I unfortunately had a terrible experience with this establishment. I was calling to ask a simple question and was treated poorly and then promptly hung up on. I would not go there knowing this is what the service is going to be like.

The atmosphere here is great. Food was on point. Delicious mac and cheese, burger was cooked to perfection, chicken strips were most. Only thing was the home made chips were a bit over cooked and the soda fountain didnt have ice, but the bartenders filled our cups very quickly and politely! Overall a very good experience. Loved the outdoor playground for the kiddos!

Wow! Great food, fun atmosphere, and the kids loved it. They even have an N64 running Mario Kart! Heaven. Excellent spot.

If you cant count to four or if youre a white kid whose parents dont know how to cook, youre probably not going to notice anything wrong. If youve ever been to a real bar with real standards, youre gonna be underwhelmed. I get that its a dive, but damn.

I was there on a Sunday, and I was basically the only one there. The waitresses were super friendly. The owner was extremely cool. I will definitely be back with some friends. And I will let all of my friends know to stop in when riding through San Marcos.

Kayla is an awesome bartender, we have been coming weekly for the $1.50 margs and the outdoor atmosphere. It is dog friendly. They have a fun spin the wheel special where you can get your drink at random. Full menu and personable staff. Better than Chimys!!!

Interesting local hangout. No servers. Order at the bar. Small menu, but interesting. Out of several items the evening we were there. Still, I had alligator, which you dont see very often. Large variety of beers on tap. Outdoor seating where people bring their dogs. Reasonably priced.

This is a nicefamily bar. Theres a good play area away from the drinking and cigarette smoke that really does keep the kids entertained. There is a big slide and a rock wall...but none of it too steep for the little guys to play on. They often have$2 margaritas that arent bad and your typical bar food at avg prices. They do run drink specials, so ask before you order!

The food was fantastic and Louies had a 90s kinda vibe. I will visit again!

Best outdoor bar in town

This is a wonderful outdoor bar with a playground for kids. They have a huge tap selection and a good seafood menu. I went here with my friends for an afternoon drink and found that it was not crowded at all. It has a young adult scene, but not all college kids. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay away from the square, but still want a central location.

Sorry we bothered you with trying to bring in business...we were literally the only one there and I think they didnt even want us there. What do you want? Haha nice service.

It was a surprise to me that I ended up at Lewis at day. I had wanted to take a friend that had brought her daughter and sons to San Marcos to evaluate the art school. I had so much wanted to show them the river but the restaurant did not allow their two little pooches to eat on their deck with us. I quickly Google close by Cajun restaurant and asked Louise if they would allow a couple of pets. they were more than happy to oblige and we had a great day talking about art and food and the love of good company. This was all enjoyed even more due to the atmosphere and great food at Louise.

Nice place. No servers though. Definitely a college hang out. Food was pretty good. Draft beer was pretty cold...not quite ice cold...but it was close. I had the seafood nachos. Husband had a burger and fries. Both were hot and fresh. I would definitely go back. Not sure why this is called an oyster bar..the only oysters offered were half or full dozen. Im presuming on the half shell. No other description was given and fried wasnt listed anywhere else. Ill post again when we go back.

Great vibes and fair prices on drinks. I do have to say their beerita mainly consists of beer and no margarita. So you are left with 15oz of dos and 3oz of marg. The food is not the best, but hey its a bar!

Louies is a great local dive bar Ive been going to for the past few years. Great staff, great drinks, and a great atmosphere. Its outdoors so feel free to smoke (whatever) out there.

Great oysters. REALLY REALLY GOOD.... I have lived several areas on the water. You would think these were fresh off the boat. Bartenders are great. I never sit at the table so I just know the bartenders. But everybodys really nice very friendly and very attentive. I go in anytime I get a chance when Im in San Marcos.

Make sure you are being charged correctly... Gumbo terrible.. Allagator the bomb. Didnt have oysters main reason went there. Outside atmosphere. Music great.

I ordered when they weren’t even busy, 45 minutes go by and people are getting their food and we’re still waiting so I politely go ask the bartender or owner or whoever how much longer it’s gonna be and he says “I don’t know I just work here” and says they have a small kitchen and a lot of orders. Another 20 minutes go by we VERY POLITELY go ask for a refund because we have somewhere to be and he doesn’t apologize, curses under his breath, and throws the card back at us. Please go out of business.

Food is incredible and the restaurant setup is really cool! One of our favorite dine in and hang out spots!

