Cute Zoo to take the kids. Some of the attractions like the Ferris Wheel, Train, Playground & Carousel are currently closed due to Covid 19. However, you can still see the animals. There is plenty of shade and seating everywhere. They have a snack bar where you can buy water, drinks, Pizza, etc. My son loves to come here. They were also nice & extended our membership by 6 months since we purchased right before they closed due to the Pandemic. 100% Recommend.
Best place hands down! For everything. From just going to visit to having a party. All the staff is so knowledgeable. And the animals are there for reasons that need to known to the public. Just had my daughters 12th Birthday there and it was amazing.
Visited this zoo (11/29/20), thinking of train ride, ferris wheel and farm animals, since that is what my lil daughter was interested in. Only to find out, most of the attractions are closed, which is fine. But they have not mentioned it on their website and tricked us to drive almost 1hr one-way. Disappointed.
Its open again! My son and I had a blast today, there was hardly any people and we got to see all the monkeys! Everyone was wearing a mask and the zoo was set up in a one way loop. The food court was closed but the gift store was open, so naturally we got some dinosaurs. This is definitely a great place to come and get out of the house!
This is a small zoo. there are a few wow animals, but it is exactly what we mamas need for our little. I have been coming here for over 5yrs. with my fist and still to this today the enthusiasm and joy he gets of going to the zoo is still there. I have a new little and they now both enjoy our trip. its the perfect size. big enough to explore yet small enough to walk the entire zoo and have the energy to make it home and finish the day strong. ofcourse this makes a little more sense when you have young children. If your on the fence about it. just go, youll enjoy the nature walk.
One of the best ways to enjoy this fine little zoo is to plan ahead and figure out which animal youd like to meet. I did this for my boyfriend - as a surprise - and he just about wept with joy. We had a great visit with Newton, their tawny owl, followed by a sweet session with Savannah, one of their many fennec foxes.
I am giving it 4 because they really are making an effort to make a come back. They just seem to need more financial assistance to get the animals that extra care and habitat they deserve. Staff was immensely welcoming!
This is a nice little local zoo. Dont expect a bunch of really exotic animal like lions and tigers, but its great for little kids. Perfect speed for just wandering around for an hour or two on a nice day with the family.
Went for Boo at the Zoo with the kids. They had a blast, even if it was a lot more restrictive this year due to pandemic measures.
The zoo is undergoing lots of renovations so there werent many animals on display. The one way signs werent very visible or helpful when you did see them. We accidentally went on Veterans Day so it was crowded, but we could keep socially distanced. They also have plexiglass in front of some of the cages and that made the sun glare through them so you couldnt really see the animals. We were thinking of getting an annual pass since we have one for San Diego Zoo, but we decided one visit here was enough. Im sure it would be a nice place if all the animals were in their habitats, but rightly so they all need breaks away from staring eyes! One good thing, though, free parking right in front of the gates. Oh, and super easy to get to off the 22 fwy.
Santa Ana Zoo is super nice! One of them even took out one of the frogs from the reptile room to show my daughter. Its pretty small but its a cute little date spot or a spot to take your toddler to.
My kids and I love this zoo. And with social distancing, they zoo has taken great precautions. So happy that theyre open!
An interesting and small zoo. The animals are nice and well cared for, the staff are friendly. It will be interesting for both adults and children.
Its nice and shady, but kinda sad right now with over half of the exhibits closed and no rides. I got a pass anyway hoping they will add more soon, and just to have another place to go with my 1.5 yr old son outside of the house. Its nice that the pass lets me into OC and Big Bear zoos for free with half off LA Zoo also.
Love this perfect family oriented Zoo! Lots to see, variety of animals and not so large as to exhaust and overwhelm parents and children! Lol! Beautiful lush landscaping and charming winding walkways. Lots of benches and picnic areas too! Will be adopting an animal this year in my granddaughters name. Excellent activities, well, once this covid-19 is understood and hopefully controlled (?)...maybe I am dreaming, but one can hope! Regardless, a wonderful zoo to visit over and over again! Five-stars from me
Great quiet local zoo for fun day outdoors. This zoo is not as big as your typical city zoos, as long as you know that going in you wont be disappointed. The biggest animals are the camals and lammas. There are tons of monkeys, birds, smaller mammals and reptiles. Lots of picnic areas to eat or reserve for your party. There are some rides, but they cost as much as admission to the zoo, so be aware. Also, parking can fill up fast on the weekend, but you park on the street for free. We spent about 3 hours here.
