Great museum. Lots of information but not overwhelming. Make time to see all the displays. The movie was amazing but only 16 minutes long.
Wonderful facility sure to meet the curiosity of casual fans to the pilgrimage of the most passionate and astute thoroughbred aficionados. Great art, sculptures, historical race trophies, videos and hands on displays, not to mention the Racing Hall of Fame. The life size starting gate is my personal favorite. The Museum offers hours of enjoyment to anyone who has an affection for The Horse.
I have no interest in horse racing, but after visiting this Museum during their kids day I must say I am very impressed! The museum is bright and cheerful, with attractive exhibits that are of interest to kids and adults alike. The buildings architecture assists with the enjoyment of the exhibits. There is an entire kids area devoted to horseplay, so to speak :-) but there are also dedicated days where kids visit for free, they have crafts and snacks, and you can even meet a real life horse! I enjoyed my time here and will be visiting again.
My first time here, after going to The Spa since I was a kid. Visits are set by appointment, due to Covid. But, it gives you plenty of space to enjoy the place. Staff was very helpful, and the gift shop was nice. It was a nice lesson on the history of horse racing, with a modern twist, and you can look up info on any Hall of Fame inductee.
The museum had plenty of off-street parking and is easily accessible. Its a beautiful place - very spacious and well-maintained. There are a lot of historical items to see and a lot of neat things, like the starting gate and a real-life display of the layers of a racetrack. Its also right across the street from Saratoga Racetrack, so its very convenient.
Due to Covid there wasnt a guided tour, the ticket was expensive and book store not furnished .
The new Hall of Fame (and the movie) is great! Dont miss it!
Whether you are a horse racing fan or not, a stop at this museum and Hall of Fame is a must if you are visiting Saratoga Springs, NY. If you are downtown, drop by the Visitors Centre and pick up a free pass to the museum. Otherwise entry was pretty reasonable.Within you will see bronze sculptures of the most famous race horses (including Secretariat and Seabiscuit). History on the trainers, jockeys and the sport of horse racing. There are banners for each Triple Crown winner and trophies of famous races throughout the US.Search the lineage of famous racehorses or even ride on a simulated race horse (check out the photos). Jockeys have said, its a fairly authentic ride!I thoroughly enjoyed my leisure walk through the museum but my favorite part were all the jockeys out front.Just a block from the Saratoga Racetrack, youll love this small but interesting museum.
Great exhibits and a cool place to pass a hot afternoon. Loved all the interactive exhibits.
Fantastic museum! Covers horse racing history in the US and recent horse racing notables (horses and jockeys). Its a well designed and recently updated museum. Very pleasantly laid out and worth a visit for 2 to 4 hours depending on your level of interest. Just across the street is the oldest horse race track in the US - visit both!
I love this place!!! Beautiful paintings, loads of history. A must see when visiting Saratoga.
Not much of a horse racing person, but excellent displays make the museum really tell the story of horse racing in the U.S.
Great for the racing fan, good to go on a rainy day
Horse-nut heaven. I need more time there. Its big, wonderfully storied and historical legends everywhere you look. Well displayed history panels, exciting equine artwork EVERYWHERE! Dont let me near the gift store...well too late for that. Guess its a good thing for the back seat of my station wagon they dont have any real ponies for sale or adoption there. (Then again, I didnt have enough time on this particular trip to see the outdoor barn areas.)
This place was wonderful. Great exhibits! Friendly staff was able to answer all of my questions.
Great museum..not too big, not too small
Nice place, we were there for the Horsing Around with the Arts Awards Ceremony, it was a nice time. There are a lot of racing artifacts, a bunch of beautiful awards and accolades, as well as life size examples and picture opportunities. There is also a kids play room, so they can appreciate the racing lifestyle and how to take care of horses and have fun.
The history of thoroughbred racing in America. Beautifully laid out for any age. A great place.
Better I than I thought it would be. Learned a lot.
The museum is wonderful. A lot of history. I went on a tour with Tom Durkin. That was a lot of fun. Check it out.
