I haven’t gone to any of the services, but I’ve walked the labyrinth a few times. Walking the labyrinth is peaceful and meditative, yet you’re also in the midst of a bustling neighborhood, so you’re reminded that you’re not too far from civilization. On the side of the labyrinth there are tables and benches underneath trees to also relax. What a blissful spot!
Believe it or not it was raining. I had not been to the majestic cathedral in quite sometime. A friend of my had recently committed suicide and I sought some comfort in this house of God. Many do not know that this church is not complete. The original design of the building was twice as large. Because of construction costs and troubles raising funds during the great depression and WWII, the existing smaller layout has remained. It was quiet during my stay, except for a clergyman who stopped at my side after seeing the tears on my face.
I attended Sunday evening Compline service. This evening, for the first time ever the the Womens Schola made up the choir. It was beautifully sung. Before and after, attendees walked the labyrinth outside the main door of the cathedral. Young people set up comfortable places on the door of the cathedral with blankets, yoga mats and pillows.
I am not personally a congregant (nor follower of any specific religion), but as a first-time visitor I sat in awe of the beautiful architecture and phenomenal acoustics housed within St. Marks. I was lucky enough to see Collin Hay perform here this evening and though it seemed an odd venue to me initially, the cathedral was a perfect match to the intimate nature of his show. I have say it was a truly wondrous experience I will never forget!
Ascension Sundays music was very interesting and spiritually moving. It was so appropriate for the Ascension.. I really was amazed to see and hear the percussion that was added to the music.. So much texture..!!
Saint Marks Episcopal Cathedral is not only a place of worship but also a place of gathering. Its a place to heal, a place to enjoy, a place to reflect, and a place to grow. Its an incredibly tall cathedral with a full organ inside. Plenty of parking around though it can get full easily if there is an event. You can potentially see the city skyline and cityscape to the West if you wanted by wading through the bushes.
Beautiful cathedral with great acoustics. I went for the singing on Sunday nights, which is a really special experience. The sounds resonates the the church.
I went here for the Sunday night Gregorian Chants. It was an amazing experience. I can not put into words what it is like to sit and receive prayer that is sung to you in such a beautiful way. Your whole body vibrates with the good energy of the event. It’s a beautiful thing to have people of all walks of life sitting, laying and standing to simply receive prayer. It is worth the experience.
A beautiful welcoming space open for worship or other events. Recently remodeled it is both modern and classic. Easy to find and great parking for being in North capital hill.
I went to Saint Marks Episcopal Cathedral for their compline service and it was so relaxing. The all male choir sings in the sanctuary and helps visitors wind down and prepare for their upcoming week. All the volunteers are nice and there is usually parking.
Generous and friendly, huge choir and glorious classic cathedral organ played by two! Prize-winning organists! Thoughtful and challenging clergy, good sermons on the liturgical calendar. All are welcome there.
Very quaint cathedral. I usually go for the Compline. The huge organ at the back sounds great! Parking isnt much of a hastle either, but it can fill up quickly.
I primarily attend the complain choir. It is a large beautiful church. The choir is always such a relaxing treat. Their Gregorian chants and verses are keeping with old tradition and beautiful in the acoustics of the hall. It is a bit of an attraction however. There are regularly people whispering, coming in during the performance and dropping things. If you attend for the choir, make sure you are respectful.
Free parking, spacious cathedoral filled with heavenly choir and walked to restaurants afterwards.
Sunday night Compline (rhymes with discipline) is a totally sung service that echoes around the entire high-ceilinged church. People come in their pajamas and (some) lie on the floor - its an experience like no other. Incredibly beautiful and unforgettable.
Beautiful music. Gorgeous font. Great place for the devout, seekers, and curious observers. No pressure.
Amazing Sunday night choir performances. Every Sunday night at 9:00 the men’s choir perform “compline” to close out the week. It is open to everyone. A great time and place to reflect before starting a new week.
Compline is a must on Sunday nights if you enjoy vocal music.
An important center of music in Seattle, St. Marks is a beautiful church, with a great acoustic for the style of music they do so well here. Evensong and Compline are incredible services that you should make time to be at. A beautiful way to finish the day on a calming, contemplative note.
Beautiful spiritual, Godly love music in an awe inspiring place of worship!
What a place. Compline service is an amazing way to end/start the week. Very thankful for this.
We went for womens choir. It was beautiful! People laying on the floor was a little disrespectful I felt, but for me and my daughter it was a terrific experience.
Was here for a CHOIR! choir! Choir! event - fabulous acoustics!
No matter where you are on your journey of faith, you are welcomed here.
A dynamic space for seeking solitude. Splenderous music.
Wonderful venue for concerts. ADA accessible.
Beautiful old church. Great sound for concerts.
The most powerful organ in Seattle. There must be a convergence of leylines here.