They have oysters in their name but do not take pride in their oysters and cut them an hour or more before ordered. Dont waste your time here for oysters....but a pint of beer....they can at least manage that. This place is laughable.

Great basic pub fare and drinks at this college dive bar. Multiple televisions showing lots of games. Highly recommend.

Best deal and happy hour

We came for crawfish but they seem to run out of stuff very quickly. “Food smells better than it tastes” says my wife. I her husband, think the food tastes really good but we agree the food is overpriced for the small portions we received. My wife got 4 shrimp and 2 very small pieces of catfish from the basket portion. I got the alligator basket, again small portions and still more hungry after eating here. Our individual orders were $15 or more and cost more than it should have.

Do not order the friend chicken strips, especially if your expecting to actually eat the food you order. However, service and environment were great. We were lucky enough for a NOLA styled (lots of brass) band to entertain us while we enjoyed some beers on the patio.

The food is awesome and priced reasonable, drinks can be a little more expensive depending on what you order. The service is good. The atmosphere can be thick but what does someone expect, its a college hang out! Overall this place is great because of the food! Love the burgers and homemade potato chips!

This place is 100% San Marcos. The vibe is chill, the tunes are always perfect, the bartenders are quick and attentive, the food is always fresh and GOOOOOOOD and Its all made even better because of the drink specials. $1.50 margaritas all day every day?? YES PLEASE! If you want to have a good time and really experience San Marcos, you CANT go wrong with Louies

Great place to go hve a drink with great people

This is a really good spot with a different take on oysters. Inside and outside dining along with a full bar that owns a large beer selection. Its a block off the square and parking is very limited... and San Marcos loves to tow away cars that arent in the appropriate parking spot. Good food and good beer. I recommend it.

Ehh, crawfish isnt good but everything else we had forms their usual menu was great!

Ive always heard prices are a bit high and the environment was ok. Myself and two other female friends went, took a good 10min to even get our drinks so by that point decided not to get food. Had to ask the waitresses for another round, I guess she didnt care for her tip. So decided to leave after 45 min, repeatedly said excuse me to get the bar tenders attention, so after the 5th time my friend just banged on the counter and said were ready to check out. Of course that got the attention of both bar tenders. Im sure there focus was on the other side of the bar, where the men filled up the bar. Hopefully they both got a good tip because that was the worse customer service and we didnt leave a tip. If you would like your bartender to ignore you this is the place to go.

Service not great. Went there because had a good lobster roll a couple years ago, but they had taken it off the menu. Oysters were big and fresh, but they failed to cut the muscle from the shell. Amateur work when they have Oyster on the name plate. No reason to go back

Only had the oysters, but they were perfection. Perfect size and temperature! Very casual. Most people sit outside and eat and drink.

Awesome Food & Cool Atmosphere

Best margaritas at the best price. A must visit if youre ever in town. This is a true San Marcos staple and Ive never been to a more genuine place.

Love this place and the setting. However the guy who I assume is the bar manager (always wears a hat) is always the biggest a** h***He brings down the atmosphere. Also, he has poured me two drinks with glass shards in them. When I asked for compensation he gave me a horribly dirty look and chunked my drinks in the trash and poured me just one more, then walked off without saying a word. Lastly, I end up with extra charges on my card that I know for a fact werent from me. My best friend has had to meet up with the owner to dispute his charges because there were so many that he hadnt made. All the other staff is wonderful and I go there at least 3-4 times a week.

Not bad food and not bad drinks but nothing stands out about this place. They need some really stellar app or dessert to really kick it up and make it a destination rather than a fall back. Overall, pretty good though.

So different from when we used to come here in Louies early days, and not in a good way. Gone are most seafood options like lobster rolls, and whats left are only catfish and overpriced oysters. We left without ordering food. Sorry, Louies, it was good to know you back when.

Great environment, great drinks, but improperly shucked oysters. Bring your own knife because youll be separating meat from shell yourself. I dont really mind that, but it was a slight inconvenience.

The drinks and food is great, but there is a particular old man that is a bartender that ruined this place for me. He would not serve me my drink when provided an ID until I showed him a credit card with my name because he believed my ID was fake. So I had to walk all the way to my vehicle just to get my credit card. If you cannot tell the difference between a real ID and a fake ID then you should not be a bartender.

Food is too expensive for the quantity you get cool atmosphere though

Great food, great drinks, great staff. Ask for Eyeball Paul (Arin) and do yourself a favor and have a green tea shot. Eddies food skills are top knotch, and the oysters are certified gangsta.

