Played two rooms with my coworkers. We work at an escape room and we had a blast! The rooms gave us a good challenge and we had so much fun!!!! Danny was our game master and he was absolutely amazing, best game master Ive had at another escape room. Will be coming back!!
Disclaimer: The following review is for the home delivered game Sabotage in which I was asked to review a copy by EscapeSF and as such our game was fully compensated------------------As someone who has played over 85 escape games the entire concept of Sabotage sparked interest in me. If you hang around the hobby enough you will find two tiers of escape room experiences. The first are your in person classic experiences that you come to expect in a hobby where you are in an actual physical room the second tier is what I like to call the portable experience. These games are the type you see being offered to large groups of people where the experience is scaled down to accommodate the large player counts. Here physical components are simplified to worksheets and if you are going to have some physical elements its going to be small times like ropes to tie knots, small locks and keys and maybe the occasional puzzle piece you slide together. For me, these paired down aspects always felt a little arts and craftsy to me parts felt cheap, pieces didnt line up properly and the slightest bump in the table can erase minutes of work and replace it with frustration. In comes Sabotage a game that Escape SF normally runs for larger companies now paired down to home use. The entire game comprises of a large case that is hand delivered to an specified addressed, a video (that players are not able to rewind, pause or fast forward once you start) that you play that serves as doubles as a timer and hint system. New to the experience and attached to the case is a phone holder. This is used so the GM (parked in a car nearby) can monitor your game via Zoom.Sabotages main story involves your team working for a government branch. Youve come into possession of a large case once held by a shady organization and its your task to open the case up and uncover its secrets. Remember when I said how most portible games feel arts and crafts Sabotage is not the case. The physical elements of this game is rather impressive. Youll be hitting buttons, using electronic tools, sliding switches and turning dials. If you love to push da buttons youll be very impressed. Meanwhile the puzzles themselves are rather simple but still still give some nice Ah Ha moments, The final stretch was especially brilliant with several puzzles lining up for a rather satisfying finish. My fiance and I managed to escape in a good amount of time. For those curious the game is rather linear and i would recommend no more than 3/4 players.Speaking of GM this would be a great time for me to really praise Ron for going above and beyond the call of duty with helping us out with our game. From showing up early while wearing a suit in 80+ degree weather, to swiftly changing out our cases, he really did save a bad situation from becoming worse. We often talk about how bad GMs can ruin great games this is a prime example of an amazing GM saving a bad turn. While I did not get to play the game as intended, I do think this experience is much more handy for those looking into booking a delivered game who are asking What happens when thing go wrong?Overall we enjoyed our time and even when things went bad EscapeSFs excellent customer service really pulled through and we ended the day with smiles.
Danny our gamemaster was so amazing!! He was so warm and welcoming and he helped us out just enough without spoiling the game for us. The rooms are definitely challenging as well as fun! Would recommend to bring a few people with you just to help out with solving different puzzles. Overall great experience!
Awe-inspiring Playroom! This was the first time I visited this place with my son, and He truly enjoyed everything. We need to come back because its a good one. Their people were very welcoming, polite and courteous. It was a huge help for me as well. I will save their number for any inquiries in the future. Lovely!
Ive done a real escape room with EscapeSF before. I did the Sabotage game at home this time and loved every minute of it. The flow of the game and the way they designed the experience is fantastic. Agent Ron, a staff member was our game master. He did a great job of running the game for us. None of the clues were gimicky. The props were really well designed. This is a great innovation in escape rooms for the pandemic. I hope they develop more of these and continue to offer this even after we go back to normal.
This is the best escape room I’ve ever been too. it has great story and was very fun, the best part about is that you can do it with friends. Another good thing about this place is that the one of the best staff I’ve ever seen. They were even nice enough to give us a discount just to be nice. I HIGHLY SUGGEST COMING HERE.
It felt dope had a great time, employee gave us the confidence to accomplish the tasks in hand.
Cloud was an awesome host! And we felt safe playing at this escaoe room because it smells clean in the rooms and are kept sanitized before and after each group. We will be coming back!!
My friends and I tried the Escape from Alcatraz room. 2 of us were escape room veterans, the other 2 were first timers. We breezed through the room in about 30 minutes. I do have to say that it was a great room for beginners, especially because of its linearity. Our game master, Alexander, was amazing. They really set setup the story and added even more depth to our experience.
This was funnnnn. I did it with my daughter very skeptical, but it was challenging and alot of fun. Not what I expected.
