Located in Savannahs Design District just off Whittaker Street, Roots Up has something for everyone with an eclectic collection of art and more. If you cant find something you like here, you never will. Leslie Lovell has an accomplished curators eye and casts a wide net. The atmosphere is calming and inviting, youll want to stay awhile and find your special piece. Theres probably a story behind it. Dont miss this place.

This shop bought my art at an auction house. I never asked to be in it. Since that time I have visited the shop and tried to work with it. I love Savannah. The problem is if they are going to have online visibility, they should monitor their social media like Facebook. I have a 10 plus year net stalker old man creep. He has tried to copy my art after buying a few small works from me in 2006. He was caught and retaliated by stalking me ever since. He has gone on to social media and posted all kinds of horrible lies about me. The other galleries and collectors he posted comments on were removed by them and they blocked this guy. He got on a post on Roots Up and did the same thing. Roots Up has just left the post up promoting my art with this creeps comments on there, this has been up for a long time. I email Roots Up and they dont bother to respond. I take my art serious and that is one reason I did not want my art in this soap on a rope tourist shop. If you are going to have my art on there to drive people in, at least monitor your online presence. It is stupid that I have to get on Google reviews to get your attention. I know you dont care. I hope to God you never buy my art again. Steven Chandler

Interesting gallery featuring the best Outsider Art I’ve seen outside of a museum. Friendly gallerists happy to tell you great stories. Worth a browse.

Leslie the owner is hospitable and helpful. The store has a electic selection of local and self taught artists, including at least two Howard Finster pieces. Last time I was in there I bought a vintage duck decoy and the time before that a painting by the daughter of Mos T (Moses Tolliver). Located in Savannahs design district putting it near similar art-related stores.

What a find! I bought a Betty Nathan piece there and if you dont know her, you should. Fabulous folk art. Good prices for eclectic art and jewelry. As a docent at tge Jepson, I live contemporary art, and Roots Up makes collecting affordable and relatable.
