I brought my 3 year old daughter here recently and we had a blast! The museum is housed in a large 2-story building, and there are so many hands-on and roleplaying activities available to engage young minds. Our favorite place to play was the pretend market/post office upstairs! Theres also a pretend bank, schoolhouse, and diner--Seriously such a fun place where kids can spend hours roleplaying! They also have fun short workshops available at certain times that introduce scientific topics to the little ones. Overall you could spend hours in this place and still come back later and find something to do! Well definitely be back!
This place was absolutely awesome to take our kids. We were in town visiting family and had since time to kill. We could not have chosen a better place to let the kids get out some energy. Great place for them to use their creativity and cognitive skills. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Not sure if early Saturdays are normally slower but not a lot of traffic before Noon.
Friendly staff, some great exhibits and great price.
This is not a museum, lol. Its an indoor play space, a fairly nice one with a variety of locations like a forest, old time diner, schoolhouse, etc. That being said, the toys are old and kinda piecemeal. The locations feel empty and in need of a makeover or additional props. There are also a weird number of employees, like at least four or five, when I dont see a real need for more than two or three at a time.$8 a person is a lot for the entrance fee, thought you can stay all day and its a good place for your kids to have some creative play. If you are library members, you can get in for free with the Clifton Park library pass. There is a unisex bathroom and wheelchair accessibility. Its in a fun part of Saratoga Springs, with walkable restaurants and cool old houses to stroll past.
Totally worth it if you can get passes for free from the library. A little underwhelming if you had to pay full price. My 7 year old was just on the cusp of still finding it fun, but it was perfect for my 2 year old.
Soooo fun! There was so much thought and research done into the education aspect. It was so clean and so exciting. We HIGHLY recommend
Kids had a real blast trying all the interactive activities offered. People generally allow 2 hours to visit but we were there for 5 hours and the kids didnt want to leave. Its well organized but a bit hectic at times and they cater for 2 to 10 years old in my opinion.
Our Early Childhood Program scheduled a Monday to attend for 90 minutes-even though they are normally closed on Mondays. They charged only for the children. Staff and parents were free! They are very accommodating to our needs!
My Children had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly. Facilities were clean and well maintained.
Nice place to bring kids
My kids like to play here.. but the place has been getting more and more run-down over the years. They could do a lot better.
We had a blast. I highly recommend it for kids of all ages. The STEM room is our favorite!
Great place but bring your hand sanitizer! Little hands playing and sharing . Always good to bring hand sanitizer to apply though staff keeps place spic and span and sanitized
Great for little kids. Plenty to do and lots tp learn. So many neat hands on activities!!! Highly recommended!!!
I feel like Saratoga can do better than this. Daughter enjoyed for bit, but did get bored rather quickly.
This was such a fun museum for the kids! They had storytime and lots of fun activities for kids of all ages- the website says its for kids 7 and under but my 10 year old enjoyed it as well- especially the STEM room. We spent 1-2 hours but we could come back again throughout the day if we wanted which was very nice. Its right in downtown Saratoga so we were able to park for free in the public lot just a few blocks away, walk to the museum and then venture into downtown for lunch.
Its a fun afternoon for ages 2-6. Lots of hands on activities, though some werent working right.
My kids had so much fun here! There is a lot to get imaginations going!
Very small but they made it well worth it. A lot of fun diverse activities throughout
This is a fun place to bring your kids on a rainy day. The exhibits are fun and interactive while clearly educational at the same time. Between the two floors, it would be easy to spend 2hrs having fun here. Parking is the biggest problem, but if youre ok with walking or paying, thats not such a big deal.
We had my sons 4th birthday party here. We had kids ranging in age from 1-12 and every single child had a blast! You don’t have to worry about anything-the party leader Madison helped round the kids up to move to the next activity. We had so much fun and we will definitely be back! Thank you!
We absolutely love visiting the childrens museum. Our boys love the variety of activities; especially the life sized fire truck and play kitchen/ diner. The museum had educational workshops that encourage creative thinking while meeting specific objectives. On todays visit- the kids had about five stations that taught balance. Definitely recommend this place on rainy days, a change of pace or long breaks.
This place is a lot of fun. Well be coming back for sure.
Disappointing for a childrens museum unless your child likes play villages. Basically two floors of just pretend shops and very few actual interactive, educational exhibits. One STEM room that wasnt finished yet with incomplete sets. Like a marble run with no marbles. Staff was apathetic.
Its a perfect little something to do with the littles.
Soo great for my toddler to go and play for the day
Good environment for children. Spending one to two hours is sufficient. But guardians should be exempted from the museum fee.
Great place to take your kids for a few hours!
Fun place to bring the kids, he enjoy himself a lot.