A lot of fun and good for team building! Android Ron was great as well!Escape room first timer group went through space bus, kept us very busy for a good 50 some minutes, difficulty level with hints was just right
Amazing puzzles and lots of surprises. We did the King Arthur room. The decorations were great and the puzzle were pretty cool. Some of them were a bit confusing and we needed some hints. But we enjoyed every second of it.Shout out to Alexander for being a great Room Master and being so welcoming and funny.
My friends and I signed up for the Space Bus, which accommodated our large group. The Bus looks simple in design but there is more than meets the eye. Android Ron, you were awesome!I did look into other escape room places, but none of them compare to this one. You have your private room for friends, rather than sharing a room with strangers. - if youre up for that kind of adventure, Im sure they can make it work-. You get clues as often as you need them, and the place all around is awesome. The theme for each room is unique and interesting. We will most certainly be going back to check out their other escape rooms!
Our family had such a memorable time at EscapeSF during Thanksgiving! We chose the Space Bus as first-timers and we had so much fun! Android Ron, our guide, did a fantastic job introducing us to the scenario and explaining everything that we needed to know. Inside the Space Bus the equipment was very user friendly, very much like a real ship, and the puzzles were very, very fun! Thank you for an awesome Thanksgiving activity and for the (many) (helpful) hints!
Ron took us through a home escape experience during the pandemic! It was like the real thing. Cant wait to try another one!
My first time playing a escape game. We were a group of 4, and we did the Alcatraz one. Very fun and challenging. Well definitely check out the other rooms! Also, I dont usually write reviews but they had such a competent and friendly staff that id give 6/5 stars if i could.
This was my first escape room and it was a great experience. Our host was helpful and the puzzles were satisfying. When we walked in we were greeted warmly, asked to sign waivers on electronic pads, and offered the use of lockers for our personal belongings. Then the host gave us our introduction to the story as well as the rules, then brought us down stairs to the puzzle room. A good time was had by all!
Outstanding! For families with kids (12+) as well!Even 3 days later, I totally recommend it! It was an outstanding experience, although it was my fourth escape room experience and it was the best. In contrast to the other three it was not only a room with a couple of hints, it was a story, a couple of rooms and an outstanding flair.I highly recommend it.Alcatraz Escape, Family (1 Daughter 12J)
This was a very different kind of escape room. It was very basic and very plain Jane on the inside and had a good story is that you were locked in the jail cell and had to get out of the penitentiary. I did have fun this is one of the first I did with my partner. We have now done about 40 more
We visited as a family of four with our two children (age 10 and 12). Was greeted quickly by the brilliant Android Ron and played the Alcatraz and Space Bus games. This is our fifth and sixth escape rooms weve done - the Alcatraz room is probably one of the easier ones but the Space Bus was pretty challenging.Hats off to Ron, hes a great game master - we asked for a couple of hints and he helped us without just telling us the answers. Much appreciated!
Great experience!!! So much fun and a great challenge for a family! Kevin was our facilitator/guide and he was AWESOME!!! Super friendly and helpful, can’t wait to return to try a different room!
Cloud Strife and Kevin, a legendary duo you could only see here, made our experience at EscapeSF a splendid experience. A combination of Cloud’s great acting and Kevin’s pleasant attitude created a time my friends and I will never forget.
Cloud and Kevin were great game masters. The space bus was a very fun escape room. Highly recommend 10/10!
Had a blast! Well designed game rooms with some fun and creative challenging puzzles for all ages. Great attentive staff members. Fantastic experience and without doubt a place I would recommend to anyone.
We tried the SpaceBus and it was somewhat different from any other escape rooms we have ever tried and we really enjoyed it. Not only that the Android Ron definitely made our escape experience much more special!
Great team building experience. Would recommend for friends trying to connect and work together.
Well-designed rooms with interesting puzzles, more on the physical side than the intellectual. Denny was our game master and he was super helpful! We really enjoyed the experience
Cl0ud and Kevin were amazing! They really made the experience so much better with their enthusiasm and friendliness. Very worth it.
Android Ron is awesome, super friendly, and made the experience an amazing and unforgettable one. Would 100% recommend coming here, the themes for each of the escape rooms are amazing and unique.
The escape room itself was great and cloud and Kevin were great facilitators. I had a ton of fun and I definitely will go again in the future!
Space Bus ROCKS! Android Ron made our experience one to remember. I cant wait to come back and try the other escape rooms!
Kevin and Cloud were very enthusiastic as game masters! Great experience! 10/10, would recommend, will come again!
