Wow! You gotta do this!!My wife and I went to the Lyon Air Museum and stumbled across these folks. Never thought Id be flying a plane when I got up this morning.Their staff are wonderful. Rocket explained everything so clearly it made the experience so much better. Tiny is a great instructor, made my first time ever flying a plane easy and so much fun.Come fly with them soon!!
Gone twice - once for combat, once for aerobatics - and I wish Google allowed a 6th star in these rare moments. Undoubtedly one of the most rewarding moments in my life was in the cockpit of the Marchetti with Navy Super Hornet pilot Mini, pictured below. As a Hornet enthusiast myself, he was willing to explain to me details of his experience in the Hornet, as well as employment of combat tactics in the Marchetti, and aerobatic maneuvers during the aerobatic session, as we flew above the beautiful skies and along the naturally gorgeous coast of Long Beach. Mini is not only a great pilot, but an excellent and sensible teacher, and not the least a good friend. As I sit in my hotel room, with post-trip blues, I can still sense the Gs pushing my body into the chair, much like when you step off a ship and still feel the ground rocking from side to side. Simulators have forever changed for me, as I can now relate the simulated Gs into those Ive felt numerous times by the side of Mini in the Marchetti.Thank you so much for the fantastic service and experience to Mini, Rocket and V-dawg.
So great! Today was my first time going here. and everything goes great. Prices are worth to pay for.
Amazing experience! From my initial call through booking, everyone was extremely kind, professional, and accommodating to make sure I got the best time slot and had an opponent to fly against. The day of flying was also great. The briefing was a thorough mix of safety procedure and basic air combat theory. Our pilots were great instructors and ensured that we had a great air combat experience.Im looking forward to my next opportunity to fly again with them!
This was definitely an exhilarating experience for me. Having never flown a plane before, it was it was a blast taking over the controls and pushing the plane to the limits. I did find out that the plane wasnt the weak link. =)The pilots we were with were very down to earth and made the experience really fun. My coworkers did not believe that it was possible to do something like this. The videos were very helpful to convince them. This is something I will definitely do again!
My nephew and I flew in from Louisiana to experience Air Combat USA! Our experience was Phenomenal! They definitely exceeded our expectations. Mike and Veronica worked to find a date for the flights and even provided a video of our combat flights. Without reservation, I recommend Air Combat USA.
Im an old guy 77 that wanted to fly a small plane. Air Combat USA staff anticipated all my the needs - they even had to lift me into the cockpit. Once seated, I felt like I was back in my Jag XKE. Everything was carefully explained. I had the stick most of the time (except for loops and rolls). The little Marchetti trainer was a perfect choice. An amazing experience.
Flew in MI, one of best experience I had, the pilots were friendly and made me feel comfortable. The whole unique experience of chasing another plane just gives unimaginable thrill.Definitely worth it if you can afford it!!
Bought the groupon for a trip to Catalina island. Best trip ever! Mike is a great pilot! Smooth flight and beautiful views.Still waiting for them to have it again. I would buy it again! The yellow bi-plane ride was awesome!
The best fun I have ever had. ...Ever!!!We were just outside of Chicago. My instructor was call sign Worm and we flew against a guy from Chicago and his instructors call sign was Bludo . We were everywhere in the sky...flipping inverted, pulling 3+ Gs. WHAT A GAS!!!Honestly I feel the only way to top this is to do it again.Best Birthday present EVER! Thank you Sweetie
Hands down the best thing I have ever experienced in my life. I had zero fling experience before the flight and felt 100% safe. The pilots are very easy to talk to and make you feel at ease. My friends and I are already planning a trip for next year.
