Many groups share the facilities here. in the parking lot is relatively small given the size of the facility. If a large group has arrived first, then you may need to park a block or two away from the facility, given that street parking is of course taken up by people who live in the neighborhood.Theyve completely redone the athletic fields, replacing them all with artificial turf. It appears that a really nice job was done.The complication is that the turf has been constructed with an infill product that appears to be different than cork or rubber -- possibly something like ground up nutshells or something similar.In my first game as a coach at the facility, eight players across the two soccer teams ended up with abrasions on their hips, elbows, and forearms after they fell and scraped themselves on the ground. Think something akin to rug burns. Ive played and coached on multiple other artificial turf fields, and never seen more than two or three scrapes like this over an entire season.If youre a coach of teams that will play on this field, definitely bring the extra large size bandages with you to your games.

There is a very tall and skinny pine tree, the play ground is also made from natural grass. Very nice place.

Very modern park. My daughter and I went here not too long ago. The only issue I did see where some unsightly people hanging around. They area has changed a lot and the neighborhood is changing.

Nice place to have a walk..

Well, it is a lovely little park within walking distance of my office. Went over there with my dog to give him some exercise since he had been cooped up in the office all morning. Me, the dog in the field, and a woman with two kids on the playground. Dog was running around with a stick. No one was bothered, because there was essentially no one there. Went to leave and out of nowhere there is a Park Ranger. Turns out that the dogs of San Mateo have two options to get off leash. A small terrible bare dirt and rocks park on third Street or Central Park from 6-8 AM. I wouldnt want to be a resident here and own a dog...

Restrooms! Baseball diamond and other playing fields. Two gated play areas for smaller children to play in that get shade in the afternoon, and a swimming pool open in summer. The recreational center offers programs for everyone: preschoolers, teenagers, and adults. The parking lot is fairly large, too. Been coming here for nearly three years and never had a problem: it is safe, clean, and everyone is polite/friendly.

I love this place. A great atmosphere for kids.

The Martin Luther King Center Park is considered a landmark to many of us who are native to San Mateo, California. I learned to play ping pong there, I learned to swim there, I played in the play ground many hours in a days time, Ive participated in many events there and most of all the childhood memories bring nothing but SMILES to my face.I believe this special place can do the same for many children and adults. So let and allow your children and family members to have the same memories. It couldnt be a better place!