Wonderful fun way to end our fun filled trip to SF. Space bus was challenging and fun for our group of 4. Cloud was an excellent host and truly provided us excellent service. Very Highly recommended!
Second time I have done an escape room here and it did not disappoint! The quality of the rooms here are top notch, will be back to do the others :)
Jeremy was a great host. The blind tiger room was a great challenge for a group of 5
Space bus is the best. Android Ron of terra 01 showed us the way. Life is meaningless without android Ron. Android Ron is the meaning of life.
Went for my bachelor party, it was a great time! Cloud was a great robot. Great puzzles, great time, excellent robot 10/10 would do again! Go team Space Buttons
Cloud and Kevin made my experience very pleasant. Great actors and wonderful people.
We had a great time. Perfect for 3 people. One of my favorite escape rooms out of the four Ive done. Not too hard but not overly easy either. Would be good for begginners though.
Ive done 3 escape rooms here and theyve all been memorable, feasible and fun.
We had a great time in the Space Bus, special shoutout to Android Ron!
Ive done around 140 escape rooms across the US, and Id rate the rooms at EscapeSF as decent, but more like take it or leave it rooms. Still a 5/5 because the rooms are consistently reasonable games.---Antique Room---3 out of 5, but on the lower end of the range. The weakest room Ive done at EscapeSF. The first puzzle (if you can even call it that) was gimmicky and poorly designed. Other than that, the room was fairly standard. The set was below average, the story was pretty much non-existent, and the puzzles were pretty much what youd see in other rooms. Its a fine room, but you can take it or leave it.---Blind Tiger---The second escape room Ive ever done. As a group of 4 newbies, we got only about 2/3 of the way through the room and I left impressed nonetheless, mainly because the automation, set design, and puzzle integration with the set/story made the production value miles above Real Escapes Time Travel Lab. However, nowadays Id expect this level of tech and puzzles in an average escape room, which makes this room a 3/5.Set - Multi-room set, where the transition between rooms was fairly logical and smooth. The set didnt have a ton of interesting props or decorations.Story - Light story that played some amount of significance into the game, which is a bit more than youd get in most rooms.Puzzles - Pretty well integrated into the story, but the puzzles were pretty standard overall. Mostly (if not completely) automated with some interesting input mechanisms, which was a plus.---Space Bus---The most recent escape room Ive done at EscapeSF. 3 out of 5 because its a solid room, but theres a lack of uniqueness which means its not super interesting for enthusiasts.Set - Its a bus, so the space is small. There werent any super interesting set pieces, though they really did succeed in creating an outer space vibe. I dont recall if there were any motion experiences, which would put the set a notch higher. Nonetheless, the set was reasonable overall but not mind-blowing.Story - Not a lot of story, as this room was more about solving a bunch of puzzles.Puzzles - There are a decent number of puzzles in this game, with a space bus manual as your guide (I actually quite like seeing this guidebook/journal element in games, assuming it makes sense within the story, which it did in this case). The puzzles fit well with the space theme, and a couple of them involved unique interactions. I liked that there was a diversity of puzzles.
I played all four of their rooms with my work friends, and we had a blast with each one! The puzzles are clever, creative, varied, and satisfying to solve. None of the solutions felt too arbitrary or unfair, and the themes for each room are well-designed. Space Bus was my personal favorite. The venue is clean and comfortable, and the staff are very friendly. The game masters were attentive, and informed us if we solved a puzzle correctly but the solution failed to work (which did happen a couple of times). The optional hints during the games were helpful without giving too much away. They were happy to answer any questions and clarify any puzzles after the game was over, too.Thank you for the experience EscapeSF!
Lots of fun and was challenging. Riz was awesome.
Team building at its finest. Do no hesitate. Search rooms, find tiny insignificant details that add up to the biggest and best clues. Work with each other and be the hero. The rooms are some of the most professional and detail oriented escape rooms I have ever seen. Puzzles are not so out of left field that you need a PhD to figure out, but not so simple you are bored. Exciting and fun.
Amazing experience! We went for the first time - it was worth every single minute! Shout out to Danny - the game master!!!!
So the TL/DR is that EscapeSF went above and beyond to help me pull off a surprise proposal to my girlfriend. They were so accommodating and helpful before, during, and after the entire proposal. My first email to them was sent about two and a half months before my desired proposal day. It did not matter that my event was in the future, they were extremely helpful in giving me the required information that helped me craft the surprise proposal. To make things a bit more interesting I asked them if it was possible if the escape room without me being there. EscaspeSF said it was no problem and even went to change the name on the invoice to match one of the friends who was going along. They did not stop there though. They even hid the ring box in one of the puzzles for my girlfriend to find. Their timing was impeccable, as right as the ring box was found, they were able to bring me inside to complete the surprise proposal. They made sure that it was a one of a kind experience, and I can not thank them enough for all their hard work.I greatly appreciate all the help EscapeSF gave to me, and highly recommend everyone and anyone to come here! They will make sure you have a wonderful time. EscapeSF has my eternal gratitude for everything they did, and helping me surprise my now fiancée.