I havent been here in a while, but this is a fun little zoo. Its pretty small but with a lot of animals packed into it. Its fairly inexpensive too.
What a gorgeous place to take a stroll. Although not as large as big names zoos, this quaint zoo features an assortment of animals. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Their map was easy to navigate. Pricing is fair considering this a small nonprofit educational facility. This place is definitely a treasure in the heart of Santa Ana. Its a great place to bring children and explore different animals, exhibits while learning about new creatures. You can really tell that the staff and zoo keepers really care about this place. Overall, great experience and great establishment.
Over 3/4 of the zoo is closed, not much to see other than birds when we visited. The cashier didnt tells us about areas being closed. When I spoke to the zoo manager the cashiers are suppose to be telling guest that the zoo is not fully operational as many things are closed, the manager was very sympathetic and submitted a reimbursed for us since we are out of state.
Enjoyed our day here. Great Price & Parking is Free. Some animals were not visible or active but its a zoo, not a circus. Well definitely make a return visit.
Very cute and staff is super friendly. Cant wait to bring my kids back post covid19 when the rides and other exhibits are open.
Excellent place, specially if u have littler kids... I have 2, one is 6 and the other one 2, they love this zoo... is a small place..
Very charming little zoo. We enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning.
Fun little zoo in the heart of Orange County. Great for a fun short adventure. We spent about two hours here. More time can be spent if the kids are more into the animals. There are a few pay to ride activities such as train ride, merry go round, and Ferris wheel
Today was the grand opening after being closed down due to the pandemic. If you have a small child be aware the playground equipment in Ferris wheel and carousel are not in operation right now. Neither was the snack bar. All of the shows and endure areas are closed. Basically it was the birds and monkeys and outdoor enclosures that were able to be viewed. It was very limited. I probably would not take my young son with me again until the place is fully operational to get the full experience. They are still charging full price to get in, which isnt much, and I still feel it was worth it to support our local Zoo
Nice Little Zoo to bring the Kids to. Employees are so welcoming and Nice they enjoy working there. My Kids and I had a a great time. We really enjoyed the rides as well.
We love taking our Granddaughter to this family friendly zoo.
A small zoo with a notable monkey collection...and the Taj Mahal of anteater exhibits (fitting to its location). Some attractions awaiting reopening in October 2020.
Went to this zooIt was ok. When compared to LA & San Diego zoo. Some animals were available.
Nice place to spend time in the weekend with the family around the neighbourhood. I loved the scenery and theyve got some nice collection of different animals
My 5 year old daughter loves it. Great to see the animals. I took a star off because the barn area is completely deserted barely any animals there
Great place to take the family; always something new to see. The animals come out at various times; so you may need to come back to see some of them.
Fun time its a cool place for all and take the time to see the show awsome animals
Cute little zoo! Super family friendly! They have a train ride and gift shop perfect for kids
Always have good experience and cheap good prices!
Santa Ana Zoo is a non profit that focuses on actual conservation and education as opposed to many zoos out there. They carry a high zoo rating and is very local and family friendly. Best known for their monkeys and their preservation efforts for many at risk species. The animals at the zoo are either conservation projects, rescued animals from exotic pet collectors or animals that cannot fend for themselves in the wild due to injury. Theyre a small community driven organization and have great deals on family passes.
Its a small zoo but well maintained. The highlight of my trip was the Amazon Bird Aviary. The zoo is very kid friendly.
Tried the food this time and we both loved it. Great park when the animals are active. Kiddo loved to play here regardless.
This last weekend was my First time ever going to the ZOO, Im so happy my family decided to go here at Santa Ana ZOO. I love the the animals specially the reptiles. I love the variety of animals and things to do. I love the Mid day show. The food is good and the ZOO is awesome. This was the best family trip ever.