This is a really neat place for kids to role play. They can dress up and pretend to be on a fire truck or work in a restaurant, a bank, a train station or many other occupations. There are so many hands on activities for them to enjoy in a safe environment.
Very crowded in the weekend recommend if you can to go during the week. It is two floors of fun and entertainment for kids most ly geared to 8 and under even very small children will have lots to do. The parking is a problem buy worth the trip especially on a rainy day
This is a great place to bring your kids. If you dont have kids, this is a great place to bring other peoples kids. If youre not allowed to be around other peoples kids, this is probably not a great place for you. I really enjoy coming here with my friends kids.
Dirty, dingy, not well taken care of. Very disappointed. No A.C., things just thrown on the floor everywhere and all the costumes are ripped and torn and look like they have never been wash. Stem room was pretty sad. Got the pass for 4 from the library so at least it was free. Wont be back.
A very enjoyable place for parents with small children. Lots to play on and interact with. I would allow 2 hours for a visit.
Great environment, lots to do the kids love it!
This place is so cool. There is something for everyone here. The second floor is just one big role playing area built up like a small town with a grocery store, a bank, a vets office, etc. They also have very reasonable prices for birthday parties and handle everything from serving the food to clean up. And they provide pretty neat party favors.
Very dirty and everything you touch is sticky. Needs a serious update.
This place is neat!! Buuuut, our kids were too old for most of the stuff they had there, so they didnt really enjoy it. I thought it was cool tho
Great place to take toddlers. Many fun and interesting exhibits.
Cute place! Could use updating.
The kids had lots of fun, but the admission prices seem a little high for whats inside. Some exhibits are in need of maintenance, too.
A little small but my son (2 years old) loved it. When we went into the upstairs part it smelled really bad (like dirty diapers), not sure if it was just the day we went or if it always smells like that. We went on a weekday and it wasnt very busy. Strollers are not allowed to be taken into the museum/play area but may be left in the coat room area. There is free parking on site (you will see signs for meter pay but thats for after hours) The staff was very friendly; we would go back
Lots of things for young kids to play with.
This is the 2nd time I have been to this place and I only went the 2nd time because there was a birthday party ..everything in the place is dirty and gross and old I felt skanky after leaving... All the stuffed animals were gross and dirty all the play food had teeth marks and were not even in the right places. After the kids were done playing they sent them into a room to eat pizza and they didnt even wash their hands before eating. The workers there were super nice but they really need to do something about the things to play with for the kids they need to get some new stuff or a least clean the old stuff so it doesnt look so gross!
Great play place for small children! We love having a membership to go whenever the weather is too harsh to play outside in. Every time we go, things are tidy and well organized. Parking lot is a little small so on busy days, expect to park off site and walk a block or two.
Good place for kid birthday parties. The people working there are good and take care of everything. Kids would definitely have a nice time with all the games and it has enough room for parents to hang aroundtoo
The kids LOVED the 2nd floor!!! Different stations with costumes to wear accordingly. Fire truck, hospital, diner (the favorite), construction, bank, post office and so on. My kids couldve stayed the whole day if i wouldve let them!
Clean and friendly, could use more engaging activities for the smaller children
Kids have so much fun here.
My daughter loved coming here. It is more of a deluxe pretend play space than a museum. There is one room with some stem exhibits but they are poorly executed. It is perfect for little ones all the way up to age 6 or 7 if they like role playing.
Truly a great place to stop. They let us park for free and go get lunch before entering the museum (which does have a moderate fee). Happy, friendly, nice people that like kids, which was great for our grandson!
Great place to bring young kids, lots of rooms for play pretend including a bank, store, post office, and theater. Also has a STEM room with marble runs and other sets which is good for older kids too. Watch for free admission days, often one Sunday each month.
Let me start this by stating that I applaud all those responsible for the Childrens Museum of Saratoga for their presence and efforts. They do a great job with what they have and I am grateful to have a childrens museum of any kind in our area. I rate this 3 stars for 2 reasons (none of which may apply to you). 1st: Having experienced many childrens museums in many states, Ill just simply say: I wish this was so much more comparable to its country wide peers. Backers whoever you may be - please consider helping these wonderful people turn this venture into something worthy of its NY Capital District status. 2nd: As a parent of a special needs toddler - this is just not the place for us. The offerings are either too young for our kiddo or require more pretend play then capable. Wish so much there was more in between such as science, large puzzle structures, more art and particularly an outdoor exhibit. I cant stress enough this is a great place for the right kiddo. It just has so much potential to be so much better.
Expensive but fun for kids under 5 only
Wonderful staff that is always friendly and attentive. I really feel welcome when I bring my daughters and mistress.
A nice activity to do on a rainy day with kids, not as well up kept as I expected. Check with local libraries for museum passes for discounted entry.
