Such a beautiful park, our dog was so excited when we brought her for the first time, and my sisters loved climbing all of the rocks. We even found where someone had built a wall of rocks, and we added to it. We plan to come back in the spring or summer when the dam is open so we can swim.
Pretty much dry around the dam and then it starts back up around the concrete slab. Still tons of fun walking around with the kids and looking at the stuff they generally dont get a chance to see.
Soccer fields are in great shape. Plenty of parking. The walking track is nice. Great place to play.
I liked it the way it used to be when you can actually drive in the inside of the park but now they change things you cant do that anymore
Its a very pleasant park always clean not so over crowded my favorite place to walk
We’ve lived near this beautiful park for 3 years and only just visited! This park has a nice swimming hole, not too cold, perfect for children. There are soccer fields and a play scape. We went on a Friday around 7pm, and did not have any trouble finding parking, despite the place being pretty busy. We will definitely be coming back with our nieces and nephew!
I have been to here before. It was awesome! I really like the water is not too much cold. Also my dog was fun so much. But the park is closed today. I don’t know if the governor forced it to close due to COVID-19. Anyone knows?
Its a really peaceful place. There were no crowds, plenty of parking. Overall, a really nice place to take the pups for a walk. Im glad the park is open again.
Public access and free. When we travel we usually travel with our dog. Perfect spot for them to get wet. This place has a walk in area beyond the dam. Its shallow enough for kids and dogs. The dam area is usually the popular spot to swim or kayak. There is enough marked parking next to the bal field you just have to walk your things down to the river. Road is a one way street but there is a drop off and unload entrance then you can park.
I have been visiting Five Mile Dam Park for 20 years, and I am never disappointed. The facilities are all well maintained and the scenery is some of the best in this area. I love watching the peaceful water moving and there is plenty of birds and beautiful wildflowers for visiting shutterbugs.
Great place for family outings. Good swimming hole. And the kiddos love turning over rocks looking for new bugs. But do use caution exploring below the dam we have encountered several cotton mouths in the area so dont let the kids go without supervision
Pretty and relaxing. Everyone stays to themselves mainly. Alot of room also.
A charity run was held there for the Kyle Blue Santa Fund. Park has good facilities and is a nice place to access the Blanco river when the river parks are reopened.
This place is very fun! Take the family, pack a cooler, some beach towels and a light weight tent/canopy (for shade). You can spend all day at 5 mile dam!
Its great for the whole family. The shallow end is about 3 feet deep and the water is warm. Also when its full, you can jump off the dam into water more than 6 feet deep. Great relaxing fun.
Quiet, beautiful area. Its not easy to get a canoe or kayak down to the water but its doable.
It is sad to see this place bone dry for a while.Website from Hays County or anything else does not mention that its is completely dried up.. Drove from Richmond Tx and no luck...
A beautiful spot along the river. Popular with college kids and families. You can float half a mile and walk trails back. Lots of parking.
Pretty big area when it comes to playing fields but other than some tables and a small kids play structure there really isnt much happening here. Ive personally never seen the waters flowing as shown by others but maybe one day.
Can be a fun place for a swim if the timing is right. Nice little park but can get crowded easily. Very popular with locals.
Amazing place with nice water.. exec even at low levels.
Its not back to its original glory, but its on it way. I miss being able to go back to the boat ramp area. Wish they would put more effort into this place. At least the fish are coming back.
I usually visit once a week, the water has been pretty high recently. Its a beautiful place to be
Even though its dry you can still walk, run and get some quiet time.
Love this place! Tucked away but only 15 minutes to Kyle.
First time here and its beautiful. Water was warm and clean but very rocky on the bottom, so wear water shoes. Not a lot of people which is great.
Omg had so much fun.
Sunsets here are just perfect. I wish I lived in one of those houses on the hill just for the views they get.
Such a place of awareness in the Spirit. The REVELATION I receive is amazing. Every time I arrive there, happiness and joy awaits me. Such an amazing place to be. Try it and you may discover God is hidden there waiting for you to come and be healed from everything that entangled us for years. Come and witness His power and strength.
Very tranquil a great place to walk v
Great place to take the family for an afternoon swim. Bring some tubes and a cooler!
I love going to this place it is very pretty and amazing
A nice, quiet park thats awesome for family. an area familiar with locals thats not exactly floudering with any of the collegiate crowd.
Great place to take the family everyone there is just having fun no worries at all river is shallow enough for kids to learn how to swim and deep enough in other parts for them to cannon ball.
I love this place. Bring your boat and paddle upriver from the dam. Check USGS river flow for Blanco River first. Beautiful spot!
Water levels are perfect. Dam and waterfall soothing sounds!
I love this park, wet, dry, or in between this is the place to go and relax. Walk around the trails, jog through the park, play soccer, or just relax under a tree. Bring your dog, or cat, and a gallon of water.
Clean, peaceful, no crowds and great parking.Great swim.
Great time there.....but port a pottys..were disgusting. They need to be taken out asap. Or replaced or whatever yall do with them. Thata why I gave it a 2 star.review
Awesome place to take family relax feel good very friendly Gathering cant wait to go back
Pretty cool spot only thing that kind of made me feel uncomfortable was the fact that just one day prior to visiting a 14 year old boy drowned to death here . Water is pretty deep in some areas and I cant swim so Im not trying to be another statistic . I kept imagining a body was gonna float by me and it made me nervous so I just sat on the bank smoking ciggs and drinking beer until it was time to go . Also on another visit I saw a naked man so I guess I dont really like this place very much .
Fun Day of enjoying the Blanco. A bit low when we visited but still worth the trip. Be curious how it is when river is higher and going over the dam.
