Good place for a hike or bike ride. There are some nice hiking trails in the trees. Bike the main canyon trails or go to Del Mar Mesa for more .
Great place for children and adults alike! My five year old loves to go here and play in the water. It’s always been running and clean in our experience. There’s crab daddy’s which she likes to watch and lots of trees to climb on with shade.
On 5/18/2014 - I jogged through Golden Gate Park as part of the trail for Bay to Breakers. What a gorgeous park - in many ways, it reminded me of Central Park in NYC. I actually saw bison hanging out in the pastures alongside the road, how cool is that? I also saw a greenhouse (or was it?) as we ran past, including a windmill at the most western end of the park! Such lovely sights to see, and the grass was completely green! Incredible
Pretty good hike! The trails are well maintained and it’s not very crowded at all. Although there isn’t much of a view the natural desert landscape is pretty. Be prepared for the heat and the sun, but there is plenty of relief from the elements due to the canopy of trees that surround the creek. Plenty of parking, only thing it needs is a few benches and a water fountain.
Always beautiful. Very nice trails to bike on and kept very clean.
Good place to walk laps and your dog. Canyon is right next to it and it is kept pretty clean.
Really like this nature walk after theres been some rain and the creeks got a good amount of water flowing! ️ Its also fun to take some of the smaller trails that branch off of the bigger ones that follow the creek to the waterfall. Great place to bring your kids for an afternoon adventure, just make sure to keep an eye on them at the waterfall cause the rocks can be steep and slippery if your shoes r wet!
Lots of trails and pretty well maintained. Good for mountain biking too
Loved the trail walk it was very niceGetting to Waterfall was well worth itwe got refreshed, and took lots of picturesgreat scenery
Such a great trail in the Carmel Valley/Sorrento valley area. You can hike with your dog. Mountain bike and even horse back ride there. Nighttime riding is epic. If you want to stop by a great bike shop that actually cares about bikes then stop just down the road at North of the Border Bikes and they will dial you in.Pro tip: watch out for rattle snakes and perform a tick check after your hikes.
One of the best places to MTB bike and hike! Theres even a waterfall!
Huge park next to the preserve. Nice picnic tables under shade trees.
Lots of dirt, come if you like dirt and exercise
Totally liking the vibe nice area and comfortable
Good trails with access from several neighborhoods.
This is a great place to hike and bike. Lots of trails to explore.
Small open field park with playground, and basketball court. Great for family picnics or soccer, football, or any other sport that needs a big grassy field. The park is also a good place to start your mountain bike ride in Penasquitos canyon. The park has port o potties, water fountains, and trash cans.
Hike east then south to get to the creek crossing.
Green field, clean air, good for short stay. And a few steps into the Rancho Penasquitos Preserve where bikers, runners, and hikers take the trails!
Best place to catch and release crayfishs.
Beautiful park to walk around.
Great place for a nice walk and easy biking
One of my favorite places to hike and ride. Great for familys to hike. Walking trails are pretty flat over to creek. There are trails for riders that are medium difficulty. Couple good elevations and a portion where you go into what seems to be like a tunnel and is higher on the skill level but still ok for an amateur like me. Only lost it a couple times. Creek is not huge but cool to check out. Great for pets too..
Great park. Kids love it.
Great place to hike. Very beautiful! Fairly flat terrain. Didnt make it back to the waterfall . . .maybe next time we will park in other lot and make it all the way. Long in and out hike!
Always a great hike to do. The trail is flat and has a lot of room most of the time. Theres usually people on the trail either walking, biking and sometimes on horses
Grass is patchy in many area. Needs better maintenance
My favorite place to ride my mountain bike. It has everything you could want to challenge your riding ability, rooky or expert.
Excellent park, designed for children. This park is kept very clean the only thing that I did not like was the sources of drinking water that were not working
Nice little park
Spent the whole day with the Fam. Everybody enjoyed it.
Great trail for biking, hiking and especially for kids.
Beautiful park!
There are so many awesome trails to check out. Each time we go we find a new trail to enjoy. Be alert, it is easy to take the wrong trail and end up somewhere that you had not planned to go.Love Cardio Trainer App to figure out where I missed my turn.
Quiet park with basketball hoops and playground. Great access to Penaquitos Creek for trail running and biking. Waterfall about 1.5 miles West easy, flat access.
Great neighborhood park with access to pq canyon. Has soccer field basketball court and playground.no permanent bathrooms but has portapotties.
Noce walk
Great trail access, fun family friendly hiking and biking.
Our mountain bike Meetup group starts here on the weekends... Great place to enter Los Penasquitos Canyon. Minimal restroom facilities (e.g. Porta Potty).
Lots of fun mountain bike trails
Nice flat trails easy for people with kids.
Great
Very good for nature walk. For additional longer distance trails are around.