Great place for the kids. And a nice area for get together or company functions. Many animals to see the was a bit of a pungent smell passing some of the cages but nothing too bad. Good time for the whole family.
The zoo is small but not bad for the fee. The restroon is impossible clean your hands no water.
The Santa Ana Zoo membership is great for the family. We frequented the place for the carousel and train ride. The kids loved it. The animals are great to visit and revisit because they always do something different.
Cozy little ZOO with a few rides: A train, carousel and a ferris wheel. Nice for a stroll with the family, however the diversity of animals is pretty limited.
Wow I couldnt believe how big this zoo is getting! They have lots of animals to see, you could spend all day or about three hours if you want to rush and see it all. They have rides for the kids, which do cost extra and a big play area. Play area doesnt cost extra. There are picnic tables. Great place to bring the kids to and its affordable!
Alot of things were closed (due to Covid) so there wasnt much to see just monkeys, 2 birds 2 camels, peacocks & lemurs.
Not enough animals really disappointed l think they keep the 300 some animals somewhere else not here saw probably 50 at most
We went on a field trip with my sons school WE LOVED IT!! We will be back with the family very soon
Small but perfect for a little family outing.
Area wise its a very small zoo. Average collection of animals. This place is always maintained neat and clean. You can visit this place with kids. Entree fee is less and actually its good. Zoo location is adjacent to Santa Ana Free Way (I-5). There is enough parking space for the visitors. You can celebrate small event (like Birth Day Party) inside the zoo.
It was nice, but a lot of exhibits are shut down.
This is well organized but seems to be for toddlers. Dont expect many animals, most of them are livestocks here. They run small rides, but charge you every time. Foods are the worst. They dont allow you to bring your own food, but their foods are expensive. Good for one time visit, but I dont want to come back. Not recommend, either.
Small zoo with railroad and Ferris wheel, carousel and playground for kids. The monkeys are cute!
Love this little zoo! You can see everything in 3 hours or less which makes it perfect for littles. You can pack picnic lunch and eat by playground, so kids can play after. Even includes farm to feed goats. It was closed last visit hopefully reopens soon!
Fun little zoo to kill some time. Friends staff
This is a family favorite. Nice casual meandering walk about. Nice selections of various animals. Petting zoo is a favorite of my granddaughters. We are annual family pass holders and zoo supporters. They have quite a few species of monkey, birds, and reptiles. They dont have a lot of the larger mammals youll see at the larger zoos, but an excellent destination for a casual stroll in the park, and family time!
The kids love it and its very inexpensive
We are a family of 5 kids, 2 teens, 2 tweens and a toddler. Everyone had a great time!! Tickets are pretty pricey for the ferris wheel, train and carousel, maybe a bundle would be nice. But other than that its the perfect little zoo. Enough animals to see and enough to walk around and not fee overwhelmed. Definetly going back
I cant wait for them to open, my little kids love seeing the animals! Hurry up please!
Great Covid precautions!!!! Felt safe taking the kids. We have a membership, best deal in Orange County, and it was a pleasure to walk around see the new exhibits & new animals!!!!
Cause its a zoo! Also the little private area is nice for family time
Love taking my child here. Its Mostly monkeys and birds. Generally animals from the Americas, Both north and south. Theres a train, Farris wheel and marry-go-round. Also a playground, Great for young children.Deffenetly a great place to bring your children. The year pass is worth getting if you come to the zoo a few times a year. Its a great place to visit.
Was nice to get outside for a while but there were very few animals they had a few monkeys couple of camels and two snakesI was disappointed
Wonderful place to bring curious children who want to meet and learn about animals. Small and cozy without the large crowds
I went to the zoo with my son. We have a great time. The staff there are very pleasant.
Nice place for a quick outing, and affordable. First time here and I grew up in the area. I will deffinatly return!
Its nice to have a zoo with big trees and a lot of greenery in the middle of Orange County. Its not too big but they have some interesting wild animal exhibits and a farm section. Theres a carousel and a train that goes around the zoo. Free parking with a park thats nearby.
