Hidden away in the suburbs of San Marcos is the perfect 3 mile hill that offers an ideal 1 hour workout. Get off your butt, hike, run or ride this hill once or twice a week and in a few months you will be transformed

This is an easier trail that is well maintained and safe. Theres a slight elevation difference throughout this trail compared to the steeper trails starting from the lake or town center. During park hours, there are toilets and parking is across the street from San Elijo School.

Nice spot to start your trail walk with your friend or animals. This is a horse-friendly staging area with room for horse trailer parking. The parking lot is dirt, so expect your car and shoes to get dusty.

Good little trail. I take my dogs here all the time. Only problem is when there are horses on the trail they take up all the space and when they go to the bathroom they dont pick it up so there can be giant lumps of doodoo on the trail. Otherwise beautiful trail, great overlooks. Bmx rideable, well maintained and one of my favorite little hikes to go do

Great views east and north to San Marcos and beyond. Loops around to connect to Double Peak, which also provides fantastic vistas in all directions. The trail is easy to moderate, dog friendly, with abundant nature to enjoy. Parking is limited and the area is popular. Closes after sundown so expect to be back to your car before dark.

Very nice but hilly trail, ~3 mile to the water tower at the far end. First half is rough, rocky, and unpaved trail. Then asphalt for the 2nd half. About 900 of elevation gain on an out and back.Great views over San Marcos and mountains to the north, then towards Oceanside and the Pacific. If you really want an uphill test, go from trailhead to the asphalt, turn left and head up to Double Peak.:-O
