Had an amazing experience renting suits and boards from Santa Barbara Surf School. They were very covid safe and had awesome customer service. Elias gave us a lesson and every single one of us was able to catch a wave! Definitely recommend a lesson with him if you get the chance.

It was a great experience. My instructor was Daniel was very professional and taught me pop up technique and i was able to stand up pretty quickly on my board. Surfing takes a lot of energy and i was pretty tired.

We had a great lesson. My 3 kids had never surfed and Jimmy/Makenna were amazing. Kids had fun, all figured out how to get up and ride, we could not be more pleased.

Nick was awesome. He was very helpful to me and my family. We all had a blast and ended up catching several waves. Thank you, well be back.

My 9yo son and I had a great time with instructor Nick on our beginner surfing experience this afternoon! Nick is extremely patient, and did a great job teaching us the ropes, safety rules and etiquette, while keeping both of us motivated and energized for our first time on the waves. The private lessons also helped us make progress at our own pace. We cant wait to be back!

We have had four fantastic surf lessons with Nick and Ally from Santa Barbara Surf School. They managed to get us, complete novices, up and surfing, even from the first wave! The instructors are incredibly professional and competent. In spite of our lack of experience, we felt confident getting the water and trying something totally new. Now we are hooked! My friends and I had a morning 9am lesson with Jimmy and we had a fantastic time! The lesson came included with the wetsuit and board rental. He was a very detailed instructor and taught us each of the steps to surfing and gave constructive feedback on how we could improve each time. He also taught us the social etiquette of surfing, how to identify and catch waves on our own, and gave amazing recommendations for surf spots throughout California and nearby coffee. Would highly recommend lessons with Jimmy and the Santa Barbara Surf School.

Got a 90min lesson from Piper and it was fantastic. He had me in the water in the first 5min and up on my first wave in 10. Highly recommend and might do it again with my daughter since the waves and instruction at Mondo beach were so great.

My husband and I had a private lesson with Piper at Mondos Beach. It was our first time surfing and we had a blast. We both caught a few waves and were able to ride them for a while. Piper was great at instructing and giving us tips throughout the entire 90 minutes. We would definitely do this again and highly recommend Piper at Santa Barbara Surf School.

The best afternoon with Hali. I had never surfed before, she explained everything extremely clearly and we were in the water so fast. I stood up on my first wave, it was magical. Every time I failed, she’d be so kind about it and give me great advice for the next time. And every time it worked! I had fun whilst also challenging myself to learning something new. Do it, go in the water with these guys, and if you can, ask for Hali as your guide!

We had a great time having surf lessons from Santa Barbara Surf School. Ally and Ryan, our instructors, were both amazing! We had a group of 6 and with the two instructors we felt very well taken care of. With the safety and basic instruction on the shore we felt well prepared to head into the water. Once we were in the water, Ally and Ryan kept encouraging and teaching each of us as we tried surfing for the first time. They were great instructors and all of us were standing up within the first wave or two. It was a fun and memorable experience for our entire family.

It’s our first time paddle boarding. Chunk and Brody were super patiently showing us everything we need from a beginner’s level and had met every requirement we had. They even took some photos for us in the ocean. By the end of the session, everyone in the group was comfortable on the board, and we had a long journey around the beach. We had an awesome 2-hour experience learning a new sport with awesome instructors and enjoying the view around Santa Barbara harbor. Highly recommend!

We can not express how amazing of an experience we had with the Santa Barbara Surf School and our instructor Jesse! My husband and I have never surfed before and Jesse had us surfing by the end of our lesson! We highly recommend adding an additional 30 minutes, as that is when we truly began to stand and ride the waves. The location at Mondo Beach was great and the instructors were all friendly. We had such a great time and highly recommend!

Ally was awesome!! She was super positive and encouraging with our two kids who have only been on a board a few times. She was also helpful for us (Mom and Dad)! She went above and beyond, was super patient and helpful, and we all just had a blast! We look forward to coming back : )

What an amazing day! So much fun surfing, a truly beautiful beach and scenery, and amazing staff. Piper was a great guide - fun, easy going, and very instructive. We spent the full 90 minutes and were flying on waves the whole time!

Ally was a wonderful guide for our kayaking tour! She was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Ally showed us fascinating marine life - sea lions, sea stars and we even saw a whale! She really cares about making her clients feel comfortable and happy. I definitely recommend her.

Griffin was a great instructor for our first time surfing. He was chill and low key which made us feel very comfortable approaching the lesson. Would highly highly recommend! This beach was the perfect place to learn as there were long mellow waves.

Ally was incredible! We had a two-person private lesson, and she was attentive and supportive through and through. She gave me an awesome first experience surfing, and we cant thank her enough. Customer service all around is incredible too -- the instructors were slightly late, but made up for it by extending our lesson to ensure we had our full 1.5 hours. Great with communication through all steps of the process. Will be recommending!

If there was 10 stars option I wouldve defiantly gave them 10 stars. What a great deal and really nice and friendly staff! I took my 2 kids for serving and we had a blast! There was a instructor name Ibrahim and he was super nice. We had 1.5 hour amazing time with him he even gave me one of their surf for free to enjoy with them. Also, he got our dog Bela enjoy surfing. What a great people. I would totally recommend them.

I had a fantastic experience with my instructor, Ally! It was my first time surfing and Ally was great at teaching my sister and I to surf safely and have fun while doing it. Ally swam by our side the entire time and talked us through what waves to catch, when to start paddling, how to prop ourselves up, and how to improve our form. Ally was uplifting, energetic, positive, and supportive and helped us have a totally stress-free fun time. Ally was our hype person the entire time even when we would fall off she would be patient and help us try again. We chatted a lot about her woodworking projects, college plans, and all the cool places she has surfed. I highly recommended booking a surf session with Ally! 1000/10 :)

I had a blast learning to surf with the Santa Barbara Surf School! Everyone heres professional, easygoing and most importantly, knowledgeable. Daniella was a great instructor. Highly recommend. She checked in at the start of the lesson what skills I wanted to work on then focused on that during the lesson. Provided constructive feedback and got me on a ton of waves.

