The crowd here is awesome. Everyone is there just to have a good time. The bouncers were nice when we went last Sat night. My only issue is that I dont like mashups - for example, when I hear the instrumental intro to AC/DCs You Shook Me All Night Long, I want to be able to sing along and dance to that song, not to Madonna verses! Dont get me wrong, Madonna is great too, but I like them better as two songs, not one!

Came in town from Vegas on a Monday and was worried there wouldnt be anything to do. Went to Onyx Room for NeoSoul on Tuesday and had a blast. Good music and affordable drinks. Well be back.

Came here to check out the place last month. they totally remodeled the place with beautiful chandeliers, luscious seating areas, grand paintings and more. the food is isnt bad and they offer happy hour wine specials. cant wait to check it out on a Friday/Saturday night.

I really like this place. Its never overly crowded and they have a good music selection. Its a cool spot to hang out grab some drinks with friends. They have a full bar too.

Great spot if you like to party. The drinks are a little expensive so be sure to pregame before you get here. My girlfriends and I have a blast here and they play good music. If you are into the party scene you should like it.

Onyx is awesome! It’s my favorite club in San Diego. It has 3 dance floors that always get packed on weekends and each with its own type of music playing. Rob the bartender makes the best drinks and is very professional with a fun personality. I’ve been going for 5 years now and will continue to go for years to come. :)

The hospitality and ambiance is exactly what my crew and I were looking for! The vip host and bottle servers were attentive and welcoming. I love how they have a 3 in 1 vibe where you can find a hip-hop and Latin floor in one place. We will definitely be booking another table soon!

Not only did we have a great time on Halloween, I accidentally left my credit card at the bar and I panicked. 5 hey mailed it to me ASAP and didnt charge me a thing. Thanks for that!! I will be back! !!!

Save your money and go elsewhere. Myself and 5 of my friends had our phones and wallets stolen here. Our purses were literally attached to our bodies and someone stole everything. Management did not even apologize or act concerned. This place is so trashy, my friends and I will never return. I’ve never experienced this at any other place downtown.

Every Friday this place gets super packed! Everyone is always having a blast. Its gets so packed but they have 3 dance floors with all kinds of latin music and mainstream variety. They even have free bachata dance classes at 9pm. Theyre open til 3am so you can chill & relax before you have to drive home.

There are there dance floors over 2 rooms. All have an excellent selection of music with the downstairs more lively and the upstairs with seating for VIP guests. The downstairs is Latin music which is amazing and a lot of fun.Issue is that they dont allow reentry (so if you leave, you pay to enter again). The cover is a $30 fee which would be expected in a high end club but you can find better options in the area for a $5 cover and reentry.

3 dance floors. Music was ok. Bartenders were fast up until we wanted to close our tab. They made us stand there for like 30mns. When I flagged a bartender down, he told me I would have to wait for the girl that opened my tab. The girl that opened our tab was busy and did not get to us until 30mns later. I believe this was done on purpose.

They said that the free guestlist ended at 10:30pm and let the girls at 10:35pm in front of us go in for free. When they tried to charge us I asked why the girls in front of us got in for free if they were late as well and got upset about it and tried to overcharge us. I got upset about it and they got overly upset about me getting upset and let the girls behind me go in for free as well. I thought this was extremely petty & went to another club. All I did was ask a question, no need to get petty about it. Ive gone to this place before and it was boring anyways lol

Good DJs and the instructors look like they are good dancers. However, the girls at the club are by far the worst Bachata dancers I ever danced with. And Im a dance instructor visiting from LA. Also its not free for guys before 10:30, I only got a discounted rate. I regret not going to Sevilla night club earlier that night. But at least Onyx had good AC.

The behavior of bussers in this place is abusive: they take all unattended glasses, whether empty or full! The first time, I was on the dancefloor when I saw the busboy quickly taking all glasses on the table. I was a little annoyed by that, but well, I thought it happens to everybody to make a mistake, and my glass was getting close to the end anyway. But it happened again the same night, I was mercilessly sanctioned for 5 min of inattention, and this time my glass was literally half full! I mean, it is a nightclub, so people are supposed to go dancing and leave their drinks aside for a bit, right?