Its a reinterpretation of the typical cathedral but with a certain bent on materials used, plus a feel that it is still an ongoing project but more or less done at this time. Peaceful, quiet interiors.
Pretty amazing setting for listening to chant.
Beautiful cathedral. Caring people.
What a wonderful place to worship. Beautiful space, beautiful music, beautiful liturgy. Welcoming, inviting, accepting, affirming, if you are seeking a house of worship in Seattle, then look here first.
Open space, quality vocal and organ musical offerings, formal space with informal participants lying on blankets barefoot, sitting/lying on blankets on chancel, come as you are whether 20-90 participating as seems appropriate to you in a sacred space to seek God.
This place is so pretty I love the Organ to its really amazing how cool the place is.
Seattle Choral Company concert - brilliant acoustics.
Great venue for a music concert Ive attended
Weve been coming here for over a decade now. We love everything about it. Such a welcoming community that inspires people to do good - whatever that may mean to each person.
They did a really good job with the renovations (what took years). The inside looks as impressive as the outside.
I visited Saint Mark as a homeless person. It was shelter in place of sleeping on the streets and I am grateful for the services provided.
Its a beautiful cathedral. I go to a different church in Seattle, so Ive only be to Sunday night compline service, but it was incredibly peaceful and a great night of worship.
Extraordinarily beautiful building. Very loving people and great sound for compline.
Very Nice and Helpful People
Be sure to catch Compline, Sunday nights @ 9:30 -- Super chill way to reset, for the week.
A great palce to fell acceptance and to reflect

My parish! So happy and proud to be among its congregation for 10 yrs this Easter! Alleluja!!!
This church is nice but I find all church in north America not as beautiful as in Serbia or Russia or even Canada why is this ? Still I enjoy coming here
I always feel the presence of God here.
Laura Gibson concert in December was amazing. Incredible venue.
Complain. 9:30 pm Sundays. If you don’t know what I mean do yourself a solid and trust me. Bring a blanket and pillow. And your best friend. Drive around back for free parking. ( go a little early to take in the view).Don’t sit down on a seat. Find a spot to lie.It will be a memory to keep.TAke your friends, take your family. Don’t worry about the concept of religion just enjoy the experience.
Inclusive, diverse congregation with a long history of social justice.
My sanctuary since early 80s! ️
Violet stained glass bathes the worship space in uplifting rays. The chapel is white Gothic carved stone and opulent at that. A must see for those in or visiting the city. Also, a great view point. Huge community and a lot of young families. Seemed welcoming to every walk of life, creed color etc. Trying to get involved in outreach ministries and EFM is tricky and guarded. An old priest there made no apologies about her cold and slow return of my interest/inquiries. She had the its the way it has always been done attitude classic in so many organizations. I did find the priest at the weekday Eucharist to be friendly and warm in personality.
Beautiful architecture, wonderful people, great location. Positive atmosphere.
My favorite place for Sunday night compline. Mens choral is amazing and the interior is gigantic and cozy. People bring pillows and sleeping bags for that service. After the choral is over, you can go up the stairs in the lobby and sit around the organ in the balcony while someone plays, often a different organist week to week.
Beautiful music in a beautiful space.
Beautiful old church and super friendly people. You can meet a new community or find a corner to sit in and just soak it in.As they say No matter where you are on your journey, YOU are welcome hereDont miss an opportunity to attend Compline on Sunday evenings, it is magical.
I’m a little uncomfortable rating a church, but it is a beautiful building and the Sunday evening compline service is a lovely experience, regardless of your personal spiritual/religious convictions.
Beautiful chorus of voices
This womens shelter is one of the best. Just get rid of 3rd shift shelter staff and no one gets hurt or hypnotised homeless women. Have it ruff enough. But thankfully not dead. Thank you Tina wilde. Indy/ Indiana. Now at taco Bell. You must be safe! The bay is going to happen. Weather here is in 70s been mostly. Sunshine. Farmers are planting corn. So thankful for your help. ////////// Tina.Wilde 2017.
Sunday night Compline is always amazing.
Awesome organ. The only place where I have heard the music layered vertically.
Great acoustics. Thanks for hosting Seattle Rock Orchestra Social Club.
I love St Marks, everyone is welcoming and loving. I cannot make it down as much as I would like, but it is my home church.
Yep... the sunday night chanting is amazing... Highly recommend!!!
Beautiful architecture, brilliant music, and peaceful place.
Sunday night Compline is a treasure.
I came here for the night vocal service and it was very meditative.
Compline at 9:30 pm every Sunday night is a wonderful, spiritual experience.
Beautiful sanctuary. Very live acoustics.
Excellent acoustics. Fantastic music.
A great viewpoint. Come here during New Years and the Fourth of July to view the Fireworks.
I only went there for Seattle Weavers Guild meetings in the auditorium so I dont know anything @ the church.
Must see and hear to experience the place.