Took some dear friends of mine there on a Sunday to have them try out their food since they had never been there before.The service was horrible. I ordered a Blue Hawaiian and a 5 yr old could have made it better.When I expressed my concern to the so called bar tender and asked him to make me a Bahama Mama instead, he put the drink in a shot glass and asked me to taste that first to make sure he made it right and asked me what he should have put in there. I was like are you kidding me??? Youre the bar tender not me!!! My friend ordered friend mushrooms as an appetizer and it took them over 40 mns to bring her food out . I ordered street tacos and when I took my first bite, the food was cold as ice so I had to return that as well. It was disgusting!! At that point, I asked to speak to the manager and the bar manager came out. I told him all the mishaps taking place and he just kept shaking his head and putting his hands covering his eyes. But the best part was when a waiter brought us food to go apologizing for the wait and we opened it wondering what it was and it wasnt even our food. We told him this was a mistake so he took it to the next table. I guess the next table had been waiting for a while as well so they opened the food and said it wasnt theirs either. At this point, 2 tables had opened the food and touched it. He finally finds the correct table and gives the food to those poor folks who had been waiting. This is gross and unsanitary!! They should have made the food all over and gave it to the right table. They also had mustard on our table that had nasty stuff all over it and unsanitary. The tabasco sauce had no lead and very hard. We told that same manager that as well and he threw those items away. This is uncalled for and was a terrible unsanitary experience. Just simply disgusting!!!!!!!

Awesome bar depending on the weather bc it is an outdoor venue. The beer selection is nice, but there doesnt seem to be much change in the tap selection. The music is always good.

OMG, my boyfriend Oscar Cadena Jr. and myself had never been to this certain place b4 but we really did enjoy ourselves. It is an extremely cool place to chill out and unwind. We tried their Watermelon Margaritas they really hit the spot after a long day of this and that for only $1.50 . So if ever youre tired of the places here in New Braunfels try something new over in our neighbor town San Marcos . Where you will get fast and friendly service. I give this place a solid 10.

I come to Louies quite often, and never had a bad experience until tonight, and that is why I will not be returning. I finally got approached after being ignored at the bar top for about 15 min, and I ordered pull pork nachos and a Bloody Mary, and the girl says oh were out of mix. Disappointed, I walked over to my friends and learned that another bartender let them order bloody Marys and they were not actually out of mix. Another male bartender approached as some people are paying, and says hey we dont serve/make bloodys after 5 (it was barely 10 min after 5pm). I ask him while he is still standing there, so are yall not out of mix or are yall lying to not make one? And he he said something along the lines of thats what they say, and I suggested to just tell the truth (I understand if theyre busy and cant make them). I went l to let her know that I wished she would have just told me the truth. As I was sitting with my friends, she comes over and tried to apologize by saying, sorry, but my manager told me was out, but you can leave if you want like I have the right to ask you to leave. So, no she was not apologizing she wanted me to know she could kick me out even though she, and her coworker were extremely rude and liars for no reason. I worked in the restaurant industry for four years and would never purposely lie and be rude to any of my guests or customers. If you want an honest and good tip, then be honest and a good server, which is a pretty easy work ethic that they clearly do not live up too.

Terrible service, decent food and cheap drinks.Crawfish boils are amazing but on a busy day getting anyones attention at the bar requires an act of God. If its busy skip this place and go to one of the bars with better service all around you.

Im not from San Marcos, but was there for business. My director took me there for lunch. I had the Philly cheese steak, and it was delicious. The staff was a little slow and not very attentive. We ordered tea, but it wasnt ready so they gave us water. Tea was finally done nearly halfway through our meal.

This Oyster House didnt have enough Oysters to make a dozen today. The half dozen oysters were clearly from a jar. The Draft Dos Equis was skunky. The paper towels were wet. There was no ketchup in the bottle. The soda fountain had two or three different deinks that needed the syrup changed out and the Po boy bread was plain, hard and tasteless. The lady at the bar was quite noce though.

I have been coming to Louies for a while now and have always enjoyed my experience and the atmosphere, that was until today. I am absolutely taken back with how rude the staff working this particular shift were and I will most certainly not be coming back.

Im sure its a cool spot for the college kids. Unfortunately, it was a little dingy and the condiments needed to be changed out.

Advertise crawfish but only on Saturday is it served an apparently for like an hour!!!! Say its the best but never get to try!!! Drinks weak an over priced. $10 to park an dont be late cause they got a vulture from Rios Towing who will swoop in an take your ride or charge you $50 to move his truck from behind you!!!
