Historic ranch with extensive trail system taking you up into the hills and providing excellent views of the whole valley. Dog-friendly.
Great trails to hike. Pond with turtles, quaint farm area with chickens! Tiny parking lot with street parking available.
Fun little visitor center explaining the farming history of the city. Great place to bring elementary school students to learn more about the agricultural roots of Silicon Valley.
Tucked away at the back of a residential neighborhood, with no signs indicating its presence until you arrive, this historical park is a hidden gem of South San Jose.Great for little ones, theres easy walking trails, chickens, ducks and turtles to see.For the adults, the informational exhibits tell the story of the Ohlone Indians and ranch life from the 1700s through today.José Bernal and his family converted this land from cattle ranch to orchards. The rich soil from the slaughtering grounds gave rise to the most prolific orchards in the region. Its always fascinating to learn about our local history!
Love this park! Close to home with a little chicken coop.
I love this park. There are deer and bobcats. When you take the short walk to Dottie’s pond you can see turtles and ducks. If you want something more strenuous there are hiking trails. It’s peaceful and serene.
What a dramatic ascent from the parking lot! Well, not the basecamp at a foothill kind but good enough to get the heart pumping within a few hundred feet. Bonus points for decent views of San Jose from the top of the trail. The overhead power lines are a bit spooky though.
Great place for a walk. The trail along the drainage canal is a lot longer for those who want a long hike/run. The old house and barn is open Fridays and Saturdays. A historical site.
I love the California foothills.Today I saw a coyote. Yesterday, bunches of deer.Great scenary for a kid from Indiana.I love hiking the hills. Today was in the rain. With even a bit of rain, the dirt caked unto my shoes even though it didnt look like mud. But, lots of fun even in the rain!
This is a great hike for all. There are some inclines that are intense but all are doable for most people. I see lots of mountain bikers there as well. Strollers may not work though.
Its a beautiful place if you want to go on a hike. I love it. But its better to go in the early morning. Or late evening around 6 or so. To hot in the midday. I highly recommend this place.
Bernal Ranch and Santa Teresa County Park have a little bit of everything. There is a historic ranch house and barn with chickens. One can take a very easy walk to the turtle pond or hike and or bike to the old Buck Norred Stables. Trails lead to the top of Santa Teresa Park and into Almaden Valley. During the rainy season you can hike to the water fall. On just about every visit expect to see some wild life, deer and turkeys are most common but I have seen coyotes, rattle snakes and bobcats on occasion. In seasons other than the cold days of winter youll see as many as 20 turtles in the pond. Dont forget the movies in the barn and Santa at the Ranch every December. This is another Blossom Valley Gem!
Pleasantly surprised, first part of the hike is up a steep hill but less than 1/4 mile. The rest of the trail is great.
Good place for picnic - plenty of table. Also great for smaller kids and explaining some farming aspects.
I grew up hiking the trails and they never get old to me, there are several different trails that fork off each other. The trails have beautiful scenic views of the south side, and youll definitely break a sweat the further up you go! Also make sure to watch out for rattlesnakes, and tarantulas!
Great place to hike.
Its cute, historic and informational. And lots of hiking trails.
Great Park, pleasant of trails. Water available for dogs and restrooms too. Great place for photography
Gorgeous place to hike. Not much shade, so be careful on hot days and bring plenty of water
Great hill! Always see different creatures, whether its wild turkeys, coyote, deer, hawks, vultures. Havent seen a wild boar for a few years, though. Perfect for a workout or an hour-long hike. The spring-fed pond is a nice place to count turtles. Historic ranch with interesting info about how life used to be there.
Love it. See a few farm animals
This place is very good. They have clean restrooms, drinking water, two barns(historic). They have in a nest. You will also find trails starting here to santa Teresa county Park.
Great hiking trails in addition to the historic ranch! Walk, hike, and bike!
Well defined trails. Great views from the top.
Stunning views from easily accessible trails. Easy, and free, parking. Perfect for a lovely afternoon stroll.
Lowquats trees brought back memories.Nice historic beginning to the trails at Santa Teresa Co Park. Interpreter was very nice and informative. Showed us around in the barn and the pond where turtles lay on logs together. Really cool
Fine place for local walks
Great for hikes, and family pictures at the barn
Great walks and pokestops.
A quiet place with interesting info on area history
Love this place. Great place just to walk around and imagine how it used to be. Also, entrance to the hills walking trails.
Raptor 101 was so awesome!
Great local history! The timeline and displays are very cool. The old house and barn are restored to look as if you are walking through them 100+ years ago. There is a heritage vegetable garden, and a chicken coop on public display. There are a few picnic tables, but no BBQs so its good for picnic lunches.
Great hiking and clean bathrooms and water fountain at the visitor center.
Hiking on any of the three trails is amazing
A hidden jewel in our cozy Southside San Jose. Come learn about our local history and support Santa Clara County Parks system.
Great place to take the kids or that special someone for a short hike or taking in the outdoors. Has walkways with signs telling the historic value this park represents. Only down side is no dogs allowed.
Good for kids. Not a very long walk unless you can do a strep hill.
Great little hiking and outdoor area. Trails are many, and the views are great to get away from the usual city life. Facilities at the mouth of the trails are clean and well maintained. There are options if you only have an hour, or if you have more.
A small and friendly place. Theres a fresh water spring with a pond. They dont have animals except for a couple of chickens.
It is beautiful
Great hiking location.
Good for local hikes up the hill. The park has a good interpretive ranger who sets up fun movie night events for families. If youre lucky, you may see a tarantula in the fall when the males are out looking for a mate.
We were sorry to see that there were no rabbits at the barn
Very informative, and a nice stroll amidst the busy street.
Provides a portal to San Joses early agricultural history (before there was something called Silicon Valley); a great place to set off for steep training hikes with rewarding views (but best to go early or late in the day to avoid the debilitating heat of summer!)
Chill park with steep hills. Signage/maps lacking but that’s good for wandering.
Great hikes, nice area for little kids to walk around as well
This place has very wonderful hiking trail and also have historical building plus restroom to use
Very beautiful, scenic park. theres a small lake trail if you hike to the left and many miles of trails hiking up.

Awesome park for bike rides
Great place to walk, ride bikes, spend the day to picnic or just relax. Nice playground for the kiddos
Love this place. Great for kids.
Love this park, love to hike the Santa Teresa hills. This park is a gem among Bay Area parks, the wildflowers in late winter and spring are beautiful, have seen wild turkeys, boar, deer, lynx, snakes, quail, along with breathtaking views in every direction. Great for families.
Love the ranch - great place for kids. Dont miss the Santa Teresa springs and the turtles in them!
Beautiful scenery, really cool house and barn.
Nice place. There is a parking lot if you are going for a hike. They organize various events in the barn. There is a very clean restroom on premises.
Small parking lot and nice little walk to see some historical things, and chickens for kids. A more steep trail if you want to hike too.
Good view of the city.
The trails behind the ranch are some of the most physically challenging around the bay area. Stay hydrated because there isnt a lot of shade and it gets hot here.
Awesome park to go running/walking. Great view of San Jose from the top!
Beautiful scenery and steep trails! Love it!!
Watch out for rattlesnake on the trail otherwise a place with many ghostly legends. Dotties pond is the highlight of the visit.
We love it. Visit here regularly.
This place looked very cool but wasnt open when it said it would be.
This is part of the Santa Teresa County Park. Very small parking lot with few street side parking spots available as well. Clean restrooms and even loaner trekking poles available at the trailhead!
Great place for you to take your kids to learn history