This zoo is great for the family, especially with little kids. Large play area and fun activities.
25+ yrs/Repeat Visitor of S.A. Zoo. Always a pleasure great place 2go alone but best w/children, family & friends. Pack your Picnic baskets and make a day of it. Great quality family bonding time. My Son & I never forgot our times spent there especially 1st visit, great photo opts for memory book & so on. This Zoo has & Always will hold a Very Special place in my, I still come as often as I can. Love the new upgrades, Cant wait 2 see whats 2come. Thanks to Entire Staff & All the Volunteers.
Small and can even explore the whole place in less than hour. Enjoyed the stroll though.
Awesome zoo! They have over 50 monkeys to look at. Very friendly staff!
Great place for your buck. Its not ideal if your looking for the Best zoo, but it does have plenty of animals for you to see.
The zoo is nicer than expected. There are lots of monkeys and different areas for kids. We got there at 3:00 pm and none of the rides were going.
I was debating between a 2 and 3 for a rating. I liked this place, but it seems so small and nearly forgotten. We went on a weekday, near closing. None of the rides were working, if they do work at all. Half of the cages were empty, and only one to a few animals in the displays that were inhabited. There were a few moms with children in strollers doing mom and kid stuff, but just a few others taking in the stroll through the zoo. Two camels, two cats, two parrots, about a dozen different monkeys, an anteater. And they all looked tired, or tired of spending their lives in a cage. And all around are freeways, barrios, high rise buildings and the din of car traffic. I am glad that I got a chance to see the zoo in person, but sorry to see it look sad, lonely and forlorn.
Great place for small children.
Fun little zoo worth visiting. My 7 month old daughter enjoyed seeing monkeys, birds, and the rooster. I like how they have healthy food options and fun looking. We enjoyed eating the crocamole with veggie tots. Looking forward to making more memories with my little one.
Small zoo great for a quick outing with the little ones.
This is a great little zoo and a fun place to visit. Skip the crowds at the larger zoos and enjoy a more relaxed vist to this local gem.
Great place to gather with family and friends.
This zoo has a variety of animals including cats, birds, and farm animals. Personally, I like to visit the primate area where there are over 25 species to view. Enjoy a ride on the train, Ferris wheel, or carousel, which require additional purchase at the ticket stand. There are lots of picnic tables, as well as a play structures for both older and younger children. Expect to pay $12 for adults, children under 2 are free, and children ages 3+ are $8.
I really like bringing my kids to this zoo, however I’m disappointed you guys are still closed! San Diego zoo and Safari park are open with precautions of course!
My wife and I loved this zoo. Have a train, and a few other rides you can get on with the kids. Seems nice and relaxing even though you are in the middle of the city.
Wasnt what I expected it to be quick walk around the park could not see all animals
Dice, my daughter like it.
Looks that needs more care. Plexiglass installed does no let see what is behind in the cages. Poor quantity of animals.
We happened to go on science day and it was AMAZING!!! We didnt really attention the animals because we were so into the science stuff. Great environment though. Nice area near the café with tables and chairs (need more of tables and chairs) with a play area for the kiddos. My family had so much fun and stayed much longer than we planned to.
Its a great little zoo for kids elementary age and under. We came on a Friday when they had free ferris wheel rides. Sweet!
Had a good time with my daughter here and am grateful for the memories.
So many monkeys! This is a great place to bring young ones. In addition to the many monkeys, there are plenty of other fun creatures. There is also a traditional playground, kiddie rides, and educational exhibits. If you are going more than a few times, get the annual membership.
Not all the exhibits are open but visit the place to help the zoo and keep it open keep our economy moving
Its a small cute zoo with a few carnival rides (extra money )
It’s a great zoo ,We like the rain forest ,beautiful places, the kids like the birds and too many monkeys ,very funny!
Great fun for a small price totally worth it
Great Zoo to bring the little kids. Bring food and kids love playground. This Zoo is less stress on parents. Its not crowded and small. No big animals but that perfect for us.
