to do. We had trouble getting him to transition from one activity to the next. He didnt want to leave.
My son enjoyed it. There is a lot for kids to do and learn here. My only complaint is the movie screen for the space section looked worse than the dollar theater.
I recently attended a girl scout over night at the Sci-Port Discovery Center was thrilled with the IMAX presentation about the nations national parks; and the kids loved all the hands on things they got to explore; from coding robots to electronic circuits the staff was amazingly enlightening and fun. Many of the kids truly loved the domino effect exhibit too! Great museum!!! Gift shop a bit small and could use more pins and or patches.
There are lots of interactive activities for every age from toddlers to me. The staff were friendly and helpful. Every exhibit area is well maintained with all the pieces and organized. The restrooms were very clean. There are places to sit and rest. The snack area has tables and vending machines. IMAX shows available for an additional fee. Parking is free.
Updates & remodeling of Sci-Port well done.A little pricey, but we enjoyed our visit.
We went for a birthday party of one of our friend’s kids. Always a great place to visit with the kiddos. I can not say enough good things about this place or describe enough about it. One thing I can say is it is a must see with the kids.My daughter really enjoyed the planet section of the place. She has gotten all into science and there were multiple things for her to do there from planets, to anatomy, to mechanics, etc. The center is a real great place to visit!
This is a FABULOUS family experience. Especially loved the planetarium.
Amazing as always and love the small kid center, its adorable!
My little girl enjoyed it all she got to play and learn something new. Such a fun place to take the whole family too.
They only thing here that is any good is the I max theater
Went to Sci-Port today with 19 mo.old baby & 8yr old kid. The Planetarium was awesome. This shouldnt be missed. Show is spectacular, using round screen that resembles a sun outside, sound system is excellent nothing to complain. The ambience is very relaxing as if your star gazing. The kids have a series of hands-on activities which is good for motor skills development. All the activity areas were designed for learning through playing. There were so many improvements & add on. Around past 1pm, Science experiment demo/show was held near the Planetarium. The kids had a blast of learning the amazing facts. You can also view a video about the surrounding environment in Louisiana, about Bayous & other exciting living organisms that play a major role in Louisianas natural habitat. The staffs are very helpful & accommodating. Restrooms are kept-clean & well-maintain. If your hungry, theres Galaxy Café. Want to bring some souvenir stuff? Stop by the souvenir shop then.
First visit and we had the combo including the sno port. Not as exciting as I hoped, relatively basic set up but the kids enjoyed it. The remainder of the place had some interesting displays but couldve been more interactive and informative. The pop childrens section was super cute amd really fun and interactive for our smaller children. All the staff were super friendly. The rocket sleds video display was fun but I think it would be even better if it included other snow views as well. Priced decent. Ive visited the science spectrum in lubbock tx and is much better by comparison, in my opinion.
This place is amazingly cool for kids and adults of all ages. Planetarium and cool interactive exhibits and theyre always changing things up. Staff is super friendly too.
It was a wonderful experience I Going To take my grandson Next time
Fun place for kids and especially the liquid nitrogen ice cream!
Great place for the kiddos! They learn so much while there!! My son enjoyed a lot of it. 4 stars because of the price but its great!
The IMAX dome is my favorite of all theatres! It makes you feel like you are actually inside the scenes! This time I watched the video on National Parks and it was so amazing! These are places I will likely never be able to afford to go see in real life, so seeing them on a huge screen at least gave me part of the experience. The museum has a lot of cool things and my kids love it all just as much as I do. It is also a great place for field trips!
Sno port was a joke. $30 for 2 adults and a 2 year old. There were 2 puddles to catch magnetic fish with some Melissa & Doug toy poles, styrofoam blowing in a small bubble display, foam blocks in a tent, some all white LEGO’s, and some stuffed balls to toss at some fake windows for no reason. It was all squeezed into MAYBE a couple hundred feet.
This place needs more life and upkeep
My kids loved it . Which they learning and had tons of fun doing it.
Fantastic exhibit for young children (babies - age 8) to explore, play, and learn about different careers. Lots of good information on the walls for parents to easily explain the details pertaining to the processes of and naming words indicative of each field.
Great exhibits that are fun and educational for all ages. The IMAX dome theater is another great experience if you have never been in one.
I love it because it has lots of fun things to do and also you can go to the movies
Great indoor fun for children of all ages. Lots to learn and hands on activities. If you live in Shreveport/Bossier and have children it is definitely worth getting a membership!
Had to pay full price admission even though the main attraction “snow port “ is closed :-( lots of exhibits are broken or just boring. Front desk was deceptive when I asked about the main attraction being closed and told us we could access the attraction downstairs by going upstairs. Geeze the least they could do is offer IMAX for free but nope full price. Please skip this attraction it is not worth it. Rate 2 starsThree stars update: I complained to management and they let us tour the snow area with a guide. They also had a guide take us to the normally closed to public roof top which was not much to look at. Snow exhibit is geared towards ages 1-7 mostly and oddly enough did not have actual snow just styrofoam, white Leggos and igloo blocks, we did not see the mini movie while sitting in a sled. Management said they know about the broken exhibits. Really just wanted my money back. Lady that told us to access snow port by going upstairs looked genuinely shocked when I complained and after explaining 3x to her about her instructions she finally said that she was telling us that their are more exhibits upstairs. That is not what she actually said. :-(
A place that you must take your kids. Had our daughters 5th birthday here and all of the kids had a blast.
I went when I was a kid and it was fun. Im now 24 years old and just wanted to go as a joke but ended up staying for 4 hours and actually had a great time. The guy that works in the planetarium is the reason Ill come back though. Very friendly as were all the staff but he was just extremely excited about answering every question I had and actually taught me a lot about the universe including dark matter and string theory which made me realize that it isnt just a place for children to go on field trips. Everyone can learn something here. I really cant wait until all the exhibits are redone.
Fun times, even without little ones. Yes Im kind of a nerd.
I love this place because its so educational for the kids. Theres lots to explore and experience here. They added a Bricks 4 Kidz inside, which is why we originally came. The Bricks 4 Kidz offers classes, after school programs, and birthday parties. We enjoyed our class making space ships.
Went 6/28 w my grandaughters from out of town. We were so disappointed. Lots of broken games. Really dirty. IMAX dog movie was the only good thing. Never saw an attendant. 1 lady taking money and explaining things. She was nice. Gift shop closed. Restaurant was vending machines. Not anything like advertised.