I go ever other weekend and I’ve observed many times that the person checking the IDs is very selective of who goes in even though people are in dress code..

I’ve been traveling the world and I’ve been to many clubs but I have never experienced anything like this before the first issue was that they didn’t validate the guest list and made you pay I voiced my opinion on the issue and the response was “too bad”. I still went ahead and paid upon stepping forward the supervisor/manager in the front entrance refused to let me in and embarrass me infront of everyone their, I found this to be the most unprofessional act ever from a big business such as this. I will continue to pass this info around so that my friend base don’t support this club anymore!

Bottle service lost my credit card and my wife had her iPhone stolen.

So, the only reason I am giving a one star is because I have to in order to make a comment. So my phone got lost, so I went back to the club to talk to someone security and ask if they can look... So long story short, I was told to call in the morning because a cleaning crew would come... No one answered my calls, it says to text a number and someone is suppose to answer... When I tried to leave a voicemail, the voicemail was full so no way to leave a one... The fact that their has been no response not even to an email sent. Really sucks that I havent received a response on lost phone... Dont loose anything at this club, you will not get it back depending on them calling you back...

Horrible service. You have to pay a reenter fee even though you paid before hand for it. Go to club Sevilla, much better and allows re-enter. Much better time too.

First time in San Diego and fist club weFell upon.. Can’t go in with shorts? I understand wanting guests to look decent & having a dress code, but my husband had nice shorts (from a high end brand) and we said we were willing to pay multiple bottles, as we usually do if we go to a club. Happy we ended up spending our money elsewhere, Don’t tell me how to dress when I’m willing to drop thousands at your bar. Had a great time in San Diego, but don’t recommend old school mentality for dress codes.. Also, sloppy 21 year olds for the most part in line..so would avoid if you’re at all classy and want to actually be around mid twenty early 30s.Cheers

The hosts at the door are unprofessional and unwelcoming. No wonder every time that I walked by this place I never had a desire to stop by and spend a single penny here. First time here and I hate it!!! It was my friends birthday and not even for that they could have some empathy about it. $20 dollars at the door, margaritas are $15 disgusting and super sugary, the bartender ruined my Casa Amigos Margarita by adding cheap stuff like sweet and sour and Triple Sec. I can buy same Casa amigos Margarita at a high scale bar in Gaslamp for $15 with quality ingredients like fresh lime juice and agave. Never coming back here. Do not waste your money, time and energy here go to Altitude, Top of the Hyatt, Noble Experiment, The Nolen. There are way better options with excellent customer service and quality drinks

This is one of those if I could give them 0 stars I would kind of posts! Back in October my friends and i went to downtown to celebrate a 21st birthday and arrived on a party bus. Once we arrived we decided to get VIP service and chose the one for only 6 people which costs us $500! Within minutes of us having the table I had to leave due to a friend being way too intoxicated. Long story short I went back in to tell my friends and family I was leaving only to see the table had been cleared out! We literally had the table for AN HOUR! I have reached out to the club and first spoke to Carolina who said Erik the bar manager would contact me and to send them a detailed email which I did and literally didnt hear back until January only to be told hed get back to me in a couple days! Well its been 3 weeks and I have yet to hear anything! So DONT go here and spend your damn money because they will screw you over! Erik gave me 3 excuses as to why the table was taken from us, first it was because no one had wristbands BUT the 3 people that were actually there DID HAVE them, second excuse was because IF THE BOTTLE IS ALL GONE THEY LIKE TO RESALE THE TABLE TO ANOTHER PARTY!!!! First of all when he said that blew my mind because the few times we have got bottle service one of the reasons is usually so we have somewhere to chill. Idk about anyone else but i wouldnt spend $500 bucks knowing we would be kicked out because we finished a bottle that we purchased! Total bs if you ask me. And then when i commented on all that he said because my friend was drunk but that was even dumber because she wasnt at the table for that long anyways! We got removed from the club when she was in the bathroom so they didnt even know she was at that table! Anyways dont spend money here or get vip because they will SCREW YOU OVER!!!! I will be writing a review on every damn website I can as well as reporting them to BBB because $500 for an hour is BS! I gave them 4 months to get back to me and only heard from them once.