The National Museum of Racing has the history from the beginning and the photos and the portraits its truly amazing. Anyone whos interested in racing to come without a doubt welcome to Saratoga Springs New York
Women in Racing exhibit is awesome. A must see. The museum is a very classy and wonderful place
Well worth a visit even if not a horse racing enthusiast. Very well done museum.
Very cool and interesting place to stop for horse people and even non horse people! The staff was VERY friendly and helpful and we stayed for a while to talk with the lady that was there. She even gave us tips for coming back when the track was open for the season.
Considering Saratoga is the summer place to be why not enjoy a day at the Racing Hall of Fame? Lots of interesting things to see or listen to which makes you feel apart of the past when racing was the Sport of Kings!
Best pizza, very bad waiting lines. It so since decades. The pizza, exquisite. The queuing, very unpleasant.
Take the Oklahoma tour. Bob Giordono (sp) was terrific. What a great man. He made my day! Join the museum!
Beautiful experience. Friendly staff! They also have a childrens horse play area.
Absolutely beautiful Museum, attended a childrens event with my grandchildren, we all learned so much about the history of racing and the amazing beauty of horses. Cant wait to go visit again.
Very educational on the history of horse racing. The hall of fame area was impressive to witness in person. Very well worth the price of admission
If you are a horse racing fan you must stop by there. Lots of great history.
I have never been but to have a HOF without Dale Baird in it tells me is no HOF at all. Dale Baird is the greatest horse trainer off all time. He simply is the one and only GOAT.
If youre into racing you will be very satisfied with going to is museum. I am not into horse racing but I went because why not. To me it was interest I found some horses that caught my eye. There is also a horse simulator that reenacts the actual horse racing experience (I believe the cost is 10$ to ride the horse).
Outstanding museum dedicated to the history of Thoroughbred racing in the United States!
Thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the history of racing as a sport. Didnt know there was a Hall of Fame but there are some great stories.
Very nice museum
Nice to stop for a break to use the restroom with super cold sir conditioning on a hot ot day
This was such a great place to visit especially in off-season the staff was so friendly and kind we really enjoyed ourself
Very interesting and great museum. I do not know much about horse racing but my husband is a big fan of it and we both really enjoyed our time at the museum. I found the history and the displays to be interesting and I could tell my husband was having a good time sharing what he knew about some of the horses with me. Whether youre a huge horse racing enthusiast or not, I would recommend going.
If you follow racing, this is a must see. All the history of racing is presented in various formats. Informative staff besides. Very nice gift shop to buy something to take home as a remembrance of this awesome place.
Especially enjoyed the interactive exhibits and watching video of Man OWar racing. Theres a great exhibit for kids, but definitely come back without them so you can take your time and really look at everything. I found surprises at every turn! So glad I went!
History and horses. It is not just limited to the Saratoga race course it covers all of horse racing history. Well worth the stop if you are just visiting town. I live here and have been many times. Keep finding new experiences every time.
Real well done. A must for all racing fans.
Ok place if you are into horse racing. Went there for an event and could not hear others talking due to echoing, it was so loud
Interactive exhibit near the Hall of Fame lets you select recent Breeders Cup races/winners and watch the race!Otherwise, a lot of fun and interesting facts for racehorse lovers!
So much cool things to see! The mechanical horse is awesome!
Delightfully place just not for gamblers but for true horse lovers and young riders ! My granddaughter was thrilled to see the horses in the paddlock, greatest track I think anywhere gracefully beautifully poetic to say the least I must go too!!
A true gem! The simulated race horse experience is such an amazing and fun addition to an already wonderful museum.
Must stop if in Saratoga, the history, art and magic of Thoroughbred horse racing. Many exhibits, movies, starting gate and ride simulator if you want to see and feel what a jockey experiences during a race. Give yourself 2 hours and soak it in.

Great place to visit, alot more information than I thought there would be. Well worth the price of admission. Gift shop was disappointing, but not a deal breaker.
Was able to meet and talk to my favorite jockey, Javier castillano, got his autograph and poster. Great exhibit about horse racing!

Hallowed halls. History breathing all around.
