The Airport Loop Trail near the parking lot is great for beginners. Definitely go up the red rock at the midpoint. Awesome views, and photo opportunity. My sister and I didnt finish the loop since that looked difficult so we just turned back the way we came.

Its a beautiful overlook. I came here for a sunrise moment. Im not a people person and far from someone who wants to hike. So if I can be lazy and drive to the beautiful spots and avoid the Costco/ Bobwards people then these are the time and spots I love!

$3 parking and a 30 second walk to this spot, but beware it will get crowded. Great panoramic views. If you are not there at least thirty minutes before the sunset you may not get a phenomenal vantage point. Plenty of room, however there are many people that go there each and every night!

Great place to see all of Sedona and the beauty that surrounds it. Also, its better to pay the few dollars to park at the airport rather than try and find a spot halfway up the hill. And for those so inclined, its an easy walk downhill to the other viewing area where parking is nearly impossible to find.

Great view from the top of Airport Mesa Drive. All day parking is just $3 at the kiosk or finish by 8am and dont pay. We parked under a big tree in the parking lot and found it to be a great place to take a nap in our vehicle after a long drive. Sign says no overnight parking but dont think there would be a problem since receipt says good till 11:59pm. Pay $3 more dollars after midnight and I think youd be golden.Dont miss the short but at sometimes moderate hike to the summit of the vortex on the way up. It is located at a small parking area on the left about halfway up Airport Mesa Rd.

Great spot for a great view! There are couple of flat rocks to sit on and two 25¢ fed binoculars. Parking was $3/$5 bucks. It got packed fast and got super loud so I advise you get there 30-45 minutes before the sunset to get a good picture and take in the view in silence.

This is one of the 4 major vortex spots in Sedona. From the parking lot, its a quick jot up the hill and if you must park further up and around the bend, it is still only .06 mile walk through beautiful desert. Take water and sit and feel the energy. The best view of Sedona.

The man at the car rental at the airport in Flagstaff recommended we drive up there. The panoramic view was amazing. While we were there, another couple from our home state was there

Beautiful view overlook the town of Sedona. The town is somewhat sleepy at the time of our visit but its so perfect that we didnt have to be stuck with the crowd and we get to enjoy it as it should have been. It may be a little overdeveloped but that meant convenience. So hard to find the perfect balance between convenience and natural preservation. But this is definitely a place for a visit!

Cannot recommend enough. Stunning views of Sedona. Highly recommend going for sunset, the rocks glow and its a scene like no other. There are trails very close by that are also very worth taking a look at, none are extremely strenuous and it can make for a nice stroll. One of the best places to get views of the entire area!

We went here twice in one day. Really nice trails and great scenic lookouts. They had binoculars where you put a quarter in and view it all. Parking at the lot on top of the hill is only $3 and you can come back in the evening to watch the sunset free, just show your already paid parking ticket.

This is a great viewpoint that is definitely worth checking out.Parking at the top is easy, it was $3 per car when we were there, and there is a small lot halfway up that is closer to the summit view point, but fills up quickly. The lot at the top has its own west facing view point, and is only a .6 mile hike to the east looking viewpoint and summit. This is beautiful any time of day, but Id highly recommend it at sun rise or set!

Pretty good view of the sunset and the valley. You can tell theres something up just by the number of cars parked and number of people around starting an hour before the sun hits the horizon. However, the lookout point and parking close by have an unmaintained feel to it. Even if its dirt, it can be cleaned up some.

Be
Review №25

There is enough to keep truly outdoorsy people entertained, and the parking is slim at the base (where the hike is easier) so you do have to park at the top and there is a fee for that. And its quite a long hike around the hill to get to where the trail for the vortex begins. But the views are stunning, and its worth a trip at least once.

About as easy as it gets for a nice sunset. Your first instinct is going to be to leave as soon as the sun dips below the horizon to beat the traffic. Stick around for another 20-30 minutes. Its worth it.$3 parking. Gets busy so dont expect those to be the spot. Bring something to sit on. Great restaurant and bar at the airport.

