It is in Sanford, in Historic Downtown, on the shores of Lake Monroe. A beautiful place, peaceful and conducive to reflection. Worth knowing. Then get to know the city in the historical part, with very interesting buildings of the time. Good restaurants and a Saturday fair of natural products and handicrafts. This place is a dream for photographers of all skill levels and types. its got a beautiful waterfront and its right near the Downtown Sanford area which has everything from hipster bistros to comic book stores to music venues. you can have a good time here at all times of the day as they host a ton of afternoon/night time events as well. if youre creative enough, you can spend the entire day here!

A small peaceful place to enjoy Lake Monroe and pay respects to our fallen heroes. There are stones representing Veterans from the war of 1812 to present day Iraqi Freedom. Theres a marina and youll probably catch some people fishing. Theres no food due to the closure of the only restaurant on the marina.

Good park, great strip, its under construction and I didnt know before visiting but otherwise amazing.

A beautiful highlight to the city of Sanford, Florida. I visit here often to watch the sunrise. Great place for a morning run/walk. Lots of benches to sit and soak it all in or to have a lunch break.

Popped onto Google Maps to see what to do in Sanford. This walk was the first thing to come up and a review said that you were guaranteed to see an alligator. They were not wrong, we took these pictures within five minutes of getting out of the car.

Sanford has stepped up once again. After beautification of our riverfront with the Riverwalk did something awesome. Now the Acknowledgement of our wonderful heroes. Thank you! Thank you! The City of Sanford we love you.

Respectful, well kept, beautiful lake view, convenient, near restaurants and parking. I am retired Air Force, never got shot at, so no combat warrior but I respect those who were, and others like me who served but werent. Though small, this little memorial evokes the same emotions as others much larger.

Beautiful place to fish or sit. Has all our Vietnam fallen heroes listed also. I am a 1980 US Army Airborne Ranger 1st Battalion 75th Infantry. God Bless my fellow soldiers.

Cool place to run and watch a sunset

Ive been to a few veterans memorial parks in this country and with 100% honesty this is by far the most respectful memorial with the names of those who came before us. I even recognized one or two. Thank you Sanford, Florida for your love of country and being the guardians of those who refuse to go quietly into the night, who stood before evil and stood their ground until their fateful moment of going home by paying the ultimate selfless sacrifice. Thank you.

One of my absolute favorite places in Sanford, the Riverwalk is a beautiful place to get outside with the whole family. From Veterans Memorial park and the Marina to Fort Mellon park splash pad and playground is a great place to walk, run, ride bikes, fish, or just sit and enjoy the lake views. My son has grown up going here, it is safe, scenic, and fun!

I lived in Sanford years ago. I like to keep going back just to see how much its changed. I really like what they have done with the lakefront.

One of my absolute favorite spots downtown! Here you will find informative displays for many different wars and some explain Sanfords role. Night is beautiful and lit up. There are benches and occasionally youll find an outlet to charge a phone. The entire center is lined in dedicated plaques for veterans, marking their name, branch, and service years. The view is spectacular!

This little park is one section of the wonderful river walk of Sanford. The Veterans Memorial Park offers memorials to all the wars of this country and small kiosks with photos and interesting historical facts. The park overlooks Lake Monroe with a beautiful eagle statue flying high above it all.

I just moved into the Sanford area; I had only heard about the rich historical area until I had the opportunity to read it myself! The memorial is so well done. I really enjoyed the walk and share the history with my daughter; she even seen her teachers name on one of the plaques. I shared how her grandfather fought in the Koren War and received a Purple Heart. Yes this area is well done and Rich with history that we can share and try not to repeat the sins of the past.

Beautiful place for a walk with a amazing view

So peaceful. The grounds are taken care. I like that there are plenty of seating areas around 3 to look at the marina or at Lake Monroe. I did also noticed that there were a bunch of fishermen at the end. It just has a very peaceful vibe to it. At the end if you turn around if you see the big American flag that is flying in the roundabout. I did also notice that there is memorial plaques on the ground that had a bunch of flags that someone had posted at each and every one of them.

This is nice. There are those weird mosquitos at this time of year, though, so beware. Its usually quite nice to walk around.

Such an amazing place. American history well represented

So I went for a walk around downtown Sanford a week or so a go. It is a nice small city atmosphere. As if everyone knows everyone, its nice. Then I walked upon this gem. Being a retired cavalry scout I thought it was all around nice for the city to have the memorial and then I noticed something was wrong...The POW flag is flown upside down. Well being a veteran who served with 2SCR and a member of their Order of the Combat Spur I went to fix it, always ready.I couldnt and the reason was an annoyance...I didnt have a small ladder to give me the reach to unlash the rope. So not wanting to be bested by something as simple as reaching a cable I tried to increase my reach and wasnt able to find anything that would give me the needed boost...If only I was 72, haha....Well bested by my own stature and lack of equipment I went across the street to the city hall and called their hotline. Informed them of the issue and left them my contact info...It should be fixed by now...Other than that it is a nice park, it really is calming and the fact its part of the 2nd Regiment of Dragoons history is just all around cool.Once I notice the flag is fixed...Its all around 5 stars.

For some reason there is a bug infestation all around the memorial. While you walk around it the bugs swarm around you. They itch and you feel them in your hair face arms actually all over. The railings should be cleared of them. They should have something actively preventing them from nesting all around the memorial and the marina. Very disturbing and unsanitary experience. For shame as it should be a place of respect.
