Feels like being in the country. This is a large park that includes many sports fields, vast lawns, playgrounds, 2 meeting buildings, historic houses that can be toured, and equestrian facilities. Horses can often be seen in the ring or on the trails. There is a dual track surrounding most of the park, one soft surface and the other paved. They are great for all activities. The trail also connects to the surrounding community trails. The dual trail along Twin Oaks Valley Parkway, adjacent to the golf course, is very shaded and enjoyable.

Wide open grassy areas. Perfect for casual play or organized sports. Well maintained facilities. (The bathrooms are locked due to Covid-19, in addition to the playground and museums). Plenty of parking, easily accessible. Minimal shade. Horse training facilities in the center. Biking and dirt trail surrounds the park and connects to the nearby neighborhood.

Wow! What a great patk and location, its an hidden away gem in San Marcos. Lovely grounds. And would be a great place for parties or even receptions.

Good place to make a pit stop if you are riding your bike along Twinn Oaks. Water fountain and restrooms

I really love this park. Its beautiful, manicured and well taken care of. Looking for a place to play sports, hold an event in the recreational house, look at some historical homes or maybe just enjoy the horse trails. Theres plenty it offers.

Nice big open field, heaven sent for my little one. Always clean and plenty of space for everyone. You have more than 6 feet for social distancing let me tell you.

We stopped to see the Cherry trees! Beautiful large recreation park with a separate playground and soccer field with accessible horse trails. Theres a barn house for party or wedding events.

This park is so clean, it seems brand new. Lots of space for sports. Picnic areas. Spotless restrooms. Childrens play structures. Even horse areas. Empty on a Friday afternoon.

7E2921: SMYS plays their soccer games there, so the parking lot fills up during the soccer seasons specially when ongoing games are ending and upcoming games traffic is coming in. Nice settings with hills in the background. Fun atmosphere during the games. Lots of kids. Lots of colorful umbrellas and tents as it can get pretty hot when the sun is out. Public restrooms are available.

Parking is not a problem. Many trails and surroundings are pleasant.

Its very clean and you feel safe taking your family here for some fun in the sun

Nice park, but the childrens play equipment has no shade so the slides and everything were scolding hot. We enjoyed it, but will be back when its cooler.

Spacious fields, ample parking, and an agreeable snack stand (when actual events are occuring). My only displeasure is that there is really only one road leading to this place.

The best park

Parking is good, lots of grassy areas with shade. Easy access to the main road makes this place doable, butt im not sure if its a place where you can take dogs off a leash. It also has a level dirt/pebble walkway around the circumference of the majority of the park with vëhïçļę access.

Wonderful park. Lots of trees, grassy areas, a play structure... Easy to get to but quiet and peaceful! Plenty of parking, too.

A great park clean and a huge soccer field used by many San Marcos sports players for practice or games ! They also have concession stands with great tasting snacks at reasonable prices ! Awesome Soccer teams share this field of awesome future possibilities !

Walnut Park has been a major part of San Marcos as long as I can remember. The Old Barn is a great place for parties and receptions.

The park is very large. There tends to be plenty of parking. There are a couple of playgrounds, some hiking trails, a local museum, and horse riding area. We take our kids he here for various events. one of my favorite parks in San Marcos.

This park is a good place to park and walk or even just sit in my truck and relax. The park has equestrian parking. I cant tell you much about the equestrian uses their as I dont own/ride horses. San Marcos historical society also has a couple buildings there. Im under the impression that is where the headquarters, or at least a meeting hall, is located. There are a couple historical buildings within the park, however theyre not open everyday. There is also a party hall that looks great for things like wedding receptions.

This park is a really nice area and everytime I go it is well maintained. It would be nice if this place had a dog park attqched to it though.

Loved the different play areas, soccer fields and areas for horses. Plenty of parking and several shaded areas.

In addition to the excellent playing fields, picnic area, scenic grass field, climbing structure, small museum, ample parking and barn- shaped assembly hall that are similar to other large parks that I have visited, this one has equestrian facilities and an absolutely amazing divided trail. Ten feet asphalt for skaters and bicyclists and ten feet soft surface for runners and equestrians. The two halves are separated by a picturesque fence. Also, the restrooms includes a sunscreen dispenser!

Fields are kept in good condition during the youth soccer season. Parking can be tough during soccer season on the weekends. Fun family events during the holidays put on by the city. Heritage park is a fun learning experience for kids. Outdoor playground and picnic spots available

I had my daughters sweet sixteen party here. Easy rental process and very reasonable!

Good place to take a long walk. Also fun playgrounds for the kids. Sometimes there are horses which are also fun to watch.

Went here for a weekend soccer tournament and was pleasantly surprised at how well kept the grass was. Very scenic park with clean bathrooms. Very nice park.

Great place for family!

Mainly used for big community events e.g. soccer, football, etc.. Good location and plenty of open space to throw a frisbee, fly a kite, some playground equipment, and a few shade shelters with grills.

I used to come here with my brothers. Its a lot of fun for many hours....and practice
