This is a great place for the kids because everything is hands on for them and you. Its three stories of fun, and the view from the roof is amazing! So if you are there with kids or without, the beach, pier, food and wine are just in walking distance from museums entrance.

I dont know who had more fun here, me or the class is 4th graders I was with. First class operation. Lots of great have on exhibits for kids to learn about concepts in fun real world way. Highlights were the pneumatic pipes and the studio on the ground level. Second level the main attraction was the slot car racing. Build your own race car and see how it stands up to others. Then on third floor there was an aquatic exhibit where the flow could be manipulated by levers. Kids and water, no wonder this was so popular.

The museum was very fun for families. I think its most engaging for kids ages 4-12, my son is nearly 11 and we had a blast! Tons of hands on exhibits, and at least when we went there were more exhibits than people so there was a nice flow that allowed us to enjoy each one without feeling crowded or rushed. There was a lot to do and the fun didnt end or even pause a moment the time we spent there. Oh and the rooftop, my goodness! The views!! There were fun scopes to look through at the breathtaking views. It was overwhelmingly beautiful! My only warning/complaint/suggestion is that parking is a huge struggle. We ended up only finding 90 minute parking that was a few blocks walking, though we wouldve much rather spent another hour or so but it wouldve been too much struggle because of parking.

1st time visitor; from the outside it does not look that big or impressive if you cimpare it to the Tech museum in downtown San Jose. We were thinking perhaps just spend an hour here. But we end up spending 4+ hours here with our 8 year old. It was very interactive and the exibit is very unique. The staff on the floor were all very friendly and willing to help. Some of these exibits are problem solving types where the whole family including grandparents can participate to see who can build the fastest wooden car. We totally have an awesome experience at Moxi, definitely worth the visit for hours of fun and creative learning + some problem solving.(family bonding) Park at the Amtrak train station which is safe and very affordable. The 1st 75min is free. Every 1 hour after is only $1.50. We park there and walk to Moxi and walk to the pier and beach afterwards.

I got to experience the Moxi museum during a work event for Honda! I would definitely suggest a visit to this place– or booking it for your private event! They have amazing interactive displays like a giant color mixing machine displayed in the foyer, huge customizable light bright wall, plastic engraver and cutter... and my personal favorite, the race track! The upstairs-located wood car race track allows users to build different types and shapes of cars, adjust the track ramps inclines, and track speed against multiple players!

We have been to many childrens museums and this one is by far our favorite! Affordable entrance costs and if we were staying in town longer we would have bought a year pass. The exhibit from Berkeley was very interesting and the kids loved making there own music. Its definitely fun for the whole family and we could have stayed all day. The only thing I would have loved is if they had a picnic area for lunch and maybe coffee for all the parents . We will definitely be back!!

Nice museum in a beautiful area. The exhibits were pretty fun and kept the kids entertained. My only complaint is that there isn’t enough signage telling you what you’re supposed to do, what you’re supposed to be learning, just explaining the ‘science’ of it. But, they have a lot for the kids to check out and play with, and it’s all very new and modern. Just a really beautiful setting and experience. Be sure to get ice cream across the street afterwards.

Ther is a project room, music, motion, outdoor exploration space, and they rotate exhibits so we always find something new for the kids to enjoy. I highly suggest investing in a membership. A fun, interactive museum for kids (I think best for at least 3 years and up). If you like science and have kids, come check it out. The only down-side is that a lot of the equipment is worn out or missing. For example, the exhibit with the wind columns, has very few parachutes. Kids are always fighting for the limited parachutes. They used to have more, but they disappeared/were lost/were worn out and the museum never replaced them. I have been several times, and this is still the case.

My 14 year old daughter and I visited. We have a really big science center in our home town that she has been to many times, so shes not really excited to go there anymore. Given that my expectations were low; the MOXI is not very big. Im a teacher so I always look for ideas of things to do with my class. She did willingly go with me. She had a lot of fun and was really glad we went! There were so many things she had fun with! One of her favorites was the booth you go into then create the sound effects to go with a movie clip. I may try to figure out some way to do that with my class. The water configuration in the roof was really cool, too. It teaches kids about cause and effect and how simple machines work. She raced a car she made a few times. I really want one of those at my school or in my class! There were many people there, but it was not crowded, so we got to do most things without waiting.

Very disappointing. Suitable for children 7 and under for curiosity play and potentially for children who are part of a guided group. Most of the activities had no explanations of the science behind them to guide understanding and further exploration. The place was chaotic - in spite of having tickets for timed entry. Youngsters were allowed to take things indiscriminately from the hands of other children - there was a complete lack of oversight from venue staff and conspicuously absent parents or school guides. For the most part it appears to be a playground of oversized toys that fails to offer input, insight, or direction to further scientific curiosity. There were fun activities, to be sure - and the very young (3-7) appeared to be enjoying themselves, but I did not bring my 12 year old grandson here merely to play on a large mechanical playground. I was hoping for scientific stimulation and something to captivate the imagination.

Visited the MOXI for the first time last week. My daughter will be 3 in a month. She was free to enter since she was under three years old. She had an incredible time. There is a wide variety of engaging activities for all age levels. Everything is this building seems designed and created for little hands to touch, play with, and explore. Exhibits also range from building blocks to two story interactive designs. Even though this was our first visit, we overheard other families talking about how exhibits were new. This leads me to believe they change out certain activities are structures periodically. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and our time spent here. We will be back as frequently as we can. This is one of the most unique science museums I have ever visited! I love how different and original this place is compared to other children’s museums. Most places try to explain a lot of the technical science behind each of their exhibits.
