Beautiful facility but has a very rude fat phobic old man employee. I’m just trying to better myself and improve my health. Please get better staff

The center is pretty well equipped. No bumper plates for Olympic lifts & they are missing a few stations/machines Id like. But the have most everything else. Plenty of Cardio equipment, a pretty good climbing wall, 4 basketball courts, a 2nd floor track, several racket ball courts & workouts classrooms. I can only speak for the women, but bigger locker rooms with more lockers and showers would be helpful. Their hours are amazing for a student rec center 6a-12a

Too nice of a facility for broke and in debt college students. No wonder we have a student debt crisis. Suggest listen to Dave Ramsey!

Terrible system. No water fountains. They rather you get injured instead of you sliding your mask down for a sip of water.

Equipment stays broken. Its hard to maintain a gym when your staff is exclusively made up of people who dont work out and have no idea what any of the equipment is for or how it functions. This place is like a steak house run by vegans, lots of soy and disappointment.

Modern, huge, clean. Way better deal than a predatory gym company.

Theyre always closed on holidays. It gets really smelly during peak times. But it’s a gym and has all the necessary equipment. Could use some renovating. And I think it should be open 24/7, but its not.

Earlier today I had experience with the campus recreation facilitys front desk service members that I thought other may want to be aware.I am active duty in the Air Force, stationed out of state and currently in the process of preparing for a deployment. My younger sister is a senior at Texas State.I was scheduled for a training in San Antonio this week and today took an extra day of leave for what will be my last opportunity to see and spend time with my sister before I depart. We planned to work out together at the campus rec center. I drove from San Antonio to her apartment and then walked 30 minutes from her apartment to wait for her there until she finished her last class. When I arrived I realized she and I were misinformed regarding a guest pass using her student ID. I was told by the front desk representatives that there was nothing of that manner and that the only option was for me to pay $6. I explained the situation and that I had walked there from 30 minutes away with nothing but my phone and water bottle and asked if there was any pass for active duty military, if they could make an exception for me or if I could pay after my sister arrived and asking her to bring $6.During our conversation, they were short and seemed entirely disinterested in being there let alone helping me find any kind of solution to the predicament. When I asked if there was any management available who could possibly assist us they initially gave me a run-around stating that they were each others managers and there was no one else to speak to. When I asked if there was any way I could speak to anyone else they provided me with card for the Director of the Department of Campus Recreation and said I was out of luck since there wasnt any way a director would get back to me any time soon.Frustrated with the way I was being treated I accepted that there was simply no way they were going to help and asked if there were any means of providing feedback and I asked for both of their names. They both chuckled and then directed to a comment card box. Their customer service and level of consideration were absolutely abhorrent and I was disappointed at the representation of an academic university that one of my siblings currently attends and another is planning to attend next year.As a military member, I can appreciate adherence to policy and procedures but this is never something done at the expense of our people and I was disappointed to see that an institution of higher learning like Texas State doesnt have employees who hold similar values.I would greatly appreciate possibly implementing some form of alternative means of entry into the Recreation Center for non-students in the future to avoid situations like this.

The equipment is is beginning to show its age and some machines seem to be perpetually out of order. Its a great place to work out when its not shoulder to shoulder busy, which is following new years, before spring break, after the beginning of a new semester, or like everyday from noon to 10pm. Besides that, the overall vibe of the rec center isnt always the most welcoming and the amount of people is often overwhelming.

The SRC has a variety of machines, a track, courts to play basketball, soccer (indoor), and volleyball, has a bag room for boxing, has treadmills, ellipticals, etc. Free weights, bench, squat, incline, squat with the safety feature in case you dont have a spotter... There are even group excersize classes and the option to get a personal trainer. Theres even a golf simulator. This place is great, and there are convenient water fountains all over.