DO NOT FLY WITH THIS COMPANY. They canceled flights paid months in advance under the guise of aircraft that required a little TLC to remain airworthy and the need to hire and train new pilots. Hire and train new pilots? Yes, all previous pilots quit when the company changed hands but the money I had paid was gone. Shady place, shady people, do not fly with them. One star because there is no negative star option
I purchased a gift of a flight for two for my husband for Christmas 2015. We scheduled the flight for October 2016 in Fort Worth. My husband had a heart attack and bypass surgery in August of 2016. I called and spoke to Mike and explained our situation. He explained that his father had passed away and that he had just taken over the company. He agreed over the phone to a FULL refund and asked if he could give me half now and the second half in 6 months. He said that if I emailed him a copy of my receipt that he would put the details of the refund in an email back to me. Being the compassionate person that I am, I agreed and I sent him a copy of the receipt but I never received a reply. Im sure he was going through a rough time himself so I tried to be patient. I still have not received the refund that he promised. I emailed numerous times and numerous individuals at the company. I also called numerous times but either couldnt get anyone to answer the phone or couldnt get anyone who could answer questions about my refund. Ive contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge but they said there isnt anything that they can do since the company never mentioned how much of a refund they would give in any of the emails. My husband was out of work and wasnt getting a paycheck for quite a while and we have medical bills. We can not afford to lose $2090.00 plus interest paid. Im in tears and am so disappointed and feel so taken advantage of. Youve definitely reminded me of why I shouldnt trust others. You really should re-evaluate your ethics. Dont make promises if you dont intend to keep them. We would really like the FULL refund that you promised.
I had a fantastic flight yesterday. Thanks Rocket and Mini.
This is one of the best things you can do in LA and in your life.unfortunately they are booking 1 month in advance which is wayyy too much
My God - what a trip! I had the most fun 95% of the time - the pulling gs was a bit scary (5%). My sister and I got to Marshfield, MA early, so attended the briefing with the two men who were to go next. Got to talk to flyers, instructors and everyone was so enthusiastic that I couldnt help feeling calm. It was a beautiful day, and flying over the ocean was a treat as well. I have NEVER done anything like this and Im so glad I had the chutzpah to do it. Im a celebrity in my little home town!
When my son bought the flight at a charity golf auction, I was just going along for the trip to Fullerton. Once there, weather was perfect, blue skies, little wind so my son signed me up to combat against him. Well, I must say, I can write this experience off my bucket list. It was one of the most exhilarating adventures in my 60..hmhm years. I never thought of taking control of an airplane to air combat with my son. My pilot Ogie guided me with solid instructions to ensure I got my sons plane in range and smoking several times. I was ecstatic. Didnt get sick, but eating ginger before the flight might have helped. Definitely 1000 times better than Disneyland rides. Recommend it highly. Excellent preparation, instructions and a first class video to prove my son was superior, but mom was pretty good too.
I am a 125 hour student pilot and I thought the experience was OUTSTANDING! These pilots are total pros and they followed ATC procedures by the book. I always felt completely safe and the experience was the thrill of a lifetime. Dont pass it up! Its a total blast.
This was an experience of a life time! I have logged a couple hundred hours of GA flying but nothing like this. Rhon Spank my instructor was fabulous, short of takeoff and landing the Marchetti was mine. Definitely going to do this again!
It was an experience like no other.....a must do. my pilot was Rhon Spank and he was a true professional. Made you feel comfortable behind the controls and made the hole experience memorable and exciting. I highly recommend doing this atleast once. It was a thrill of a lifetime.
Im one of four former Army helicopter pilot classmates that flew together in Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia a long time ago. One of our group passed away not long ago after battling demons for years, but the other three of us fortunately are still here. The three of us joined the Army Guard, finished college, went to Air Force Pilot Training via the Air National Guard from where we all later retired and ended up with airline careers; two from Allegheny Airlines/Piedmont/ Us Airways, and one from United Airlines. I had the bright idea to secure a flight from Air Combat USA as a retirement gift for one of my friends since they had a location in Atlanta where he lives. The business encountered some setbacks after the founder died and concentrated their flights on the west coast. My friend decided that after 45 years in the cockpit, and 25,000 plus hours, flying to Fullerton,CA to take another airplane ride didnt seem to make sense. I spoke to Mike Rocket Blackstone and was assured they would make good on a refund once things settled down out west. After reading the reviews of AEQUIS 310 and SACTOWN 23 it appears I was not the only one taken for a literal ride by these schlock artists. I received a dozen reasons, excuses actually, blah, blah blah, on why they have not made good on refunding peoples money. The Fullerton BBB should shut this place down if they continue to mislead people and not live up to their commitments. I guess any bozo can put on a flight suit, call himself a fighter pilot and give airplane rides. To sum up my experience with Air Combat USA, I am not happy. If you decide to take a chance with this outfit, gook luck, youre going to need it. You must select a star rating to be able to post your review, believe me they deserve none.