The downstairs Thin Room has nice Latin Music split over 2 rooms. The drinks are pricey and not that good. The crowd could be better as well.

CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENT! My card got charged for two different transactions. I only had one tab and yet they charged my card for two. This is very unprofessional, dont you guys check signed receipts? Or do you guys just guess which card to charge??? Its impossible to get a hold of someone to get your issues resolved!

First of all i dont recommend it to any body.Once you pay the fee and get inside you will see how the securities treat you.they are looking for any excuses to kick you out aggressively,the bartenders charge you what ever they want .it happened to me several time for the same drink when i noticed that i told them i want to talk to your supervisor why you charge me differently and they didnt care, many times .if you want to have a poor experience of quality go to the onyx.

Worst service ever in VIP!! No security watching there VIP tables. Other guest just jumping over our table. Numerous times I asked for security no one came. I had to get into a fight with another guest that was disrespecting my wife at our VIP table. Then they kicked us out of our VIP table. I really dont recommend this place. I used to like this club. But after what happened Im not going back again worst 480 dollars wasted on a so called VIP table plus another 200 dollars ordering drinks. Really disapointed.

This is the worst place I’ve ever been too. The bartenders are EXTREMELY disrespectful and staff just seem to find any way to kick people out regardless of the situation. this past weekend (saturday) a bartender thought it would be okay to spray water in my friends face. It was ridiculous and we were kicked out immediately after. This bartender thought it was okay and funny to spray water at people and then call us “paisas”. I couldn’t believe what was happening. People saw what happened and I hope management sees the surveillance cameras . This man was the rudest person and judging people based on the color of their skin. If that’s the kind of people who are hired then there’s is no desire for me to go back. if I could give this place no stars I would HIGHLY recommend NO STARS!!! Never going back .

Very rude gate staff. This is not a good place to go because staff is really rude and acts like police officers push in lines. Omnia is a batter choice lads. Great environment and staff engage with people really friendly.

So I came here with the world crawl group for a birthday celebration. The door people were really fast in getting our big group in. I got a drink in less than a minute from a pretty sweet girl who took the time to say “Hi I’m Cali, what can I get you?” instead of the rude head nod and finger! Everyone was really friendly at the club. I danced with a bunch of different groups that were hyped up! The lights and LED screen are really mesmerizing especially with a little vodka =P. We didnt leave with the bar crawl cause we were having so much fun! Next time I’m coming straight here!

This place was very nice, talent was very attractive, but DJ was way off. Music was two years late and a lot of drunk people bumping into each other that cant handle their alcohol.

If you love bachata or salsa music you have to come here on a Friday! Saturdays are great for hip hop too! Definitely a dance party!!!

Its super crowded and not in a fun way. Its so packed and hot that its impossible to move, let alone dance. Also drinks are very pricey.

My 5 friends and I came here for Rumba Lounge on a Friday night. We took the Bachata class which was pretty cool! We all like Latin music but more so the raggaeton so we spent the rest of our night in that room. The theme is woodsy, oak tables and couches that look kind of like trees or bushes. The big mirrors were cool. I liked the lighting especially. Not really daark with strobe lights like upstairs. I could actually see people and where I was going. Everyone had such a good time! There was a bunch of cute Latin guys that taught us a few moves. Music was really upbeat! We had a few basic drinks and beers from the bar. Sometimes there was a few minutes wait and sometimes they helped us right away. Went upstairs for a bit to check it out but preferred the Latin music. . Good vibes all around. I recommend it!!

Horrible place! Very biased and racist towards people not from this country. A group of us went there to have some drinks and party but when my friend showed her passport from Mexico to the bouncer, he confiscated it claiming it was fake and wouldnt give it back to her. She has been entering and exiting the country for years with no such issue. She even showed him a different ID with the same information! After about an hour of pressing the issue, they finally returned it but not after making her cry and ruining her night. If you are looking to be alienated and bullied at the front door, this is the place to be. Never going back; If I could, I wouldnt even give this place a single star

This latin nightclub has 3 large dance floors, 1 for hip hop upstairs, and 2 separate dance floors for latin music in the basement. They dont advertise it, but the club keeps the latin dance floors open til 4am on fridays. The bartender Chelsea is the best!