The best spot to overlook the City of Sedona, and to watch the sunset. You can see almost everything in Sedona from up on this overlook. Please be aware that there is no place to side park your car. You must park at the parking lot available across the street from the overlook point. They charge only $3 and its surely worth it.You can also walk from there to the airport or the the coffee shop to get something to warm up with, as it is cool up there.I added sunset pictures and landscapes so you know this is one of the must see places to visit when in Sedona AZ.

Come here first! Sit in silence and marvel at this natural beauty. Bring some quarters and exact change if your parking ( its only 3$ dollars). There is a very, very rocky path that takes you to one of the four natural vortexs that Sedona has,. If your in tune this is a great place to come and meditate and center yourself. Life is so wonderful. Enjoy friends. ~ AKGypsy

Beautiful spot, I recommend going for the sunset! However, there are so many people that crowd this little lookout. This takes away from your photo op and only about 50% of people were wearing masks.

Tell others why I love this place? Um, pictures are worth a thousand words. Such a great vibe here, although parking can be a bit tricky. There is parking at the top of the hill. It says $3, but was broken when we tried to pay. Trail around the hill is about 3 miles? Views are simply stunning the entire way around the trail, to say nothing of the vortex as you walk into it. Pack some snacks and some good shoes, or just enjoy the view from the main area if youre not up for a small adventure!

This view point is in all the guide books as a great sunset location. It is part of the year, and now the city has started charging $3.00 for a day permit. If you see no clouds in the sky, dont go. Yavapai Vista on hy 179 is much better but you still need a permit. First photo is Airport sunset, second two youre facing East, and the rocks really do glow like that.

Amazing place to get your bearing of Sedona and the locations of so many sites! The viewing scopes are great and people are very accommodating as far as sharing them. They are free to use. The parking is $3.00 across the street from it. You can stay as long as you like. Some people park there and walk down the road to the Airport Mesa Vortex and hiking trails also. If you do, PLEASE walk single file! The road is narrow and some people walked hand in hand and made it hard for those of us driving back and forth.

Review №59

I say this place is hyped for sunset and for no reason it gets crowded. Id say if you are a professional photographer and you want to capture some pictures then yes, sunset time is recommended but if you are a traveller and want to get a good view of sedona, then go any time. Sunset time gets really busy and causes traffic jam. It will cost you $3 to park there or if you dont wanna pay this, just stop few feet before the overlook parking where you can hike on top of a mountain for the same view. If you want to go during sunset, plan to reach about 45-60 minutes before to avoid traffic while coming in.

This place is something else. I am so glad we made the stop. Next time we will arrive earlier to get closer parking. Bathrooms are available. You must pay for parking before entrance. The views are spectacular and many people are there to see it for themselves. It is crowded but worth it. We brought our children and they loved it just as much! When in Sedona this is a place that is a must see for a sunset view. The red rock is stunning and I’ve never seen anything like it. I hope to go there again soon!

A beautiful spot to take in views of Sedona. Its great anytime but especially good at sunset. From the overlook there are views of Thunder Mountain, Cockscomb, Coffee Pot Rock, Wilson Mountain and much more. The overlook parking lot offers access to trails to the Airport vortex and connection to the Airport loop trail. From the trails you have opportunities for views of the entire Sedona and Oak Creek area depending on where you hike. The Airport loop trail is a great way to see everything the area has to offer with views of Bell Rock, Courthouse Rock, and Cathedral Rock among others.Parking at the overlook is $3 but worth the opportunity to take in the overlook view and spend a little time hiking the trails.

It was spectacular, a little cold on the day we went. Be sure to keep your jackets handy when you need them. Nice look out. Parking is there for a little fee. You will be able to get nice scenic view. We waited for the sunset, but didnt get what we expected, probably because of the weather and clear sky. Best lookout and sunset spot in Sedona. Go there early enough because the sun might set earlier than you think, and the time to find a parking spot and identify the viewpoint you want should not be underestimated either. Dont miss it.