Beautiful place to have picnic with a special person...
It is a good place to hike, special to the water fall area. The trails connect from Black Mountain Rd to Sorrento Valley area. It is about 7 or 8 miles, flat and not too difficult hike. Also there are many other trails connect to other places like Carmel Valley or Del Mar to the North, and south to Mira Mesa. Penasquitos Creek Park is a good hiking place during weekday or weekend, it is popular trails in this area, wide open space and not worry too much about getting lost.
Beautiful park with shade, plenty of seating, 2 playgrounds for little and big kids, basketball court, and plenty of space to run around.
Okay so full disclosure, the park itself is like 4 stars. Playground, field, good for walking, but the location isnt great for anything non-park or non-residential related. HOWEVER, I bump it up to the 5 star because of its location to so many hiking trails, which are all connected to the Los Penasquitos Canyon Trail, which is right along Penasquitos Creek. Ive never dived too deep into the hiking (never more than a couple hours) so Im not sure how extensive it is, but its really fun to go exploring around here and see the greenery. The view is sort of nice, in that you can see far away, but you just see other hills and homes.Lots of parking too. If youre looking to have a picnic with a bunch of people, I would be pretty shocked if you ran out of parking space. Ive never seen it even half full, and Ive been here a half dozen times.
Great Mtn Biking trails for beginner intermediate or advanced. 3-20 miles. You choose. Single track and fire road. Top one or two local places in SD area for riding.
Iconic
Saw a deer and rushing water! Tons of people walking around. Biggest downside was hearing about a 4 year old attacked by a mountain lion later that day. Keep your kids close!
Its just gorgeous.
Great place to explore the outdoors in the heart of the city. There is a wide variety of trails for all abilities.
My Go To park - though I spend my time in the Preserve. Lots of ball fields, tennis courts and even Cricket once in awhile. the old ranch house is kinda cool, but I spend my time on the trails. Id give it more stars if you could legally mountain bike on the horse/hiking trails - where all the single track is. Cobbles is a fun down hill - and the climb to Camino Ruiz is brutal, tight and great fun to ride down (one of the places that horses arent allowed I assume because the trees overhang too much and trail is too tight). Bathrooms, water, parking (unless there is a softball tournament or something) and easy access to the trails.
Have to be there early so youll not encounter bikers....Open area its hot on summer.
Nice park for children and adults. Very close to one of the Los Penasquitos Canyon trails.
Perfect place for Easter Egg hunt. Park is wide open and plenty of parking spot for everybody. Its our second time here and were always excited because our LO will for sure have some fun. Theres a really cute well-kept playground, which I forgot to take a photo. Next time, Ill make sure to take one or two. Each year and I hope they do this for a very long time. They do an Easter egg hunt in 2 different age group. The first group is the 3-year olds and under They spread out the eggs around the smaller field of the park and every parent with their LOs will circle around that area. As soon as they say go, all the little kids will SLOWLY grab the eggs until all of the eggs are picked up. Its so cute because the kids are so small and they take their sweet time. Now, the older kids ages 4 and up (not sure if the oldest is twelve.) They spread out the eggs and covers 75% percent of the park. Then they all line up at the very end towards the playground. As soon as they say GO! ohmGeeh! Its like Black Friday for them, they all came running with their parents. It was like the amazing race but more like a vacuum. The field was all cleaned up in less than 2 minutes.Good thing we have another year with the smaller group then will definitely start training for the big leagues.
Nice place for a late night walk.
Great place to let the kids have some fun.
Love the mountain biking trails, running. Walk your dog here.
Great place to hike and love the water
A great look at how San Diego looked at one time. This is a beautiful preserve.
Good open space with young kid apparatus and basketball courts...No bathroom facilities, only a portapotty
Great Park. Large open space plus kids playground and basketball courts. Just need to avoid during soccer which takes over whole area.
Cool little park. Lots of grass. Even has a mostly clean port a potty.
Great view, nice play structure, large area to play and lots of parking available
Great!!! Beautiful San Diego
A friendly neighborhood park with basketball court, playgrounds, picnic tables, and BBQ grills. Nice space for outdoor activities. Across the street from a trail head to Rancho Penasquitos Preserve. About 3 miles to PQ waterfall. Porta potty only.
Great place for mountain biking. Minus one star for being super crowded on weekends
Nice, clean park with shade. Needs a bathroom, though. Porta poddies in PQ???
Clean, neighborhood park. Canyon entrances close by. Recently remodeled playground equipment in good repair.
Wonderful hike. If you want a short hike to the waterfall, there is a parking lot in Park Village.
A wonderful park to visit, easy to access, and great hiking and biking
Perfect place for nature walk with family, friends and dogs
Fun park, but only porta potty for bathrooms
A favorite walking and biking getaway in San Diego.