Cl0ud and Kevin were dope af and made the escape room experience very enjoyable
Very fun! Staff were friendly and very helpful!
We had a great time, very immersive. Thank you Ron!
Love my first escape experience, it’s so fun.
Great escape room thank you cloud for being an awesome!
This is hands down the best escape room experience Ive ever had and Cloud as our gamemaster made it that much better! We set the record for the week for Alcatraz!!
Albeit my group did have a nice time solving the puzzle, the overall experience just seemed to be lacking from the staff’s helpfulness and quality of the escape, compared to other escapes I have done in the Bay Area. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to try an escape room. The puzzles were straightforward, but perhaps I was expecting more for a place in the city. 3 stars is a decent evaluation on my experience.
Space bus was high quality and fun, thanks cl0ud for being a great host!
Space bus wasn’t really fun for my group. Game master was in the game the whole time which we hated. Too much reading in their guide books. Not much satisfaction solving the puzzles
If puzzles stoke the fire of your problem-solving mind, you should not miss EscapeSF. I would recommend a group size of at least 4, if not 6.
Lots of fun, interesting puzzle. Definitely recommend.
Great fun. Smashed the Escape from Alcatraz in 37 minutes.Might come back for another game before we leave the city
Its an amazing place to go. I had SUCH a great time there. We did the antique room and it was just wonderful. Its nothing like you would expect, but in a good way. It exceeded my expectations in every way possible. Would definitely go again.
Great team-building exercise! Only my 2nd time going to one of these escape room places and it was a lot of fun. We were in the prison room which had so many neat ways to solve the clues - honestly just had a blast. Would love to come back and try the other rooms out some time.
Gooood. Imara was good
Great time! We felt rushed when the time was running out but we made it!!
The game was really fun, and the tech was cool! Definitely recommend for a good time, especially for a work event!
This was not my first escape room, but it was a first for my friend. She enjoyed the intro to this type of event and we both had tons of fun. We did the Antique room with just the two of us and made it out in time, with some small difficulty. The game master was helpful when we needed it, but also let us think for a bit before offering help when he thought we were doing well. The walk through afterwards helped us think of ways we could’ve done better, and offered some laughs at our blunders. There were lock boxes available for phones, but no dedicated parking nearby, just a heads up.Overall great and I would come back to try the other rooms :)
We just barely escaped out of the Blind Tiger Bar, but we had a blast doing so! We were a team of 3 and have done about 10 escape rooms to give a reference point. Hoping to come back someday and escape from Alcatraz.
ANDROID RON EPIC GUY LITTT FAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMNNNNNNNN
Played Special Ops and won! Fun room!!
Came here for a work event and booked two rooms: Escape from Antique Room and Blind Tiger. Everyone had a great time! I researched a bunch of options, but this was closest to our office and easy to book the times we wanted online. Thanks so much! The space bus room looked really cool and I would love to try that one sometime.
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the Blind Tiger room. This was our 7th escape room and we have seen high end and low budget rooms. We were impressed with the unique puzzles that the owners have created. The room has a rustic/authentic/real feel to it and a good amount of technology. The room offered the perfect challenge for the 2 of us to complete it with only a moment to spare.
The blind tiger room was my first escape room. We had a blast working through it with some hints along the way. They even gave us a couple of extra minutes on the clock. Highly recommend this place.
Came here with some co workers. Very fun
We had so much fun at EscapeSF. The staff was super friendly and the rooms were great. We tried Alcatraz & the Blind Tiger. I highly recommend Blind Tiger. It was a lot more complex than other rooms Ive tried in the past so that was really fun. Really look forward to trying the other two rooms.
Walked in without an appointment and Ariel hooked us up big time! The clues were a bit tough to figure out all the way but she gave us small hints along the way and we figured it out. It was a lot more fun than we thought it would be and I definitely recommend doing it at least once. I’ll go again for sure!!
Escape from Alcatraz was the bomb. I loved how our game master Malcolm was super understanding of my claustrophobia.