My daughter had the opportunity to learn surfing for the 1st time with Ally and she had SO MUCH FUN and ENJOYED the 1.5 hours session. She said if she has more time, she will continue to surf. Thank you Ally for making my daughters 13th birthday so special.

I took my first ever surfing lesson with Abe Samucio and I can not stress out how impressed I was with his skills, kindness, patience and knowledge. At first I did not expect much from it at all, I signed up out of curiosity but Abes guidance and patience made me fall in love with surfing. He was very patient and in my late forties that is exactly what I needed when I fist hopped on a surfboard. Whenever I made wrong move he did not make me feel bad about it but kept encouraging me. And by the end of the lesson I managed to stand up on a surfboard only thanks to him. Also while he was giving me the lesson there were some kids nearby that kept shouting that he was the best teacher ever. That made me smile because they were really excited about him and we all know that kids are very honest. Thank Abe.

Great communication and when the location of our lesson changed due to conditions, not only did they email the change, they also followed that up with a call to make sure we were in the loop. Our two daughters loved their instructor, Ally. We saw so much improvement from both of them during their lesson and they lovedhow Ally cheered them on and high fived them every time they got up. She said it’s because she is so proud of her students.

I recommend 100%! I went surfing for my first time and Ibrahim, my instructor was so helpful and kind. He helped me with my form and taught me everything I needed to know. It was awesome! I had a 1 and a half hour session with him and I got to rent the board and suit for that afternoon too.

Had my first surf lesson with them today. It was amazing! Our instructors were super helpful and knew what they were doing. Fun people too! One of the instructors, Ally, was super helpful and supportive and very easy to talk with. She helped me shake off the rust from the past couple years!

My instructor Jimmy was very helpful, he payed attention to want i was doing so that he could help me fix whatever i was struggling with. He was fun to be around and always encouraged me to keep going. I 10/10 recommend.

What a great experience! We started our morning with a call from our instructor, Ally, who had scouted the beaches and found the perfect one for us. She gave us the new directions with plenty of notice. My son and I met Ally and she ran through the itinerary and answered all our questions. Our guide Ally was very friendly and took us on an awesome tour of the Santa Barbara marina and Stearns Wharf by kayak. We saw marine life up close including sea lions on the channel buoy. Ally is knowledgeable on the geology as well as the cultural history of the area which added to the experience. Thanks!

This was my second lesson with SBSS! They were always in touch with me email and texts. Updated me on changes and replied right away to an email question. The first we had was with William (great instructor) and this one was with Ally. She was awesome, She was friendly, very knowledgeable. At the beginning of our lesson, she gave us safety and surfing basics on the beach before we went out to the water. She was super helpful giving us tips and ideas when we were surfing. All the instructors were friendly and always willing to go out of their way for me. I will definitely take lessons here again.

My instructor made it so easy and fun to get right up on the first wave and keep catching waves all morning! I built up my confidence and learned a few tips and tricks as he would give me advice between rides. Very laid back yet professional, I felt right at home and can’t wait to go surfing again!

I signed up for lessons on a whim when my husband decided to rent a board. As someone who is very cautious and not very coordinated I appreciated how patient and positive my instructor Max was. These guys were awesome! My boyfriend(24) & I(24) had Nick as our instructor & he got us out in the ocean quickly after the safety rundown. He was able to call out all the best waves and we were standing and surfing in no time. We had such a great experience & recommend SBSS to anyone wanting to try surfing for the first time!

Our kids loved the 3 days course from Ryan and Allie. Because of the small group and the good instructions they were able to stand on their board on the first day! Also they really liked the kayaking and body boarding. We are definitely coming back!

My very first experience on a surfboard couldn’t have gotten any better with Brody! He’s a super cool guy and explained everything so well. I was a little nervous to start out but everyone I spoke to regarding the lesson was happy to help and I got up on the board way sooner then I expected to! Our teenage granddaughters came to visit us in Santa Barbara and, with a little coaxing, decided to try a surf lesson. I signed them up online the afternoon before and quickly received confirmation of our requested lesson time along with driving directions to the local beach with the best waves for their upcoming lessons. When we arrived at the beach, we couldn’t miss the Santa Barbara Surf School truck, and Jimmy was right there to greet us with a welcoming smile and all of the equipment the girls would need. The equipment appeared to be on the new side, popular brands, and very clean. The girls learned quickly from Jimmy, and surprised themselves when they were able to catch many waves and even ride a number of waves in the proper standing position. Jimmy was very attentive and focused on making sure that the girls left with proper surfing skills, and an eye for catching a good wave, and a new love and appreciation for surfing. While they were exhausted and a bit sore after their lesson, they had a ton of fun and felt that the time passed too quickly, so they signed up for a second lesson with Jimmy the following day, which they equally enjoyed. We had a great private lesson with Abe and Ally. Although I was skeptical that my 40 year old body could keep up with my 7 and 9 year olds, they had all three of us riding in no time. The only downside is my kids are now demanding we move to the beach and buy them surf boards and wet suits. Great experience for all!

I come to town last week to go kayaking and ally helped me into the water and gave me a little lesson before i went out. Nice seeing them Sanatize too as a war vetrean, it very hard for me to communicate with people, but Ally made me feel like home, safe and she asked me for what I want first than she took rhe time to explain more than once everything clearly to me.