Purchased a package at the end of May. All communication cut off and they stopped taking calls. Months later, sporadic responses about flights being postponed. Refund requests for $1395 packages are not being honored. Forced to initiate a chargeback dispute with my credit card company. Civil lawsuit is next if Air Combat dares to dispute it.Beware and do not give your hard earned money to a company that will keep on postponing flights while essentially holding onto your money indefinitely.
Such an amazing experience if you are a thrill seeker this is something that you should try at least once in your life. You are in with ex military pilots so it was safe as well as exhilarating. I did my flight out of Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg FL over the Gulf of Mexico.
5 stars and 2 thumbs way up! Wow, what a thrill!I didnt think an experience like this was possible without donating years of my life to the air force and passing a battery of tests including perfect vision, catlike reflexes, resistance to airsickness and G-forces, etc. Not true! You can actually experience air combat at Air Combat USA. Only difference is they use lasers instead of bullets. What to expect? Youll receive about an hour of exciting instructions and flight briefing, put on a flight suit, helmet and parachute and then hop into the cockpit. Minutes later youll take off and it will be your turn to fly the plane to the designated combat zone. Once there its combat time. Youll practice maneuvering the plane and using the laser sight to target your opponent.I experienced over 4 times the force of gravity and found myself flying upside down on multiple occasions. It was such a blast. I love telling the story to my friends and family and highly recommend this experience to any thrill seekers. If youre lucky enough to get paired with Jad as your preflight instructor and Bluto as your copilot then you are assured to have a premier experience. My advice? Book your flight today and tell the story the rest of your life.
Amazing day of flying. What more could a guy ask for. Go, do it, get a video!
Very good experience .. i had amaizing time the poilt josef is so trained and professional i recommend any one to try it
Very rarely are your expectations exceeded these days. Combat USA however, blew me away! I have been a licensed pilot for 20 years and thought that the place would be full of guys with civilian only experience that have watched Top Gun a few hundred times and all we would do was a few basic aerobatic maneuvers to simulate the real thing…….not at all! The experience began with meeting the Combat USA pilots and my competitor. There were two of us that would be full-on dog fighting each other. The Combat USA pilots we were flying with were seasoned military vets turned airline pilots. One was former Navy and the other was former Air Force and the banter back and forward between them was hilarious and what you would expect when you put two different services in one room. We were escorted in the locker room and issued a flight suit, helmet, parachute and flotation device. Briefing began in a military looking briefing room and lasted about 20 minutes. The briefing pilots call-sign was Joker and he lived up to the handle. He was to be my pilot. It was actually a very interesting mix of real aviation ground school and combat techniques. After briefing was complete, we were escorted to the flight line by our pilot. The airplanes we flew were Marchetti jet-trainers painted in full military-like livery. Marchettis are fully aerobatic planes capable of about 9 gs. These are fitted out with a laser HUD targeting systems. We took off separately and soon met up in close formation. We flew out to Long Beach harbor and the fun began! The first two dog fights were canned in that each competitor got the sensation of getting the other guy in his gun sights and pulling the trigger. Once you hit the other guy, smoke bellows from the losers plane and you brake-off smartly to start another round. The instructor helps you with the first two and then its (mostly) up to you. I couldnt believe how real this is. You are aggressively going after the other guy doing loops, barrel rolls, negative g pushovers, whatever it takes to strafe the other guy. It was exhilarating and exhausting! I pulled 5.5 gs in one vertical maneuver and nearly greyed-out. Sensational!! I won 4 to 2. The other guy and I swapped email addresses and sent pictures to each other of our respective planes about 5 feet - wing-tip to wing-tip. Very cool!! What do you give the guy that has everything???? Combat USA!