There are not a lot of places that play R&B all night in San Diego! That’s why I really like coming here on Tuesday nights. In the front room they play the greatest neo soul classics like Lauryn Hill and Alicia Keysas well as some new stuff from Erykah Baddu and others I don’t know names of. It’s not all slow ballads there’s also a bunch of upbeat feel good jams! So fun to dance to.

Very much enjoyed our time at this venue! We visited from Out-Of-Town and we looked around for a place where we could dance, enjoy our selfs and feel comfortable with. We decided to visit The Onyx because right off the start when we contacted them to find out hours, cover charge and any other info we could we where helped with a very high and respectful quality very informative to make our experience the best.We where informed that there is a Guest list which people can sign up at their website. We where informed of the hours the guest list would be in effect as well as regular hours and cover charged which was very reasonable (Check their website or call ahead for specific dates and events they might have going on)We arrived about 30-45 minutes after doors opened and the doorman greeted us very nice, helped direct us as we got out of the cab to know where to enter the marked lines of rope for people the make line. fortunately at the time there was no one in line and when when right in. The door man looked up our names and info form the guest list and checked our IDs very prompt and efficiently allowing other guest behind us to move along and continue with out any wait.Once inside we made our first stop at the bar. There we found an awesome bartender who made us awesome drinks and he definitely was fast! Understandably I imagine thats the pace he does when the place is full to serve people with out having to wait too much and he did en excellent job! We kept coming back for more throughout the night and even when it was crowded he still delivered great tasting drinks!The room: You will find a very long and narrow dance floor expanding from just a little bit after you make your way in all the way to the very back of the room. There is short bar areas where people can place their drinks along the edge while standing up on both side either near the bar or along the opposite side where there is also tables for Bottle service and private groups who make table reservations I imagine.Along the wall opposite of the bar you will see a the wall covered fro side to side with this awesome looking electric display of lights that are coordinated to go along with the music thats playing controlled by a very talented and skillful man at a control booth near the back. In the middle of that long video display screen you will find the main DJ booth where there is enough room that you could approach the guy and perhaps request a song if he might be up for that. Not all places and not all DJs are open for that but in case this place does and the guys is open to that, you have enough walking room to do so. The time of our visit there was an opening DJ who played the early part of the night and at one point a 2nd DJ came on who totally blew the roof off the place with great music selections, great mixing skills and keeping the crowd hyped.Overall I highly recommend this place, be sure to arrive early and take advantage of the guest list on their website if available on the night you plan to attend, depending if they might have a special event or anything going on. Oh and yes, there is a downstairs area which I was not able to check out but I very much want to come back just to do that!

Worst bottle service in the VIP area. Completely not worth the price! Upon arrival to our table we waited about 30 mins to get our bottle. After we received the bottle, our waitress did not show up once throughout the night. I personally had to ask security multiple times to get our waitress to come to our table. Then we waited an entire 45 mins to get our debit card back.Host also stated that DJs from NY were going to be playing music. He completely lied. It was the same horrible local DJs as usual.This is the first time Ive ever been so upset that Ive had to voice my opinion by writing reviews!

The bouncer is a hypocrite; don’t waste your time if you are wearing Nike shoes.This past Friday night the birthday girl wanted to go into Onyx. We were in a very large party bus group with the over whelming majority being females. However, the bouncer who identified himself as Martin (a short bald Mexican) would not allow me, “or any one wearing sneakers” in. I was wearing Nikes and our group would not have had such a negative experience if he judged everyone the same. They began to let other guys in that were wearing Vans and Timberland work boots! The birthday girl pleaded to allow us to keep our group together but the bouncers’ bias and negative behavior became overwhelming. When she began to cry we went to Sevilla Night Club where they were more than happy to have a large group, with the majority being girls. We had a great night after that. I’ve been going out for years and I have never had any issues with wearing Nikes. I don’t know what that guys issue was but I would recommend others to not even bother with that place when there are so many other great options in SD.
