Nice quiet hike. Not many people midday-Thursday.
Amazing hike with a nice view and fishies.
My friend and I hiked here from UCSC and it well worth the hike it’s really relaxing and quite. There’s fish food hidden in a tree next to the pond with is nice because it’s the only other food for the koi besides the algae. Close by bellow the koi pond is a sample but nice Buddha shrine. I’d recommend any students with a day off to come and check it out :)
Beautiful zen place up at UCSC
Pretty pond with koi, a bit off the path but a pleasant surprise nonetheless, worth visiting if you’re on campus or around here. It’s pretty muddy for a while after it rains so keep that in mind when choosing footwear for this.
The best place Ive discovered near UCSC campus so far. Its only a short, easy walk from the road by campus and it has tons of amazing things to see (be prepared for mud though) . You can follow the spring from where it comes above ground to the koi pond itself (complete with ~15 large goldfish) down the steep hillside. There are all sorts of cool lime deposits from the spring and it goes above and below ground frequently which is cool to see. The water flowing creates a very nice sound and there are many places around to sit and relax. Also make sure to check out the old growth redwood tree right next to the pond!
Surprising to see koi in the middle of the wood. Please respect this place. Calm and beautiful spring among redwoods
Beautiful!! No koi fish though just little fish.
So amazing
I went out here to see these fish. walked super far out into the woods which was hard cuz im that type of fat where your legs are skinny and weak and i can barely carry myself. I walked all the way out of there, right. my mom packed me a sandwich but i got winded and sad and ate it within sight of the parking lot. which really bummed me out.but back to the review. I get to this pond thing right. had to shimmy down this cliff like sam and frodo (not those hairy dwarfs from the land of the wrings or whatever. im talking about my two friends who are goats (and i dont mean greatest of all time. i mean they are literal goats so cliffs are one of there William Forte)to the point: i got there and i couldnt see any of these coy boys and not koi like the fish but coy like the mindset.tasted pretty good too
Beautiful little gem.