Soo fun my family loves going here.Brother loves fishing so amazing to swim. Definitely reccomend
We enjoyed the park. It was clean & clearly well maintained. We look forward to doing more exploring around the dam next time.
Place is dammed up rn but its a beautiful place to swim otherwise
Nice peaceful place with clean river and beach area. It maybe too hot in summer so go there in winters or early morning hours. Take enough food and drinks with you.
Quiet place, off the beaten path....
Not much shade or shoreline to get in the water, but still a pretty place. on the weekends, lots of tejano music... but relatively quiet during the week.
I didnt see any restrooms so we had to leave and come back. Other then that we had fun.
Crying shame! This used to be a favorite place of mine to visit but it’s apparent the local government has diverted funds across the street to the athletic field. Skip this place and go swim in town until the city decides to give it the attention it deserves. I was totally shocked when I pulled up to the river. They have some “Bo-John’s” that haven’t been emptied since the Civil War I’m sure!
Its great when there is water.....but it was dry?!Just as cool to walk the dry beds and see it that way
The facilities at the soccer fields were always clean
I needed a pet friendly park for my dog, and I read a recommendation for this park. The water is pretty clean and cool. There isnt any shade near the water, so a canopy or umbrella is necessary in the summer.
Nice Riverside Park. Pretty peaceful. Seems to be off leash friendly.
I havent been here since they built all the fields up around the 5 mile dam! I guess it would be nice to jump in the water after a hot summer soccer game. To many people now except if you go when everyone is at school or work.
Went by today check the water levels . 10/24/18 it’s definitely full from all the rain and looks beautiful . Love the sound of the water, it’s so peaceful ! Please keep updates coming in. When I checked back in August it was completely dry .
Clean park and river! Had a great time kayaking and enjoying the outdoors!!!
The five mile dam is a place whrre you can go hang out with family the only disadvantsge there is, is the rocks are very slippery under water on the more shallow side.
It was great, the water was nice and warm, the currents not to strong. It was not very crowded and there was a good amount of parking space. There was a small waterfall like area that separated 2 parts of the dam, the waterfall was only a few feet tall and great for pictures, it looked like there was a trail on the other side of the water fall, the water had a few floats and it is nice to bring a few pool floats.
This was my first time here. It was cool. Kids had a blast jumping into the water off the rocks. Tons of space to do your thing. No one seemed to obey the dog on lease rule but that was the only negative. I saw a guy let his German Shepard take a massive poop and just left it on the path but if this was a review on people there would be no hope for anyplace now days unfortunately.
Perfect for families! 4 ft water level almost everywhere, dam doubles as a slide lol!
There were people all over the park, none wore masks, there was no 6 ft spacing out a care in the world about covid.
Get there early and its really private and nice
My first time coming today with my younger children and they loved it ! Very nice, clean, peaceful and not crowded. A good place for the kids to splash around and cool off
Above the dam, its deep enough to swim, after the dam its ankle deep, rock bottom, clear water. Plenty of room, lots of parking. Even packed its still accessible. Nice Sunday afternoon with family or alone.
Loved it! Great place for the kids. Place is well kept, little to no trash. Only downside is there arent enough trees for shade so take your own shade!
Nice place to swim in the summer and go for a walk. Not much water at this moment though.
Great little spot to get out for a walk, see some nature while not going to a long drive from Kyle or San Marcos. I stop and eat lunch here all the time at work.
Nice park not very crowded when I went. Took the dog for a swim.
Nice park.
Great spot to swim fish or take the dogs and kids
I love this park. Used to live a few miles from here and would ride my motorcycle out here weekly. Great place for a picnic, water fun or moonlight.
Great place for small children, dogs, organized events and fishing
Great youth soccer facility. They have food, bathrooms, but bring your chairs. Right next to the river also. Really cool place.
Sad that the river was really dried up, but it was fun to walk around the riverbed. Awesome place for a hike.
Simply beautiful. Clean and not overly packed with people, we cant wait to go back! Its great for little kids and adults.
No water in October - but still a nice walking path, found some nice shells and fossils. Nice fields and park.
Bone dry! The park floor the kids and soccer fields are great. But the five mile dam itself needs water stat!
Amazing place bathroom doors are locked
I love going to 5 mile dam its nice and peaceful,,
Very nice place to cool down during the summer. You can bring your dogs too which is pretty cool.
Plenty of parking. Tons of space on the water. Lots of family bring tents and grills which can ruin the natural experience of the river. Great for families, not so much for dogs.
This place is amazing in summer, has a good place to picnic with the family or friends
Great place! Water felt awesome. Trash cans accessible. Tons of parking! Will be back
Water or NO WATER the kiddos can run..play.. climb.. We go as A BIG FAMILY AND HAVE A BLAST EVERY TIME
Beautiful place Ive been going to for over 30 years. Just wish people would be more respectful with their dogs especially around children.
Fun hangout spot when not crowded. Great for cooling down in the summer.
This place is so perfect for a free afternoon of swimming and relaxing! Get there early on the weekends for a good spot and che k water levels before you go.
We worked on planting trees in the area. It’s a surprisingly beautiful little park with a great view of the river.
Is there any fish here?
When the water is up this is a great place to spend the day in calm water along the Blanco. Excellent swimming, small cliff jumping, great to kayak; all around fun for an afternoon in the sun. Park across the one way road at the soccer complex and walk down.
Great time for all ages. Spent the day swimming with the kids. Bring a canopy, there is no shade.
Great soccer fields and facilities. Gorgeous views as well.
Nice place to be with family. Just have to be very careful some parts have algae and can slip and fall
Sweet spot when theres water, pet friendly, fishing friendly, cook out ar just play on the socxer fields.