It’s difficult for me to understand why they would charge the $8 admission fee to adults that are only there to provide supervision, much needed as you won’t find an employee at any part of the exhibit. Also the bubble exhibit hasn’t worked since we 1st went and yet it remains there.. why?
Great place and admission is for the whole day
Just took my daughter (3 years old) here today. First of all, $8 to get in per person (not per child) is ridiculous. It cost me, my husband and our toddler $24 for her to have access to an indoor playground. Considering most of the exhibits were donated, the high price is uncalled for.The place is pretty darn dirty. I felt squeamish watching my daughter pick up toys that looked like theyd been handled by hundreds of hands without being cleaned properly. I crawled into an underground tunnel with my daughter and crawled back out...my hands were sticky and I had to wash them...the carpet was filthy. And this is coming from someone who isnt that much of a germaphobe. The stuffed animals downstairs were gross, pilled and old-looking. Most of the toys and play things were old or didnt work properly (the bubble contraption didnt even work). The air table upstairs was missing half its tubes and the little balls it came with were crushed and some of them missing. The game table upstairs had an out of order sign on it. The majority of the workers were huddled into the little office downstairs, but the one girl who was walking around and cleaning the exhibits looked genuinely annoyed that the kids were playing and making a mess, huffing and puffing as she picked up items. The cushioned chairs that adults could sit in had stains on them....what type of stains, I dont want to know (I did see a woman changing her baby on the one chair upstairs..so that could be a clue...). The place had a dirty, musty odor to it.Give me a break. Wont be back.
Was here for a birthday party. What a cool place here in Saratoga for kids. Highly underrated. Make sure you bring your patience if youre a parent...it can get busy and a bit loud, but the kids love it!
Great place to bring kids. A lot of things for kids to do, build, take apart, and learn.
If your kid is into dress up & imaginative play then theyll love it. But for a 2 yr old it was a waste of $24. Their kiddie room was dirty and the toys looked dirty. Floor mat has not been washed in some time.
Great for a few hours, of kds play. We go every blue moon when we have the time and it never fails to delight my child.
The museum is perfect for young children. They can roam around and interact with all the different rooms.
Our granddaughter loved playing here, and we certainly enjoyed watching her play!
Brought my grand kids here with my daughter who has a year pass because it was too cold to play outside. This place was great for that and my grand kids and I had a great time.
Great interactive activities! Your kids can blow off a load of energy while learning! Also a fantastic place for birthday parties!
Good to bring the kids but a bit crowded, on the smaller side, but still fun for the kids
The kids have fun but I do think its absurd that adults have to pay to get in.
Took our 9 and 11 yr old, it was not the place for them. Infant to 5 I would recommend
A little small but still fun. Parking is easy on site.
Ok play stations. Not very well maintained. Kind staff. A bit disappointing
Very special place to take the kids. Where play meets learning. Specializing in early cognitive development through play with lots of exhibits.
Educational and a place for young children to go
Best for toddlers. Kindergartners and beyond are likely to grow bored of this place rather quickly.disappointed at the size of the place and the offerings when compared to the price of admission. The workers stayed huddled around the admissions desk and did little else.I think the discovery center in Binghamton, the science center in Ithaca, and other childrens museums in that circuit have set my bar a little higher than what this place has to offer. Cozy, quaint, and somewhat thoughtful... however in the end it fails to deliver for the price.
Absolutely worth every penny!
Germ pit. Its far from a museum, its an indoor play set. Staff is lovely. Just change the name
Great place to take your kid(s). Lots to do and explore. Fun and educational.
Not as big as Id hoped. The things seem old and need an upgrade. But staff was friendly
Just do it. Fantastic for pre-schoolers and K to 3.
Nice place but it is very small. You can get through it pretty quickly.
Great fun for the little one.
Perfect spot if you have young kids
Small but the activities are interactive. My 3 year has been asking me to take her there again. We will certainly go again.
Great place to take kids for the day. Lots of fun stuff to play with, and learn from.
Okay for small kids (3-5 yrs). Price could be better. Only takes about an hour to tour through.
Meh... nothing crazy, just a big house with a bunch of kids toys in it
Great little museum with enough to entertain the kids for a couple hours. We especially like the upper pretend play areas like the diner and animal hospital.
A lot of fun kids enjoy and use to their imagination
We brought our 2 daughters here, ages 4 and 18 months. This place is 2 floors of amazing fun for kids. The kids had so much fun here that they forgot they also learned as much as they did.
This childrens museum is fantastic. I highly recommend this place to any parent with young children.
Best for toddlers up to 4 years old, our 5 year old didnt get much out of it. Its not very well maintained. Broken toys, missing parts, dead batteries.