Great staff. Great experience. Would do it again
I visited EscapeSF with my coworkers as a team building activity. We were a group of 8, and we split into two teams of four, and each did both Escape From Alcatraz and Escape From Antique Room. The best description I have is one that was offered by the people running the games: Its like a puzzle-based computer game, except youre *in* the game. Rearrange the items around the room, and open a locked door; behind that locked door, find another set of tasks and items to rearrange, understand, and use them to move on. Theres no heavy lifting, and at no point is there anything that feels unsafe or risky: its just fun. (Of course, you are still in a set of locked rooms: while theres an emergency exit if you need it at any time, theres still an element of it being scary -- the same way that playing Myst always freaked me out, even though there was nobody else there.)The games were each interesting and both were different: if our group had only run one of them, I would have been disappointed not to see the other. Many of the puzzles involved had several possible ways to resolve them. The game masters were able to watch from behind the scenes, and when a team was stuck, could offer a helpful piece of advice to move them to the next clue.I really enjoyed this. Working within our group, we had a lot of fun: splitting up the various tasks and trying to figure out what was going on.Our groups each took about 45 minutes to get through each room, and it was an awesome 45 minutes: we walked out feeling accomplished and we had a great time working together on it.Thanks to the EscapeSF folks for running a great game!
Its a great place and awesome rooms. I think I have done all the rooms there so thus ends my journey with this company. But if youre looking for something fun and with great service... this place is the one
This is a blast you need to bring three or maybe four friends Max but it is really fun
Initially I posted 3 stars by mistake. Our group totally enjoyed. We loved the setting that designed to make everyone could be participate.
We did Escape from Alcatraz as part of my 13 year old Christmas present. It was my daughter’s and my third escape room and my wife’s first. It was by far our favorite escape room. It is a very well designed multi-room experience. The puzzles were generally unique and the clues laid out were sufficient to solve it without hints. The theming was very well done. We plan to return to do another escape room from the same company with all three kids.
Three friends and I did the Blind Tiger escape room. It was challenging, but extremely fun! The room was well designed and nicely programmed and it really followed the theme that was attached to it. Three of us had no prior experience with escape rooms, but in the end we still finished with 3 minutes to spare. I would encourage anyone who finds puzzles problem-solving fun to try EscapeSF out.
This is the second escape room Ive done, and it was fun but not perfect. There were a few un-polished clues, some inconsistent era-continuity puzzles (like using digital items in an analog time period) and some puzzle related problems where the puzzle didnt unlock with the right combination. It was still a fun trip, but Im interested to find a higher quality experience to send my friends to. While I wouldnt recommend this place to them, if they told me they were going, I wouldnt try to talk them out of it, just tell them to have fun.
Liked it! Nice place, not so visible from the street side, but, will do for what it is for.
Its really fun !! its very very fun !! :))
Did blind tiger (20% success rate). As an experienced escape room family, we were entertained by some unique escape room tricks. We escaped! Wanna come back to do space bus.
Reviewing Alcatraz room. Not the best escape room Ive ever been to. They do their best to make it super immersive which was cool, but the puzzles felt pretty random. Some of them were more about brute-forcing your way through it than solving or thinking.
I love this place. What an incredible experience!! I and friends had blast. We escaped black tiger without hints. The theme is very cool. Setup is beautifully done. You walk from one room to another, looking for clues. It was just perfect for our team of 5.Great staff.Looking forward to escape the other two.
Overall very good but theres room for improvement. I really enjoyed my experience here and I intend to honor their request and not share anything about the room I ran but there are some things I can share. I went through a room with a group of 6 and while we did complete I think that had more to do with bumbling through it than really getting the nuance the game designer intended. I think the hour time limit may have played into this. All that being said this was an awesome experience and I am excited to see this industry grow. I would recommend EscapeSF to a friend and I would happily go back to try another room. Give them a try. I think youll enjoy it :)
Havent really gone all the way in side
Did the space bus with a group of 6. The puzzles were very high tech and difficult but not impossible. There were a couple of times we got stumped and had to ask for hints but we ended up escaping with 3.5 minutes to spare! Lots of fun, a bit stressful but overall a great experience!
Did the Space Bus and it was pretty awesome. Very different from other rooms Ive done. Way more technology which was really fun. Only downer was that some of the tech wasnt working and the staff had to step in a few times. Also you have someone in there with you just watching over you. Took some getting used to.
Our group of 5 friends really enjoyed this experience! We chose the Escape from Alcatraz experience. The game was challenging and really fun. We were kept challenged and entertained for the entire course. We will definitely return to try a different experience very soon.
